Part 2

I was reminded of her words, "Aap jab ghussa hote ho toh aap ko aage peeche kuch bhi dhikhayi nahin dhehtha!' Oddly he was struck with the realization of how justified they were.

He closed his eyes for a second to cool his jagged nerves strings which were screeched until their breaking point. The face which flashed across his closed eyes was her tear-stained face as he last saw her turning back again and again as though entreating him to stop her from going away. Why had he failed to do that? That was the cause of all this entire fiasco!

He should've told La what he told much earlier, he should have confessed his love to her much earlier. He should never have allowed that blasted engagement of Khushi and Shyam to happen in the first place. His sister's life, Khushi's, her Babuji's hopes all rested on his shoulders. He was thinking of the infinite number of things which he should have done and held back from doing just like that lost kiss.

He hoped that today her Devi Maiyya whom she believed so much that she always said that nothing wrong could happen to her when Devi Maiyya was there would show him the right path. The poor girl did not really know how wrong things could go for her if he did not reach in time.

On a sudden thought, I picked up my phone and called her up, "Chalo Maiyya ke Bhavan Bhavan"

Khushi's voice sprang to life at the other end, "Arnavji, boliye kya bath hai?"

But even before he was able to speak a word to her, her phone was snatched from her hands by Shyam with the words, "Khushiji kya woh aapke maalik Arnavji hain. Dijiye na phone hame. Hum unse baath karna chahthe hain!"

"Hume bahut khushi hui Arnav Saab ki aap hume congratulate karne ke liye phone kiye. Sukriya!" and stepped to the other side of the room out of the hearing range of everyone.

"Congratulate my foot! Mujhe aapka gilowna sach patha chalgaya hai Jijaji. Main aaraha hoon yeh shadi rokkne ke liye!" Arnav roared.

"All the best Saale Saab shaadi ko aap kaise rokkthe hain mai bhi dekhtha hoon! Meri monetary problem ko Anjali ne waise bhi solve karli hai apni hisse ke shares mere nam karkar. Uss bechari ko toh yeh bhi nahin patha ki un shares ke papers ke neeche main ne divorce papers bhi rakhe theh. Ab woh legally meri pathni nahin hai aur practically bhikaari bhi hai apni bhai ke ehsan par kyonki uss ke pas ab deneke liye kuch bhi nahin hai." Shyam disconnected the call before Arnav could say anything more.

Arnav was stunned by what he heard. The viper had played his cards well. They couldn't frame a case on him nor had his Di any right over him. Khushi was unknowingly going to marry such a man. What could he do? He had to think fast.

Just then he was reminded of something which he scolded himself for not observing while he was talking to Shyam a short while ago. He made a number of calls and was driving furiously---------

Shyam was hurrying the Panditji saying, "Panditji yeh mantar-vantar chodiye. Agar aap is shadi ko dus minute main sampann karenge toh main aapko dus hazar extra doonga!"
