Rescue is done, so from here I'd like to give it a different name:

The Regret Path

Arnav stopped running, his feet glued to the ground and his world stopped dead seeing her closed eyes. In the deeper part of his heart he knew she was still there hanging in, but the mere thought of its impossibility raced his heart.

The stretcher was bought from the ambulance and the nurses started to take her away from his hands. He refused, urging to do it himself. In this process when one of the nurses checked her pulse and confirmed that she is still safe, he almost forgot to let out that long breathe which he was holding since god knows how long. He placed her as safely as he could on the stretcher, his hands gently placing her head, eyes never leaving her closed eyes, when her grip at the rim of his collar tightened. She always does that, he remembered. As if being in his arms is the safest place and going away from there is something she doesn't want to do. Whenever she does that he always used to remove the tight grip of her hand, however, today, he was hesitant to do that. His heart tightened into a strong knot while he was trying to loosen the grip of her fingers. A tear escaped his eyes; he felt as though this time she was going away too far, too far to be reached by him, if not physically he sensed it this would surely happen emotionally.

Swallowing hard, he finally removed her hand and gently placed on her stomach. They started taking her away from him when he realized something.

"E--ek minute" he stopped them.

He came near her, extended one of his hands slowly and placed it on the place of her heart. He wanted to feel her heartbeat, and yes the moment his hand touched below her neck where her heart resided, he heard it beat, the rhythm of which he had grown familiar with, very similar to the sound of his own heart. He closed his eyes feeling her heart letting out a sigh of relief. "Now move it fast, GO!" he ordered around for what seemed like millionth time that day, as if it was not him who was delaying the process.

He stood there as he watched them take her in to the ambulance, tucking her in the ambulance bed, alerting everything around, the alarming ambulance siren, he watched it all silently; how he wished he would never see her in such a situation. More tears escaped his eyes and he was totally dub struck with the sudden turn of events.

Kyun dard hai, itnaaa, tere hi ishq main, rabba veee rabbveee, rabba ve rabba ve..

**

While the ambulance needed one of them to come along, Arnav jumped in asking mami and NK to reach the hospital soon. In the ambulance, he have seen the oxygen mask being inserted upon on her pale face, saline being injected into her tender wrist, her dress being torn at her back to expose the bullet wound to be cleaned, blood running its way out of her wound which the doctor tried to stop--he couldn't take it any longer. It was all giving him hell! He clenched is fist, swallowed hard, when his eyes turned read indicating his state of mind---anger, hurt, pain, love.

"Khushi" he whispered right when the oxygen machine was switched on and suddenly she jolted up with a heavy breath and her body jerked.

"What-what happened" he tumbled down beside her. "What the hell happened??" he raged. "Khushi-khushi..!!" He started caressing her hair, when one of nurses asked him to stay away. "Kya huwa, use itna takleef kyun deraheho tum log?" he snapped at her. "You have to handle her carefully, you get that?" he warned her.

"Please stop interfering in our work, Mr.Raizada, she reacted to oxygen, it's a good sign, you have to be stronger, please" nurse suggested.

Stronger, right! Arnav singh raizada who know how to conquer the business world using his brains never knew how to be strong seeing his loved ones in danger. It always affected him badly when the person he loved is in danger or for that matter the thought of losing the ones he loved. It all started when he lost his mother in the young age. He never ever wanted to face such a situation ever in his life. He did everything he can, to protect his Di and made sure she was always safe and secure being her side.

But khushi, he couldn't do anything for her, never. Hell! He knew she mattered to him. Mattered? She has become the most important person for his existence. Still he was never been able to be the protective hand she needed. Why couldn't he ever come in terms with her? How the hell could he believe someone who cheated his Di over her? If he claimed that he loved her, did he really? Whatever happened to the trust? Why it was always very complex when it came to his heart? Why did khushi have to face with his mind-heart game? Why didn't she just leave him alone and live a better off life? Wouldn't that be easy for her? Why did she have to go beyond everything for someone like him who always had been refusing to believe her?

"Yakeen do door ki baath hai, maine use ek safaii ka mauka bhi nahin diya,!" For the first ever time Arnav singh raizada actually spoke to himself and went beyond admitting his mistake. Was that all enough? What if he lost her today? Would he ever be able to forgive himself for all that he put her through?

**

Waiting outside the ICU where she was taken into, with his head thrown back resting on the wall, there were a rush of memories which ran through Arnav's mind. Right from their first meeting, the way they came across each other at every phase of their lives, the clues that paved way for their marriage, his way of marrying her, the look on her face when he did the sindoor, his righteous attitude, her helplessness, Hell!!!! He opened his eyes with an instant getting up from his sitting position and banged his hand hard against the railing of the wall. How could he?

