Part 12

Maan was on his bed. The happenings of the day left him thinking. He did not understand why he behaved like that… He could not meet Dadima's questioning eyes. He did not have an answer for his own questions regarding his behavior. All he knew was he could not see Geet with anybody else. That triggered all that followed. He loved every moment of his dance with Geet. With her in his arms, he felt so comfortable and relaxed. He did not want to let go of her. He was afraid that he might lose her…there was a strange sense of possessiveness that surrounded him when it came to Geet and this seems to be increasing as each day passed by. He did not even like seeing her talk to her friends. He wanted her to talk to him and him only. But how can he ask Geet for all this. When she was around him asking or rather begging only for his love and affection as a husband, he spoke all those cruel words to her. He even demanded her to part with her Mangalsutra. How could he now go and tell Geet that he wanted her presence in his life. How could he demand for her attention? His heart has undergone a world a change right from the day Geet walked out of his life. But how would he convey all this to Geet…As he turned to a side his wrist pained… He was feeling the ache all over his body… It was years that he never danced…and today all of a sudden with Geet in his arms he found his rhythm so quickly…and danced to his heart's content… The pain he felt in his body also brought another realization…Geet would be in pain too, he thought. He wanted to go see if she was fine…..but how can he meet her now…He quickly changed to casuals and walked towards outhouse…

As he went near outhouse he saw Dadima knock at the door of the outhouse and Nandini opened the door. Dadima enquired…

Dadima: Nandini, has Geet gone to sleep beta..

Nandini: Haan dadima…didi bahut thakki hui thi tho woh seedha sone chali gayi..dinner tak nahi liya..

Dadima: Teek hai…I will just go upstairs and have a look at her…

Dadima made her way to Geet's bedroom upstairs…Geet's bedroom door was unlocked. She gently called for Geet. Since there was no reply, she opened the door…Geet was sleeping peacefully… the dim bedroom lamp was on…..Dadima went close to her and sat near her…dadima gently touched her forehead. She thought Geet was running a slight temperature…still did not wish to wake her up from her sleep. She was about to leave when she noticed that Geet was holding on to something very tight…Gently she tried to take it from Geet…as she took it Geet was disturbed and started to toss and turn on the bed…Dadima gently took the frame and turned it… She saw it was Maan's photograph…….Dadima was moved to tears……..She quietly placed the photograph back with geet and kissed her forehead and left…

Maan waited near out house…As he saw Dadima coming back he quickly got back to his room…Back in his room he was pacing for a few minutes…Since dadima was still awake he did not want to wander outside his room and get questioned… He surely had no answers at the moment…So he decided to go see Geet in the morning and retired to his bed…but was awake for a long while….

Part 13

The next morning Geet was up early but was tired and had fever. She was on her bed and was thinking about the dance last evening… Her heart was filled with happiness…Suddenly she put a halt to her flying thoughts and brought her back to reality…Geet…Maan Singh Khurana hates the very sight of you…Get this straight in your mind first…He danced with you last evening…yes… but this has nothing to do with his feelings for you…So stop building castles in air because when they break you are the one to suffer the most….

She remembered her promise to herself that she would never let Maan know that she was still in love with him… She loved Maan… but he always ended up hurting her…She thought she had no more soul left in her to be hurt again…She was happy living with Maan's photograph…atleast Maan in the photograph never hurt her…she wiped out the tear from her cheek and started getting ready for college…

Dadima called to know if she was fine. Nandini replied that she had fever. Dadima went to outhouse only to see Geet getting ready to go to college.

Dadima: Geet beta aapko bukaar hai aur aap college jaane ke liyae thaiyaar kadi hai..

Geet: Dadima aaj hamarae internal exams hai..Mei miss nahi kar sakthi…

Dadima: Beta…aaj tho hamara driver bhi chutti mein hai..aap iss bukaar ke saath college thak kaise jaa payaengae..

Geet: Don't worry dadima.. I will manage…nahi tho mei Sameer ko bulwa lunghi…

Dadima: Teek hai beta…but take care…and keep me updated…OK

Geet: Bye dadima…

As she stepped outside, Maan's car was near the gate…He saw Geet walking out and called out to her…

Maan: Geet…Geet…

Geet was both surprised and shell shocked that Maan was calling out to her…but still replied…

Geet: Haan Sir…

Maan's face immediately showed the displeasure of hearing her call him 'Sir'. Still he said..

Maan: Where are you going?

Geet: To college sir…

Maan: So why are you taking a walk…

Geet: The driver is on leave today…so I will take a bus from the bus stop or I will go by Auto..

Maan: I can drop you Geet at your college… come with me…

Geet: No Thank you sir…Please carry on… I really donot want you to waste your time on me.

