Part III

This is turning into a SS coz I guess an OS should be short and I just can't stop….Thank you everyone for your encouraging comments and likes, you don't know what it means to me...🤗.

Fuming at his highhandedness, Khushi pulled the sleeve of her blouse as close to the neckline as possible, to cover the hickey, muttering 'Laad Governor kahinkey, rakshash, hamesha manmani..', as she did so. Deciding to look in the mirror to ensure that the mark was indeed covered, she walked to his dresser and gasped aloud at the image staring back at her. Was it really her? Her face and neck were matching her bangles to the T, her kajal was smudged, she had no idea about the whereabouts of her bindi, her hair was a mess, the beautiful gajra that her amma had put for her, was barely there and oh god, were these stubble burns on her jaw and neck? She whirled around and marched to the green lounger where Arnav was seating, looking rather pleased with himself.

'Samajhtey kya hain aap apne aapko? Ab hum aisey neeche kaise jayenge? Sab kya sochengey?' she screamed at Arnav, who narrowed his eyes and pulled at her arm, making her land her rather gracelessly in his lap. Khushi scrambled out of his lap, her face burning at the brief contact with his hard body. Arnav rose slowly to his feet and with the infuriating grin intact on his face, said, 'Kyun chilla rahi ho Khushi, maine kya kiya?' 'Aapney kya kiya? Aapney hi…aapki wajah se hi….',Khushi could not complete her sentences, she wanted the slap the grin right off his face, she wanted his arms around her, she did not know what she wanted anymore. 'Haan Khushi, bolo toh sahi maine kya kiya?', with each word he was closing the distance between them till they were almost touching each other.

Deciding not to waste any more time on bickering, Khushi took a step back , he advanced and the familiar game continued till the back of her knees hit the dresser and Arnav hauled her back where he wanted her, in his arms. 'Tum kuch bol rahi thi……ummm Khushi? ' He leaned in, pressed his nose to her neck and inhaled deeply. She pushed at his shoulders and surprisingly he set her free this time. Her eyes strayed to the strong column of his neck and spied a magenta and gold object stuck there. Her bindi….hey Devi Maiyaan, maybe she would now be able to fix herself a little, she said to herself and raised her hand to it ,only to find the said hand imprisoned in strong , lean fingers. 'Kya hua, bina hiley khadi nahin rah sakti ho tum?' 'Hamari bindi hai yahan, wapas dijiye humey…'

'I don't wear bindis, as you very well know Khushi Kumari Gupta how can you find it on my neck?' 'Its there, khud hi dekh lijiye' came the answer. Arnav turned to the mirror and taking out the bindi handed it over to her. 'Ok then, you fix your makeup and let me go and tell Di again that I am not going to wear a sherwani, no matter what.' Khushi nodded, glad to get him out of the room when her gaze landed on the suit that he was wearing, the material on the strong shoulders were horribly crushed, flowers from her now mutilated gajra were stuck to the material alongwith a few strands of long hair. She raised her horrified gaze to see him striding away to the door.

'Arnavji, rukiye, please rukiye…', she cried out. 'Kya hua, I can't help with fixing your face and hair Khushi , you know that' . 'No no no I don't need your help, b..b…but, are you going down like this?' Khushi's voice quivered. 'Haan kyun, kya hua?' Arnav looked back at her, his left eyebrow raised. She ran to him and plucked out the hair and flowers stuck on his suit…'Aapka suit…isse pahenke aap neechey mat jaiye please.' 'This is a brand-new suit Khushi and I don't find anything wrong with this, I am going down just like this'. He opened the door, making Khushi turn her back and close it. 'Kya hua, kabhie kahati ho ke choriye, toh kabhie jaane nahin deti ho, decide Khushi, what do you want'.

She raised her eyes to his and pointed to his shoulders, pleading silently not to tease her anymore. Arnav nodded, ran his fingers along his strong jaw and then inspected them closely. 'This smudge here strongly looks like kajal and this one I am sure is your lip gloss , why are you marking me with your makeup Khsuhi? ' 'Hum nahin, aap, aap ney kiya yeh sab, ' Khushi burst out, 'aur aapka suit bhi kharab ho gaya.' 'Really Khushi, you should be more careful, first you put your makeup on me and then you crease my suit like this', chided Arnav, 'you will have to fix it now'.

'Hum…but kaise?' 'You can take it to my tailor and ask him to fix it, but then I am sure Di, Nani and the others will ask you what was wrong with the suit in the first place…You can tell them the truth, I will support you, don't worry.'' ''Aap…aap rakshas hain, suna aapney?' screamed Khushi, close to tears now at the thought of explaining the reasons the suit was so horribly crushed to Anjaliji and others. And the Laad Governor, calmly informing her that he will support her, no worries! She looked wildly around the room, trying to find a way to escape from this mess when her gaze landed on a cream sherwani, lying on his bed.

She rushed to the bed and picked up the sherwani, absently running her fingers on it, the material was soft and silky to the touch,austere in its simplicity. 'Aap issey pahan lijiye', she thrust the garment to him, only to have it thrust rather forcefully, back to her. 'I have told you before Khushi, eb baar bolne sey baat samajh nahin aati tumhey? I don't wear sherwanis, now move, I am getting late', his tone was rather harsh and cold now, no trace of the teasing lover of minutes before in it. Khsuhi , her head bent, shivered in response to the rough command, wrapping her arms around her and missed the twinkles in the amused dark chocolate eyes, rather incongruous with the uncaring, cold voice.

I am feeling very low, at the moment, you know, why...but anyway, whts life without these highs and lows...wah wah, I am a philosopher now...😉. Please comment and as before, tell me what do you think I should do with my story?
