Chapter Thirteen
(When We Get There)
The two hours passed and Maan finally reached the medical camp. Geet was still sleeping sound and he hated to wake her up but he had to. He put his hand on her shoulder and softly said," Geet... wake up.. we're here". Geet slowly woke up and opened her eyes... she yawned and smiled, " How pretty!". Geet gathered her bag and phone and Maan put his phone inside his pocket. Maan came out and he went over to the other side and put his hand out to help Geet. Geet smiled, " Thanks!". She took his hand and he helped her down.
Geet stretched a little," Hayee rabba thak gayii.." Maan smirked, " You were sleeping... and you're tired". Geet laughed, " Jii.. bilkull... its hard sleeping in one place you know". Maan just shook his head and looked over to find the camp already set up and the cottages were set up as well. Maan took out the suitcases and Geet texted Meera, " We're here". She shut her phone and said, " Maan.. I'll drag my own.. its okay." Maan didn't listen to her and he said, " Let's go". Then one of the camp workers took their luggages and put them inside the cottage.
Geet nodded and they walked towards the cottage. The camp manager who was Maan's cousin and Veer's eldest sister and as well a doctor, Ashlesha came towards them and she smiled. " Hi Maan bhaiya and Geet". Geet smiled and both girls shook hands. " Welcome to Jaipur Maan bhaiya" said Ashlesha. Ashlesha was a pretty girl who was clearly married... since she had sindoor on and a mangalsutra and nice bangles. She truly looked like a married woman. A certain glow on her face made her face and smile seem even more brighter.
" Hey Ashlesha didi... nice to see you again". Geet smiled, " Dr. Ashlesha... when will we start today?". Ashlesha laughed, " You can call me Ashlesha or Ash if you want Geet... and hold your horses.. I have to show you guys around and then get you settled in and btw Geet.. you'll be staying with me in that cottage". Geet nodded and Ashlesha led the two around the camp. She introduced them to all the children and adults.
That afternoon, Geet and Ashlesha were talking nonstop. Maan only worked and worked on the preparations. " Acha Geet.. ek baat batao.. humaray bhaiya tumhe kaisay lage?" said Ashlesha with a wink. Geet blushed a little," Thore se khadoos hain.. par he's a great person to work with". " I know Geet.. thore se khadoos aur saru hai par he has a good heart.. I would know...!" said Ashlesha. " You're a sweet girl Geet.. keep it that way" said Ashlesha. " Aap dono ki baatein khatam ho gayi hai to humari thori si madat kardein?" said Maan sarcastically. " Maan.. yeh ladkiyaan to sari zindagi baat karna nahi chorengi" said a deep voice.
Ashlesha's face brightened and she said, " Arjun!". Geet turned around and looked at the tall man. He was handsome and he had a kind face. Ashlesha jumped up and she walked over to hug him, " Arjun...! kahaan thay tum..." Arjun smiled and hugged her back, " I was here! tum kahin ghum gayii". Ashlesha broke out of the hug and both walked towards Geet who was smiling at their reunion. " You must be Dr. Geet?" said Arjun as he shook Geet's hand. " You must be Ashlesha's husband Dr. Arjun". " Arjun Singh Rathod is the name" joked Arjun. Ashlesha elbowed him in the stomach, " Arjun! not your jokes please". Arjun laughed, " Nice to meet you Dr. Geet". Maan came up behind him and Arjun turned around and hugged Maan. " Kaisay ho?" said Arjun.
" Good... let's start now?" said Maan. The three nodded and Ashlesha walked with Geet and Arjun with Maan. " To Geet kaisay lagi Maan?" said Arjun. Maan looked at him, " What about Geet?". " Oh you know..." said Arjun trying not to sound obvious. Maan wasn't stupid... he knew what his brother in law was trying to say. " Arjun... no" said Maan. " Don't no Arjun me Maan... answer my question". " No...Arjun" said Maan. Arjun rolled his eyes, " She is a nice girl Maan... give her a chancee." " Arjun... there is nothing between us" said Maan sternly. Arjun didn't bother asking or trying to convince Maan even more. He promised Dadimaa that he would try to convince Maan of settling in or ATLEAST find a girl for himself.