Maan was irritated at Geet repeated 'Sir' calling and also that she was refusing him.. At this point Dadima interfered and said..

Dadima: Geet beta..aapko bukaar bhi hai…please aap Maan ke saath chale jaayiyae…please…

Maan got out of the car…did not give attention to Geet's repeated 'nahi…mei chali jaooghi….' and went around, picked Geet's bag and books…put them on the back seat and opened the front door for her… Geet quietly opened the back door again and sat at the back without giving Maan a glance… Dadima smirked to herself…and thought that her potha indeed deserved a treatment like this….She was amused at the "Hide and Seek Game of Love" these both played in the name of Hate…

Maan was more irritated that Geet sat in the back seat…but he knew if he insisted she would again start her going on her own... song….OK atleast she is in the same car with me, he thought and started driving…..He was looking at Geet through the mirror…but Geet had her eyes fixed outside the window…The road was very busy and there were traffic jams….but Maan relished every minute looking at Geet through the mirror. He had never enjoyed Traffic Jams so much in his life before. At length Maan asked…

Maan: Geet tumhe bukaar hai na …aaj rest kar lethi ghar pe…kyon jaa rahi ho..

Geet: Nahi sir..woh aaj mera internals hai tho mujhe jaana padega….

Maan: Oh…kab hai exam?

Geet: 11.30 sir…

Maan: Ok so we still have three hours more...right… Maan made a couple of calls from his phone …

Geet: Nahi Maan sir…mujhe abhi pahunchna hai…mere friends mere intazaar kar rahe hoonghe..hum saath mei revision karenghae

Maan thought Geet had time for the entire world…just he was not there on her list…Soon he pulled up the car at the basement of a building and got out of the car. He went an opened the back door and asked Geet to come out.. Geet blinked for a few seconds and got out of the car… Maan led the way and Geet followed…. Maan took her to the Ground floor which was a Private Nursing Home. He spoke to the nurse there and they were shown the way to the General Physician…

Geet was surprised that Maan brought her to the doctor… Doctor questioned Geet about the blue and red marks on her hand…Soon Maan noticed them as well…He was pained looking at them… He was the one who gave that pain to Geet… Geet was given an injection and prescribed some medicines...Maan brought her some light food and made her have it, then also gave her the meds for the morning…Geet wanted to resist all that Maan did for her…but that which happened were so sweet and loving that she could not say No to Maan and wanted more of his love and care…His caring her almost brought tears to her eyes…

Soon they both continued on their way to college. Geet was silent…She still was looking outside the window...Maan was again watching her through the mirror…Geet got a call on her mobile..It was Sameer..

Sameer: Geet…kahan ho tum? Kab se intazaar kar raha hoon tumhara..

Geet: Bas mei aa rahi hoon…dus minute mein pahunch jaoonghi…

Sameer: Kya hua? Tum late kyon aa rahi ho? Sab kuch teek tho haina..

Geet: Just a small fever…I just met the doctor and am coming….

Sameer: OK I will wait for you at the front gate.

Maan and Geet reached Geet's college…Maan got out of the car and helped Geet out of the car..soon Sameer who was waiting for Geet came running to meet Geet…As soon as he came near her, he gently put his palm on her forehead to feel her temperature… and said..

Sameer: Oh Geet… you have high temperature….Will you be able to take the exam?

Geet: No problem Sameer…I am feeling fine now…

Sameer: Tum kuch revision kar payee ki nahi… Accha teek hai chalo…we will sit together and brush up soon through the main topics…

Maan who saw all this, again lost his temper…He quickly grew red with rage... he waited near the car for Sameer and Geet's tete-a-tete to complete… He had already turned his face the otherways…Geet went up to the car to pick her books and bag…Geet picked her things and looked at Maan. Maan did not look at her. She did not know what to say and stood there for a few seconds… Sameer came up to Geet…picked her books and bags from her..and said..

Oh..Mr. Maan Khurana…. Good Morning.

Maan: Good Morning..

Sameer: Thank you very much for dropping Geet…It was so kind of you.

Maan looked at him or rather glared at him for a second and only said..

Maan: Bye.

Sameer gently took Geet away while Maan was still near the car but was not looking at Geet…As Geet walked towards the college she turned around quite a few times to check on Maan..Sameer noticed this and finally turned and in a loud voice called to Maan and said…

Sameer: Mr. Maan Khurana…aaj hamara exam hai…aap hamae "All the Best" wish nahi karaenghae kya???

Both Maan and Geet were surprised at this..Maan recovered from his anger and said…All the Best to both of them…and a second time looking in to Geet's eyes…

Geet was very happy at this and said 'Thank you' to him and turned around to enter the college…Sameer noticed the glitter of happiness in Geet's eyes as she walked with him in to college…He held Geet gently around her shoulder and led her towards the exam hall…
