Part 2
Arnav had a very important meeting today and his day had already turned bad because of that very beautiful, cute, with perfectly shaped curves girl who had just crushed the front of his car. Arnav picked up the jacket that he had drapped over his chair, put his arms in the jacket and buttoned it up. This meeting was very important and he wanted to give his best.
He came out of the meeting after an hour, not at all happy with the outcome. He wanted to go over the meeting again along with Aman to know what exactly went wrong, in order to not repeat the mistake again. They were too busy over the notes that Aman had taken down when his phone rang. He looked at the screen, saw an unknown number and ignored. His phone rang again and again, a different number flashing every time. He had already put his phone on silent mode but the vibration of the phone still disturbed him. He pressed his index and middle fingers of his hands on his temples to push the headache away.
"Sir I will get a cup of black coffee for you" Aman suggested and left the room.
His phone vibrated yet again and the buzzing irritated him. He answered the phone finally "Is this The Free Institute for Driving? I am 18 and I want to learn driving. But I don't have enough money. So can you please teach me?"
"Wrong number"
He disconnected the phone assuming that this would be the end. But his phone rang again and he answered "Sir is this the Free Institute for driving? I am getting married in two days and my in-laws want a bahu who can drive. Will you teach me?"
"No. Wrong number"
He looked at his phone in disbelief. And before he could ponder over it, his phone rang yet again "Sir, I want to impress my girlfriend with my driving which is not very great. I have to take her for a date tonight. Can you please teach me right now? Please give me the address, I will come right away"
"Shut up and hang up right NOW!" Arnav bellowed in the phone.
The phone rang'
"I am old and nobody wants to teach me. Will you teach me?"
Disconnected.
Phone rang.
"Hi handsome, you teach me driving skills and I will teach you other skills"
Disconnected.
Phone rang.
"Will it be possible if I come in a group?"
Disconnected.
"'Can I forward your number to my friends?"
"NO! And DO NOT call me AGAIN!" Arnav threw his phone and it crashed with the window, breaking the glass in the process, his phone landing on Mr. Shukla's head.
"Sir what happened?" Aman entered just then a mug of steaming hot coffee in his hands.
"Who the hell gave my private number in the public? I am getting freaking calls asking me to teach them driving!
"Sir I will enquire about that" Aman tried to calm down his beloved sir.
Arnav's office phone rang and he literally uprooted the receiver off the cradle and barked in the phone "No I will not train you. Did you get that?"
"Chotay! What happened?"
Hearing his Di's voice brought some relief to him
"I am trying your number since the past 5 minutes. It is either engaged, busy and now it is switched off. Are you ok?" Anjali asked worriedly.
"Yes Di. I am ok. I am fine. Tell me what happened?"
"Do you remember the Guptas, who were our neighbours in Lucknow?"
Lucknow and Guptas brought fond memories to him, especially of her.
"They are coming tonight to our house for dinner. Isn't that exciting?"
"Really Di? After all these years they haven't forgotten us?"
"Yes Chotay! I will give you all the details when you come home"
"Is everyone coming Di?"
"Yes Chotay, Khushi is coming!" her sister smiled in the phone.
"Di I meant Garima aunty."
"Of course. See you tonight."
"Bye Di"
He hadn't met the Guptas since a very long time, they had gone to the USA 15 years back. How does she look like now?
He put the receiver back when it again rang.
"Hello!" came an extra pleasant voice from the phone
"Who is this?"
"You didn't recognize me? How bad is that! I am marketing about your driving skills and you have forgotten about me?"
"You? Who are you? How dare you?"
"Since you offered to teach me driving, I assumed you would extend the favour to mankind in general"
"Do you know what I had to go through and what type of calls?"
"How will I know? You answered the calls!"
He could feel her shrugging in the phone.
"By the way I don't need your expert training. I will make do without you. Kindly extend your help to others. Bye"
He lifted the phone off the table and dumped it on the ground before smashing his foot on it once, twice, thrice and endless times.
He relaxed after some time and asked himself "Who gave her my cell number and my office number?"
