Part 27

He gently kissed her lips and pulled back while she looked at him confused.

He stared at her intently and said,"Once you get well,we'll have it!"and winked at her.

She turned red and held out her arms to hug him.He bent forward as they embraced for a few minute.They broke off and Maan took her hand in his and said,"Geet,we will leave home today,okay?"

She smiled and nodded.

Maan carried Geet to their room and laid her on the bed.

"Maan.."she began while he ignored it and said,"After all that happened,you still think that I will let you sleep alone?Close your eyes and go to sleep!"

She growled in anger as Maan shut the door and walked away.

"Hello?Auntie?You asked me to call you.Any problem?"Maan asked worried.

"No Maan.I just wanted to tell you that you must be changing her dressing every 12 hours and make sure that she has her tablets on time.Make her open up to you Maan.Make her trust you that you will never leave her.

"Make her feel like she is loved.Pamper her,tease her and sometimes even play along with her but DO NOT blast on her.Because she may feel very left out.Break the wall she has built around herself slowly.Is that clear?"

"Yes,auntie"Maan said as he hung up the phone.

At the commissioner Office,Delhi:

The police were running here and there collecting threats from the fax machines.They were contacting with the higher officials to issue security for the important people of Delhi.

The commissioner Raj Vardhan Singh was pissed off at the near 20 threats they have received from the Maoists,Al Qaeda and the other terrorist groups targeting the politicians and MPs.

He was confused as of what to do when another fax arrived.He panickingly opened it and nearly fainted.

The words were clearly printed

"Save Maan Singh Khurana's life if you can."

Maan entered the kitchen and saw Vicky and Annie preparing something.

"What are you guys doing?"he asked crossing his arms over his chest.

Annie was startled that she dropped the egg she was holding on Vicky's head.Vicky had bent down to check whether the cake was baked in the oven fixed below the stove when Annie dropped the egg on him.

He glared at her while Maan burst out laughing!

Annie and Vicky were surprised.They hadn't seen him laugh-because of them!

Maan held his stomach as he went towards Annie and Vicky and said,"I will do something!"

"What?You!"vicky said as he looked at maan in horror.

"haan,kyun nahi?I cook well!"Maan said as he boasted.

"What?!bhai you and cooking well?!Remember the last time you were supposed to cook for Rags di?You burnt the entire food that we had to order it from the restaurant!"Vicky said as annie and he laughed.

"So What?People make mistakes,right and so did I!"maan said trying hard to control his embarrassment.

Vicky and annie shook their head when Nakul entered saying politely,"Sir,the commissioner has come here."

"Commissioner?"Maan, Vicky and Annie said in chorus.

Maan placed a hand on Vicky's shoulder and said,"You prepare something and give Geet.I will come soon."

Maan went to meet the commissioner who stood up when he came.

They shook hands formally and the commissioner was hesitant to start.

"Sir,you wanted to tell me something?"Maan asked.

"Yes,Mr.Khurana."he began as he briefed the threat Maan received.

Maan asked,"So?"

The commissioner took a deep breath and said,"the government will be providing you with the necessary security including 4 black cats for you and your siblings."

"But why?I already have my body guard who are capable!"Maan said terribly angry at the thought of 12 body guards who would surround him.

After a lot of debating maan gave up saying,"fine.But they would stay at a considerable distance from me."

The commissioner nodded and took his leave while Maan went to Geet's room.

It was about 10 PM when Maan had had his dinner and retired to their bedroom.Annie and Vicky left as soon as he came while Geet was sleeping peacefully.

He sat on the bed and caressed her wound.He saw her flinch with pain when he blew over it.

Maan changed into his vests and lied down beside Geet.He felt himself drifting into sleep when he felt Geet abruptly sit up straight.

"Geet?"he called out as she turned and hugged him tight.

"geet,baby,what's wrong?"he asked her calming her down.

"Brij veerji killed you because..because you..you stared at me"she said between sobs.

"shh..mujhe kuch nahi hoga Geet..Calm down"he said but she dug her nails in his arms while she continued crying.

"Nothing will happen."Maan said as he made her lie on his chest.He felt the sobs subside and Geet slowly sleeping.

He looked at her while she slept and felt the similar warmth spread inside his soul.

He kept on caressing her hair and he too drifted into sleep.
