Arnav gave up after trying Anjali's phone thrice.

Arnav:Ya toh Aakash aur Paayal wapas aa gaye hain or else nani aa gayi hongi,isiliye di ne call cut kar dia and... may be galti se phone off kar dia hoga.Sms kar deta hoon.

He sends the following msg to Anjali:Di,m at home,meeting cancelled.Call me as soon as u can.

Arnav:Jab phone switch on karengi,toh dekh lengi.

Suddenly a thought crosses his mind.

Arnav:Phone? Of course!

He goes out of his room,towards the stairs leading to the living room.

Arnav:Hari Prakash!.. Hari Prakash!..

HP(comes running,with Lakshmi in tow):Woh.. Arnav bhaiyya,hum Lakshmiji ko khana khila rahe the isiliye.. der ho gayi. Abhi bana dete hain coffee!

Arnav:No.. thats ok,ab coffee nahi chahiye.Tum bas cordless lekar mere kamre me aa jao. Mere.. phone ki battery down ho gayi hai.

HP:Khushi bhabhiji ne bataya tha ki aapke mobile ka charger aapke almarih ki daraaz me rakha hai unhone.

Arnav:Maine jitna kaha utna karo! Fast!

Lakshmi bleats while looking up at Arnav.

Arnav:Pehle ise nani k kamre me chhodkar aana,varna subha ki tarah phir se Khushi ko dhundhte huye mere kamre tak aa jayegi.

HP:Ji bhaiyya,hum bas abhi aaye.Chaliye Lakshmiji..

Arnav smiles as he enters his room.

Arnav:Jab Khushi ko Aman se pata chalega ki maine office me dinner nahi kiya,toh woh zaroor landline par phone karegi,HP se poochhne k liye,k maine ghar par dinner kiya ya nahi?

He recalls Anjali telling him that Khushi's preparing sugarfree kheer for him.

Arnav:Ab toh sabse pehle tumhare haathon se,tumhare haathon ki kheer hi khaunga!

*********Back to the present:Arnav & Khushi in Arnav's SUV***********

Khushi:Oh..!Tabhi aapne kheer ka poora katora chatt kar dia!

Arnav:Aisa nahi hai Khushi.Kheer sach me bahut achchhi bani thi!

Khushi:Shukriya!Waise,Lakshmiji humein dhoondhne kamre me aayi thi?Kab?

Arnav:Main office k liye nikalne wala tha,tab.Ek toh pehle hi mera mood kharab tha,tum bina bataye jo chali gayi! Phir woh aa gayi,jale pe namak chhidakne!

*Flashback*

Arnav opens the door of his room to find Lakshmi sitting there.

Arnav:What the..!?

As soon as he opens the door,Lakshmi gets up and quickly enters his room.

Arnav:Hey.. wait! Hari Prakash...!

HP(shouts):Do minute bhaiyya,rasoi me hain,aa rahe hain...!

Lakshmi bleats,looking around for Khushi.

Arnav:Get out,now!
Not paying any heed to Arnav and not finding Khushi in the room,she goes to the poolside to look for her.

Arnav:Dammit!!Woh yahan nahi hai,Khushi,she's not here!

Hearing Khushi's name,Lakshmi re enters the room,looks at Arnav and bleats even louder.

Arnav:Yeah,u heard it right,Khushi nahi hai,isiliye ab tum bhi jao.(he points his finger towards the door)Leave!

As if understanding everything,she leaves the room.

*Flashback*

Khushi:Bichari Lakshmiji! Hum jane se pehle unse milna bhool gaye!

Arnav:Really!?Tum kisi or se bhi milna bhool gayi thi Khushi!
Anyways,ab woh chhodo, yeh batao,ki tumne ghar pe HP ko phone kyun nahi kia?

Khushi:Humne Amanji ko 3 baar phone kia,teeno baar unka phone vyast aa raha tha. Phir humne office me phone kia,toh kisine uthaya hi nahi.Phir amma ne hume khana khane k liye bula liya.Phir khakar uthe,toh buaji ne rasoi k kaam k liye bula liya.Rasoi se kamre me aaye nahi ki aapki gaadi ki aawaaz aa gayi,aur yeh baat hamare dimaag se nik... (she feels something,like a cut,between his fingers)Arnavji?Yeh kya hua?

Arnav(who had been holding her hand,quickly withdraws his hand):A.. nothing!

Khushi:Ek minute,dikhaiye toh..

Arnav:Relax Khushi.Yeh.. kuch bhi nahi hai.

Khushi:Ek minute!! Hath mat hataiyye!

She switches on the light inside the car and what she sees leaves her immensely shocked.

Khushi:Arnav..ji... yeh.. yeh chotein kaise lagi aapko?

She checks the gap between his fingers,and to her horror,she finds several cuts between all his fingers,on both his hands,as though something sharp has cut through his skin.

Arnav doesnt respond to her.

Khushi:Boliye naa!Yeh..

Suddenly realization dawns upon her.

Khushi(cupping his face):Hamari taraf dekhiye.. bataiyye,kya yeh aapne kiya hai?

Arnav looks down,unable to say anything.

Khushi throws her arms around him and hugs him tightly.

Arnav:Khushi...

Khushi:Kyun Arnavji?Aapne apne aap ko chot kyun pahuchayi?Aapko andaza bhi hai ki aapki chot dekhkar humein kitna dard hua?

