An Indescribable Emotion
Khushi froze on the spot as she digested the image in front of her. Well, its not like you could blame her turning into a statue all of a sudden. After all, her ever-so-charming boss was holding a toddler in his arms. Quite lovingly too.
Almost as if...the child was his own.
And that, successfully snapped the little bubble of disconcertment that had just formulated in her brain. How did she not know this? Arnav was...a father?
Hurt and anger ran through her veins almost as if in a race. It was probable that hurt won because the very next moment, her boss walked up to her and asked if she way okay.
Khushi forced a smile, but couldn't help the stab as she saw the child laugh and press a kiss to Arnav's cheek.
She looked away from toddler's actions and focused her gaze on the other man's face. Only he wasn't even looking at her. And well, it wasn't really his fault either. Because the demanding little tot in his arms was adamant that Arnav look at him only.
Although she couldn't come to terms with the fact that he was her boss's son, Khushi cracked an affectionate at smile at the child's actions. He was absolutely adorable. There was no doubt about that.
Arnav laughed once again and gently held the boy's chubby fingers within his own sleek ones. He turned towards Khushi with that infectious, almost adolescent grin, and signaled to the energetic bundle in his arms.
"Ms. Khushi Gupta, meet my nephew Adit Jha."
Phew.
So that's what instantaneous relief felt like, Khushi thought with a fully developed grin. All qualms went soaring out of the window as she walked towards the jovial duo.
She looked deep into the toddler's very wide eyes and waved at him. He responded by widening his curious browns- so much like uncle-and Khushi laughed at his reaction.
Something shifted in the little boy's demeanor the moment she laughed her infectious laugh. His mouth opened wide and he gurgled some incomprehensible words at her, immediately jumping up and down in his uncle's arms.
Khushi saw Arnav rear his head back as a jaunty fist came flying at his face and to spare her boss's impeccable visage, she opened her arms in an impulsive move.
Well, it looked like that had been the child's original motive. To somehow land himself into this strange yet interesting woman's arms.
Adit almost jumped from Arnav's strong hold, and it was a good thing that her boss had a tight grip on the toddler, for he possessed an odd sort of strength.
"Maamu-I want to go huggie her-"
An involuntary smile lit up her face as she heard Arnav reply to the child in a soft tone. Quite unlike his usual manner of speaking. He cooed to the baby, starting with something that sounded like "Nawaab Sahaab" and ending it with a soft kiss to the boy's forehead.
Khushi melted at that very moment, her head tilting in that manner which all women would understand. It was the sort of head tilt one would do when they had observed something that made your heart turn into mush.
For her, it was this moment.
Arnav turned towards her and smiled his rakish grin. He laughed as he handed the struggling boy to Khushi, "yelo. Happy Nawaab Sahaab?"
Adit nodded vigorously in response but his brown orbs stayed glued to Khushi's face. She recieved him with utter tenderness and gently touched her nose with his. He shrieked with joy at her reaction and began pulling at her cheeks.

An odd feeling went up Arnav's chest as he saw his nephew laugh with Khushi. There was something...different about the way he was acting right now. When he pulled his assistant's cheeks, he had done it softly. Far more gently than how he-for lack of better word- attacked Arnav.
If he wasn't mistaken, which he never was; Arnav discerned that his nephew could differentiate between who was who. It seemed to him that Adit could realize how to act and how not to harm-even by mistake.
Was it weird that a three year old could think all this? Definitely. Did Arnav admit it was impossible?
Never.
He turned his thoughts back to the woman and child ahead of him, and stared long at Khushi's cheerful face. She was a born caretaker, he realized with a sudden jolt. Motherly instinct was a much evident trait in her personality.
Arnav noticed how she carefully cradled Adit's downy head with her slender hands, how she kept the other one at his back. Her fingers were splayed so she could stabilize him first if anything went wrong, and her legs were splayed slightly to maintain both hers, and the child's center of balance.
How very interesting.
He made his way stealthily to his desk and sat down, noticing that Khushi never took her eyes of his nephew. Her apparent bond with Adit made him...happy. Why he didn't know. But it was a joyful feeling nonetheless.
"Adit likes you Ms. Gupta."
His voice broke through the quiet haze that had surrounded his cabin, bringing a sudden charge into the room.
Both Khushi and his nephew turned around at his words for both their names had been in the same sentence. She was smiling, Arnav noticed. And so was Adit.
Khushi nodded in regards to his question, once again going to nudge the little boy's nose with her own.
The red door cracked open behind them, and in walked the second Raizada.
"Who doesn't like Ms. Gupta Bhai?"

Khushi craned her neck away from the toddler in her arms to smile at the man who had just entered the room. Siddhant smiled back at her and proceeded to place a file at Arnav's desk.
"The details that you wanted Bhai. Meeting is set for two tomorrow and they're fine with the budget."
Her boss nodded in answer to what his younger brother was saying, but Khushi sensed that something was off. Gone was the jocular demeanor, and was now replaced by the razor sharp look she had come to both fear and admire.
"Good job Siddhant. Ms. Gupta will be taking care of the Gala so I need you to go back home with Adit. Di was asking about you."
Were her eyes playing tricks on her, or did the younger Raizada's frame stiffen slightly? But his usual sunny smile broke across his handsome face and he nodded. He leaned forward and gathered the file in his smooth movements and turned to head out.
Khushi smiled as she saw Siddhant approach her, and she prepared to hand Adit back to him. But no sooner than she had removed her hand from the toddler's head, he stuck his head back under her chin and refused to move.
"No no no no"
Adit repeated the syllable again and again, almost as if he was trying to establish a certain point. Well, he'd established it all right. Everyone in the room understood that their little Nawaab Sahab wouldn't be leaving Khushi's warm embrace anytime soon.
She laughed as she took in his adorable reactions, and placed her hand back on the downy crown of his head. The incessant "no's" halted immediately, and instead Adit started to clap his hands in a buoyant manner.
Laughing in his own boyish manner, Siddhant walked over to where she was standing and paused to pull at his nephew's rotund cheeks. He winked devilishly at her and then twisted slightly to mock salute his older brother.
Whistling slightly, he pulled the gleaming door and left the cabin.

"Ms. Gupta have you called the caterers and decided upon the color combinations?"
Arnav observed quietly as his abrupt question caused Khushi's face to lift hurriedly in his direction. He saw her gather herself in that amazingly brilliant way of hers, and her full lips widened into a dazzling smile.
With one hand stroking Adit's hair and the other holding him to her front, she appeared the perfect multi-tasker. After all, here she was, standing in his office with a child in her arms and also calmly explaining the details of the Gala.
"..Ms. Kashyap will be here shortly Mr. Raizada"
Arnav tilted his head in thank you and murmured something. If he had perceived that his tone had been low, he was wrong. From the corner of his eye, he saw Khushi smile and walk out with that tempting sway in her stride.
She returned a few minutes later, this time balancing the child safely in one arm, while she carried a strategically placed steaming mug of coffee in the other.
As she leaned forward to place the tumbler on his glass topped desk, he saw the shirt droop and give an unobstructed view of her cleavage. If he wasn't mistaken, she was wearing an ivory bra.
Arnav clenched his eyes as he felt the all-too-familiar response to his assistant fire his veins. And just like that, the sexual tension was back.
Khushi smiled temptingly at him and then walked out with his nephew jumping contentedly in her arms. Her soft derriere swayed brazenly and Arnav felt that it personally mocked him.
Almost as if were softly speaking the words in his ears.
When had the sexual tension ever disappeared?
