Chapter Eight

Kripa paused hesitantly before knocking on her parent's bedroom door. Her parents were always very supportive towards her but recently her mother had become more anxious and uptight. Of course she knew her mother was only just worried about her but sometimes she did seem to exaggerate.
"Kripa" her father mumbled rubbing his eyes
"Dad" she looked up culpably "Sorry. Were you asleep?"
"No" he shook his head "not really, come in" he said pulling her in
She looked around the room uncomfortably. The room was dimly lit giving a serene feel. The bed was scattered with papers, most probably her father's work while her mother sat at the edge of the bed, a cookery book resting on her lap "Did I disturb?" she asked uneasily
"No Kripa" Satya exclaimed holding her shoulders from behind "you tell me. Why aren't you asleep yet?"
She turned to look at her father then back at her mother who gazed at her with concern. She bit her lip then looked at her father "actually dad, our academy is entering a singing and dancing competition for the kids"
He smiled in response "that's good"
Kripa smiled softly "it is, but anyways two members of staff are going. Everyone has sort of backed out because, well you know there married or they've got kids" she shrugged "so that kind of leaves me as the only option"
"Okay" he answered slowly "What's the problem?"
Kripa glanced towards her mother tentatively before looking directly at her father "it's in Masoori" she muttered then looked down "and it's for five days"
"Oh" he mumbled rubbing his neck. His eyes moved to see Roshini's reaction. She didn't look happy at all.
"That's too long" Roshini said putting her book aside "tell them you can't do it"
"Mom, dad" Kripa sighed "I know it's far and long but everyone's kind of depending on me"
Satya frowned "well they can't really expect you to travel because you have no responsibility"
"No, no dad. Don't get them wrong. Dadi has put an ultimatum that if no one agrees then she'll just choose and they will have to go. It could be me or it could be one of them" she shrugged "but everyone's got problems going. I feel really bad because I don't really have a proper reason not to go"
"What reason Kripa? Give me an example. I'm pretty sure they can all manage just fine" her father answered slightly angry
"Dad" she took his hand in hers and forced him to sit next to her mother "I wouldn't even consider if they didn't seem reasonable enough. Please dad. Geet can't go because her husband won't let her"
"Well we're not letting you go either" her mother retaliated
"Mom, you're the one that always says everything changes after marriage. It's different with husbands and parents" she reasoned kneeling in front of them "I promise I'll be careful. I'll call you every day. Honestly I'll feel really guilty if one of them has to go. They've all got responsibilities, I haven't"
"Kripa" Satya still looked skeptical "it's a lot of time"
"Dad, I'm a big girl. I can look after myself just fine and anyways what about the kids? There so much smaller than me but there still going"
"That's because their parents know there's someone there to take care of them"
"Mom, Dad" she pouted "I'm not two" she grumbled "I can look after myself just fine. I'm independent and responsible"
Satya cracked a slight smile at her childish pout "Okay fine. You can go" he said stroking her head
She smiled widely then moved forward hugging her father "Thank you so much dad"
"But alone?" Roshini questioned worried
"Mom, I won't be alone" Kripa assured "another staff member will be with me" she mumbled
Her mother sighed shaking her head "and then you won't feel guilty" she muttered "one of them will have to go with you anyways"
Kripa shook her head "One of them have already volunteered" she said looking at her parents carefully "Angad's going"
"Angad" Satya frowned "Anjali's brother" Kripa nodded observing their reactions "He works with you?" he asked confused
She shook her head "sort of, he works in the music department but because this is a singing and dancing competition we're working together"
"Oh" he smiled widely "then we have nothing to worry about" he proclaimed "he's a decent boy"
Kripa nodded in amusement knowing exactly how decent he was. Her eyes turned towards her mother who watched her with scrutiny. She looked away knowing her mother didn't really like the idea "So can I go then?" she asked to confirm
Satya smiled warmly "Of course you can. Have fun" he patted her head "when are you going?"
