OS: Synchronicity (20 weeks)
Arnav sighed as soon as he saw Khushi's posture and the way she was flicking angrily through her book. 'I did phone and say I was going to be late Khushi.' He sat down next to her as she angrily put her book down.
'What were you doing so late though?' She didn't even give him a chance to answer as she continued, 'I bet you've spent all evening with those tall, skinny, beautiful models. I mean why would you want to come home to your fat, ugly wife when you have such beautiful models to look at?'
Arnav rolled his eyes in amusement as Khushi put her hands over her stomach protectively. 'Khushi, you know you're beautiful. And this isn't fat,' he put his hands over hers on her stomach. 'This is my beautiful, gorgeous, baby. Are you calling my baby fat?'
'No that won't work on me, Arnav. From now on I'm coming to work with you every day. I don't trust all these women around you. They'll probably think that they have a chance with you now.'
Arnav shook his head as he stood up and went to the dresser to take off his watch and cufflinks. 'You're more than welcome to come Khushi but you and I both know you'll just get bored and then complain.'
'Why will I be bored? I could do some work and make myself useful. I did work there before you know.'
Arnav's steps faltered as a memory flickered in his mind. 'Khushi?' He turned back to see she had picked up her book again although she no longer looked angry.
'Hmm?'
'Remember when you first worked for me? After we first met? And I was... I was really horrible to you?'
Khushi looked up from her book, curious as to where Arnav was going with this line of conversation, 'yes?'
'Do you remember the day I made you... I mean the day you had to measure all those models?'
'Yes?'
He sat down again next to her, 'did you actually... I mean, you didn't really measure them did you?'
Khushi watched as Arnav squirmed in discomfort. 'Of course I did,' she smiled brightly at him. 'Remember, I came and told you all their measurements?'
Arnav's eyes widened in shock, 'you mean you actually measured them all? How?' He stood up feeling his insides churning at the thought of Khushi touching anyone else, and the fact that it had been a situation he'd engineered himself.
'Let me show you,' Khushi stood up as she opened the bedside drawer where Arnav kept a spare sketchbook and other bits and pieces and pulled out a measuring tape.
'What? Khushi what are you... '
'Shhh,' Khushi put her finger on Arnav's lips before she helped him take off his jacket and waistcoat.
'First I measured their arms,' Khushi ran the tape along Arnav's arms not taking note of the numbers but making sure to trail her fingers along his arm as she did.
Arnav felt his muscles twitch involuntarily under her fingers and he clenched his teeth at the image in his mind of Khushi and AR's latest male model which was ridiculous since Sanjay hadn't even been working for AR when Khushi had worked there. 'Khushi, stop. You...'
'Shhh Arnav! Next, I measured their biceps,' she put the tape around his bicep feeling him flex under her touch increasing their girth. 'Then shoulders,' she moved quickly feeling the tension emanating from him. She stood behind him and held the tape from one end of his shoulders to the other massaging them slowly.
'Khushi, tell me you didn't...'
'Shh Arnav! You're very tense here you know,' she said as she continued to knead his shoulders
Arnav clenched his fists together trying to control his anger. He could hardly be angry with Khushi after all when it was his own fault and they hadn't even been together at the time. He felt her reach her hands under his arms to put the tape around his chest as she moved around so she was facing him again.
'And after the chest we finally come to the waist,' Khushi lowered her arms so her hands were around Arnav's slim waist when his hands shot out to grip her arms.
'I swear to God Khushi, if you ever touch anyone else like this again,' Arnav fumed as Khushi only continued to smile, angering him further and he pulled her closer fastening his lips over hers in a firm kiss.
His anger soon began to dissipate as she kissed him back. Khushi hugged Arnav and rested her head on his chest when he released her. 'Arnav do you really think I would ever touch any man except you?' She kissed his chest lightly, 'I didn't really measure those models.'
'But then how'?' Arnav felt his irrational jealousy abating to be replaced with happiness at the thought that he was the only man Khushi had ever touched in this way. Arnav's smile only grew as Khushi explained how she had really gotten all the measurements. When she was done he turned her around so he could rest his chin on her shoulder and put his arms around her stomach.
'Are you listening baby? Do you see how tricky your mom is and how well she lies just to annoy me? We're going to have to be on our guard all the time aren't we?' There was a sudden thump against his hand and Arnav stopped in shock.
'Arnav did you feel that?' Khushi put her own hands on her stomach excitedly.
'Khushi? Did the baby just...'
'Yes! The baby kicked! See the baby doesn't like it when you say anything bad about his mother.' Khushi smiled as she leaned back against Arnav contentedly, 'Baby don't listen to your Dad. You'll realise when you meet him, just how difficult he is. We have to be tricky just to deal with even a tiny bit of his stubbornness.'
Arnav laughed as he felt more movement against his hand. 'I don't think the baby likes you talking about her Dad like that either.' He tightened his hold on Khushi, kissing her cheek before leaning his head against hers.
