Heyloo everyone! 😃
Okay, so here's Chapter One, finally. A word of explanation before we begin...the three of us officially fell in LOVE with SwaRon with the locker room scene on the day after RDX's party. Everything about it was SO beautiful, that it was like hamaari moment of epiphany for how beautiful SwaRon were themselves! And that's why, we decided that the same locker room scene would be the PERFECT way to begin our story...it's the same scene, delving in more detail into exactly what Swayam and Sharon think and feel through it, and from this familiar beginning, the next chapters will take you into the way we develop SwaRon in our own way, with a different story. I know it's the same old thing, but I wrote it with a lot of heart, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. 😊PMs will be sent out to everyone who leaves feedback. Here goes...CHAPTER 1: When Sleep Eludes (Banner Credits to Sangitha (swaronmania) 😳)
"Your wish is my command."
The words had seemed to resound in the locker room as though amplified times a million. They were so utterly unexpected, that Sharon had thought she might've imagined them. She had driven to college to meet him, convinced that the rendezvous would comprise of a painfully lengthy exchange. Swayam would plead with her not to leave him, and try and impose last nights events on her and make her feel guilty, while she would continue to negate him. She was convinced that this would be the most difficult and unpleasant thing she would have to do in her life. She had expected a scene, quite frankly, but what she had stood facing at that moment, encapsulated in the words resounding around her, was something she could barely comprehend even now, as she lay tucked comfortably in bed, hoping for sleep to drive away these memories of the day past. He didn't have any issue with what she wanted from him? He didn't want anything from her? He'd just give last night up because she asked him to? Just like that? He had been standing with his back to her, and she remembered wanting to see his face, to look into his eyes, for some reason. What had he been thinking? What must he be thinking even now, at this very moment? Sharon snapped at herself mentally as these questions threatened to crowd out any hope of peaceful rest. What did it matter what he (that whats-his-face weakling) thought?! It was done, just like she had wanted. And that's all there was to it.
"Uh...well, okay then. Hm..." Sharon remembered struggling not to stammer in her response to his statement. Evidently, her features didn't do a good enough job of hiding the disarray within her. She hadn't known what else to say to him, especially when his face showed no signs of resentment, no plea for anything at all, just...resignation. As she had watched him walk away, she had been overcome by the feeling that there was anything but finality here. As she lay in bed now, thinking, she realized that this was unpleasant, but in a way that she couldn't quite understand. She felt hollow. Like she was losing something. But what bothered her the most was why he hadn't argued his case further. Did he not think it was worth persevering for? There was something about him that made it very hard for her to break his heart outright. Otherwise turning down proposals was something she had been doing on a daily basis ever since high school, without any qualms whatsoever. But there was something different about Swayam. That earnest look he always had in his eyes...she had seen it the night before, when he had asked her for a dance, looking into her eyes...she saw it again this morning when he said "Ek chance toh do?"...so full of hope, that she somehow felt like the bad guy herself, having to crush him with a dismissive "Bhool jaao yeh sab."
She closed her eyes forcefully, willing herself to sleep. Sharon Raiprakash always got her way eventually. Battling sleeplessness in a state of mental unrest, fatigue and exhaustion from the day gone by finally lulled her to sleep.Swayam lay awake too, his eyes looking at the skylight above his bed, but unfocused, blurring the outlines of the two wooden bars across the little window, and the vast, starry sky beyond. His mind registered no sight or sound except those of the locker room earlier in the day. He hadn't known what other words to offer her as reassurance that he really would honour her wish. If she wanted him to let go of last night, he'd let it go. Or at least make sure she doesn't see that he...can't. Because those five words, so simple, so complete in their submission to her, broke his heart to articulate. He had been mortally afraid that she'd hear the pain in his voice. Last night meant more to him than he could admit even to himself, and it would remain a memory he'd cherish for life. The thought that it meant nothing more than a mistake to her, and one that she couldn't wait to erase all traces of, broke his heart...but that was the way it was, and he could do nothing to change it. If she was happier away from him, then away from him she would be. He closed his eyes. For a moment, the look on her face when he had turned around after saying those words, came back to him. He had found her looking at him with this slightly confused, almost tender expression he couldn't quite understand, almost as if she'd rather have him take back what he had said about last night being over and done with...but it had lasted a fleeting moment. She was good at rearranging her features to look stern and unrelenting. With a shake of his head, Swayam dismissed the thought that her momentary hesitation could have been an expression of her own reluctance to let go of last night's memory. Who am I kidding? He was a nobody for her...too plain and uninteresting to be worthy even of her attention, let alone affection. It was with thoughts like these that he eventually slipped into an uneasy sleep.
The next day dawned with them both feeling oddly apprehensive, and yet resolved in how they wanted to carry themselves at college, especially around each other. Where Sharon still found herself wondering why this cost her so much effort and deliberation, Swayam just tried to bury the broken-ness he could see on his own face as he looked in the mirror. Her wish is my command. And so it was.
