Aaj toh Valentines day hai na Nupur
Isse yaad hai she rolled her eyes.
He smiled in his sleep which formed the trademark dimples on his cheek.
As you said ki feeling important hoti hai
Haan toh wohi toh mein keh rahi hoon
Woh tum nahi keh rahi
She giggled along. How he craved to hear those giggles, which just made him forget himself.
Dil deewana, bin sajnakey,
Kabootar kaha hai?
Maney na.....
He folded his arms in his sleep as he realized that his arms had no one to hug, to hold and sway. No one would cuddle up to it. All it had was emptiness.
"Uthiye" a spot boy called out to him. The guy shook him up awake. "News channel waley aye hai. Byte lena hai valentine segment key liye"
The smile changed into a frown. Yes it was indeed because he was called back from a beautiful world of his own. Sometimes it doesn't harm to stay away from the real world.
"Ata hoon" he said stretching himself and rubbing his eyes.
It bored him to 'perform' the interview. No it was not the first time he was doing a scripted segment. But things had changed, and the situation was different, VERY different. After satisfying the channel with the Byte, he excused himself from his co actor politely and made his way to the scheduler.
"Am done for the day right? What time tomorrow?"
"I guess you don't have much to do tomorrow. I think we can reschedule you to the day after. So enjoy the day off"

Technically, going home should not be a huge problem especially when your home is a maximum 15 minute drive from the set. But he had a lot of questions flying in his mind. He stared at his Blackberry sitting inside his car. Of course he couldn't JUST go home, could he? He surfed his phonebook till it arrived at the name. 'The' name was enough to make his heart skip a beat. How he missed her around him.
Should he, or should he not? Unable to come to a conclusion, he decided start his engine and run his automobile first. Hopefully, few minutes of drive can help him drive off his confusion.
"And what should I tell her after ringing her?" he thought to himself waiting for the signal to go green. "That I miss you like hell. Please can we hang out tomorrow as I am off? Or even better! You come over. Aai's out of town so is my brother." he hit himself to stop silly thoughts which came unintentionally. He did speak to her often, but maybe it was the 'one day off' excitement getting into him.
Yes, aap sun rahey hai 93.5 Red FM, aur mein hoon Malishka. Aur aaj hai 13th of February toh zaahir si baat hai ki aaj key din Mumbai key ladko ke dimaag mein solid confusion pak rahi hogi
He snapped out of his thoughts and stared at his radio in disbelief, as if there was a secret bug attached to it.
Array kal valentines day hai bhai, kuch toh innovative socho. Warna kahey key boyfriend ho yaar! Call kijiye mujhe 897 per aur batiye apney hatkey Valentines Day plans and you may win a couple tickets to Merlyn's Valentines Day bash. Tab tak key liyr yeh teen gaaney back to back.
Valentine's Day is not as easy to plan as it is easy to say. But then at least now he knew what to speak. Gosh damn the Dindhoshi traffic! He went back to stare his blackberry.
Tu waqt merey liye, mein hoon tera lamha
Kaise rahega bhala, hokey tu mujhse juda
"Exactly!" He was not the only one he thought. Wasn't she equally interested in meeting him? And he knew that interested was an understatement. He dialed the number wearing a naughty grin on his face. His eyes shined with delight after what seemed ages. He waited for her to answer from the side. But Bahon ke Darmiya is all he could listen to. He sulked, but tried again, in vain. After trying again, the call was rejected. "Hmm it seems mujhsey juda hoker, woh bahut acchey se reh sakti hai" he said and flipped the phone on the adjacent seat in anger. He thought no more. No point. And went back to cursing the traffic.
***********
He opened the lock and made his way inside his home. It was dark and empty and somehow resembled his state of mind and heart. He was too tired to make himself something and definitely did not want to go out to dine alone. True, that he refused his friend's offer to party hard tonight; he didn't want just 'any' company. He just wanted to be with her. Her mere presence, her sight in front of him would to wonders to him. He sighed and jumped on to his bed empty stomach.
His cell phone buzzed and 'the' name flashed. He looked at it. He ignored it. After letting it ring for a few times, he rejected the call. Aah the elephant size ego Scorpios can have. The calls stopped. 10 minutes later the phone buzzed again, but this time with a text message. "help me 4m them'.I m very scared". He went numb for a second and cursed himself for not picking up the calls. Without thinking twice he jumped out of his bed, and rushed to his building's parking to take his car out.
