Posting this on Nihu's behalf as she isn't around but she had promised she would post Part 7 today!

Part 7

Anjali invites Khushi and Payal to dinner much to Arnavs annoyance; he can't get why his sister is being so nice to two stranger girls who had obnoxious habits and had been getting onto his nerves. His brotherly instinct hadn't failed to notice the exchange of looks between payal and akash and he knew there was something brewing for sure. He knew this type very well. They were the kind that would trap rich boys for money by pretending to be innocent and sweet. Akash didn't know better but he as a brother it was his duty to tell him, and he would after they would go back home.

As they are driving to the restaurant, Anjali starts talking to Khushi and exchanging details of what she does and where she lives. Arnav doesn't like the idea of his sister sharing so many details but he says nothing for now. He would tell his di, once they would return home that she shouldn't trust people this easily. So what if she had invited them to dinner, they could have refused. But they didn't. However he can't help but notice how his sister had been laughing to her hearts content after so long especially since his jeejaji was out of country.
Arnav knew how his sister clung to anyone that showered her with love and affection and would readily make friends.

In college everyone would exploit Anjali and her goodness only because she could not say no. Girls would come home, take away her best stuff, saying they liked it and she would readily share it with them. Arnav would get really angry, but couldn't say anything as Anjali would always defend them since they were her friends. However when the time arrived none of them would side her, they wouldn't turn up for her birthdays make excuses, they wouldn't help her with notes if she fell sick. One day, Anjali's heart broke when she had walked in on a couple of friends who were making fun of her limp, and calling her an idiot. They had laughed at how she readily did things only to find acceptance and how she was a weak hearted loser.
Arnav had seen his sister cry for days after this, and he had told her, as long as he was around she didn't need friends.

An: kab tak hum sacchayi se mooh modenge chote, (she had retorted) … shayad yehi sach hai … haan … hum kamzor hai … hume apne dosto ke pasand aur na pasand ka bahut khayal hai … shayad hum hi main koi kami hogi jo … un logo ko yeh sab lagta hai …

Arnav was infuriated… for gods sakes di !! what is wrong with you… aap un logo ki actions ko justify kar rahi ho? Wo log jo aapke bare main care nahi karte … wo log jo aapke peeth peeche aapka mazaak udaate hai …??? Maine keh dia na .. aaj se, aap bina dekhe samjhe kisi se aise dosti nahi karengi … and that's final…

Anjali though older, knew she would have to abide by this since she knew her brother meant well. This had turned Anjali into a loner of sorts since she seldom had girl friends for company. Arnav and Akash tried to make up for it, but she missed having the kind of girly fun she had wanted to have. This obviously was totally not known to Arnav since for him that kind of fun didn't exist. Even if it did, for him it was superficial and fake and the social events he had been forced to visit had further cemented the idea. He would see how people would act fake and pretend to have fun, but bitch behind their backs. He found the whole idea hypocritical and hence, after a period of time stopped attending such events altogether once he reached a position when he could afford to do so.

Anjali's laughter to Khushi's joke reminded Arnav of the times in college when Anjali had laughed with her friends and he brake stopped the car with a sudden jerk. Everyone was startled as they fell forward. Payal fell forward as Akash instinctively turned around to hold her hand showing concern. There is an exchange of looks as Payal blushes and looks away. Akash moves his hand away embarrassed and Payal and Anjali notice this together and exchange a look of understanding whats happening and they clear their throat together … Arnav gets annoyed and grits his teeth in anger … Anjali looks at the worried look on Arnavs face and asks him …
An: Kya hua chote…. Aap theek toh ho na … ( Anjali asked out of concern)

Khu: haan, zara dhyaan se gaadi chalayiye na …ek toh driver ko bhej dia … aur uspe khud theek se gadi bhi nahi chala rahey aap ….
Arn: Look here you … (looks at his sister's face and tones down a little) … driver ko hume tumhare waajey se bhejna pada …. Warna ….
Khu: hume koi shauk nahi tha aapki is badi si Lorry main aane ka … issey accha hum apne scooty main aa jaate .. haina jeeji …
Anjali: dekhiye please aap dono jhagdiye mat … warna hume bura lagega .. aur chote .. please aap gaadi dhyaan se chalayiye …

Arnav doesn't like the thought that Anjali is actually siding Khushi and has befriended her this fast. As they reach the restaurant, Anjali slightly slips as she is about to get off the car. Arnav is quick to turn to his sister to support her, but this time he is a little late as Khushi has already held Anjali and has stopped her from falling. Since both of Arnav and Khushi end up holding Anjali together a tip of their hands almost touch, and Arnav moves it away instantly as though he had just registered a shock. Khushi is unaffected, as she goes on to hold Anjali for longer and helps her walk a certain distance.

Payal and Akash maintain their talking through the eyes romance throughout the dinner, while Arnav is mostly silent. He cant handle this kind of a chatter and noise, as he for sure knows this kind of fun and banter means danger later. He doesn't know whats wrong with his brother and sister who seem to be totally smitten by these new entrants so much so that he was being neglected and he didn't like the idea one bit. He was used to being the centre of their attention always as they always paid heed to what he said and did. But somehow the happiness on their face also stopped him for saying or doing anything.

A while later when he couldn't take it anymore Arnav for the first time in his life was relieved to see his phone ring. He looked at it and smiled as he left without excusing himself. He was a changed man once he had returned as there a slight, twisted smile plastered on his face. Anjali had tried to engage him a conversation but he didn't talk much but replied in just one word here and there. Khushi didn't like this man one bit and thought he was arrogant and rude. There was no need for him to behave this way with her right from the first time they had met. She had committed to folly for him to make her feel like dirt. Leave alone having a decent conversation, he was making her feel she didn't belong here and he was just doing her a favour by allowing her to survive in the same space as him for the little time they were together. This made her not want to start or even initiate a conversation with him or extend an olive branch, and perhaps start a decent conversation with him. She had always been a person who was quick to make friends and see the good side of life, but this man had just made everything around them turn so gloomy. Khushi felt an unknown pain when she was around this man. A pain that she perhaps wanted to sooth but since she had felt this way for the first time around she wasn't sure about how she should respond to it.
She told herself … "itni badi jagah hai, aur shayad yahan ka khaana hai … jiske wajah se hume jale main kuch ajeeb sa lag raha hai …. Aur yeh aadmi … bilkul humare saamne baitha hai … issi liye … shayad hume aise lag raha hai … "

But she couldn't explain the fast beating of her heart and the strange feeling that she had never felt or experienced before …. She would go back home and talk to her sister about it … but for now, she didn't want to disturb her as she had never seen her sister also behave this way before. Payal had always been the reserved kinds and her turning to Akash was endearing.
Just as Khushi was lost in her thoughts, yet trying to stay as involved in Anjali's chatter and conversation, her mouth fell open as she saw a man standing right in front of her.
