Part 4

Daddy…Daddy…Daddy…Those were the words that kept echoing in Arnav's ears as he looked on at Kushi, completely shocked, oblivious to the tears running down her face and numb as Ajay held on to him for dear life. He narrowed and focused his gaze onto the woman he loved, loves and will always love. The question that arose from his eyes were answered by her own. He barely noticed the imperceptible nod but it was there. Suddenly the truth dawned on him. It shocked him to the core, and left him breathless. Ajay had just called me Daddy. That means Kushi was…was….was pregnant. I'm his father ? I have a son ? Then who the hell is Raj? It took him a near two minutes before he fully came back to his senses, wrapped his arms around the seven year old and narrowed his eyes at Kushi. Accusingly he asked " You were pregnant ?"

Kushi knew that the truth was finally out in the open and that she could do nothing about it nor did she want to. The truth that she had been carrying on for the past eight years had just been laid out for Arnav to see. She finally felt a sense of relief creep in. Not being able to stand Arnav's accusing eyes, she turned her face to the side and whispered " Yes…Ajay…Ajay is our son !"

The breath that Arnav held in came rushing out. He had a son. He was a father . Ajay was not Ajay Raj Malhotra but Ajay Arnav Singh Raizada. He tightened his arms around his son and picked him off from the ground, hugging his own blood for the first time. First time !!! He had missed everything. His son was seven and he wasn't there for him for the last seven years. He missed his son's movements in his mother'ss womb, missed seeing him come crying into this world, take his first steps, speak his first words, go to school. He missed everything, He looked down at the young child who was hugging him back with equal exuberance and placed numerous kisses around Ajay's face. He was rewarded with kisses of his own. He looked lovingly into his son's face and jolted to see the similarity. His son had the same features as he did yet at the same time different. He felt like he was looking into his own eyes with the same pointed chin. Yet he wasn't as tanned as Arnav was. His complexion rivalled that of his mother's. He saw his son smile at him and his heart clenched at that site.

"Hey little guy ! I…its…it's a pleasure to finally meet you " admitted Arnav shyly. I'm talking to my own son like I talking to my client. What the hell is wrong with me ? But how the hell do I talk to a seven year old ? He was pained to realize that he didn't know how to properly engage in a conversation with his own son. He barely talked to his own nieces but nonetheless it hadn't stopped those two angels from hounding him with questions every time he had walked through the door. He had never made an attempt to deserve their love but nonetheless it had been the only thing those two had showered on him ; suddenly he felt very guilty.

Ajay started laughing and ran to his mother, hugging her at her waist. " Mama, daddy talks so differently than you. I don't understand what pleasure means".

Kushi quietly laughed along with her son and looked up to see Arnav look at them sheepishly.Looking back at Ajay, she answered " Beta, its just that your father hasn't talked to us for awhile that he simply forgot how to talk like us. He simply meant that he was very very very very happy to finally meet his little baby "

Ajay's smile got even larger and he ran off to hug his father once again. He held his arms out and was thrilled when he was picked up. Placing a giant, wet and sloppy kiss on his father's cheek, he exclaimed " I'm happy to meet you too daddy "

Arnav looked lovingly at his son's face and still couldn't believe that he was gifted with such a treasure. Hugging his son emotionally, Arnav replied genuinely and truthfully " Me too little guy…me too "

Father and son remained like that for a few minutes, barely noticing the minutes that passed by. Their emotional reunion was only interrupted when Ajay's stomach grumbled loudly. Looking down at his stomach and then placing his two hands over them, he replied slyly at his parents' questioning gaze " I didn't have time to eat ! I think I'm hungry again now "

Laughing at his son's guilty expression, Arnav placed him down gently and was about to order one of the Prakash's to prepare what ever his son desired when Kushi interrupted and claimed " Ajay, go ahead outside to the buffet and have Uncle Raj to help you get something to eat. Mama and Papa will be out shortly "

"But Mama, I don't want to leave Daddy"

Kushi looked at Ajay's yearning pout and noticed that Arnav's eyes were brimming with unshed tears and emotions. As much as she wanted her son to finally get to know the father he never truly knew, she knew now wasn't the time ; there were too many questions and problems to solve. In a stern and authoritative voice, she declared " Now Ajay !!! Or no jalebis for you !!!"

Ajay's mouth went from a pout to an oh. He looked up at his father, gave a quick peck and ran out the door, not before muttering " I love you " to his dad.

Arnav looked at the trail left behind by Ajay and a smile played on his lips. " I love you too Ajay ". He turned around and noticed Kushi staring at him with a pained and wistful expression and all the anger he felt initially came back with a vengeance. Marching forward, he grabbed her hand and pulled her after him, to the poolside, to their passionate haven .
