Chapter 81
July 8, 2011 3:25 am
"Maan," came the soft call, along with a gentle shaking of his arm breaking into his semiconscious mind.
"Hmmm," he replied sleepily, pulling the soft, feminine bundle of his wife closer, if that was possible.
"Maan," called Geet again with more insistence.
"What is it, Geet?" he asked, nuzzling her neck as he waited for an answer.
"Go get us some clothes, will you?" was the sleepy request.
"Why?"
"If JD comes, then..."
"Geet, JD is not coming. I made sure to lock the door. No one will disturb us."
"Maybe not tonight, but we still need to get in the habit. There's no telling when he might decide to sneak in and sleep with us. Go on, now."
"I'll tell you what I'd rather do," said Maan, who began to caress Geet slowly, finding every sensitive place made more sensitive by their recent lovemaking.
"Maan, what are you doing?"
"Now what do you think I would be doing at 3:30 in the morning, with my wife in my arms, in our bed, hmmm Geet?"
A moan was the only response to his question. A first Geet was fairly passive, letting Maan do what he wanted. Soon she wound her arms around his back, actively participating with all thoughts of clothing forgotten.
July 8, 2011 4:10 am
"Maan, please go get us some clothes, and don't be stubborn about it, okay? I'm tired. I'd like to get some sleep."
Maan was tempted to start their lovemaking all over again, just to tease her for continuing to bring up the clothes issue. However, he didn't want his Mishti to get sick from lack of sleep, so he did as requested. Getting up, Maan grabbed a pair of boxers for him and a slip for Geet. Putting it on her quickly before slipping inside the covers, Maan pulled Geet back into his arms and settled down to sleep.
July 8, 2011 10:40 am
Geet was brushing her hair when she felt a pair of strong arms snake around her waist and pull her back into a hard chest. Putting down the brush, she rested her arms over his and squeezed gently in acknowledgement. She smiled as she felt Maan's head rest on her shoulder and him give her ear a small kiss.
"Good morning, Mrs. Khurana," he whispered softly, leaning closer to his her cheek and then her neck.
"Good morning, Mr. Khurana," she replied, tilting her head slightly to give him better access.
"I could get used to waking up like this," said Maan, as he continued to press tiny kissing along her shoulder. "It's almost as good as waking up with you in my arms."
"Don't get too carried away," said Geet, pulling away and putting back the strap of her slip that Maan had been sliding down her shoulder. "It's already late and we need to get ready. Go take a quick shower."
"I have no problems taking a shower, as long as we're together," said Maan, turning Geet back towards him and trapping her in his arms.
"I don't think so. I know you and your naughtiness. If we shower together, it will be afternoon before we get out of this room, and we don't have any time to waste," said Geet sternly, trying to break free.
"Afternoon? I vote we never leave this room again."
"Maan, will you be serious?"
"I am serious. Making love to you any time I want, without interruption, for the rest of our life sounds perfect to me. Why would you think I wasn't serious?"
"Ha. Ha. You are sooo funny. And how would we go about getting food in this perfect life of yours, not to mention go on our honeymoon, or do anything else important?"
Maan gave a pout very reminiscent of JD and complained, "Geet, don't you think our love is important?"
Geet rolled her eyes, before wrapping her arms around Maan's neck and saying, "Alright. I will agree to showering together...if you tell me where we are going for our honeymoon."
Maan opened his mouth quickly, paused for a second, and then shut it just as quickly. While he was tempted to give in, he really did want to keep their honeymoon destination a secret. Pretending to contemplate her offer, Maan tried to come up with some other way to coax his reluctant wife into giving in.
"So, are you going to tell me?" Geet asked, smiling at the look of consternation on Maan's face.
"The thing is, Geet...well, actually..."
"Maan, you either will tell or you won't tell. Which is it?" When he hesitated slightly, Geet pulled out from his embrace, saying, "Okay, then, we shower separately. Now hurry up. It's already so late, I can see Dadi or Di coming here soon, banging on the door to get us going. That would be embarrassing."
Geet pushed Maan off to the bathroom, and then started cleaning up a bit once he was gone. Their clothes where scattered on the floor around the bed, and the bed itself, well she quickly set about rearranging the sheets neatly. Despite having overcome her inhibitions with Maan, she still would feel too embarrassed for anyone to see the very obvious evidence of their night of passion.
