MAITHILI AND CHIRAAG AGAIN:

Maithili was furious. In fact, she was enraged.

"WHY ON EARTH DID U GO AND ATTACK PIYA?" she yelled, glaring at Chiraag, who lay curled up on the floor, his hand clutching the back of his head where he had hit the tree. "I TOLD YOU TO WAIT TILL HER 21^ST BIRTHDAY!!"

Chiraag (wincing in pain as he looked at her) - I wasn't going to kill her. U know I'm bound by the bond of debt to you. I can't kill her now, before the time u want. I just wanted to scare her a little. It was a perfect day to do that. Her mother, dear Sugandh Mehra left her on that very day 14 years ago.(His eyes darkened)- I was just going to hurt her a little. She is a shame to my existence. She reminds me of the weakling I was before I turned to a werewolf! And I would have succeded if she hadn't been rescued by your dearest Abhay-"

Maithili (sharply) - What? What did u say? Rescued by Abhay? Abhay? My Abhayendra?

Chiraag (glaring at her) - That's right! Your dearest Abhayendra attacked me and saved his Piya-

Maithili (covering her ears with her hands) - STOP! Abhayendra is mine, and mine only! How dare that -? O, she will pay! Once she has served her purpose, she will pay! But I need to keep them apart first (becomes dreamy) - I have a plan-it has to work-yes-(turns to Chiraag, a smile curving her lips) - How long will it take for u to recover fully?

Chiraag (confused by her sudden smile) - I should heal completely by the next full moon when I transform-

Maithili (with a high-pitched laugh) - Yes! Now listen, this is what u will do. When the next full moon comes-(she started to tell Chiraag about her plan)

THURSDAY: JAISWAL HOUSE

Misha- What???? No way am I going to that party!

Arnab- O yes u r. The Raichands have invited the whole family and we r all going.

Misha- But I don't like them Papa! And that Abhay! Thinks no end of himself! Right, Piya?

Piya didn't say anything. Abhay had ignored her today all the while. He had not even glanced at her, and when she had called him once, he had pretended not to hear. He had walked right past her as though she were invisible. And it hurt, this ignoring, this silence. Yes, it hurt like hell. She remembered how he had saved her yesterday, how he had comforted her. And today- today he acted as if she didn't exist! Who did he think he was? She was determined to speak to him tomorrow. And, actually, she was quite eager to go to the party. She would get to see him more. So, she didn't say anything.

Misha (angrily) - Fine! I can see my sister is also not supporting me! Humph!

Stamping her feet, she went away.

Madhu smiled- She will never grow up.

FRIDAY MORNING: ST.MARY'S SCHOOL

"Abhay!" Piya called, hurrying after him in one of the deserted school corridors. Abhay pretended to be busy with the papers he had been told to submit to the Principal. He had realized that he had made a mistake when he had hugged Piya like that. And so he had decided that the best way would be to ignore her until she got tired of chasing him. It had been hard, very hard not to look at her yesterday. Every time any boy, especially Kabir, had even neared her, he had felt like ripping their heads off. And she wasn't making it any easier, chasing him and calling him with every chance she got.

Now, he started to walk away but Piya grabbed his jacket.

Piya- Wait, Abhay! Why r u ignoring me like that?

Abhay stayed silent, his back to Piya, still holding the papers.

Piya(shaking his hand)- Don't pretend, Abhay. I know-

Abhay let the papers fall to the ground. He turned angrily, pinning her against a pillar. He brought his face close to hers, so close that Piya could actually see her face reflected in his ice-blue eyes.

Piya(weakly, as his closeness made her unable to think properly)- Abhay, what-?

Abhay(breathing heavily, his breath washing over her face)- Why the hell r u attaching so much importance to yourself, huh? Just remember-(he grabbed her tighter, and she closed her eyes in pain, trying to break free)- what happened that night was an accident all right?

Anyone would have saved you. And get it clear, Piya Jaiswal. VERY CLEAR. Just because I saved u, it does NOT mean that you get the right to stalk me! UNDERSTAND?( he shook her)

Piya eyes filled with tears as she opened them and looked at Abhay.

"I-I just wanted to t-thank u Abhay. For s-saving me. Not once, but twice now. But u weren't giving me the chance. S-sorry.

The tears slid down her cheeks. Abhay hated himself for making her cry. He really was heartless. But he wouldn't, he couldn't allow her to come closer. If she ever knew who he was-

Stop crying, Piya, he thought. Don't. Don't make me weak like this. Believe me, when u will know who I am, u will run away in disgust.

The thought caused him pain, as he stared at her, watching more tears falling from her beautiful eyes. He had still not let go off her. It was then that he noticed the cut on her forehead.

" What's this, Piya?" he asked, touching the cut. " When did u get this?"

Piya tried to move away, tears still poring down her cheeks. "Nothing, just a cut, doesn't hurt- Abhay- please move- I must go and help- "

"Just a cut?" said Abhay softly. He pressed his fingers on the cut. Piya winced.

" Ow, Abhay, what r u- "

" Just a cut that doesn't hurt, I thought?" Abhay smirked, moving closer to her.

Piya's eyes widened. " Abhay-"

The next thing she knew, Abhay's lips touched her forehead. She was totally unprepared for the feeling that rushed through her body then. A jolt of electricity rushed through her. She felt light-headed, as if she were flying. Abhay was kissing her? She clenched her hands into fists to control the rainbow of emotions swirling in her.

Abhay removed his lips from her forehead and looked at her gently, as his fingers lightly touched the spot where he had kissed her, where she had cut herself the night she had been attacked. This time, incredibly, there was no pain. Had his kiss made her numb?she thought, as she stared back at him, her heart hammering in her ribs.

Abhay pressed his right palm to her left cheek gently and touched her lower lip with his thumb. Piya shivered at his touch, hypnotized by his eyes "Does it hurt now?" he asked softly.

Piya managed to shake her head. She was feeling weak in the knees, her ears and face seemed to be on fire.

Abhay was still staring at her. " you look so like Maithili." He whispered. Piya looked at him, confused. " Maithili?" she whispered.

Abhay came out of his trance, cursing himself for his fatal and stupid mistake. He bent down gathering the papers he had dropped. He turned and walked away without a word.

Piya,still blushing,touched her forehead, where his lips had touched her skin."He healed me with a kiss? Now, what is that? And who is Maithili? I am sure I've heard the name somewhere. Maithili'did he kiss me because I look like Maithili? Who is she?(feels a little jealous)- I swear , Abhay Raichand, I will find out!"
