PART 13

He walked into his house muttering to himself,
"Think ASR, Think... you need a decent plan." He was so lost in his thoughts that he missed the small group of people assembled in his living room. While, all eyes turned to him, he continued to walk towards his room. He was nearly at the first step of the staircase before he realized she was sitting there, on the couch, and with a rosy blush adorning her cheeks.

"Di?"
he asked walking towards the small group of people.
"
Chote..." she said, nervous of his reaction.
"We thought it would be nice to get you married with Akash and Payal."

"But Di..."

"Chote?"

"Nothing, Di"

"
Khushi I want you to talk to you right now. Pool side." his voice held the steely ASR authority again and Khushi turned sad. He had asked her for marriage hadn't he? What was the problem now?

He was annoyed and frustrated, so much for planning he thought. Stupid Di, he grumbled. Why did Di tell me? Or Khushi?

The proposal... Though he had to find the right words,
The roses... Ahhh... Lets see, he had though, not a bad beginning,
The fairy lights in the night... Good idea, he approved himself
A beautiful simple, platinum ring with a diamond maybe their initials... He was yet to see the jeweler.
Going down on his knee... Not my type, he had rejected that.
Maybe a candle light dinner
. Not bad.

He gone through so many settings while on his way, looking for a good opportunity. Hunting for cliches, she would like, checking, crossing and readdressing the deal. But, here he was because of his sister's haste to get everything settled, especially him, he was out of time. Hell, he didn't even have a flower, chuck a platinum ring with their initials.
Argh... DIII...

He was pacing near the pool side when he saw her walk in, sad and annoyed at the same time. Troubling her dupatta twirling it around her index finger and muttering the usual "Laad Governor".

"
Arnavji... Why don't you want to marry me?" she asked the moment she stepped out to the pool side tears threatening to fall.

"
What the..." when did he say that? He thought.

"
Aap hamse pyaar nahi karte? I cannot stay in a relation without marriage. I have told you that before." she continued ignoring his trademarked What the...

"K
hushi... Listen to me"

"
Nahi... Aap listen" she said pointing her index finger at him threatening.

He smiled, he had to, it was so funny, she was so cute. Her eyes blazing in anger, the ferocious strength to stand against him like she was Khali or Mohammad Ali and the cute, adorable pout. Ohhh... She was so beautiful.

A finger poking his chest snapped him out of his thoughts as his eyes focused back to a livid Khushi.

"Khushi..." but she failed to stop ranting and so he decided to take matters his way.

He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her flush against his body and the sudden impact shut her up.
"
Good... Now listen to me" he said still holding her close.

"Arnavji..."

'Ji' the damned 'JI' why did she have to use that interjection, it made him sound old. He had to do something about it now.
"
Arnavji... Leave me. Someone may walk in."

"Shut up Khushi!"

"I have a deal for you."

"Deal? What Deal? I don't want any deal."

"Listen first, then decide."

"Marry me!"
there he had said it, sounded so much easier as a business proposal than s romantic tale. It was simpler that way.

"Whhaattt?"

"Marry me but meri ek sharat (condition) hai."

She just stared at him, too shocked to say a word.
"
Never call me Ji. I hate that word. My name is Arnav Singh Raizada NOT Arnavji. And if you call me Arnavji one more time... You wait"

"
Ji???" she asked confused.

"
No Ji Khushi. I told you to not say it."and with that he crashed his lips to hers.
The proximity was sending his heart into a frenzy already and the cute pout did nothing to keep his resolve of going slow. Taking on step at a time theory went to hell as their lips met.

The world dimmed around them as they kissed. A first of the many that they would share. So absorbed they were in each other they failed to see the beautiful colors adorn the sky as the sun set.

It was a beautiful setting a riot of hues of red set the sky ablaze just as the last winter sun set and a beautiful blue night rose. The stars illuminated the meeting of the lovers while the crickets played a love tune. However, they were to lost in each other to notice the world change around them.

As they broke apart a beautiful color rose up in her cheeks and she averted her eyes, shy. He caressed her cheek, asking again, now more calm. The battles of the day forgotten, he knew they would walk through each problem together.

"Marry me."
She nodded her head unsure of her voice as happy tears cascaded down her cheeks.
He just wiped the tears and pecked her a final time before he took her hand in his and decided to break it to the family.

"Aa... Khushi"
She looked up at him, they were near the top of the staircase.

"You remember the deal right?"
he asked smirking.
She just nodded in return.
Har chees ek deal, Jiji ki Shaadi ek deal, humari shaadi bhi ek Deal... Laad Governor, with that thought they walked down hand - in - hand to meet their families.