"Three weeks" she stated then moved forward to hug her father "Thanks dad. Good night"
"Good night, sweet dreams" he mumbled pressing a kiss to her temple
She moved forward wishing her mother goodnight without looking her in the eye and turned on heel. Once she stood outside she breathed a sigh of relief.
After she got home she had sat in deep thought for quite a while. Did she really want to go with Angad? Yes she did. She knew she was attracted to him but she still felt hesitant and unsure at times. He was a charming handsome young man who ruled her senses but her mind strongly protested against this attraction. She knew it was wrong; her mother's gaze said it all. Her principles and liberation said it all. But her heart retaliated. Her heart was pulled closer to him with every passing moment.
She sighed, she could do this! She couldn't let her personal problems affect her professionally.

Two days later Angad and Kripa stood in front of the Music and dance students in a small assembly. The other members sat at the back relaxed. The previous day it had been decided Angad and Kripa would be leading the trip to Masoori. After the staff had been finalized the candidates were finalized and thus started the process of lengthy meetings deciding, discussing the suitable music, dance forms and costumes.
At the present moment Angad and Kripa stood in front of the students telling them all about the competition "Ten children will be participating in this competition" Angad stated looking down at the list before him "Now when we call out your name please stand and come to the front of the hall" he glanced at Kripa who stood beside him slightly lost "Kripa" he nudged
"Huh" she looked up baffled "Oh, Uhhh" she looked around embarrassed then towards Angad
He smiled giving her the list "you announce the names" he mumbled
She nodded pushing her hair out of her face "Sur" she started "Komal, Rohan, Ranveer, Tara, Arjun, Virat, Piya, Abheer and Diya"
One by one all the children lined up at the front of the hall exuberant. They chatted cheerfully pumped up with excitement. Kripa smiled softly watching the children then turned towards Angad with a frown when he nudged her again "What" she muttered
Angad smiled, amused "You've got the consents"
"Oh" she replied flushed looking through the pile of papers in her hands "give me a second"
Angad sighed and dismissed the rest of students after they applauded the competing candidates then turned towards Kripa who was still rummaging through the stack of papers "Kids sit down" he instructed "Kripa" he sighed taking the papers from her hands. He found the consents stacked neatly behind the list of names he had given her a few minutes ago "Kripa" he chuckled giving her the remaining papers "they were right at the front"
Her eyes narrowed, shooting daggers as her cheeks turned a delightful pink "sorry" she muttered
Shaking his head, Angad turned towards the students "Alright kids, first of all congratulations to you all"
The children smiled back widely, beaming "Thank you Sir"
Angad smiled back softly "Okay kids, as I told you all before, this competition will be in Masoori so we'll be going there for five days. Your competition is on the fourth day so we need lots of hard work from all of you"
Kripa smiled faintly at their cute dimpled smiles "Best of Luck" she wished "Before you all go take a letter from Angad Sir. Make sure you give it to your parents and bring them back tomorrow. Okay"
"Yes Ma'am"
Pretty soon the kids were dismissed after being told about the few extra classes. Angad led Kripa to the meeting room to discuss arrangements for the trip while she followed on quietly; a little nervous "Kripa" Angad mumbled holding her hand "why are you so nervous?"
She looked away pulling her hand away "I'm not nervous" she muttered "come on, let's get this meeting over and done with so that we can go home"
Angad smiled shaking his head then pulled out some papers from Kripa's pile of papers. They went through trip policies, grouping arrangements and class schedules for the trip to Masoori while every so often their eyes clashed with apprehension and confusion "you know, you're actually pretty decent when you actually work" Kripa stated closing a file
Angad leaned forward smiling impishly "Oh trust me; I reek of decency" his hands reached out to hold her. She shivered at his touch "you just seem to wake up the roaring lion in me" he mumbled watching her with twinkling eyes
Kripa shuddered with tingling sensation in her tummy when his large hand squeezed hers. Her eyes lowered in shy as she slowly pulled her hand away "I think we should leave now" she murmured avoiding his gaze "it's getting late"
Angad smiled tenderly at her coyness, she looked adorable. He helped her gather the paperwork then walked to the door to open it. He frowned when it didn't open and pulled again. It still remained closed. He tried again then looked towards Kripa's concerned expression when he was unsuccessful "doors locked"
Her nose scrunched in concentration as she stepped forward "here" she said handling him her paperwork "I'll try" she pulled at the door but it refused to budge. After several attempts she looked towards Angad helplessly
"I told you it was locked"
"Yeah well I thought I could open it" she muttered taking her papers back "What shall we do now?"
