Kabhi Na Kabhi-Chapter 4

When Angad went back to check on Anjali he found her sitting in front of the computer, reading the paper carefully. She reached for the mouse and clicked something. Hit the backspace button a few times and then type something, one letter at a time with the same finger. Then hit the save button and start reading again from where she had left off.

"Done?" Angad sat down beside her.

"Yes." She hit the print button and Angad got the paper for her, stapled them, and told her to go put them away.

Anjali was the best way to get Kripa back. No he wasn't using her, he actually loved the little girl. More than that he would love to love her as a father. She was the type of almost nine year old any father would every wish for. With a saucy smile he turned around. Although he had told Anjali he would stay for dinner he knew he couldn't. Kripa wasn't going to like the idea. He wanted her back by making her smile not sad and upset.

There were three days till Christmas which meant three days to get Kripa back. As soon as it was twelve on December 24 he would propose to her. Tell her that he wants her back, forever. But there was a little something he would have to, or was going to do, before that.

Angad walked into Kripa's packed coffee shop, it was decorated in all Christmas color and little children were everywhere.

He scanned the room and finally found Kripa on the phone. Pushing everyone aside he went to her. She smiled at him when he was beside her.

"Yes I understand but…" Silence. "Alright. Thanks anyways. Bye."

When the phone hit the receiver Angad held her hand and kissed her quickly. "Hi."

She looked at him surprised. "Hi." She replied with a smile.

"Is everything ok?"

She sighed and nodded. "No."

"Can I help?"

She laughed, "Yes but I'm sure your are not going to want to after you find out what you have to do."

"Will it make you happy?"

She looked at him. Although there were so many people in the room she still put her arms around him. "It would help a lot."

He drew her away and kissed her forehead. "Just tell me what I have to do."

Fifteen minutes later Santa Angad was sitting in the middle of the shop with a white beard, white bushy eyebrows, and pillows inserted into his red Santa dress. Kripa smiled looking at him. He was absolutely adorable.

One by one little kids sat in his lap, he gave them gifts and allowed the sticky children to say something in his ear. Tell him what they wanted for Christmas that year.

Kripa was surprised, he listened to everyone patiently. He would never allow kids around him with lollypops and stick mouths. But today almost every child smelled sweet and kiss him with a sticky mouth.

Finally it was Anjali's turn, almost all the kids were done and Kripa was talking to a few people around the room.

Anjali only did this to make her mother happy. She climbed into Angad's lap and took her gift. "What do you want for Christmas this year?" He said in a changed, grandpa voice.

She bit her lips like Kripa did sometimes. Then lifted and whispered in his ear. "I want Mom and Dad." Angad couldn't stop the tears from coming into his eyes. "I want you as my Dad." He pulled her away and she winked. "I knew it was you right from the beginning. I know there isn't such thing as Santa."

Angad pulled her into a tight hug. "I love you, and I promise you that you will."

"Thank you… Dad."

"But it's between the two of us."

"Yes, I would hate it if Mom ran behind me with a fry-pan tonight. Or even behind you."

Kripa watched them talk, and before she could walk over Anjali left. Once everyone was gone and the shop was closed for the next few hours Kripa walked to Angad who was still dressed and sitting on the sofa chair.

"Thank you Angad. You made a lot of the kids happy."

He took her hand and pulled her into his lap. "Did I make you happy?"

She settled into his lap and sank into the pillows. "Yes." She took his hat off and ran a hand thought his hair. "What does Santa want for Christmas?"

"I should ask you first. What do you want for Christmas?"

"Nothing. I've got everything I want. A loving daughter, good work. A happy life. What more can I ask for?" She saw the disappointment clear in his eyes. "what do you want."

"I don't want anything Kripa." With one hand he managed to take the beard off his face and toss it in the bag. Then looked back at her. "I need something."

She shifted again, "What?"

He wait for a second before answering. "You. I need you."

At that moment Kripa pressed her lips to his. Then kissed the tip of his nose. "What did Anjali tell you?"

He smiled. "She knew it was me. Angad."

"Oh!"

"Yes." He looked at the disappointed her. "I love you Kripa."

She looked at him again, "Would you like to come home for coffee?"

"As soon as I can change out of these." He kissed her again and she stood up.

Angad and Kripa walked back home and made the coffee together. After they were done they just sat around until dinner. "Where's Anjali?" Angad asked as he sat down and then pulled Kripa into his lap.

"She had planned to stay the night with her friends before they start some project tomorrow."

"Oh!"

"But she's right next door. Not very far."

Angad pulled the rubber band from her hair and allowed them to fall on her shoulders. "Do you really want to know what she asked Santa today?"

"But I thought…"

He ran a finger over her lips, shocking her. It was so familiar. "She still asked me for something."

She was running out of breath. "What?"

"She asked me for a father."

Her breath caught in her throat twice as he said that and as he ran his lips against her neck.

"She asked Angad Khanna to become her father."

Kripa leaned back allowing his lips to explore her neck. But when he said the words she looked at him. "I know that's what you wanted all along Angad."

"I don't know what I wanted." His skimmed her jam with his lips. "But I want you right now."