***********************************************************

I know its cheezy, bear with me. This is the final cheezy part. The story will pick up pace from the next part. Also, the next part opens two weeks later... The double wedding. It is going to be eventful.
Will try to Update sooner.

PART 14

Arnav sat on the raised pedestal in the finest clothing designed by AR. A sherwani in impeccable soft gold interlaced with red designs designed especially for the wedding. The double wedding of Arnav - Khushi and Akash- Payal was a family affair by mutual decision, not wanting to direct anymore attention from the media. While, only close relatives of the families were present, all the remaining associates had been invited to the reception to be held the next evening.

Their wedding would take place first as Arnav was the elder son of the family.

Arnav sat under a canopy of flowers, in the lawn of the RM, admiring the handiwork of the wedding planner awaiting his bride while the priest chanted in a constant stream. The sudden hush announced the arrival of his beloved and he rose from his place besides the holy fire to greet her.

She walked out of the house holding onto her mother's hand gazing at the mandap raised in the lawn. Her eyes moved from one end to another admiring the craftmanship, the beauty and the serenity of the location. It was perfect... It was a fairytale wedding.

She was looked ethereal in her red lehenga. Another one of AR creations, it was designed in a royal blood red color, made of the softest and the finest fabric, adding a sparkle to the color. In contrast to the groom, the intricacies of her dress were designed in a sunshine golden hue, reflecting her personality. The dress accentuated her feminine curves, as it pooled at her feet. Dressed in a nude make up and blush she was one of the most beautiful brides in the world.

The mandap was raised in the centre of the lawn, a tent by design and set on a backdrop of white, complimenting the colors set. Four tiny stairs led her up to the mandap where the ritual was being held, where he stood, with his hand outstretched, waiting for her.

Green Wines coiled on each pole of the tent while blue lilies and lavender snaked in the anti direction to the wines on the poles. The perimeter of the mandap was lined with flowers, emitting a soft fragrance. Under the light of the sun, each color was brightened and the light breeze scattered the fragrance of the flowers wide.

The rich pasture of the lawns set direct contrast to the structure but enriched the beauty. The setting was serene, beauty and had a poise that could not be described in words. But for those who witnessed it, remained spell bound. It was a creation of ASR's mind executed by the wedding planner.

Her eyes darted from one end of the ground to another finally resting on him as she advanced towards him. A soft smile played on her lips but her eyes and face expressed the joy she felt.

In the last ten days after the wedding had been arranged, he had kept his worries aside deciding to be happy for her. His presence in family functions and gatherings gave her a joy she could hardly express. He had participated in functions, pranks and mischief during the rituals and his each little gesture had made her happier. Her face radiated joy and glowed with an unaccountable happiness while her eyes reflected the love she held for him. In these ten days they had enjoyed a lot removing the inhibitions that had so far governed them.

Each step brought her closer to him, four steps and they would start a new life together, and he counted. Her eyes darted behind him to the priest and the havan (holy fire) and Arnav moved a step ahead extending his hand to greet his bride.

Everything changed in that brief instance.

Her eyes lost the twinkle, her face lost the beautiful blush and the smile was replaced with a fear as a wail erupted from her mouth.

Her screams engulfed the whole air the wedding revelry dying out and in a fraction he was with her.

He had followed her line of sight to realize the biggest flaw in the plan. It was a gaping loophole and nothing to fill it in with now that the wheels had been set into motion. The fire and the ritual had sparked the frenzy, a reminder of that fateful night.

"Khushi' Khushi, open your eyes. Everything is fine. KHUSHI' Jaan"

He called out to her supporting her weight as she crashed into him fighting unseeing demons. One hand supported her waist while the other cupped her face as sobs shook her body.

He lifted her up in one swift motion as he felt her body sag, the final vestiges of energy and struggle leaving her body, a she collapsed in his arms.

The families stood rooted to their spots unable to comprehend the scenario. Never had they realized the true magnitude of her wounds, their deepening bond or the reason for his paranoia. The past ten days had seen a split Arnav ' between happiness and anxiety. He was happy as long as she was with him, in those moments his face radiated happiness. However, with the time of departure, his eyes grew anxious, which his family associated as possessiveness. The mere mention of her name out of context could send him into panic attacks.

He sat beside her on their bed holding her hand, chaffing her hands to warm her.

"Khushi... Khushi, please open your eyes. You are scaring me. He is not here Khushi. It was just a dream."

He tried calling her over and over again, his heart running a mile a minute with her lack of response.

Her eyes fluttered an opened and he gathered her into a hug and she hugged him tighter. Tears fell on his neck, she was crying.

"Arnav" she pleaded, her voice choking back sobs.