"So" Misha raised her brow "Where are my pictures?" Sagar smiled impishly as he pulled some pictures out of his backpack "Wow man, your sister in laws really pretty" she mumbled "by the way, I thought you said you didn't have any pictures"
"I didn't" he shrugged "these are Kripa di's collection"
"Oh. She knows you got them right?" she asked curiously
"Uhhh" he looked around here and there then looked towards Misha who was now shaking her head "What?"
"I swear if you were my brother I'd kill you for taking my things without telling me"
He smiled wrinkling his nose "its okay. She'll get a little angry If she finds out but hey, what's new about that?" he chuckled "she's always getting angry at me. It's normal"
Misha sighed flipping through the pictures "yeah I guess" she mumbled "but when they go you miss them just as much"
"Go where?" Sagar asked with a frown
"Get married duffer" she said hitting his head
"Married, Kripa di, hmmm" he looked away in deep concentration "Naaa, no sane man would marry her" he decided laughing while Misha punched him laughing along.
"Mhmm, alright Dadi, we'll wait, just get the caretaker to hurry up" he muttered then laughed "Dadi, I'm a decent guy" he said glancing towards Kripa "alright then, I'll see you tomorrow, love you" he teased "bye" he smiled widely as he hung up then glimpsed at Kripa who gawked at him amused "What?"
"You haven't even left Dadi behind in the flirting department" she mumbled
"What can I say? Everyone just loves me" he stated sitting on the plush leather chairs
Kripa sighed shaking her head sitting right in front of him "You're too full of yourself" she muttered "anyways, what did Dadi say? Whys the door locked?"
"Its past six o clock" he answered glancing at his watch instinctively "the caretaker locks up by six but he didn't really bother checking whether anyone's inside so we're locked in"
"Oh" she murmured. She placed her papers on the desk then looked here and there in boredom once silence surrounded the two. It was quite an unusual silence, normally they would be bickering about something or the other or in Angad's case, he'd be flirting!"
"So?" Angad said leaning his elbows on the table "How's Anju?"
"She's good" Kripa replied tilting her head to the side "she misses all of you a lot but I guess Kavya Bhai has everything under control"
"That's nice to know" he fiddled with his hands then glanced at Kripa "you know I never got to thank you for your support on the wedding" he mumbled gazing at her lovingly
Kripa smiled softly "there's no need for that. I guess it's natural. No matter how much you fight or argue with your siblings, deep down you still love them" she murmured absently "you all must really miss Anjali"
He smiled in response, moving his chair closer to hers "Yeah, we miss her a lot. She was annoying but she's just being Anjali" he bit his lip then looked at her "I really appreciate your understanding that day"
"Angad" her hand moved to press his "it was my duty okay. Uhhh, I mean—"she stopped realizing what she said
Her hand moved to pull away but he caught it before she could "of course it's your duty sweetheart" he winked pressing his lips to hand while she shuddered in response "so you excited for Masoori?"
She frowned at him pulling her hand away "just because I'm being nice doesn't mean you tease me"
"I'm not teasing sweetheart. I know what I'm saying"
"Angad" she warned glaring at him
He smiled widely then stood up kneeling before her "no matter how much you deny I know you feel something for me. You would have never agreed to come to Masoori if you didn't trust me, feel for me"
She pouted looking down at him "I didn't agree for you. I agreed because I felt bad. If I said no then someone else would have to go when they couldn't" she shrugged
"Well that as well but you agreed because you like spending time with me, isn't it?"
