Today she could see no stars just darkness. They were gone, even they had left her and so she had decided to set off as well.

He hurried into the room after a quick glass of water, his hands fumbled and recklessness over him. He needed to hurt someone, the person responsible but she kept him rooted. She needed him, those three words was that was required to hold him down.

The doctor, a lady in the mid fifties opened the door to his room just as he reached it, a grave expression on her face. She just nodded, indicating him to enter.

"Mr. Raizada, no she has not been raped but some did try to. She is weak both physically and emotionally. The trauma may have been the reason for her withdrawal, or let me put it as an impetus. However, there may be more than one reason behind her condition. I cannot say anything further for sure after all it is not my field of expertise. Please take tender care of her. She will be back soon." She added, noting the devastated expression on Arnav's face.

He crumbled besides her as the doctor left them, unable to hold it together. This was his entire fault, it wasn't just the guilt speaking, it was also a gut feeling. He was sure.

"Bhai, we need to talk" Payal entered a few minutes after the doctor left followed by a grim looking Akash, who shut the door behind him.

"Have you figured out what is wrong with her?" Payal inquired an accusation in her voice. "I told Di, only half of the truth. I didn't find her in the morning. I didn't find her here, in bed, and I didn't go looking for her, her pain drew me here."

He just nodded, each word being etched into his soul, Akash just lent a comforting hand.

"Have you guessed who did this yet or are you going to wait for the truth to hit you in the face?" her words rang in the open room, her voice mimicked the previous once she had confronted him.

"It was Shyam! Was he not the reason you married her? Had it not been for me, she would never have let this matter go. She did not say anything because I would lose Akash, and you would lose Di."

He just stared at her face unblinking, his voice surrendering to the onslaught of emotions, this throat constricting painfully.

Her eyes softened suddenly, her gaze moving to the figure on the bed.

"I heard her scream for you five days ago and I walked in wondering if she was having a nightmare but I couldn't open the door, it was locked. I knocked but she did not answer, I just heard muffled screams and cries. Akash broke open the door a while later and we found Khushi lying on the ground, bruises and all, we knew even before'" a shudder ran through her body and tears gathered in her eyes. "The poolside window was open; I suppose he ran out from there hearing us."

"I know one thing, she loves you, from a very long time but she figured it out during the Sangeet I guess. Only you can make her come back. She is like my child, I raised her, she was eight and I was eleven. I took her in and held her through the dark nights, when she did not accept Babuji and Amma as her own.I want her back, my Khushi, just the way she was."

She took determined steps towards him and raised his eyes to met hers, "Leave the past behind, I see the pain in her eyes, reflected in yours, just bring her back. You can reach her heart, for it beats for you. We will help you with it, Akash, Di, Nani and I. Call out to her she will answer."

"But ' "

"He will pay for his deeds, she needs you the most. Akash has handled him for now, till both Di and Khushi are ready to meet him again."

Suddenly, his world had shifted, he longer was the commanding authority, Payal was, no longer did his world revolve around his little family ' Di and himself, Khushi was the Sun.

He had no energy to rage, storm or avenge his Khushi, his life was she and when there was no Khushi, there could be no Arnav.

He hardly realized the noise of the door closing as Akash and Payal left; he just gazed at her face as the moonlight danced around it giving her an ethereal feel.
