Chapter 13

Abhay and Pia spent the rest of the day in shopping and packing individually for their Greece trip. Abhay had insisted that they maintain the secrecy about their relationship as they do not know from what supernatural creatures they may face trouble. So, till the time they have figured out what their history is and what their future holds for them, it would be better if they remain on their guard. Pia had reluctantly agreed for this. By the evening, they were all set to go. They reached the airport in the evening separately. Abhay with his parents and Pia with her mom. Misha immediately pulled Pia along with her and one by one they all boarded the flight. Misha made Pia sit with her in the front while Abhay chose to go and sit in the back seat which was not liked by Pia much. But there was nothing she could do about it. She just hoped that she gets to spend more time with him in Greece.

They reached Delhi airport in the middle of the night and half of the students had fallen asleep. But their connecting flight was just one hour later and so there was a mad rush at the airport as they all rushed to collect their luggage and rush to check in for the next flight. The teachers had a hard time waking up the sleepy students and making them run to catch the next flight. Misha was behaving like a zombie and kept falling over Pia who had a hard time controlling her. Abhay was watching it from the back and was smiling at the innocent scene. Ultimately he walked up to Misha and Pia and said: Pia, why don't you leave Misha here at the airport itself. You and I can then sit together and discuss about our projects.

Hearing this Misha suddenly woke up with a jolt and snapped at Abhay: Pia is sitting with me in the flight. You go and buzz off and sit with your siblings. And she pulled Pia's hand and dragged her all the way to the check in counter and finally the flight. They boarded the flight and took their respective seats and Pia felt this the longest 14 hours of her life as she was not with her Abhay in these 14 hours of journey.

They reached Greece and were welcomed by a coordinator from the International Research Institute for Mythologies of the World who guided them to their hotel where they were assigned their respective rooms. Pia was to share the room with Misha much to both her and Abhay's dislike. Aaliyah was to join them a week later. All the students went to their rooms and went to sleep after a tiring journey. The next day, they were called by their teachers in the hotel lounge and were assigned their research topics and partners. Abhay and Pia were made partners for this study too and were assigned to study the ancient temples of Greece and do a thesis on the legends associated with these temples and how those legends are related to modern lifestyle. Misha began to protest that she wants to be Pia's partner, but the professors refused to budge and said that they need two responsible students for this project and Abhay and Pia are perfect for this project. Abhay and Pia stole secret glances at each other and smiled at the professors' decision.

They proceeded to the ancient Greece to start their research and Pia noticed that Abhay seemed a bit disturbed. She asked Abhay what the matter was and Abhay told her: Pia, I had a past associated with this place and I m not sure how to tell you about it. I don't know how you will react knowing it and parts of my past do not make any sense anyway.

Pia: What past Abhay? And why are you worried about my reaction? Have you been here before?

Abhay: Yes Pia. And I was the chief priest of the most ancient temple in Greece when I was a human.

Pia: What a priest??

Abhay: Yes and my name was Abrax.

Pia: wow, from a priest to a vampire. How interesting! But what do you mean by some parts of your past not making any sense?

Abhay was hesitating how to tell Pia about Maithili. He was now convinced that Pia was definitely not her but he was worried how she will react on hearing that he had a past. He hesitantly spoke up: about my love life!

Pia gaped at him in shock for a while before finding her voice back to ask him: You.. you loved someone else? Who was she? Was she beautiful? What happened to her? Did you ma.. I mean did you marry her?

Abhay(smiling a little): Calm down Pia. No, I did not get the chance to marry her as I died in a fire and was turned into a monster. As for the other part, well, being a priest I was high on morals so you don't have to worry about that part either.

He winked at her and Pia blushed but the pressed on: How did she look Abhay? Was she beautiful?

Abhay(hesitantly): She looked just like you Pia! Or should I say you are her doppelganger!

Pia was shocked and left speechless for a while. She finally found her voice after 5 minutes and asked: How is that possible Abhay?

Abhay: I don't know Pia, but it is true. In fact, when I first saw you for a moment I thought that she was back or she has taken rebirth. But soon I realized that you are not her. You have a completely pure and fresh soul who has never been to Earth before.

Pia asked hesitantly: Abhay, how did you got separated from her? I mean what happened to her?

Abhay(blankly): I do not know!

Pia(confused): What do you mean you don't know Abhay? Didn't you try meeting her once you were turned. Maybe she would have still loved you.

Abhay: That's the confusing part of my life Pia. I could never find her again. And no one in the whole of Greece had ever seen someone like her.

Pia: I don't understand Abhay. How is that possible? Tell me everything about her.