"No" she refused avoiding his eyes "you anger me" she muttered
"You know they say that you fight with the person you love the most"
Her eyes met his for brief second then looked away "that's all made up. You anger me because do things that will make me angry"
"That's because you look really cute when your angry" he said tweaking her nose "admit it, you like me"
"I don't" she retorted childishly
"Course you do sweetheart" he murmured pressing a kiss to her cheek while she gasped. She opened her mouth to snap at him but stopped when she heard the door click open.
They both turned to gape at the cleaner pleased and disappointed at the same time. Soon enough the two grabbed their belongings from the staffroom and walked out of the building "come on, I'll drop you home" Angad said taking her hand
She grimaced at the contact and pulled away "its okay, I'll manage" she mumbled "I'll catch a taxi"
"No" he shook his head taking her arm this time "you're coming with me. It's late and anyways I get to meet Anjali that way" he shrugged. She stared at him helplessly as he dragged her along

"This is exactly why I worry so much" Roshini exclaimed glancing at the clock for the tenth time in the last few minutes "Let her come home today. She's in deep trouble. Is this a time to come home?"
"Maasi she'll be home in a while" Kavya assured while he attempted to call Kripa once again
Sagar sat to a side sniggering "Oh this will be a sight to see. Kripa di in trouble"
"Sagar it's not funny" Anjali scolded "she could be in trouble somewhere"
Sagar smiled rolling his eyes "Naaa she's fine. She's okay"
They all turned towards the door when the doorbell went off. Roshini rushed to open the door while the others watched on knowing exactly what was to follow "Kripa" she cried in relief then grimaced when she saw Angad standing beside her
"Mama" Kripa stepped forward with slight frown "What happened? Have you been crying?" she asked worried
"Kripa where were you?" her father questioned coming forward "we've all been worried sick"
"Oh" she mumbled in realization "we got stuck at work"
Angad nodded in agreement "sorry uncle, we should have called you. Actually the caretaker locked us in without realizing we were still inside and well we had to call Dadi to get us out"
Satya sighed in relief hugging Kripa while she looked around in concern and guilt "sorry papa" she whispered "I should have called home"
He shook his head and smiled pressing a kiss to her head "its okay but be careful next time okay" he looked up towards Angad who smiled affectionately "thank you for bringing her home Angad"
"Its okay uncle, it's my duty" he said gazing at Kripa lovingly while she flushed remembering their earlier conversation "I'm glad I dropped her home otherwise she was insisting to come home in a taxi. I thought it's late, it's not safe for her to be out in a taxi this late" he added tongue in cheek
Kripa's timidity turned into glare at his unnecessary comment. He smiled back amorously, his eyes twinkling with mischief "come in Angad" Nitya ushered him in "now that you're here, have dinner okay"
"No, no aunty. There's no need of for that. I just came to drop Kripa" he reasoned "I thought while I'm at it I'll meet Anju"
"Well now that you're here, you're having dinner" Anjali ordered dragging him inside
He chuckled in response following his ever so demanding sister
"Awww" Sagar whined leaning on his knees "Kripa di didn't even get in trouble properly"
They all smiled at the teasing banter while Kripa rolled her eyes

"Dadi don't worry" Kripa assured "everything will be okay"
"No Kripa" she sighed in tension "I can't believe the reservations got mixed up. They are fully booked this week and have us reserved for next week"
"Dadi Kripa's right" Angad said taking her hands "at least we found out before we got there. It would be a bigger problem if we got there and found out we had no reservations"
She nodded in worry then heaved "but what do we do now? This competition was a really good chance for the kids and the academy"
"Dadi we can always make reservation somewhere else" Geet suggested "I'm sure there are a lot of hotels in Masoori"
"That's not the problem Geet. We've enquired with a few hotels but there all booked or are not ready to accommodate children" she leaned back pressing her pressured temples
