Things back to normal?
Gunjan changed into a pair of comfortable shorts and a Tee shirt and sat down with a cup of coffee. The night had been exhausting but still very pleasant. Finally she and Aditya had sorted out all their differences and were back on talking terms. She wished for no other hurdles in their friendship. She wanted all this to go the way it was going. She sighed and pulled the covers over her.
Aditya had never felt so good and light in a long time. Finally all the problems were sorted out. He will just have to take care of the media tomorrow. All the magazines will have the fight images splashed all over the front page. But he will deal with that tomorrow. He had seen the crestfallen look on Samrat's face later in the evening. He didn't know the reason but had a sneaking feeling about it. But then he didn't want to hurt Gunjan by being involved with his brother again. He just wished for the things to go on the way he has decided.
Samrat was only one restless that night. He couldn't get any sleep. He felt upset for some reason which contradicted with his mind. He couldn't be possibly mourning over Gunjan's and his lost relationship. He had been over with it long ago. In fact he was the one who had ended it for the better. His possessive heart couldn't deal with his Gunjan being taken care of by someone else. He was the one who had taken care of her, taken her responsibility. How could he bear his own brother expressing a liking for the girl he had once liked or maybe still did. Too tired of his thoughts and in the way they were heading he finally drifted off to sleep.
"Gunjan, I like you. I really do." said Samrat holding silver promise ring in his hand. Gunjan smiled with tears in her eyes.
"Me too" she said forwarding her hand while he slid the beautiful ring in her ring finger.
"It looks beautiful in your finger." he said kissing her hand.
"Yes, it does." she said hugging him, smiling widely.
Gunjan woke up from her dream to realize she had been sweating. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and drank some water to cool her senses and her fast beating heart. How could she have such a dream. It wasn't as if it would come true. Samrat can never propose to her like that. It was completely useless and actually waste of her energy to think about an unrealistic thing. Glancing at the clock on her bedside table, she read the time, 7:00 AM. Sighing she got up from the bed and headed towards the washroom for a cold shower to stop her fantasies about Samrat's proposal.
Summer after high school when we first met,
Made out in your mustang to radio head
And on my Eighteenth birthday
We got matching tattoos
Used to steal your parents' liquor
And climb to the roof
Talk about our future
Like we had a clue
Never planned that one day
I'd be losing you
In another life
I would be your girl
We'd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away
Gunjan shut off the music and sighed heavily. She was in no mood for a sad song and specially a one that somehow matched her condition. It dropped her already soared spirits even more. She increased the speed of her car and turned it towards the University Gate. As she entered the Corridor, she spotted Aditya shamelessly teasing Mark who happened to be one of the most studious guy of their class. She went to his rescue.
"Adi stop teasing him. she reprimanded him
"Yeah okay Fine. Let's go I was waiting for you." he spoke holding her arm and taking her towards the Library.
"Adi, what are you doing? I have a class to attend." she spoke trying to get her arm from his hold.
"I know. I want to talk to you about something" he spoke at the end of corridor.
"What?" she hissed angrily
"We are planning a picnic to our beach house this weekend." he spoke excited
"So?" she spoke uninterested.
"So, you are expected to come. Your family, my family and Tia."
"I can't come Adi. Finals are like a month away." she spoke walking away.
"I know. Even i have to study but still a nice weekend could be refreshing. Don't you think?" he spoke hopefully.
"Adi I have to score good. okay?" she said entering her class while Adi followed closely.
"Come on Gunjan, you are talking as if you will complete the whole syllabus in this weekend." he spoke rolling his eyes. Gunjan turned to him narrowing her eyes.
"No but I have to start with it." she said sitting on her bench beside a blonde.
"You can always start a day or two later." he spoke sitting on her desk while she simply glared at him.
"Adi, leave." she said exasperated.
"First say yes." he said stubbornly.
"No. You can't force me to say yes. Professor Kenneth will be here anytime soon so go take a seat. Besides, he doesn't like you much." she said looking towards the door.
"Uh-no. Say yes first." he said holding her arms.
"Okay fine. Now go away." she said pushing him away as she spotted the teacher enter the class.
"Yes!" he spoke moving away.
He always got what he wanted.
