Chapter 3
He reaches there and is shocked at the sight that he was witnessing
Khushi on top of a chair ... yellin on top of her voice and behaving drunk ... laughing at almost after every word she uttered... and payal trying to control her ...
Payal: Khushi yeh tujhe kya hogaya hey.. ab yeh naya natak kya hey... pehle hi mummyji hum dono ko...(looks down with shame) aur agar unhone tumhe aise dekh liya toh zindagi bhar taane...(khushi took over)
Khushi: zindagi bhar? ha ha ha arrey jiji ... sirf 5 mahine aur ... aur phirrr(Arnav appears in front of her)
Payal: 5 mahine? yeh tu kya badbada rahee hey ... paagal ho gayee hey tu .. uthro neeche...(sees arnav) Arnavji .. yeh khushi ko patah nahin kya hogaya hey..
Arnav: (holding her)Khushi... Khushi ... yeh tum .. yeh kya kar rahee ho ...khushi...
Khushi:(Swaying side to side)Chup ... bilkul Chup... bade aaye laad governor...jiji inse kaho ... ki hume aur thang na kare... hum yahan busy hey... he he he
Payal: Khushi ... yeh tum kya keh rahee ho... hosh main aao...
Khushi: jiji .. kya tum bhi.. hume kya hua hey ... hum toh seedhe seedhe kahde hey... yeh tum log ho jo ghoome jaa rahe ho...
aur haan anjaliji se kaho na.. mujhe ek aur glass lassee pila de.. bada hi mazzeddaar tha... kassam se jiji ... bahut hi accha tha.. kaho na...
Arnav understood y shyam was panicking when he learnt that the drink he made for him... khushi had consumed it...
He quickly acted now:
Arnav: Payal tum jao ... aur khushi ko main sambhaloonga... aur kisi ko is baat ke baare mein mat batana... aakash ko bhi nahi...main ise kamre mein le jaata hoon... agar koi pooche toh batana.. ki khushi ke sar mein dard tha toh woh so rahee hey...
Payal: ji...
Arnav: khushi chalo uthro tum...aur chalo mere saat
Khushi: nahin... hum nahin uthrenge...aur hume nahin jaana aapke saat...
Arnav: (Gritting his teeth)khushi stop fussing ..nahin toh!!
Khushi: nahin toh ... ab kiska wasta doge? ha?
without wasting anymore time he pulls khushi on his left shoulder and moves from there ...
Khushi: arrey hume chodiye... kya samajhte he apne aap ko .chodiye hume... nahin toh hum chillaenge ...
Arnav: SHUT UP Khushi... Unbelievable...ab mujhe yeh sab bhi sambhalna pad raha hey...
He reaches the room quickly and locks the door... drops her on the bed
Kushi: Aap...
Arnav: shhh...ab chup chap yahan padee raho... (turning away from her with one hand clutching his hair and the other on his waist)..patah nahin mujhe aur kya kya karna padega... disgusting (he was actually venting out the anger that he had on shyam .. all the while thinking how could that hell of a person dare to do sucha thing)
Khushi: arrey ... par humne kiya kya? (trying to sit up)
Arnav: (Rushing back and pointing his finger in a threatening manner)yahan se hilna bhi mat... agar uthne ki koshish bhi ki na...
That was it ... Khushi got up fuming and applying watever strength she could gather holding his finger ...
Khushi: phir se dhamki ...(with unsteady steps). aapne kya samajh rakha hume? hai? jab chahe ... jaise chahe ... pesh aayenge...aapka kya haq banta hey ha?
Arnav: JUSSS SHUTUP... main pehle se bahut pareshaan hoon... aur tumhari in fizool ki baaton main mujhe nahin padna...apni haalat toh dekho...
Khushi: Fizool ki baaten?aap jo kahe woh theek aur hum jab kuch bhi kahe ... toh galat? (on top of her voice) aur hamari haalat?.. kaun zimmedar hai hamare is haalat ka...
They share an eyelock for few seconds
Not able to handle it Khushi pushes arnav to the corner of the bed making him to forcefully sit ...arnav all shocked and glares at her...
With teary eyes she comes closer and looks into his eyes...holds him by his collor and with a meek voice just enuf for him to hear ..(in a drunk state) ...
Khushi: 'Kyun kiya yeh sab... arnavji... kyun?
'ek baar humse kehke toh dekhte... hum toh apni jaan bhi de dete ...uske liye aapne aise ... '
Closes her eyes making herself face down and weeps ...'sirf ek baar arnavji...'
Arnav is all confused not knowing where this is all leading to ...
She raises her head and moves a little away from arnav with her unsteady feet .. swaying her hands n says
'Par nahi ... aap toh Laad Governer jo tehare ...apni kismat khud likhne wale... aur haan apne saat hamari kistmat bhi...'
Arnav gritting his teeth gets up to steady her
Arnav: Khushi tum... he is cut off and khushi gestures with her hand to stop...
Khushi: 'haan haan pata hey ki aap humse nafrat karte hey .. aur patah nahin ki hume 5 mahine aur kaise bardash karenge...wagera wagera'
With a sad face again n tears flowing she begins to walk away from arnav in the opposite direction facing her back to him like a penguin(hehe)
Khushi: 'aapko kya lagta hey sirf aap sab kuch bardash kar rahe hey... aur hum .. aur hum jo bardash kar rahe hey uska kya ...? ek taraf aap ... toh doosri taraf woh kameena insan..'gritting her teeth...
Arnav with a curious shocked face...looks in direction where she is standing...
just managed to blurt a 'what?' feeble enough only for him to hear his voice ... he continued to listen
Khushi: ek ne dhoka de kar humse sagai ki ... toh doosre ne dhamki de kar humse shaadi ki...
jisse humne kabhie pyaar hi nahin kiya ..us besharam aadmi ne devi jaisi patni ke hote hue bhi humse rista rakhna chahta hey... par jisse humne pyaar... (voice completely chokes) usne sharton ke buniyad pe humse rista joda(lets out a laugh and then suddenly starts weeping again)
And by then her feet gives away and she falls on the ground ...
Arnav totally engrosed in those words ... but not able to think straight ...sagai? patni? how are all these connected? and what exactly was she refering to?
he was so lost in his thots that he actually did not notice she having fallen down...
Arnav: Khushi...(quickly ran to her .. picked her up and put her on the bed and when abt to lift himself up ... he was felt a slight pull.. she was holding onto his shirt. he is reminded of the similar incidences that had taken place in the past)
Gently pulled her hands out and placed it on her stomach...
He ran his fingers on her face and moved the strands of hair that were covering his wife's face. he traced his fingers down her cheeks ... and closed his eyes ...then tightened his fists moving away from face... he got up with force and started pacing up and down the room ...
he was still not able to figure out clearly what she spoke... he was confused whether it was the effect of the drink that took its toll on her and made her blabber all nonsense? but again no .. she did refer to many a things he could associate to ...all that she said started playin again in his mind...
'aapko kya lagta hey sirf aap sab kuch bardash kar rahe hey'
'ek taraf aap'
'toh doosre ne dhamki de kar humse shaadi ki...'
He clearly knew she was referrin to him when she said those ... but he when he again recollected the last sentence ...
'par jisse humne pyaar... usne sharton ke buniyad pe humse rista joda'... did she mean that? was that for me?
he again continued his restless walk... but who exactly was she refering to the other person?
'toh doosri taraf woh kameena insan..'
'ek ne dhoka de kar humse sagai ki'... sagai? why was she talking abt her mangetar?
He put his hands at the back of his head and held tight .. as if trying hard to stop it from exploding... just then there was a knock at the door..
