@Liz - Lol, thank you Liz. =) Shaurya is a wolf, don't worry! And Misha doesn't trust him, but she'll still be friendly with him..which causes Raj to over-react, which, in turn causes Misha to over react. You know what I mean, don't you? :PLOL .. Yahaan...Neeche neeche! š Abhay knows why they're connected.. you remember his story from Soulmate, don't you? :P
As Misha and Rhea walked back to the corridor, they saw that Raj and Kabir were standing around Shaurya. Rhea squeezed Kabir's hand reassuredly, Panchi was leaning against the wall, and Raj was talking to Shaurya.
''So the werewolf walks into the second doctor's office and he says, 'Doctor, I have rabies'. And the doctor goes like..''
''So much for bluffing him.'' Misha muttered.
Rhea stood next to Raj, her shoulders tensed. ''Raj, that's not funny.'' She looked at Shaurya. ''I am sorry. He doesn't mean it.''
''He does, but it doesn't matter. I have heard worse.'' He looked at Misha.
Misha didn't know what to say. What was she supposed to say when she just discovered that a person is a werewolf? And that it may be their duty to eat you?
She was completely out of control today.
Shaurya looked away, shaking his head slightly. ''I figured you'd react this way. Or I would have told you this myself.''
''You would?'' She raised an eyebrow at him. ''But, then, you'd get in trouble, right?''
''Well.'' He smiled faintly. ''We are not sticklers of the rules, are we?''
''We?''
''My family. They settled here because it is so far out of the way. A place where they wouldn't bother anybody, and anybody wouldn't bother them. They're all gone now. Murdered. There's only me left.''
Misha moved closer. ''I'm sorry.''
Rhea kept a hand on his shoulder. ''That's why I came here too, so that nobody bothers me.''
Shaurya gave another faint smile- a smile that mostly showed in his eyes. ''I know.'' He seemed to remember something, and sighed. ''Misha, Angad said that he wants to talk to Ruhi. He's been calling her since the past three days, and she isn't picking up. He wants to talk to you about this.''
''Ruhi..?'' Misha looked at him, horrified.
''Yeah.'' Shaurya's expression changed slightly. ''What's wrong?''
''She's dead.'' Raj stated matter-of-factly.
''D..dead?'' He leaned against the wall for support. ''Wait.'' He looked back at Raj. ''You think I did this, don't you?''
''It did cross our minds at one point.'' Raj said. ''Actually, it seemed to keep crossing them. Back and forth. I think we should put it in a crosswalk.''
''Raj, shut up.'' Misha rolled her eyes.
''So you're saying you didn't do it.'' Rhea said softly. ''Actually, Panchi thinks that it's a vampire hunter, aiming for Raj, because he used his symbol to kill.''
''There's no vampire hunter around here.'' Shaurya said flatly.
''So, there's a vampire.'' Panchi crossed her arms. ''There has to be, because of the way Ruhi and the goat was killed.''
''The goat..? Oh, don't even tell me. I don't want to know.'' Shaurya turned to Misha. ''I am sorry about Ruhi, but if there is a vampire staying here, he's hidden. Really hidden. Same goes for the vampire hunter.''
''We already figured that out.'' Panchi said. Misha expected Raj to chime in, but he was staring across the street, his hands in his pockets, seeming to have given up on the conversation.
''You haven't seen anything that could give you a clue?'' Misha asked.
''If I knew, I'd tell you.'' Shaurya emphasized on the last word. ''If I could help you, I would.''
''Well, come along for the ride. You can put your head out of the window like a real dog.'' Raj said, returning to life.
That did it. Misha stormed over and grabbed him by the arm. ''Excuse us.'' She said to the others, and dragged him all the way to the classroom. ''You jerk.''
''Look..''
''Shut up.'' She let go of his arm, ignoring the electrical explosions happening inside her body. It gave her just another reason to want to kill him. ''You have to be the center of every drama, don't you? You have to act smart and mouth off.''
