Chapter 2

"Dad am fine'quit worrying. Am not alone here Muski is with me" Shilpa spoke on the phone as she prepared the coffee.

"You should come back, I don't like living by myself" her dad (Jay) replied.

"You wanted me to learn how to be independent right? Now that am trying, you are calling me back'this is not fair dad" Shilpa pouted. Yes she missed him but she can't go back.

"Ok ok sorry beta'but keep in touch with me and take care"

"Yes I will dad, I'll talk to you later'bye dad take care'love you" She hung up the phone and poured the coffee in to the two cups and took them out in the living room.

"Uncle needs to stop worrying" Muskaan laughed as she saw Shilpa approaching.

"Yes, but as you know after mom he has this fear of losing me" Shilpa handed her one cup and sat on the couch.

"Just keep assuring him that you can take care of yourself'actually I'll talk to him later" Muskaan patted her back.

Shilpa's mom died two years ago due to cancer. They had perfect family but everything changed after her death. Shilpa's dad used to be fun, loving, and funny guy but he changed after his wife's death. Shilpa has been his support and he is getting back to himself because of Shilpa. She was shocked herself but she stayed stronger just for her dad. She loved her mom very much'she was her best friend and she misses her very much.

"Armaan, are you free tomorrow evening?" His mom Ananya asked while serving breakfast.

"I don't know'depends on the work load" He replied and sipped his orange juice.

"I want to know by tomorrow afternoon" She strictly said passing a glass of milk to Tanya.

"Why though? Mom am in medical school don't expect me to be free" He said with irritation.

"I want you to meet this girl'she is from a wealthy family and she is your type"

"What?? How many times do I have to tell you that I am not ready to get married yet'can I finish my studies?" he rolled his eyes and looked over at Tanya who was giggling at him "What? Shut up" he glared at her.

"Why don't you meet her once? Or do you already have a girlfriend that am unaware of?" she asked in a raised voice.

"Yes I already have a girlfriend and I love her a lot" Armaan lied in frustration.

"Are you just saying that to get away from this topic or do you really mean it? Who is the girl?" Ananya questioned.

"Umm her name is'.uh'"

"Shilpa" Tanya whispered in his ears.

"Shilpa" he said out loud without realizing whose name he just mentioned.

"Shilpa? As long as I know none of your friends name is Shilpa" Ananya said perplexedly.

Armaan was shocked as he realized what he told her. Not Anjali, not Nikki, but Shilpa? He just met her twice. Then he looked over at Tanya who had an innocent smile on her face.

"Umm am sure I mentioned her before" Armaan said trying to think of what to reply.

"If you really love that girl then prove it Armaan and I would like to meet her once" Ananya replied. She was having doubts that Armaan was lying to her, actually she was pretty sure that he was lying therefore she told him to prove it to her that he loves her. She left the table to get ready for work.

"Tanya! Why did you do that?" Armaan glared while pointing his fork towards her.

"You lied and I supported you'be thankful" She glared back.

Armaan's mom is very strict. Instead of loving her kids, she loves her job and money way more. She never really took care of them; all she knew was how to be strict with them. She never showed her love to them. Armaan's dad is the one who loves them; he shows them the love that their mother should be showing. He took care of all their needs and supported them whenever they needed support. Armaan takes care of Tanya but he is worried about her as he is getting busier in medical school. He spends most his free time with her. He and Rahul, both of them make sure that Tanya is happy. Tanya often gets upset at seeing her classmates with their mom, how they come to school to receive them and drop them. She even talked with her mom about it but Ananya just gets mad saying she is not like other moms and she is busy with her work.

"Are you out of your mind? Kya kiya tune?" Rahul yelled.

"I didn't, Tanya did" Armaan said running his hand through is hair in annoyance.

"She is just a kid'you should have thought before speaking" Rahul retorted.

"Whatever just tell me how to deal with this?" Armaan sighed.

"Only Shilpa can help you out'but I doubt if she will" Rahul replied shaking his head.

"No no, she won't agree'we hardly know each other Rahul"

"Let's give it a try" Rahul patted his shoulder and took him to Shilpa's place.

Shilpa and Muskaan were getting ready to go out for grocery shopping when Armaan and Rahul arrived. Shilpa was concerned to see the worry on Armaan's face and plus Rahul told them that they came to discuss an issue.

"I hope everything is ok?" Shilpa muttered looking at Armaan.

"Nothing is ok'I messed things up" Armaan sighed.

"What happened?" Muskaan asked curiously.

"Umm'"

"Go on Armaan" Rahul said.

"No actually I don't want her to get into this mess; you know how mom is na'" Armaan said getting up.

"Armaan wait'" Rahul made him sit back "Shilpa we just want to ask you something, we won't force you into this but just hear us out"

"Ok'what is it?" Shilpa asked confusedly and nervously.

They told her everything about how Armaan's mom is after him to get married and he is trying to get away from it and finally about him telling her about Shilpa.

"OMG, why her though?" Muskaan asked with her mouth hung open.

"Muskaan relax'and Shilpa will you help him? You don't have to'" Rahul asked. Shilpa looked at Armaan; he had his face buried in his hands.

"I'll have to pretend to be his girlfriend?" Shilpa asked raising her eyebrows.

"Yup" Rahul nodded.

"And his mom is very strict?"

"Yeah"

"Am ready to help" Shilpa smiled. Armaan instantly looked up at her dazed. Did she just agree to be his fake girlfriend?

"Will you?" Armaan asked to make sure if he heard it right.

"Yes I will" She replied and saw his face lit up as he sighed in relief.

"Thank you sooo much" Armaan smiled. He loved how she agreed to help him without even thinking'and plus they don't even know each other that well.

Shilpa thought to herself on why she agreed to do such a thing? She shocked herself by agreeing. But she didn't feel bad about it. This way she will get to know him better she thought.

"When do I have to meet your mom?" She asked.

"Whenever you're free today coz tomorrow we have college" Armaan replied. He still had the smile on his face.

"Shilpu are you sure about this?" Muskaan asked.

"Yes Muski am sure'" She nodded and looked at Armaan "How about tonight?" she asked.

"That works" Armaan winked and she lowered her gaze in shyness.

Soon Armaan and Rahul left and Shilpa and Muskaan continued with the grocery shopping. Shilpa kept on thinking if she'll be able to do it; she really didn't want Armaan to get in trouble. And Armaan on the other hand had full confidence that Shilpa will definitely save him from this mess.