They began the presentations and Geet was to lead the first half and then the second half with Maan and Ashlesha and Arjun were to present to the adults. " Namaste!" chirped Geet. " Mujhe umeed hai kay yeh camp aapko nayee nayee cheezay sikhayega... aur hum doctors ko bhi ek chance milega...kay hum aap logon se kuch seekhain..." said Geet. " To aaj hum typical CPR procedures aapko dikhayenge... aur phir aapko ek chance milega kay aap woh dummies kay upar yeh try karein!... ready? Dr. Maan and I will show you the CPR procedures... jisay kisi ki jaan bacha sakta hain" said Geet again. Geet looked at Maan and he nodded. The children sat in their rows and there was a bench up at the front. Maan laid on the bench and Geet started her segment.
" CPR ka matlab yeh hota hai, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation" began Geet. Maan laid straight and he closed his eyes. " Pehle, aap sar thora sa peechay karein and yeh check karein kay aapka patient saas leh raha hai kay nahi" said Geet as she tilted Maan's head back and checked for breathing. " Agar aapka patient saas nahi leh raha to aap unki naak ko pinch karein and mouth to mouth respiration shuru kardein" said Geet as she pinched Maan's nose softly and was about to put her mouth against his until she stopped. The kids giggled and Maan opened his eyes and looked at her * MAHIIIIIII*😛 ... she was a little embarassed so she looked on. " Main sach mein nahi karnay wali... par aap bachay samajdar hai to you could guess. " After mouth to mouth respiration, blow into their mouth and yeh dekhiye kay agar woh saanse le raha hai kay nahi" said Geet. " If so, give two breaths each lasting one second" said Geet again.
" Agar aapka patient abhi bhi normally saanse nahi le raha ya coughing ya moving shuru nahi kiya to aap chest compressions shuru kardein" said Geet as she checked to see if Maan was breathing again and she was about to put her hands on top of one another and onto Maan's chest and began doing the chest compressions. " Agar aapko sahi tareekay se karni hai to aap chest ko depress karein.. approximately 1.5 inches to 2 inches... and then press down on the centre of the chest... pump at the rate of 100 beats per minute, approximinately 30 compressions should be done" said Geet as she was getting a little red... she was softly pressing her hands down and Maan opened his eyes and looked at her..
She stopped after two compressions and she turned around, " And your patient should start breathing if not then aap ambulance ko phone karein jaldi se!" finished Geet. Everyone clapped and they began practising on the dummies. Maan got up and he looked at Geet who was bright red... " Are you okay?" Geet nodded and said, " Bachon ke samne thori si sharam aati hai... and thank God kay yeh bachay school jaate hain and they understand male and female interaction". Maan grinned, " Its procedure Geet.. karna parta hai".
Just then Arjun and Ashlesha came up to Maan and Geet. " Hi guys!" said Arjun. " Hi Dr. Arjun and Ashlesha" said Geet. " Lunch karein?... I found a perfect place! there's a carnival going on too... we should go" said Ashlesha. Geet was excited, " Seriously?!! I love those! chalein?". Maan said, " I'll join you for lunch but that carnival is not my thing". Ashlesha frowned, " Maan... you always loved to go when we were kids". Geet's eye brow went up and said, " Really?!!" Ashlesha laughed, " Yeah! he loved it!"
" Maan! aapne mujhe kyun nahi bataya! thats it.. you're going Maan" said Geet as she pulled his arm. Arjun and Ashlesha looked at eachother and smirked, " Chalein?" Geet nodded and Maan tried to protest but he gave up. They went towards Arjun's jeep that was similiar to Maan's. Ashlesha and Arjun sat behind leaving the two potential love birds to be seated at the front. " You drive dude" said Arjun as he put his arms around Ashlesha. Maan rolled his eyes and he turned the car on. Ashlesha and Arjun were quietly watching them trying not to laugh! It was exciting!
