Khushi was very aware of Arnav's presence as soon as he entered her home. She was unable to concentrate on making polite conversation with her relatives, because everywhere she went she knew his eyes followed, watching her every move raptly.
She chided herself mentally. She was supposed to be mad at him! How could she let him get to her, this wedding was clearly just for show and not real.
But one look into his molten eyes and all thoughts of the phone call flew out of her mind.
Hai Devi Maiyya! She needed to talk to him fast! Or she was going to go mental.

If she looked good in the trying room, she was looking a million times better than that, this very moment. Maybe it was the way she kept avoiding his eyes or the way her cheeks were stained pink. Arnav's staring session at the beautiful girl in purple was interrupted by his insolent cousin.
"Nannav, mere bhai ye chooopke chooopke kya dekh rahe ho? Ab toh Khushi ji tumhari hi kiwi banne wale hai." He said in his horrible hindi and stupid smile.
"Should I even bother to tell you how many things were wrong with what you said?" Everyone else may think that NK's attempts were cute, but Arnav didn't buy it. Nor correct him in that case. He found it a waste of time. "And I know English. Everyone does. So save me the torture NK."
"Itna ghoosa Nannav!"
"It's Arnav!" He snapped.
"Whatever. I just never pegged you as one of those shy Dulha types."
Shy dulha type. Shy dulha type? SHY DULHA TYPE!?
If looks could kill, Nandkishore would be a tortured, dead man. But since they didn't, and NK was still standing in front of Arnav, perfectly at ease with the stupid smile still etched on his face, Arnav had to settle for proving NK wrong.
He took a long look at Khushi, with determination, and then proceeded to make his way over to her.
He stood beside her. Khushi tried to control her raging heartbeat and Arnav thought about how to begin saying anything to her. However, before Arnav could even say anything to her, his Nani and Shashi announced that it was now the auspicious time for the engagement to take place. Akash held the ring Arnav was going to put on Khushi and Payal held the ring that Khushi was going to put on Arnav.
The rings would make them official. This thought had Arnav feeling a new set of emotions all together, forgetting the nervousness that he was fighting just a few moments earlier.
Arnav went first. He picked the ring up from where it was placed on the red pillow and looked straight at Khushi, a look of challenge in his eyes. He slipped the ring into her fingers with a smirk.
Khushi Kumari Gupta, you are mine. What are you going to do about it?
But Khushi was never one to back down from a challenge. One look at his face, and Khushi quickly picked up the other ring from the red pillow on her side. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she slipped the ring onto his finger with a rolling of the tongue in her mouth.
Arnav Singh Raizada now you are also mine. Khushi Kumari Gupta never backs down from a challenge.
When were the two going to realize that they were both on the same side?
With the engagement out of the way, the dancing had started. As soon as family and friends made their way to the living room for some dancing, Payal cornered Khushi and took her by the arm to a secluded area.
"I told you that whatever it was, you had to fix it Khushi." She immediately rounded on her, not giving her a chance to justify herself. "Others might not be able to see it but I am your older sister Khushi. Jeth ji is going crazy and even Akash ji had said something about him being too preoccupied with his thoughts to do any work. Do you know what he's preoccupied with?" When Khushi didn't answer Payal continued, "I am telling you the last time, Khushi. Please talk to him."
When Payal left Khushi alone to her thoughts, she took the support of the pillar to keep herself steady. He thought about them so much that his work was being stunted? This was Arnav Singh Raizada they were talking about.
So finally she decided that she would forgive Arnav Singh Raizada for being Arnav Singh Raizada.
Because she had missed talking to him before she went off to sleep. Just a little.
She smiled.

"Khushi, I need to talk to you." His voice was hesitant, Khushi sighed with relief. She was just looking for him.
"It's okay. I already know what you're going to say."
"You do?" His confusion was evident.
"Jiji told me."
"How did she find out? I never told her."
Khushi hmmph-ed in agitation "Some things don't need to be said!"
Arnav, however, was still confused. "But'"
"Just promise you'll call me every night? I've gotten used to hearing your voice before I go to sleep."
Arnav was touched by the innocence in her voice. "I promise."
She smiled and turned to walk away. "Khushi?" Him calling her, made her turn around.
"I'm sorry."
"I thought Arnav Singh Raizada never said sorry?" the teasing lilt in her voice made him smirk.
"Sometimes even Arnav Singh Raizada makes exceptions." And for his wife-to-be, anytime he added silently to himself.
"Chotey! The guests have gone. We are leaving now!" He heard his sister shout from somewhere down the hall, on the other side of the door.
"I'm leaving." Arnav pointed out.
"I know."
"Bye.." He leaned in closer, she inhaled his musky scent"..Fiance." He said in that oh so husky voice. And with the very same lips he had just uttered those words with he kissed her on the cheek.
She stood, mesmerized as he walked away.
That night, Khushi looked at her ring and thought of Arnav.
That night, Arnav boarded his plane to London.
It was so sweet of him to apologize for the phone call.
Khushi took the news of London, better than I thought she would.
Eight and a half hours later Arnav arrived in London.
And Khushi was fast asleep in Delhi, unaware her fiance left the country.