''Well..''
''Even if it means hurting people. Well, not this time.''
''Misha-''
''You think that all werewolves are low class? You know what that is? They call it prejudice. Your own sister is a werewolf, forgod's sake, and she's nothing less than you. Infact, she's better, MUCH BETTER than you.''
Raj threw his arms up in a gesture of surrender. ''Alright, alright, now let me speak, please?'' He paused. There was a silence. He seemed to be on a loss for words. ''Okay, Misha, I don't believe that stupid stuff.''
Misha's mouth hung open. ''Lier. Great, just what I needed to add to the list.''
''He really doesn't.'' Rhea spoke up from the door. ''Raj's dad, Mr. Saxena, always yells at him for mixing up with the wrong kind of people, having werewolves for friends, going to the parties with werewolves.''
''Well, he has got a funny way of showing how much he loves them.'' Misha shrugged.
''Well, I just thought I'd mention. He's alright with all the werewolves, except Shaurya, for some reason. Now, I will leave you alone.''
When she was gone, Raj spoke up. ''Can I move now?'' He seemed to be in a very bad mood.
Misha gave up. She suddenly felt tired. ''If you go away soon, it would be easier.'' She said, taking a step back.
''Misha.'' There was something in his voice that she had never heard before. ''Look, it's not exactly a matter of me wanting to go away. There's somebody else coming, Shankar. And if I and my sister don't go back with him, the whole town is in danger. You don't know what those people can do.''
Misha didn't turn back to look at him, she took a deep breath.
He went on. ''They could wipe Dehradun out. I mean, they have done things like that before, to preserve the secret. It's the only protection we get from your kind.''
Misha said with grim determination in her voice. ''Your sister is not going to leave.''
''Then the whole town is in trouble. We have two rogue werewolves, one vampire and a secret vampire hunter wandering around somewhere, not to mention two humans who know about our secret. This is a paranormal disaster area.''
A long silence. At last, Misha finally said. ''What do you want me to do?''
''Oh, I don't know. Why don't we all have a pizza party and watch TV?'' He sounded savage. ''I have no idea what to do.'' He sighed. ''And you better believe I have been thinking about it. The only thing I can come up with is that Rhea has to come back with me.''
Misha tried to think, but her head was throbbing.
''There's one other possibility.'' Raj muttered.
''What?''
''I know you and Rhea did a blood tie ceremony. It's forbidden, but that's beyond the point. You're part of the reason she doesn't want to leave.''
Misha opened her mouth to point out that she didn't want to leave because life had been horrible for her in the supernatural world, but Raj went on. ''But, maybe, if you were, like us, I could take Rhea back, and then in a few months I could get her out again. We could go someplace where nobody would know us. Nobody would suspect us. Rhea would be free, and you'd be there. You can get your brother, too.''
Misha turned around slowly. She looked at him. The sun brought out hidden warm light brown tones in his hair, his eyes were shadowed, some dark colour. He stood lanky and elegant as ever, with one hand in his pocket, and a pained expression on his face. ''Don't frown, you'll spoil your looks.'' She said before she could stop herself.
Raj snorted. ''What do you think?''
''I think.'' She said cautiously. ''That you are suggesting changing me into a vampire.''

Abhay looked around his house, then glanced at his watch. He'd been doing that every five minutes now, for about the last twelve hours.
He didn't like leaving Pia alone. Ofcourse, the ring would protect her.
Only a little while longer, he told himself. It had taken him most of the night and today to call in enough of his people to set up a plan for watching Pia.
She had told him to go away, and he had. Her word was law to him. But that didn't mean that he couldn't have her guarded. She didn't even realise there were supernaturals around her, watching her, waiting in the shadows, ready to fight till death if something happens to her.
Ever since he'd awoken Pia during her hypnotism trance, he'd been trying very hard not to think about the old days. But now, he found himself being irresistibly drawn back to the time, not only thinking about them, but reliving them. Travelling back to the stupid young man he had been..
