PART 13

Recap : Siddhant meets Anjali at the International Medicos Conference in Delhi and when she enquires abt Neha, he tells her they did not marry. She says she has something to tell him and asks him if they could talk. 3 hours later, Sid is zipping through the streets of Mumbai after cancelling his talk at the Conference. He remembers how he'd asked to save the baby that day after the accident. He reaches Panchgani and meets Shilpa and a three year old boy.

Voice : Riddhan, you haven't finished your meal.. Get back here or I'm going to get really angry..

Sid looked up from where he was hugging the boy to look at the owner of the voice. She emerged a few seconds later, in a simple green churidar and Sid wondered how he'd ever managed to stay away from her. It seemed like ages since he'd last seen her but she was just as beautiful as always.

Voice : Riddh..

Her words died on her lips as she saw the person at the door. The one person she thought she'd never see again.

Riddhima : Sid?!!

Her voice was barely a whisper.

Sid gently put the boy back on his feet and gazed at her. Inadvertently, his thoughts drifted back to when he had last seen her.

*flashback* Hours later after he had asked Dr. Astha to save the baby, Dr. Aastha had brought out Riddhima's and Armaan's son and told Sid that it was a miracle but they'd managed to save them both. Again, she said that it was the power of his love but Sid knew that it wasn't him. As he held the baby in his arms, he felt the same emotion well in his heart that he had felt when he felt him kick for the first time. Only this time what he felt was a 1000 times more powerful and overwhelming. Looking at the sleeping baby's face, he knew that he could hold no grudge against anyone ' not Riddhima, not Armaan and most definitely not against this angel sleeping in his arms. He had softly kissed the baby on his forehead. Then he'd made his way to Riddhima, still holding onto the baby tight. He had prayed from the bottom of his heart for Riddhima and the baby to be safe and he'd promised himself if they were safe, he would agree to anything Riddhima wanted ' be it accepting her as his wife or walking out of her life. He had sat next to her, holding the baby close to his heart for long hours till Riddhima had regained consciousness. Riddhima had taken the baby from him and he'd seen her eyes well up with tears. Then she'd look up at him. Instinctively, he knew that she remembered everything. There had been so much in her eyes ' guilt, remorse, pain, hurt, aching ' all gathering into a storm in her eyes. He recognized all those emotions because he had been there, he'd been through what she was going through especially the pain, hurt and aching ' those had become a part of his being now. But the guilt and remorse he saw in her eyes touched his soul and he knew that he could never hate her. No matter what. She'd apologized to him for all that she'd put him through and thanked him for all he'd done for her and her family. Then she'd calmly stated that she would file for divorce and he could back to his life in the US. True to the promise he'd made to himself, he'd walked out of her life but he had left his life right there with her. This time round, their divorce proceedings had happened without any glitch. *flashback ends*

Now, looking at her, Sid wondered how he had ever been able to walk away from her, stay away from her for so long and even attempt to live without her. His heart squeezed and there was a painful lump at the back of his throat as he tried to speak.

Sid : Riddhima..

Not knowing why he was here, she fought hard to maintain her composure.

Riddhima : Sid.. Tum yahan?

Sid looked at her and his eyes spoke. His eyes told her that he knew the truth.

Shilpa : Riddhan.. Maasi abhi bahar jaa rahi hain. Aap maasi ke saath chaloge?

Both Riddhima's and Sid's eyes were fixed on each other and Shilpa quietly left the house with Riddhan. The soft thud of the door closing behind Shilpa and Riddhan broke Sid and Riddhima's trance.

Riddhima : Kaise ho?

Sid : Hmmm..

He nodded absently making his way towards her, eyes filling with tears, roaming over her face, taking in every minute detail of it that he had missed seeing all these years.

Riddhima : Neha kaisi hai?

Sid : Theek hai..

Riddhima did not say anything more. She looked away.

Sid : Neha ki ek beti bhi hai.

He told her, wanting to see how she would react. Riddhima felt her heart bleed when he said that. They had a daughter.

Sid : Adopted.

Riddhima looked at him wide eyed.

Sid : 3 years ago, as soon as I went back from Mumbai, we broke off our engagement..

Riddhima looked away.

Sid : Because I realized there was only one woman I could ever love in my life.

His eyes were focused on every flicker of emotion that crossed her face. Riddhima looked at him tears brimming in her eyes. Sid went up to her and hugged her tight.

Sid : Why didn't you tell me the truth Riddhima?

Riddhima could not speak. After years, she was back in the one place where she found her peace, where she always wanted to be. In Sid's arms. She was simply letting the feeling sink in and the tears she'd been holding back for so long broke free. Sid drew away from the hug but did not let go of her.

Sid : I want to hear the truth from you Riddhima.. Tell me.. Please..

Riddhima (crying now, she knew exactly what it was that he wanted to hear) : Riddhan.. Riddhan is not Armaan's son.. He.. He is your son.. Our son..

Hello people!!!!

I really don't know what to say abt this update.. because I don't know how all of you will react to all of this.. I mean.. Riddhima is alive and the baby is Siddhant's and not Armaan's. Some of you I know are going to be super mad at me.. Especially the one's who were looking forward to Riddhima dying..

My sincere apologies to Ovi_Tanni.. I did not mean to strike a personal chord and I'm really sorry for your cousins. I did not want to let out the suspense that Riddhima was alive and thats why I deliberately hinted that Shilpa could be a mother figure in the baby's life. I'm truly sorry for that. Also my apologies to anyone else who feels I've done wrong by misleading you.. Sorry guys... I was only trying to keep the suspense intact...

Also, this is the reason I had to save the baby, because if Riddhima had her memory back, she would definitely want the baby because its Sid's and not you-know-who's. If she did not get her memory back then we don't know how the situation would have changed.

Yeah so tomorrow the truth will be revealed finally 😊
