"What are you doing here?" her asked, closing the refrigerator door and throwing the room into darkness once again.
"Standing in a corner in the dark, hoping you'll either turn the light on or open the door again."
"Don't act smart with me!" he hissed taking a step towards her, "others may find it amusing but it's just plain annoying."
"I'm not acting. You asked a stupid question and I responded accordingly," she replied refusing to back down.
"Khushi!" he sneered, taking two long strides towards her.
"Yes?" she asked, now slightly amused and standing up straight as she saw his silhouette moving towards her.
"No one talks to me like that," he replied, now standing right in front of her.
"Why not?" she replied, now playing and wondering when he would burst.
"What do you mean why not?"
"Why don't people talk to you normally?"
"That was no normal conversation."
"How would you know, when was the last time you had a normal conversation with someone?"
"I... uh... There is no use in wasting time talking about life's mediocre aspects."
"What is mediocre for you may not be for another." Khushi pressed, even as she could hear his breathing getting hollow as he tried to suppress his anger.
"Yes, but what is unimportant to me I refuse to waste my time upon it," he replied gritting his teeth and turned to walk away from her back towards the fridge with his head held up high, "and the answer to your first question, because they are afraid of me."
"Even if it means a lot to the person you love?" she asked, cursing herself for the questions knowing this might just be the final straw.
"What?!" he sputtered, halting and turning back to look at her.
"Well from what I've seen and heard so far you love Anjali di more than anything and would apparently do anything for her," replied tentatively, straining her eyes to make out his facial expressions.
"What's your point?"
"Well then why did you refuse to attend the Bhai Dhuj Puja tomorrow?"
"Because it is not important." He turned and continued on his path to the fridge.
"But Anjali di and her feelings are?" Khushi continued, refusing to be put off by his difficult demeanour.
"It's none of your business!" he derided and huffed out of the kitchen as Khushi called after him, "at least take what you came for."

"She hasn't been here for more than two days and she's lecturing me!" he said irritably, walking into the back garden. Picking up the small watering can Arnav walked towards his plants.
"Who waters plants at night?" Khushi questioned, interrupting Arnav's thoughts and standing at the doorway opening into the garden.
"Go away," he replied briskly.
"Don't they sleep at night? How'd you feel if I poured a can of water onto you whilst you were sleeping?"
"Shut up!" He shouted, turning around as the watering can hit the floor with a clang.
"I'm sorry. I just couldn't sleep, normally I talk to Payal or my brother, Ansh, when I can't sleep but I can't at the moment," she replied in one breath, taking a step back into the house and looking down, "I'll leave."
What a haughty personality? I was just trying to make conversation, trying to remove the awkwardness from the airport scene. Hmmm, maybe I made it slightly more awkward, probably shouldn't have delved in so deep during the first proper conversation. Can it even be called a proper conversation? Doubt he's ever had one. Khushi thought, as she made her way back towards her room.
How was it? Thanks so much for the responses guys. Look forward to hearing more from you all!