He hadn't been the first vampire.
He had been the second.
He'd grown up in a tribe of Maya and Mrinalini. Maya and Mrinalini were the twin daughters of the queen of black magic. Mrinalini was the most famous witch in history, and Maya was the ancestress of the born vampires.
But he didn't know any of it at that time.
All he knew was that they were both pretty girls. Beautiful. Mrinalini had long hair and deep brown eyes. Maya had short hair and eyes that seemed to glitter in every colour possible. He liked both of them very much.
Maybe that was his downfall.
He'd taken it for granted that his tribe was special, that they could influence the weather and summon ghosts. They had been granted special powers, they had been experts in black magic, and that was all. It wasn't anything to worry about.
He knew that Maya was doing experiments in the jungle, using her powers to try and become immortal. That didn't bother him, either.
That had been the real downfall. Maya's desire to become immortal. Because she'd been willing to pay any price for it, even to the point of becoming a monster and leaving a curse on all her descendants. Maybe if Abhay and the other people had realized that, they could have stopped her before it happened.
Maya had finally found the right spell to achieve immortality. The problem was that to do it, she had to steal the babies of the tribe. Four of them. She took them out to the forest, did the spell and drank their blood. Abhay and the rest of the tribe found the bodies later.
Mrinalini had cried all night. Abhay, who couldn't understand how Maya could have done such a awful thing, cried, too. Maya herself had disappeared completely.
But a few nights later, she came to Abhay.
She had changed.
She wasn't the pretty girl he knew anymore. She was stunningly, dazzlingly beautiful. She was different. She was graceful, she moved like a predator, and her eyes reflected the firelight.
She was very pale, and very lovely. Her mouth, which had always been soft and inviting, was red with blood. And when she smiled at him, he saw her long pointed teeth.
''Hello Abhyendra..'' She smiled. ''I want to make you immortal.''
Abhay was scared. He had no idea what she'd become, some weird creature with unnatural teeth. But he knew he didn't want to be like her.
''I really think it's unfair, the way you go back and forth between me and Mrinalini.'' She said casually. ''So, you're going to be mine now, forever.''
She reached out and took his hand. Her fingers were very slender and very cold, and unbelievably strong. Abhay couldn't pull away.
He should have started yelling, grabbing, anything to attract attention. But being the idiot he was, he just sat there, looking at her. She was unnatural and evil..but so beautiful.
It was the first and the last time he was fascinated by the beauty of pure evil, but it was enough. He was doomed from that moment, he'd doomed himself.
''It's not so bad.'' Maya said, fixing him with her lovely eyes. ''There are a few things I have to figure out. I thought drinking the blood of the babies would be the end of it, but, no. I have got these teeth for a reason, apparently. I have to drink the blood of a mortal creature every day, or I die. I can live with it, it's inconvenient though.''
Abhay felt sick.
''I'm not a witch anymore. I'm something completely new. I should think of a name for myself. Night hunter. Blood drinker.. I don't know. Endless possibilities. I'm going to start a new race, Abhay. We will be better than everyone, stronger, faster, and we will live forever. We will never die, and we will rule everyone. You're going to be my first convert.''
''No. Don't I have a choice?''
''You don't.'' She went on. ''After that, I am going to have a baby, not with you. I don't think you will be able to handle it, and the baby will have my blood. And I'm going to give my blood to other people the way I give it to you now. Someday there won't be anyone in the world who doesn't have my blood. Nice thought, isn't it?'' Her eyes glittered.
''Mrinalini will stop you.'' Abhay said flatly.
''My sister- No, I don't think so. Especially since I'll have you to help me. She likes you, and it will be hard for her to kill someone she likes.''
''She won't have to. I will kill you.'' Abhay snarled.
Maya laughed. ''You? Don't you know yourself? You are not a killer, you don't have the guts for it. That will change after I give you my blood. But you won't want to kill me then. You'll join me, and you will be happy.'' She rubbed her hands together. ''Now, let's do it.''
