UPDATE 21
Every endless night has a dawning day
Every darkest sky has a shining ray
And it shines on you baby can't you see
You're the only one who can shine for me
It's a private emotion that fills you tonight
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me -Private Emotion, Ricky Martin
[Shakti's POV]
Alone, I strolled down the empty streets of Mumbai. I had to reach Kunwar's flat but to my bad luck my car broke down in between. Streetlights flickered as I passed by them one by one. Some of the lights died out. The buildings were dreary as there were no shadows or life roaming inside.
I stopped as I spotted four children playing a few distance away; splashing into the puddles. It reminded me of my childhood. I thought back when we played in the rain in my hometown; splashing into the puddles and mud fight. It was just Neeti, Mukti, Kriti and I. It rained few hours back for sure.
I snapped out of my thoughts when a girl cried after tripping and spraying her ankle. Is she okay? A boy and another girl helped her up and took her home. I watched them with a sigh of relief. That girl reminded me of my clumsy self. I slipped on the slippery road once, spraying my ankle in the process. My sisters were there as I cried in pain; they comforted me as they took me home, I smiled and reached to the front yard.
[Amar's POV]
I walked out onto the front yard finding Shakti standing in the middle of the lawn, glazing blankly at the night sky, of which was completely enveloped in a thick grey cast of clouds. She was wearing a petite white dress and her feet bare. I walked over, standing just behind her and looked up at the sky as well. My eyes searched for what Shakti was so intently staring at. A few minutes passed and I still could not discover what she was looking at. I took a small step forward and wrapped my arms around her waist from behind "Why are we looking at the sky?"
"How am I supposed to know why you're looking at the sky?" Shakti replied with a smirk.
I chuckled and shook my head at her response. "Alright, why are you looking at the sky?"
"I am waiting for rain."
"How do you suppose to know?"
"It's obvious, there are thick grey clouds floating in the sky accompanied with lightning and thunder, so it can rain anytime." She stated with curiosity.
I smiled and stood, waiting patiently for the rain to come. It could not take much more time I expected, but the opportunity to watch Shakti smiling so contently, I didn't want to lose. I could have asked her to wait for the rain in my room but this glimpse of hers was rare to be shown up. Fifteen minutes passed, and as I was going to step back, I felt a rain drop hit my cheek, and Shakti's happiness rise. I turned towards her, her dress was getting darker drop by drop, to see that she had smile on her face. If there were two things I knew about Shakti was that she loved the rain and she love to dance in it. I took a step forward, then turned to face her. I put one arm behind my back and bowed to her, holding my other hand out infront of me.
"May I have the pleasure?"
Shakti's smile grew as she took my hand and said "Do you need to ask?" I smiled as I pulled her close to me as she stood on the balls of her feet, our breathing increased at a higher rate. We then began to waltz through the yard, the sound of our feet sloshing in the soaked grass and the rain as our music. My fingers trailing the length of her arm to her hand, wearing goose bumps in our wake. She could already feel it happening as she melted into my arms and I closed the space between us. I could sense her trying desperately to control her erratic breathing and slow her heart rate. I was feeling myself getting lost in that moment and falling deeper under her spell. The rain stopped preceding our broken trance.
"I think we should get out of this rain before you catch'"
"ACHOO!!"
"'a cold' see you should have brought an umbrella with you."
[Shakti's POV]
I huddled myself and my teeth chattered in response to the cold.
"Shakti, you're shivering and you look so pale."
Kunwar walked up to me and offered shelter in his arms, but he was drenched too. We head towards his apartment.
I fumbled through his wardrobe and chose his grey shirt I once again huddled myself, curled into fatal position as I sat on the couch. I was wrapped in a cotton sky blue blanket, still cold after a hot bath. I still felt the numbness in my toes. The rain drops hitting hard on the window pane didn't help much. I wonder what does Kunwar eat to endure this cold or he is a macho from birth itself.
"Achoo!"
"Here, have some hot coffee" Kunwar handed me the cup and I took it in gratitude. I took a sip. He sat next to me.
"Better?"
"A little'" My heart skipped a beat when I felt his wet, but soft lips pressed against me cheek.
"Now?"
"Huhh.."
I felt his warmth seep into me as he snuggled against my back with no hesitation. I heard a slight chuckle from him.
"You're heart is beating fast," he said teasingly as he wrapped his arms around my waist. "In a good way." I suddenly had this feeling towards him that I can't explain; it's something unique.
[Amar's POV]
Unconsciously, I rubbed my hand against her soft hair, trailing my fingers against single strands. Then I trailed down her fragile back as she moaned a little. I wrapped my arm around her soft and smooth bare shoulders. She looked comfortable.
"The rain brings many memories; but watching the rain with someone special makes the moment more memorable," Shakti said softly.
We stayed in our position as we watched the rain pouring until we fell asleep in each other's arms by the rain's lullaby.
