Part 3- Bit here and there

Nupur pulled the quilt over her eyes as the sunrays were disturbing her sleep. She turned. Then suddenly she realized she had to go for work. "Oh no" She checked her cell, it was 8.00 am. She wasn't late as she had to report at 10. She was relieved. But then she realized about Mayank. She threw her comforter away and ran out. She hurriedly opened her door and went to check on Mayank. But alas his door was locked. She wanted to wish him. She frowned as she missed him by few minutes. "Idiot couldn't have woken me up!" She muttered and went to get ready. She checked her cell phone and found Mayank's message. She had forgotten to ask his cell number which showed that he had taken hers and saved his without informing her. "Good morning J Didn't wanted to break ur sleep as I know how much u love it :D, see ya soon" A smile crept on her face. She checked her to do list and heaved a sigh as there were few.

She made Aloo parathas as she had time. She had two, and remaining packed it in tiffin. She took her things and left for the hospital. While driving, she went back to her good old days when she used to have so much fun with Mayank and other friends. But then all went their own ways. She cleared her entrances and got for MD abroad, which she had expected least. She had just answered it. She didn't wanted to leave India, but then she did. Her life was never predictable. Even her admission into medical was unplanned.

She parked her car in parking lot. Like always she wished all 'Good morning', 'Have a good day' on her way with a smile. She went to the receptionist and enquired about Mayank. "Good morning Rose" The receptionist was a young beautiful lady. "Good morning Doctor" She gave Nupur some files. "Can you please tell me where Dr. Mayank is? The new doctor who have joined today? From India." After hearing no response, she looked again at Rose whose cheeks had turned red. "Oh yeah.. I did" Ah! Poor girl! Nupur said to herself. "That's quite visible; well can you please tell me where he is?" Finally after the smiling session, Rose informed her where he was. "Good, if you find him again then inform him to meet me." Nupur said and left form there. "What a flirt!" She muttered and went in her cabin.

Mayank was very much excited about his day. He didn't want to wake up Nupur and spoil her sleep along with her mood. His day was going quite good. All ladies were getting impressed by him but it didn't matter much to him. He wanted to go and talk to Nupur about his day. It was finally a lunch break for him so he made his way to the canteen. He was in medicine department and Nupur in Gynaec. He knew Nupur was interested in Surgery but when Samrat mentioned she is Gynaec, he was surprised but Nupur was always unpredictable. She used to be never sure about anything till the last moment. Little confused, nervous, and he loved these things about her. He never got to know why she really left India, 3 years ago, in spite of having an opportunity to make a good career over there, because as per him she was not the one who used to be excited about studying abroad. He was angry at her, very much angry for leaving him without a proper good bye. That was the reason he never tried to contact her as he was waiting for her to do that, but to his bad luck she never did. This made him angrier. He used to always wait for her mail, call, and never received any. Then he was busy with his studies. He wanted to be the best, and didn't wanted to get distracted. So he concentrated in his work in hope he will not miss her much. But it was of no use, because, everything reminded her of him. The classes, the cases, the OPD's, Ot's which they used to attend together.

He had sworn that once he'll find her or meet her, he will take out all his anger by scolding her and asking for the reason for her disappearing act. Samrat was his school friend, his best friend and happened to be Nupur's neighour. Samrat had told him that he and Gunjan will settle abroad after marriage. He contacted him and came to know about Nupur's well about. But he didn't want to contact her through phone. He wanted to go and meet her; he had to wait as he couldn't leave his studies on way. He waited for 3 years. And finally he was here in London. When he saw her standing in front he didn't feel like shouting at her. Her eyes conveyed that she too had missed him; he just wanted to hug her and see that she doesn't leave him ever again. But he wanted all his answers from him, what made her leave India? Just the admission letter?

His chain of thoughts was broken by Nupur's laughter. He looked in her direction. He didn't realize he was standing at the reception. Nupur was standing, wearing her labcoat with a stetho around her neck; it was after a very long time he was seeing her like that. She was talking with a lady. The lady was holding a small kid, may be 2 years old, who was trying to go to Nupur. Nupur took out her labcoat, and placed it on the reception counter along with the stetho and carefully took her; the baby cuddled nicely in her arms and was touching her face with her tiny fingers. Mayank was watching them. Nupur was enjoying the moment; it was evident from her wide smile and the way her eyes shone. She was dressed in trouser and a formal shirt, hugging her perfectly, looking gorgeous. After planting a kiss on the baby's forehead, she gave her back to the mother. She waved them a bye. The baby wasn't happy as she was crying. Nupur passed her a smile and a flying kiss. Baby giggled and she too. She kept waving till they were gone of her sight. Mayank was just watching her, thinking that no one likes her to leave, all want her.

Nupur turned and dashed with Mayank, who was now standing just behind her. She felt weird finding him standing so close. She took a step back. "You missed that baby, you now that was my first case and.." She started her talk and was going on. Mayank was a silent listener. Nupur took her labcoat and placed it on her arm along with stetho. "That was evident with the way you were holding her and she didn't wanted to leave you" She saw Rose staring Mayank. She giggled. Mayank realized her talk was over. "What?" Nupur pointed towards Rose, Mayank felt a little embarrassed as he was busy staring at Nupur and didn't realize that others were staring him. He passed a smile to Rose and took her leave, dragging Nupur along with him. "Jeez, she is mesmerized by you" Mayank grinned at her. "I know, what can I do if am such a charmer!" he winked. Nupur faked a laughter, "You and charmer!" he held her arm. "Wait, what you mean? I still have the charm" Mayank left her arm.

"Oh really, but you can't charm me" She replied in a teasing tone. "Hurry up, I got tiffin for you" Mayank was happy hearing this. "Wow, thanks" he followed her.

They were in canteen enjoying the lunch and discussing the day's events. Mayank was praising her parathas. "They are so good, and am tasting your food after so long." Nupur smiled looking at him. He looked like a small boy to her. They started remembering the old days when Mayank used to steal her food. She was lost in her own thoughts. He was a charmer, but she didn't wanted to accept it in front of him. He had always charmed her. That's why he was her best friend. Now were they best friend? Hiding so much? She thought to herself. She wanted to ask him many things, as soon as she can, but at right time and now was the right time to ask him. But before she could, she felt someone hands on her eyes.

She knew to whom those hands belonged. "Dhruv" She said and removed his hands. It was Dhruv, her supposed to be fiance as they were not yet engaged."I thought of surprising you my lady love" She passed a smile to him. She suddenly felt guilty as she realized she had totally forgotten about him after meeting Mayank. Lady love, Mayank narrowed her eyes. She looked at Mayank, who seemed to be a little surprised. "Mayank" he looked at her. "Meet Dhruv, my" She was cut by Dhruv. "We are about to get engaged." He said placing his hand on her. Nupur smiled weakly. "He is Mayank" Nupur introduced. Mayank was very much dazed by this news but passed a weak smile to Dhruv. "I'll just go and order for me" Dhruv left from there and Mayank just stared at Nupur, who was feeling uncomfortable. She realized, Mayank wanted to talk.