***********
He banged against the door and rang the bell frantically. Why isn't anyone opening the door he thought? "Open door!! Or else I will''"
Before he could complete his sentence, the door swung open, "Or else you will what? Break the door and make your way in?" she giggled. In front of him was the most beautiful sight he could ever ask for. She was leaning against the wall with both her hands folded grinning away to glory. Dressed simply in track pants and pretty white top and an apron to cover it, and hair tide loosely, she looked like an angel to him indeed. For a second he even forgot that he was supposed to be angry on her.
"You think this is funny?" he asked entering inside.
"Well at least your face looks funny" she giggled as she followed him in.
Gosh, he could not even be angry at her. "So was it necessary to give me a heart attack? A simple invitation would have done the job, I promise I wouldn't have turned it down" he said with that mischievous smile playing on his mouth.
"Well there is something called a surprise. I prefer surprises than promises, because promises can be broken... surprises can't." she said and made her way to the kitchen.
He stood there, 'surprised' but bowled over. That's why he had lost his heart to her, because of the deadly combination of beauty and brains. No one stood a chance once she was at her witty best. All he could do was to stand and admire her. Yes indeed she was wonderful. She had this aura around her. Her eyes, her hair, her straight posture with her head held high, her smile, her confidence, everything was attractive. How could anyone not love her?
He landed up in her kitchen. "Wow! Butter Chicken? tumhey kaisey pata yeh mera favorite hai?" he said while nudging her shoulders with his, being himself after what seemed ages."Mujhe nahi pata", she nodded. "Butter chicken mera favorite hai" and continued to make her dish or rather their dish.
She turned back only to be blocked by him. "So I guess you need my help, I can cook fabulous butter chicken" he said. "Well I don't think so" she said going red and moving to her right, only to be blocked again by him. "Well I think so" he said triumphantly. "Look, don't waste my time, it's already late" she said moving to the left this time careful not to look into his eyes, that usually did the trick. But he was smart in enough to move along with her. "Itni bhi kya jaldi hai" he asked. "Jaldi? Aren't you hungry? I am sure you are empty stomach. You must not have bothered to cook yourself something did you?" He stood their now surprised for the nth time. Or rather he was tired being surprised. Taking advantage of this opportunity she made her way out.
"And how did you know I did not bother to make my dinner" he asked her.
"Because its YOU. You are no rocket science" she grinned as she laid the table for both of them. He made himself comfortable on his seat and relished the food on his plate, unaware of the adorable glances by the lady opposite to him. Indeed he looked child taking those bites. She smiled unknowingly. How she longed for his presence in front of her always. She missed his smile, his naughty eyes, his mischief, his pranks, his frown, his sulk, his not so funny jokes, and mostly importantly, HIM.
"So what plans for tomorrow?" she asked looking at him hopefully. He looked back at her putting his spoon down, "I am shooting tomorrow" he said and went back to him meal. "Can't you take an off tomorrow?" she asked him almost restless now. "Why? Kal kya hai?" he asked raising his brows, playing with her. "Kuch nahi!" she said annoyed and started having her own food under the intense gaze of the man opposite her.
"So its 10.30" she said suddenly. "Isn't your show coming right now?" and she started surfing the channel. He snatched remote control and switched the TV off.
"Well, there are loads of other better things which we can do right now"
"And that would be?"
He held her hands to lead her to the balcony "That would be balcony, the breeze, 2 mugs of coffee, the moonlight and two pretty people in a waltz" and as they danced away to glory under the moonlight, the shine in their eyes, and the smile on their mouth was as bright as ever.

It was the 14th oh February. But it was like any other day to her. She sat on her couch tired from the grueling gym session she had just returned from. She sulked thinking what an amazing day this could have been. But then she remembered him and their dance yesterday.
Gosh! You light as a feather. Ker kya rahi ho aajkal
Weights!
She giggled as she remembered the time spent with him yesterday. How she wished she could live these moments forever. Meanwhile, her cell phone buzzed.
"What is Jas?........... No, I am tired'''.. Not today Please. Ok fine tell me where?........Merlyns? ok I'll come in an hr" although she was in no mood to move away from the couch but she could not say no to her friends.
**************************
"Come on, dance for just 5 minutes" asked Jas
"Don't force me please. I seriously in no mood" she said as lost in her own thoughts
"i'll make you eat up words in a while" Jas said
"Can i have this dance with you mam" whispered a familiar voice near her ear
"YOU??" she look at him...yes it was indeed him..."But you said you had a shoot today"
"Well there is something called a surprise. I prefer surprises than promises, because promises can be broken... surprises can't." he winked "so can i have this dance"
"No you can't" said the DJ as spotlights fell on them "cause you guys are coming up for the karaoke right up here"
They smiled as heard a familiar melody played in the background as they made their way to the karaoke stage