Geet had just finished putting the pillows back at the head of the bed, when Maan stepped out of the bathroom. Looking at the magnificent form of her husband, who wore only a towel around his waist, Geet felt herself becoming mesmerized. He looked so sexy with his wet hair dripping fat drops of water onto his naked chest and torso. As he walked toward her, gazing at her with lethal doses of raw intensity, Geet could feel her breath slowly fading away. What was left, was stolen by his expert lips, which teased and played with Geet's own.
Both were so involved with each other that they were well on the way to being carried away in the moment, until a knock, followed by, "GT, Uncle, are you awake yet?" came to interrupt the sensual moment.
Maan looked a bit put out by his nephew's interruption, and he could hardly be blamed. Geet giggled at the scowl that stole over her face, showing little sympathy with his frustration, both physical and mental. After all, they lived in a house with a little boy who treated them like his parents. There were bound to be interruptions, and they would have to deal with them.
Geet went to open the door, and when she did, a little body flung itself at her and said, "GT, I missed you!"
"I missed you too, JD," replied Geet, giving him a big hug back.
"Tayi said that you and Uncle were up really late last night, and that we had to let you sleep. I waited a long time GT, before I knocked on the door. One thing. I want to know, how come you and Uncle were up so late that you slept so much? Nobody else slept so much. What were you doing?"
Not able to pass up the opportunity to tease Maan over his naughty behavior, Geet looked at him quite seriously and said, "Yes, Maan, explain to JD why we were up so late."
Maan looked from JD's expectant face, to Geet's smirk, and then back at JD, clearing his throat uncomfortably. "Uh...well, JD...the, uh...answer to your question is yesterday, GT and I got married."
"I know that, Uncle."
"Right, well...so after getting married, GT came to stay in my room. I mean, now my room is also her room."
"I know that too." Geet smiled as she saw Maan struggling to explain to JD in a way that was appropriate for his age, and failing miserably. "But, you're not answering my question, Uncle."
"Okay, what I'm trying to say, JD, is when two people get married, and they start living in the same room, they have to get used to each other. So, GT and I were up late talking, getting to know one another better."
"Talking?" came the confused question from JD. "You and GT were talking? But you talk all the time already."
Geet burst out laughing, while Maan closed his eyes in frustration. "You're right, JD, but when two people get married, they do special talking. You will understand when you're older."
Geet felt it was time to intervene before Maan dug himself into an even bigger hole with JD. She told JD to make sure that his uncle got dressed while she went to take a shower. As she went to take out some clothes and make her way to the bathroom, Geet couldn't get rid of the smile on her face, listening to JD's childish instructions to Maan on how to get ready.
July 8, 2011 11:28 am
"Dadima, Tayi, everyone," called JD running down the stairs ahead of Maan and Geet, "look, Uncle and GT are awake now!"
The family came walking out of the drawing room to see the couple walking slowly down the stairs, their fingers interlaced tightly. Both of them came to Dadi for her blessing, which was given happily. Dev tried to tease Maan and Geet about the wedding night, but Naintara put a stop to that, reminding him that children were present.
JD came back to Geet's side, giving her a hug and saying, "Now GT can make my lunch. GT, I want peanut butter and jelly."
All the adults laughed, especially at JD's pout when Dadi told him that she couldn't make his lunch today. JD demanded to know why, in a perfect imitation of his uncle, clearly not happy with the idea. Dadi explained that it was tradition that when a girl married, she didn't have to do any housework until her menhendi faded completely. That included making lunch.
JD frowned for a while, and then his face brightened. Lifting up his decorated lion hand, he asked, "Does that mean I don't have to clean my room until my lion is gone?"
Geet gave him her "don't even think it" look, and firmly said, "Nice try, but no. You still have to clean your room."
Again everyone laughed, and then made their way to the dining room. Mrs. Gupta was staying for a few weeks and had taken it upon herself to prepare their meals. As they all settled down for lunch, Geet asked Naintara if she would help her put on her saree for the Mooh Dikhai function. Naintara agreed, but Maan interrupted saying he was her husband, so he is the one she should ask.
"Maan, you don't know how to put saree any more than I do."
"Maybe not, but I'm sure I can take it off well enough." Geet gasped at Maan's boldness in front of the family, before blushing in embarrassment.
Leaning close to whisper in his ear, Geet threatened, "Stop teasing me, or I swear I will tell JD to ask you more about the special 'talking' people do when they get married."
