PART 16

It was 11:30 and most of the guests had arrived. It was finally time for the engagement ceremony and Kripa's mom and Angad's mom went to get their children for the engagement.

Angad's mom entered his room and looked around for Angad. He was standing by the window staring at the bright sun outside. She went to him and placed her hand on his shoulder. Angad turned his head sideways to see who it was and when he saw his mother, he turned back around.

(Naina Khanna = N)

N: its time

A: hmm? oh yes, ill be there in 5 minutes

N: is everything ok son?

A:life has its strange ways sometimes doesnt it?

N: is everything ok beta?

A: yes, everything is fine. lets go

Angad turned around and looked at the mirror one last time and they left to go downstairs. When he opened the door to his room, he saw Kripa in front of him. They both looked at each other in a somewhat shocked way. Neither of them had seen the other in something like this before and never knew how good they looked.

Kripa looked at him and smiled. He looked so handsome in his sherwani, she thought. It was white with a red shawl around his neck. The color of his outfit seemed to bring out his gorgeous light brown eyes and his strong physique. Kripa tucked a strand of her hair behind her ears and then looked down at the floor. When she did, Angad looked at her carefully. She was never a fan of traditional indian dresses but today she looked extremely beautiful, like she was made for them. Her turquoise blue saree looked really great with her light gray eyes that often changed colors with what she wore. The silver embroidery on her dress matched her diamond jewelry and her beautiful silky long hair complimented her whole outfit. Just as fast as he realized that he had been staring at her for almost a minute, he turned away his head to look at the floor too. Naina noticed them looking at each other and smiled.

N: ab yahi reh kar ek doosro ko dekhte rahoge ya phir niche jakar Sagaai ki rasam ada karoge?

They both smiled awkwardly realizing that his mother had noticed them staring at each other. This would just add to the misunderstandings their parents had about them. Naina took their hands and put it into each others. Naina walked downstairs leaving the couple behind and they followed. Without thinking much of the situation, angad and kripa walked down the stairs of the huge Khanna Mansion hand-in-hand. As the guests looked at them and clapped a little, Angad and Kripa looked at each other, a little scared. " Is this really happening Angad?", Kripa whispered in his ear.

" Believe it or not, it is. " Angad shot back in a somewhat impudent tone. Kripa looked at him with a mild annoyance and then looked straight ahead again. As she thought about the way Angad had said that, she let go of his hand and walked ahead of him. Angad looked at her go and breathed heavily, feeling guilty about it. When they got to the center of the room where their parents were, they stood there, not looking at each other.

Surya brought the rings to the couple and gave them each their respective rings to put onto their partner's ring finger. Angad and Kripa took their rings and looked at it. Then they looked at each other with no expression on their faces. Their families looked at each other and wondered why they wouldnt carry on the ceremony.

N: arre angad, kripa...exchange the rings.

Angad looked at his mom from the side and then at Kripa again. He raised his hand to slip the ring in her finger. Angad was about to put the ring into her finger but they heard a voice which alerted them.

someone: RUKO!!

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the person. Angad looked at her with wide eyes and a shocked face. Kripa looked on wondering what was happening. While their families were shocked as well.