He closed his eyes again and the only image he could see was her pleading eyes, glimpses of all the them..

-Her eyes begging him not to do this when he forced her into the marriage. Hume toh laga tha ki aap...

Khushi tumse baath karnee hai----

Shaadi karnee hogee, che mainho ke liye, varna main tumhari behan ki shaadi apni bhai aakash ke saath nahin hone doonga...

Hume toh laga tha ki aap...

He remembered how he was close to confess his feelings and also hinted her about it while all he did was force her into a marriage out of HATRED..!!

"Because I hate you! Tum is sab ki layak ho"

He remembered her confused eyes at all his accusations. 'She deserved this?'

Her eyes when she questioned or rather urged him to complete the sentence after the heer-ranjha act.. "hamesha, hamesha, kya?"

"Nahin, voh aap the. Arnav singh raizada" he remembered her protest.

Seriously, after all that he had done to her, she still wanted him to confess. As his memory lane progressed, he realized that the protest was nothing when compared to her later acts.

He remembered her imaginary explanation of her 'wedding' to her friends, her discussion about him as husband in her imaginary way with her mother. She dint have to do that, she never had to stuck with him in the first case, but she did, she accepted as it was, because may be she wasn't aware of the truth yet.

"agar app soch sakthe hai ki hamara shyam ji ke saath koi naajayish rishta hai, agar aap intne girihuwi soch rakhthe hai, toh aap ke soch aap ko mubaraq, hume aapko koi safaii nahin dena"

"aapne wahin dekha, jo aap dekhna chathe the, aapne wahin suna jo aap sunna chahthe the"

He bloody well did take the way he wanted! Or rather, the way he didn't want. Yes, He never wanted all that he assumed to be true, but his brains believed his eyes and smoked his vision with hatred. Hatred not because she might have cheated him or his Di, because he would have to think of her that way, if this makes any sense. Only Arnav singh raizada could understand what it takes to give her pain in a way punishing his own self, because putting her or seeing her in pain is in itself a mere punishment, which he had been giving to himself consciously or unconsciously.

"Mat jayiye..."

Why khushi, why??? 'mujhe rokhna zarrori kyun hai, tumahreliye?, mujhe dhoondna zaroori kyun hai? Jab sab ne yakeen karliya ki main theek hun, tumhe mujhe doondne ki zarrorat kyat thi? Mujhe apne haal pe choddiya hota khushi, jab main tumhare baton par yakeen nahin kar rahoon, tumhe mujhe chodke jaana chahiye tha, should have left me Damit! Door jana chahiye tha mujhse, chodna chahiye tha mujhe mere haal pe, why khushi WHY? Kam se kam tumhare saath itna sab kuch toh nahin hota, you don't deserve this dammit..!!!

He banged his hand this time so hard that it resulted in a much thudding sound which alerted the nearby people in the hospital.

"Fast, her pulse rate is decreasing.." He heard the doctor passing by and was quickly snapped out of his thoughts. Within the next moment he was right beside the doctor.

"Wht---what happened, she was fine right? Achanak kya huwa" he was only answered with a rushing doctor into ICU and a closed door on his face. He was left on one side of the door, while his Khushi was lying on the other side with all kinds of machines covering her little petite body. He clutched at the rim of the door, --"Khushi" he breathed closing his eyes and when he glanced back her, he saw a sudden stroke of jerk from her body under the oxygen machine. He wondered if its voice that alerted her. He called again--"Khushi" this time more clearly and more profoundly.

She started letting out big breathes under the oxygen indicating she is responding. Then in order to keep her heart beat steady and normal for further to operate on her, the doctors brought the emergency shock treatment units. As they were about to place the black units on her heart, Arnav's heart went out in pain. He couldn't see her like this; He clutched the rim more with his burning fingers. They placed the machine on her heart and her entire body jolted up with a sudden upwards jerk.

"Khushi..." He uttered for what seemed like hundredth time in that area. His heart clenched seeing her in that condition. With every jerk of her body, his hand would go up along with her, his fist would close in control and whole body ached along with her. How he wished to ease away all the pain and put her back to comfort.

But...

"Kya dard denewala kabhi dard mitaneke layak bansaktha hai?

Would a pain giver will ever be able to heal the pain?

Sorry if this felt like a filler/boring, I seriously want to think of a proper insight of his regression..! Next if you'd like to know more, will surely have a progress..!!