Arnav(swallows a lump):Maine in hi haathon se tumhe bahut dard dia hai,Khushi. Tumhari kalhai marod di,tumhari bahein jakad li,tumhe bahut chot pahuchayi hain. In haathon ko saza toh milni hi thi!

Khushi(looks at him,tears running down her cheeks):Saza!?Aapko khud ko saza dene ka itna hi shauk hain toh humse kaha hota,hum dete aapko saza!Aur waise bhi,aapke hisaab se agar aapne humein chot pahuchayi hai,toh saza dene ka haq hamara banta hai,aapne khud k haathon me yeh baat kaise le li?

She looks at his fingers.

Khushi:Is tarah se aapne khud k alava humein bhi saza di.

Arnav:M sorry,Khushi.Main..

Khushi:Bas! Ab hum aapko is k liye saza denge.

She keeps both his hands on her head.

Khushi:Humari kasam khakar kahiye ki aaj k baad,aap kabhi bhi,apneaap ko yoon chot nahi pahuchayenge,phir chahe aapse koi bhi galti kyun na hui ho?Wada kariye,khaiyye kasam!
Arnav(overwhelmed ):I.. promise!

Khushi hugs him and kisses his forehead.

Khushi:Kaise kiya yeh aapne?

Arnav:Dustbin me tumhari tooti hui choodiyon k tukde..

Khushi keeps her hand on his mouth.

Khushi:Bas!

She kisses his fingers.

Khushi:Aapne jaanbhuj kar ungliyon k beech apneaap ko chot di naa?Taaki kisi ko.. taaki humein nazar na aaye?

Arnav nods.

Khushi:Hum aapki patni hai,Arnavji!Aapke aar-paar dekh sakte hain hum!

Arnav gives a faint smile.

Khushi(sighs):Lekin phir bhi... ek bahut badi galti ho gayi humse..

She looks at Arnav,who gives her an understanding look.

Khushi:Humein ab tak baat theek se samajh nahi aayi Arnavji.. humse aapko parakhne me itni badi galti,kahan.. kaise ho gayi?

Arnav:Main tumhe batata hoon,Khushi.Tumhari is galti ki wajah bhi meri hi galti hai.

She looks at him,unable to get the meaning of his words.

Arnav:Either Aakash n Paayal r back or else nani must have come back,thats y di had to cut the call and... may b she accidently switched her phone off.Let me sms her.

Arnav:She'll the sms once she switches on the phone.

HP(comes running,with Lakshmi in tow):A.. Arnav bhaiyya,I was.. feeding Lakshmiji so I couldnt get ur coffee..I'll just get it for u!

Arnav:No.. thats ok,I dont need coffee anymore.U just bring the cordless to my room.My.. phone's battery's down.

HP:Khushi bhabhiji had told me that she's kept ur mobile charger is in the drawer of ur cupboard.

Arnav:Do what I told u to do! Fast!

Lakshmi bleats while looking up at Arnav.

Arnav:First u leave her in nani's room and then get me the cordless,else she'll come to my room again,looking for Khushi.

HP:Ji bhaiyya,I'll just come.Come here,Lakshmiji...

Arnav smiles as he enters his room.

Arnav:When Aman will tell Khushi that I havent had dinner at office,she will immediately call up HP on the landline to know whether I've had dinner at home or not?

He recalls Anjali telling him that Khushi's preparing sugarfree ricepudding for him.

Arnav:Now the first thing I'll have is the rice pudding u've made for me,that too from ur own hands!

*************Back to the present:Arnav & Khushi in Arnav's SUV**********

Khushi:Oh..!No wonder u finished the entire bowl full of rice pudding!

Arnav:Its not lyk dat,Khushi.The rice pudding was indeed very tasty!

Khushi:Thanks!Wen did Lakshmiji come to r room to look for me?

Arnav:When I was leaving for office.My mood was already off,since u left without telling me.To top it up,she came to the room,to rub salt on my wounds!

*Flashback*

Khushi:Y Arnavji?Y did u hurt urself?Do u even realize how much Im hurt to see ur hurt like this?

Arnav(swallows a lump):I have given u a lot of pain with these very hands,Khushi.I twisted ur wrists,I shook ur shoulders,I gave u immense pain and many bruises.These hands deserved to be punished!

Khushi(looks at him,tears running down her cheeks):Punished!?If uwere so keen to punish urself ,u couldve told me,I wouldve readily punished u!And in any case,if u believe u r at fault and u have hurt me,I should b the one to decide the punishment,y did u take matters in ur hands?

She looks at his fingers.

Khushi:This way u not only punished urself but u also punished me!

Arnav:M sorry,Khushi.I..

Khushi:Enough!Now its time I punish u for this!

She keeps both his hands on her head.

Khushi:Touch my head and promise me that never ever will u hurt urseld again! U will never physically punish urself,no matter what crime u have committed.Now come on,promise me!

Arnav(overwhelmed ):I.. promise!

Khushi hugs him and kisses his forehead.

Khushi:How did u do this?

Arnav:There were pieces of ur broken bangles in the dustbin.I..

Khushi keeps her hand on his mouth.

Khushi:Enough!

She kisses his fingers.

Khushi:U knowingly hurt urself betwen ur fingers,so that noone,so that I am not able to see it,right?

Arnav nods.

Khushi:M ur wife,Arnavji!I can see through u!

Arnav gives a faint smile.

Khushi(sighs):Still... I committed a big mistake..