Maan choked on his juice and looked at Geet in horror. The last thing he wanted to do was try and explain the facts of life to a six year old. Geet did her best not to smile at the terror she saw on Maan's face. She wouldn't really do what she threatened, but it sure was funny to make her naughty husband think she would in payback for all the trouble he was giving her.
July 8, 2011 12:50 pm
Maan watched quietly in the background, as one by one the women came forward to give Geet a gift before lifting the end of her saree pallu to view her face. She was looking especially beautiful in the pink saree she had chosen, something that everyone remarked on. Whenever she would glance towards where he was standing, a slight blush accompanied by a charming glow, would steal over her features. It made him want to grab her hand, pull her away back to their room for another round of sweet lovemaking. As much as Maan was tempted to do just that, he knew Geet and Dadi both would kill him.
"Now that the Mooh Dikhai is over, it's time for the fun to start. Maan, come sit over hear by Geet. While I go get the milk ready, you search for your name in Geet's mehendi. If you find it by the time I get back, then you win. If not, then Geet wins."
"Wins what?" asked Maan.
"Wins dominance in your married life," answered Dev. "It's the same thing with the fishing the ring. Whoever finds the ring in the milk first, is the person who decides the course of the marriage."
"If the goal is the same, then what's the point of doing both?"
Various answers were giving, ranging from tradition to fun to giving each spouse more than one chance to win. The discussion continued for a while until Arjun pointed out that Maan was loosing time to find his name. Maan searched and searched, looking everywhere for his name, running his fingers up and down Geet's hands, and generally making her squirm with his feather light touches.
When Dadi came in holding a large bowl filled with milk and rose petals, she asked if he had found the name yet. The women happily replied no, but Maan quickly stopped their celebration. In just two seconds he deftly took off the wedding and engagement rings from Geet's left hand, held her hand up close, and read off the letters of his name to the amazement of everyone.
"You knew your name was there, didn't you?" asked Geet. "Then why did you waste all that time looking?"
"It wasn't a waste of time. Touching my Mishti is never a waste of time for me."
"Okay, you two love birds, if you've finished your cooing, it's time for the next game."
July 8, 2011 2:15 pm
Maan stared at Geet with a smirk on his face. "Be prepared to loose again, my dear wife."
"You are the one who needs to be prepared. You might have found the ring the first time, but I found it the second time. I don't intend to loose."
Dadi gave the count down and then they both plunged their hands into the milk. Geet was determined that she should win this time. When she felt the ring, she grabbed it quickly and tried to lift it up, but it seemed to be stuck. Then she felt a tug, and realized that Maan held the other side. She tugged back, and as the tugging between them continued, their hands lifted out of the the bowl, revealing to all that they both had found the ring.
"Maan, won the first time, Geet won the second time, and third time is a draw," announced Dadi.
"This means that since Bro found his name, he is the one who will be dominant," said Dev, as the men cheered.
"Not so fast," interrupted Annie. "There is still one more game yet to play."
July 8, 2011 2:30 pm
Maan and Geet were standing inside the gazebo, having their hands tied behind their backs by Naintara and Pinky, as Annie explained the game. "It's fairly simple. You both are going to try to eat this apple that I have hung here. The first one to take a bite wins."
"Maan, being stronger and taller is sure to win," commented Adi, much to the anger of the young women.
"You might just want to consult my husband about that," remarked Annie, looking at Arjun slyly. "After all, we played this game at our wedding, so he is an expert on who would win and why."
Arjun looked around embarrassed, causing the men to start their teasing, as they assumed from his wife's comment that she had won the game. Arjun explained that they could tease all they wanted, but trying to eat a swinging apple was not as easy as it sounded. They argued amongst themselves about who would win, until Geet broke in with a complaint.
"Annie, I know perfectly well what the point of playing this game is, and I don't want to do it," she said, looking at the elders standing around, and thinking about how uncomfortable she would feel with them watching.
Maan knew the reason she was objecting and couldn't keep from saying, "That's alright if you don't want to play, Geet. You can forfeit to me. I never have a problem with winning."
Geet looked at him in annoyance. "Just because I don't want to play, doesn't mean that you win!"
"Actually, Geet, that's exactly what it means," said Dadi, walking over to them. "But, I don't see why you have a problem playing. After all, if you could kiss in front of me and JD before you were even engaged, I don't see why it should worry you if a little kiss happens accidentally, now that you are married."