"Dadi if you don't mind I have a suggestion" Kripa spoke looking a little hesitant
All the eyes turned towards Kripa in curiosity "Go on" the principle encouraged
"Umm I have a house in Masoori" she said "it's not too far from the competition venue and it's a five bedroom house so we can easily accommodate the kids"
"No Kripa" Maya protested "that's not fair on you. It's the academy's responsibility to sort out accommodation" she said glaring at her husband
Angad pressed his lips together to hide his amusement "Dadi, its okay. I'm sure Kripa doesn't mind at all. It's appropriate, I'm sure we'll manage"
"No Angad I would feel really bad. If we have to we'll cancel the trip"
"Uhhh no Dadi" Kripa exclaimed kneeling at her knees "honestly I don't have a problem at all. I'll talk to my parents and I'm pretty sure they would agree with me. Don't cancel. All the children are really looking forward to this trip. We've got all the consents and paperwork in place. We might have to spend a bit of extra time tweaking some bits and bobs but I'm sure we'll have a positive result"
"But Kripa--"
"No Dadi. I'm not taking no for an answer" she pouted crossing her arms cutely
Maya smiled faintly tweaking her cheek "Okay, okay fine. We can use your house for accommodation but what about the other elements. Food and cleaning up" she asked with raised brows
Angad grinned giving Kripa a side glance "I'm pretty sure Kripa knows how to cook and clean Dadi. I mean I'm expecting something edible at least but---"
Kripa glowered shooting daggers at him "I can cook very well thank you very much" she retorted
Geet and Mansi laughed while Maya and the principle looked amused "I'm sure you can cook very well Kripa but you've already got so much responsibility"
"Dadi" her nose wrinkled in complaint "I'm fine. I'll cook and clean. I do it at home every day, it's not hard" she shrugged "just leave it all to us"
Maya glanced at her husband helplessly while he smiled reassuringly "Alright Kripa. Your house is finalized as the accommodation. I want a list of things you will need food and accommodation wise and we will pay rent for the accommodation"
"But sir—"Kripa protested "there's no need"
"No Kripa. I can't accept the offer unless you agree. It's only fair" he pointed smiling softly
Kripa sighed looking towards Angad who blinked his eyes in agreement "Okay sir, I accept. I'll talk to my parents today and get the house cleaned out"
The principle smiled back affectionately "That's a deal then" he turned towards Angad sternly "and you young man will support Kripa as best as you can, with the cooking and cleaning" he ordered
"Oh it's my pleasure sir" he replied winking at Kripa. She frowned at him, pouting dreading the next couple of days

"Hmmm" Kripa sighed leaning against the window in the mini bus. They had set out for their journey to Masoori just over fifteen minutes ago. The kids had finally settled down, seatbelts fastened while they all sang songs along with Angad in glee.
Her face tilted slightly to stare at Angad. He was a very sweet guy. Although he teased her most of the time she could still claim he had a heart of gold. His affection and love was clearly visible with the way he treated everyone. She couldn't think of a single person who would call him a bad man.
Her lifted lips dropped when she noticed he held her hand. She pressed her lips together slowly pulling her hand out of his grip but gasped when he suddenly tightened his grip turning towards her "don't" he mumbled "I like holding your hand"
Her eyes narrowed, her forehead creasing "Angad, you know I don't like you touching me"
"Uhmm" he shook his head leaning towards her "you like it" his hands lifted to move a thick strand of hair from her face, her breath hitched "you look like an angel today, white really suits you" he admired devouring her with his eyes
She blushed a delicious pink, her thick lashes lowered to the lid. She bit on her pink lips nervously, silently struggling out of his hold. He smirked watching her blush rosy; it gave him a strange satisfaction, a quick rush of adrenaline. His blood heated watching her timidity. His other hand rose to lift her chin but the two were disturbed with the racket coming from the back.
