Chapter 16"I dont know man. It seems like it was a dream. We are literally from two different worlds" Khushi explained the entire story to Payal while stirring her coffee.
"Well Khushi we clearly arent in control of our fate. If something good has come your way, you are not supposed to push it away" Payal looked at her sympathetically.
"I am not pushing him away" she whined.
"Yeah whatever. You didnt even talk to him properly. What do you know what he had been thinking. You didnt even give him a chance."
"I called him. He said he would call back but didnt" she grumbled.
"It happened once, maybe he got busy."
Khushi just shrugged her shoulders in response.
"Look give it sometime. I guess you running away scared was fine...not entirely justified."
"It was stupid. I didnt want to bear any kind of rejection or pain."
"Think over again. Communicate, trust me its really important for a couple to talk. I saying this by experience."
"Maybe if he calls, we can."
"God Khushi you wont die if you gave him a call one more time. Time is gone when guys would always make the call" Payal rolled her eyes.
"I seriously dont know how this happened. I never even dreamt of such person to be the one."
"Exactly, it just happens. It so scary, that person could be anywhere, anyone, anything...far from your expectation."
"Really, youre saying this?" Khushi asked dryly.
Payal blushed prettily, "its different for everyone. I knew who my man would be."
"Of course you did" Khushi rolled her eyes this time.
"Oh shutup. My point is even millionares, billionares, kings or whatever have a life Khushi. They all are just like us, they eat, drink, sleep, have relationships, theyre just rich...way rich" Payal put her hand over her sisters which was still stirring the coffee.
"Yeah its not normal for an average next door girl to land herself with one of those rich men."
"Is this is all about the difference of status?"
"Partly" Khushi put her head down.
"Prince William married Kate, even though she wasnt a part of the royal bloodline. And this Arnav of yours cannot possibly be as high as the prince."
"Are you seriously giving me an example of celebrities?" Khushi stared at Payal.
"Yeah why not? They are humans as well and also you make the dude sound so oh my god he is Brad Pritt" Payal said in mock annoyance.
They looked at each for a fraction of a second before bursting out laughing loudly.
Calming herself down, Khushi once more started her stirring.
"You know he never mentioned anything about his family unless I asked. He never discussed us. What explanation do you have for that?"
"Listen Khushi, guys are straight forward. Its us who complicate and confuse things. There could only be two things for that kind of attitude, he either was planning his steps out to proceed further so he didnt want to say anyhing just yet or he wants to end it."
"How am I supposed to find out?" Khushi raised her eyebrows.
"Call him. I doubt he wants to end it. No man gets attached from the beginning if he is keeping it temporary...unless his is a player."
Khushi giggled.
"Whats so funny?" Payal asked her frowning.
"If you ever see him, you will know why Im laughing. Arnav and a player..." she snorted.
"Oh dont judge him by his looks. Usually its the innocent looking ones who are the most dangerous."
"Oh no, looks wise, he definitely could be taken as a player but his personalit and attitude...that one can see in a minute is no where near a player."
"Hmmm if you are so sure then why the hesitation and depression?" Payal asked.
"Ugh...I will call him."
"Now thats what I wanted to hear" Payal smiled brightly.
"One more thing, lets not tell parents anything."
"Okay" Payal nodded her head.
~~~
"Did you find out anything?" she asked into the phone.
"No I didnt. How can I this quick jaan. Give me sometime" Shyam replied in a soft tone.
"I am just really worried."
"Why? This generations world is different, what we think is wrong, is not wrong for them. Lets not do anything hastily. We will talk over this is again."
"Okay. Im still not going to tell nani anything yet. Come home soon" Anjali hung up.
She had no idea what she intended on doing. Was she going to force chotte to marry her? How could she? What if the girl wasnt right for him? What if, what if they were just having an affair? She knew he would be really mad at her for butting into his personal life but he did hide somethimg big from her.
How could he not inform her of living with a woman under the same roof for three whole months. She knew Arnav dated but those women never actually stayed with him.
If nani finds out, she will be highly disappointed, thought Anjali.
At this moment she was too angry at her brother and for some odd reason was dying to know about the girl, wanted to see her. There was this weird feeling in her heart that Anjali couldnt point at.
~~~
It was the third time Khushi rung his phone and it was off.
A five hour long meeting? She didnt remember him being unavailable for long before.
She tried to not let her thoughts go down the hill again. Unless and until she didnt talk to him, she wasnt going to assume anything.
What was she supposed to know about relationships when she never had been in one...at least a proper one. She felt stupid for her act.
She tossed her phone on the bed and resumed packing. After Payal and her had returned from coffee, their mom had announced about the family vacation her and their father had planned.
Colarado...Khushi loved that place. The nature of the city, mountains and mountains gave her a sense of tranquility. The best part was they were driving, there. She needed this emotionally and for fun.
"Khushi are you done packing?" Garima walked in her daughters with a towel folded.
"Nearly" Khushi smiled.
"Here, keep this" she handed her the towel.
"Oh and we will be leaving right around dawn so try to go to bed early."
"Okay mom" Khushi gave her a brief hug.
