A cool breeze enters through the freshly painted white windows and passes through Armaan's soft silky hair. The room that he was currently standing in was bare save for the white blankets spread clumsily across the wooden floor, one bucket of closed and another open bucket of paint with the brush still inside, a canvas and Armaan himself. There were traces of red, green and baby blue paint smeared across Armaan's forehead and cheeks. He was applying the last strokes of paint to the masterpiece that he had been working on since early morning. With the palette in his left hand, Armaan applied the last strokes with his right thumb very gently as he was afraid that his masterpiece would shatter into pieces with even the slightest of pressure. Armaan had lost himself so deeply into his work that he didn't even realize when the right strap of his tainted white overalls broke loose. Armaan slowly removed his thumb away from the cheekbone of the painting and looked at it mesmerized. He wasn't sure where to begin praising this painting.
He had seen this woman only once at his university's studio. He wasn't certain if she was real or a wax doll at first due to the fact that she hadn't moved a muscle during the five minutes that he had stood there. He had wanted to stay longer but he forced himself to leave as he had a physics exam that he had to attend to. After the exam, he had gone back to the studio to catch another glimpse of her, but she had already left. For the remainder of the day she had been etched into his mind. Every time his thoughts wandered in her direction, a new feature would appear. Whether it be her almond shaped green eyes, her porcelain smooth skin or rosy pink plump lips; everything about her appealed to him. He wanted to get to know her. He wanted to be with her. Hold her, look at her, touch her, and even kiss her. He wanted to do all that and more.
As the night had carried on, he started to get a feeling of paranoia. What if he forgot how she looked like by the time he goes back to university? What if he mistakes her for someone else? He felt her image slipping away like the grains of sand in an hour glass. He hadn't wasted any more time as he had ran into the abandoned room and brought out his canvas and tubes of paint. He quickly plastered all the different colors onto the palette, mixed them with his fingers messily and had got to work. He quickly made outlines of her slender body as he had remembered from the studio. He then started filling in the rest of the details.
Armaan hadn't even realized when the sun had woken up from its slumber and stood high up in the sky adding perfect luminosity to the painting. Armaan just stared at those almond shaped eyes that were looking up at the ceiling as if it was waiting for an answer. Armaan's eyes averted from hers and wandered outside to his front gate. He saw that a woman had fallen down on her bike and was leaning against the black front gate to support her. He craned his neck to the left to get a better view of the woman's face as her smooth and shiny hair was covering it. It was when the woman had flipped her hair to the back, that he was able to see it. And was he ever surprised. Armaan had never thought that he would be able to see that gorgeous face so soon. He noticed her looking around probably wondering where the nearest bus stand is located as her bike's rear tire had punctured.
Subconsciously, Armaan dropped the palette, got out of his overalls, scrubbed his face and hands free from any signs of paint, put on a fresh pair of clothes and dashed out the front door towards his gorgeous woman. He finished the front white stoned path in five large steps and held himself by the front gates to prevent himself from crashing into it. He swiftly opened it and stepped outside. He wanted to say something, but didn't want to scare her. Before he was able to make a move, the gorgeous woman turned around and ' although a bit surprised ' was relieved to see someone. Armaan lost himself in those almond shaped eyes once more and forgot how to breathe.
"Hi." The woman in front of him spoke. That one word rang like wind chimes in his ears and straight to his soul. He felt like capturing that single two-lettered word and keeping it to himself. He felt as if ever in the future, he got lonely or scared; he can just listen to that one word and feel warm and safe. He felt himself come back to reality as he saw the gorgeous woman in front of him snap her fingers saying something. His hearing ability came back to reality as well as he heard her say "Hello.
"Are you okay?" She asked him concerned.
"Yeah." He said still dazed. "Just' spaced out a little." He said weakly.
"You look a bit weak. Here, have a drink." She offered. Armaan looked on at her as she pulled out a water bottle and passed it to him. He tentatively took the water bottle from her hands and put the nozzle to his lips. He just couldn't believe that he was drinking the same water as she does. That he's touching her water bottle. His lips are touching the same nozzle as hers does. Wait' his lips are touching the same nozzle as hers? Armaan inwardly slaps himself on the face as he realizes that he was supposed to have a waterfall not just drink from it. He quickly steals a glance at the woman in front of him and sees her avert her eyes away from him. He takes the bottle away from his lips and closes it. He opens his mouth to say something but no words come out. The woman in front bends her head a little, beckoning him to go on but he just freezes.
"Ah..." The last coherent thing that Armaan remembers doing is giving out a sigh before his knees betray him, making him plummet to the ground. _____________________________________________________________________________
Hi there! So, this is my first OS on ArSh, although I didn't expect it to turn out this way. š
I was actually gonna write a little blurb on Armaan but ended up writing this. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue this or where the story will lead to. If you guys have any ideas then do let me know.
Oh! And if you guys know of a good title for this then please do tell me! š