They noticed Diya sniffling while Rohan sat with a big frown wiped across his face. The two looked at each other in unison then unplugged their seatbelts kneeling in front of the two kids "What's wrong Diya?" Kripa asked softly wiping her flushed cheeks "why are you crying?"
"Rohan hit her" Tara complained "he pulled her hair then punched her arm"
"Rohan" Angad scolded "that's not the way to behave with a girl. Say sorry" Rohan pouted crossing his arms "Rohan, I said apologize"
"But Diya scribbled all over my coloring book" he whined "she should say sorry too"
Angad looked towards Kripa slightly amused while she smiled faintly. Shaking her head she took Rohan's hand into her hand while taking Diya's hand her other "come on both of you. That's not a reason to hit her Rohan. You should have told us and Diya why did you scribble on Rohan's work. That's not a nice thing to do"
Diya turned her big brown eyes to Rohan then towards Angad and Kripa "it was an accident" she mumbled, her lips trembling "I forgot I had a pen in my hand"
Angad's hand covered Kripa's while he pulled the kids hands together "Rohan, Diya come on say sorry. You were both wrong for scribbling and hitting"
Diya turned to Rohan apprehensively "Sorry Rohan" she mumbled "I'll be careful next time" Rohan's lips twitched but he still remained silent looking away "I'm really Sorry Rohan" she apologized again when he didn't respond
"Its okay" he muttered looking somewhat guilty "I'm sorry for hitting you"
Angad smiled mischievously looking down at Kripa amid his arms smiling softly "Rohan apologize properly" Angad exclaimed "like this" he said pressing a quick kiss on Kripa's soft rosy cheek
Kripa's gasped looking at him wide eyed while the two kids giggled at Angad's tactics. Angad smiled back broadly, his eyes twinkling with impishness. Her face turned bright red as she stood up struggling out of the cage of his arms.
Angad laughed along with the few gawking kids as she ran back to the front all flushed and bothered. He turned towards Diya and Rohan who now beamed with red faces "that's better" he said pinching their cheeks "keep smiling. No fighting okay. If there's a problem come and tell me or Kripa ma'am"
They nodded obediently giggling with pressed lips "Are you Kripa Ma'am's husband?" Abheer questioned from behind
Angad grinned then winked "sure, if you say so. She's my girlfriend"
"Hawww" Tara murmured "Girlfriend!"
Angad smiled shaking his head "Uhmm, See she's my friend and she's a girl" he clarified "so she's my girlfriend"
Tara nodded in bewilderment then chuckled when Angad tickled her, kissing her cheeks.
After a bit of play Angad moved back to his seat to find Kripa blushing bright red like a blossomed rose "just a kiss on the cheek and your all red" he teased "there's more to come sweetheart"
She frowned biting her lips "I'm not red, I'm embarrassed" she muttered "have some shame in front of the kids at least"
He smiled wrinkling his nose "they enjoyed it"
She rolled her eyes turning her back towards him "Go to hell" she muttered closing her eyes in attempt to escape his piercing eyes

Nitya grimaced watching Roshini working in the Kitchen. She had a big frown pasted on her face, staring straight ahead looking aloof. Nitya sighed leaning on the counter. Roshini had seemed lost and upset for a couple days. She always seemed so anxious and constricted. Roshini had never been one to keep quiet. She had always been quite open about her feelings.
"Roshini" she finally called "What's wrong?"
"Wrong?" she mumbled dazed "What's wrong?"