The first thing she did was put a hand across his mouth so that he can't call for help. And she was strong, she could handle him like a baby. She dragged him to the bushes.
''I am afraid this is going to hurt.'' She was excited. ''All the animals I found did find it very unpleasant. But it's for your own good.''
Then she ripped his throat out.
Through the black waves of shock and pain, he heard her drinking.
It lasted a long time, and then he realized that he was dying. He took comfort in the fact that the horror would soon be over.
He couldn't have been more wrong. The horror was just beginning.
When Maya lifted her head, she wasn't beautiful anymore. She was hideous. ''Now.'' She said. ''I'm going to give you something that will make it all better.''
He didn't mean to swallow the blood that filled his mouth. But everything was so grey and unreal, the warm liquid went down his throat, burning every body part in the process.
After she made him drink, he realized that he was still dying. He didn't know that he wasn't going to stay dead. He felt her carrying him into the forest, then everything went black.
When he woke up, he'd been buried.
He clawed himself out of the grave and looked at the astonished face of his brother. In the minute before his brother could yell in surprise, Abhay was at his throat.
It was an animal instinct. A thirst inside him unlike anything he had ever known. A pain that was like being underwater, gasping for oxygen. It made him desperately insane. He couldn't think.
He simply tried, mindlessly, to tear at his brother's throat.
What stopped him was someone calling her name. Calling it over and over. When he looked around, he saw Mrinalini, her brown eyes huge and spilling with tears, her mouth trembling. The expression on her face haunted him forever.
He ran out of the grave and kept running. Behind him, he could hear a faint voice, ''Abheyendra, I'll stop her. I swear, I'll stop her.''
He realized later that Mrinalini couldn't do anything. She knew that his curse was permanent. What he was now, he would be forever.
There wasn't a name for it then, but he was the first made vampire. Maya, who had a son just like she promised, was the first born vampire, the vampires who could grow and have children. And her son, Saxena, was the ancestor of the Saxena family, one of the most powerful supernatural families in the world.
Abhay didn't know any of that as he ran. He only knew that he had to get away from people, or he would hurt them.
Maya caught up with him when he was drinking water off a stream.
''You will make yourself sick, you know.'' She said, inspecting him. ''It's blood you need.''
Abhay jumped up, shaking with fury. ''How about yours?'' He growled.
Maya laughed. ''How sweet. But it won't do. You need the blood of living creatures.''
He turned and began to stumble off.
Maya called after him. ''You can't do it. You can't get away from me. I have chosen you, Abhayendra. You will be mine, now and forever. In the end, you will come back to me.''
Abhay kept going. He could hear her laughing as he went.
He lived on the mountains for several weeks. He was more like an animal than a human. The thirst made him desperate, until he stumbled over a rabbit. The next instant he was holding it, biting into it's throat. His teeth were like Maya's ' long, pointy, sharp. And she was right, only the blood of a living creature could help the burning, suffocating feeling inside him.
He didn't catch food very often. It reminded him of who and what he was.
He was starving when he reached the river. He didn't notice the girl until he was on top of her, and then everything went dark for a while.
When he came to his senses, he stopped drinking. He needed the food, he would starve without it, but he dropped the girl and ran. Maithali's people found him a while later.
And they did exactly what any tribe would do - labeled him as a demon and wanted to kill him. He didn't realize yet - and neither did they - that a creature like him couldn't die.
And then he saw Maithali.
PRECAP:
It was all over in a minute. He was drinking, getting stronger with every drop of blood. People were staring at him.
It felt good.
He tossed the dead man aside and reached for another.
--
''Raj.''
He didn't look at her. His jaw was tight.
''I'm sorry..'' Misha said, shaking off the feelings that suddenly descended on to her.
''It's blood you need.''
Abhay jumped up, shaking with fury. ''How about yours?'' He growled.
Maya laughed. ''How sweet. But it won't doš”š”š”