Geet blushed and looked down, feeling like she just wanted to run away. She felt like she blushed more today than she had her entire life, due to everyone's teasing. However, she felt the lioness inside rise up in challenge as she saw the look on her smirking husband's face. She agreed to play the game, and after Naintara helped to tuck in her pallu, Annie started the apple swinging.
They both began circling around , making half hearted attempts to bite the moving fruit, as they sized each other up. Once they began in earnest, that was when it became more challenging. As they would attempt to move around and lunge at the apple, inevitably they would go off balance, bumping into each other. The more they touched, the harder it was to stay focussed on the goal.
At one point, Geet made a try that really looked like she would succeed, but instead she fell forward on Maan, her lips resting right on his cheek. Maan couldn't control himself and turned his head, capturing her lips with his own for a quick kiss. The men whistled, and the women giggled, while Geet felt her face turning bright red.
"Stop cheating!" she cried, trying to cover up her mortification by accusing him.
"How was I cheating?" asked Maan.
"You were trying to distract me by unfair methods."
"Geet, Annie said that we have to try and eat the apple. She never said that we can't kiss while doing so. Anyways, if a little kiss like that is such a distraction for you, then maybe it would be better if you just admitted that I win and you lose."
"Never! I'll show you that Geet Khurana never loses."
Geet again tried to eat the apple, and the competition resumed. She and Maan continued to bump into each other, and she would consciously remind herself to ignore his presence and his hot breath on her cheek, or ear, or wherever she happened to feel it. The game continued for quite some time, and Geet was starting to get tired. It was no easy thing to stand for so long with your hands tied behind you.
Maan also seemed to be a little tired, for when the apple bumped into his cheek, he did nothing as it settled to a stop between his lips and hers. Geet looked into his eyes and felt herself drowning in their dark brown depths. It wasn't until he blinked slowly, breaking the eye contact, that Geet realized her opportunity. Using the presence of her husband to steady the apple, Geet opened her mouth and took a large bite.
All the women cheered, and the men groaned at her victory. Geet smiled and lifted her brows with attitude at Maan, as she chewed. Maan just shrugged, before he leaned forward to take his own bite from the same spot where she had eaten.
As their hands were untied, Dadi said, "With Geet winning this game, the results are this: Maan won in finding his name, Maan and Geet tied fishing for the ring, and Geet won eating the apple. It appears that Maan and Geet will be perfect life partners together, with neither dominant over the other, but both equal in the marriage."
July 8, 2011 9:00 pm
"Geet, do you have everything, including your passport? Veerji was very insistent that your passport must be taken."
"Yes, Di, I have everything." Geet checked through her purse one more time, before she noticed JD's tearful face.
"JD, what's wrong?" she asked, hurrying over and bending her head down near his.
"I don't want you to go," he cried, throwing his arms around her waist. "You said you'd never leave me. You said you would stay with me and never leave again. You promised!"
"JD, I'm not leaving you, I'm going on honeymoon with Uncle. We will just be gone for a few days and then be right back home."
"Nooo!" wailed JD, burying his head into her side, clearly upset at her imminent departure.
The entire family was at O'Hare to say goodbye to Maan and Geet who were to bored a plane in just a few minutes. JD had been quite happy all day, but now with the prospect of seeing his GT leave, his distress came to the fore. No amount of suggestions to take care of Stella and play with Harsh, get hugs from Dadi, Taya and Tayi could make up for the loss of the most important woman in his life.
"Look, JD, I want to show you something," said Geet, maneuvering the little boy so that she could pull out her phone. "Look, JD, I have the Skype app on my phone now. I will call you on Skype every day while I'm gone so that you can see me."
"Really?" JD sniffled.
"Really. We will talk on Skype every day, I promise."
JD was still upset, but he finally agreed to let go of his death grip on Geet. Dev took him into his arms, still whimpering, as Maan and Geet left to go through security. Their first stop was California, but after that, Geet still had no idea. As much as it hurt to leave JD upset, she was that excited for the surprise her husband and planned for their honeymoon.
No, the story is not finished yet, however, it is nearing the end. With that in mind, the updates will not be quite as frequent as they have been, though I promise to update at least once a week, if not more until the end. But, don't get too sad, for there is still some more story left to tell.