"What's wrong with you? I've been watching you for a few days. You seem lost, angry and upset all at the same time. What's happening with you? This is not like you"
She bit her lip looking away "I don't know what you're talking about"
"Of course you do. I'm no stranger Roshini, I'm your sister. You can tell me" she murmured softly, her hands covering her sister's fisted hands "Please"
Roshini sighed dropping the peeler from her hands. She pulled her hand away from Nitya's then sighed again pressing her hand to her face "I don't know" she mumbled "I don't know"
"Roshini" Nitya walked around the counter hugging her little sister to her chest "What's wrong? What's on your mind?" she asked quietly
She shook her head hugging her elder sister around the waist. Nitya sighed pressing a kiss to her head, gradually walking her towards the sofa in the front room. Roshini sat up straight wiping the constant tears falling from her eyes looking anywhere but at her sister.
"Roshini, you either tell me what's wrong or stop crying. I don't like seeing you like this" Nitya mumbled stroking her head "please Roshini, I want to help you"
Wiping her tears she finally turned towards Nitya "I'm really worried" she murmured "about Kripa. She doesn't look after herself at all"
"Roshini" Nitya exclaimed laughing "that's not something to cry over. She's fine, trust me. She's young and vibrant. Let her enjoy life. After she's married things will change. You don't have that freedom"
Roshini shook her head in disapproval "I don't have a problem with her enjoying life. She just works too much. She doesn't look after herself and she's so lost nowadays. She's in another world" she looked at Nitya for a nod of approval but only found confusion "Di I'm not stupid. Look at how she went to Masoori. She's going to be fully responsible for the next week for all the children and—"she paused with a frown "she'll be cooking and cleaning with no rest. It's not easy. She takes on more than she can handle"
"Why do you look at it that way?" Nitya questioned "You know you should really give her some credit. She's actually doing incredibly well. Look at her experience at Masoori like good practice. I mean sooner or later she will have kids, a family. She will learn how to handle situations" she assured pressing her knee "stop worrying so much about her. She's grown up now. She can look after herself very well"
"You don't understand di. She's growing up; she's going to be married soon. She needs to act more responsible. She needs to give home more time. She can't prioritize work and people" she muttered bitterly
"Oh" Nitya mumbled turning towards her "so that's it"
Roshini looked at her befuddled "I don't understand—"
"Roshini, your more worried about Kripa growing up aren't you" Roshini smiled sadly looking down at her lap "you're worried because you know you're going to have to say goodbye to her one day. It's getting to you isn't it"
Roshini nodded looking away "She's just growing up too fast for me" she mumbled wiping a stray tear "I just have this really big mushy feeling constantly shouting she's growing up and she's going to be married soon"
"Oh Roshini" Nitya sighed hugging her "I understand what it feels like to lose someone, I know the feeling" she mumbled in distant memory "but you need to remember she will still be there just in a different context" she shrugged "she'll be married, she'll be someone's wife, someone's daughter in law. She will have many more responsibilities but she'll be happy. Its part of life Roshini, she will have to go one day"
"I know di" she mumbled "but Kripa's always been there. She was my first born. I still remember how tiny she was when she was born. She bought happiness to our life, she made my life complete" she whispered "Although I'm scolding her half the time I do love her. She understands me without me speaking sometimes" she rubbed her eyes wiping the constant tears "I think the atmosphere of the wedding really got me thinking. There's not a lot of time left "she paused in deep thought "soon she'll be gone, maybe a year or two maximum. I don't want to let go"
Nitya stroked her head nodding all the while "its okay Roshini, you can cry. Just don't let this get to your head. The few moments you have left with her should be filled with happy moments. You don't want to destroy it with a bad mood"
Roshini nodded with a slight smile. She knew she was taking her concerns for Kripa over her head. She had noticed a change in Kripa. She often watched her quietly from the door getting ready for bed, reading a book or practicing her dance. Her habits were the same but her lost expression and quiet smiling moments were new.
Somewhere along the line she had noticed how open Kripa had become, how cheerful and lively she was. It was good to be open but she was scared for her daughter; she wanted that cheerful ambience to remain. She had a feeling something big was happening in Kripa's life but she couldn't pinpoint it. Her silence and secrecy was really getting to Roshini. She knew it wasn't intentional but that nagging feeling just wouldn't go.
