Chapter 15:

Khushi did not know why but she was feeling strange as she walked into the Lucknow Mental Institution. She had a feeling that everything was going to be okay. She had not felt like that for a long time. It was just a really strange feeling to describe. She just felt really serene and calm. She felt as if the whole world was on her side. She felt stronger.

Khushi did not know what that feeling was and why she was feeling it. All she knew was that she welcomed that feeling with arms wide open. It had been a long time since she had felt anything positive so now that this feeling had come to her she planned on enjoying the feeling and making the most of it.

She walked into the LMI (Lucknow Mental Institution) and met Priyanka at the entrance. Priyanka was wheeling patients in and out of LMI and so she had not noticed Khushi. But once Khushi got closer to her and placed her hand on top of her shoulder did Priyanka stop her task at hand and turn around.

Priyanka thanked Khushi for coming at such short noticed and then handed her a file and pointed her to the patient to whom the file belonged. Khushi opened it up and saw that her patients name was Anuradha. She moved in the direction that Priyanka had pointed to and began to wheel her patient into LMI.

Whilst pushing the patient in Khushi got a very weird yet positive vibe from her. She got the feeling that, that patient was her angel sent down to her by God. It was that strange feeling again. She just could not explain it. Khushi felt as if this woman was the answer to all her prayers. But Khushi brushed that thought off as quickly as it had come to her. There was no way that that woman could have been the answer to all her prayers. She did not even know of an Anuradha Chopra.

Khushi wheeled the patient in and then helped her onto her designated bed. Then Khushi sat next to her and began to read her notes. The woman suffered from dementia and a severe case of bi-polar disorder read Khushi. The file also contained some information about her medical history and personal history. But the thing that striked Khushi the most was the fact that the woman had a full complete family but no one had come to visit her since the day she had been admitted into the institution. Khushi had felt deeply saddened by that.

One of the things that the staff at LMI had taught her as part of her training was that when a new patient gets assigned to you then it is very important that you sit with the patient for a bit and talk to them so that they get use to you. Khushi looked at the woman once more and she just could not help but think that she knew this woman from somewhere. She could not quite put her finger on where she knew her from but she did know her.

Age and the fact that Anjali had spent a long time in an institution had changed her appearance physically. She no longer looked like the Anjali that she used to look like. She was a changed woman now. But for some reason when she had been moved from her institution to LMI her aching heart did not ache so much. She felt a strange source of tranquillity over power her. She saw herself being wheeled into her new home by this porcelain doll like figure. Anjali did not know why but she felt a strange source of familiarity when she was being wheeled in by that girl.

It almost felt like she was being healed. Anjali had not spoken a word to anyone in so long. At first she had stayed mum because she had chosen to. But after a while she had ben silent for so long that she had actually forgotten how to talk. But there was something about the nurse that was with her now that actually made her want to talk. Anjali had tried to open her mouth and attempted to talk many times as the woman had wheeled her in but she just did not know how to. No words would come out.

As the girl helped her onto the bed she acknowledged how careful the girl was unlike the other nurses. Anjali could not comprehend where she had seen this figure before. But there was an image in her head though it was blurry it was there. Anjali just prayed desperately that the blurry picture would become a vivid one so she could see finally see who the girl was. But if only Anjali had known that the girl who's picture she was now trying to make clear had been the one she had blocked out of her head after trying so hard…

Khushi just sat and waited until Anuradha looked up. And when she did and their eyes met Khushi knew there was something there. There was something there that connected them both. It was her eyes and the emotions they evoked. Khushi knew for certain at that minute that there was definitely a connection between them both. Her eyes could have been playing tricks on her but the eyes in her heart definitely could not be.

The eyes in her heart had recognised that woman. The woman was hurting. She was in pain. Khushi could see it in her eyes. They depicted heartache and betrayal too. All emotions that Khushi had been no stranger to. And so it was at that second that Khushi vowed that she would help and heal Anuradha as best as she could.
