14 – My Parents?

Roaming around the house she saw few people wandering around the lounge with Muskan and Anjali settled beside Padma, talking, laughing. Riddhima rubbed her eyes and looks down at them from stairs, "Lo she finally woke up! Riddhima once you get married to Armaan, you aren't allowed to sleep till 12! You have to make a practice to at least wake up at the time he does!" Padma spoke, smiling at her daughter. Riddhima was still confused at her mother talking to her now and over top so politely – after the trip to Ooty, her Mother had been so busy with Malik family that she didn't even talk to her, and now! What confused her more was her friends settled with her mom in selecting dresses for the event?

"Padma!" Shahank walks in the house, "Jee!" Padma got up in haste, "cards are ready… Look!" Shahank passed a card to them of Riddhima's engagement, Riddhima took two more steps towards them, and she felt she was dreaming when Shahank passed a smile to Anjali, 'what the heck is going on?' she thought, she was few feet's away from them, trying to get Anjali and Muskan's attention but they were too busy to dig their head in that stupid card, frowning Riddhima threw herself on a couch, which was when Shahank notice her in the room. "You woke up now?" Shahank asked, looking in his wrist watch. Riddhima pulls herself up and sits straight, looking down at her hands, biting her lips, "Dad…. Vo…" Riddhima tried to justify that it was not her mistake… "Sir… your file." A boy in a suit interrupted, "Oh… yes, Padma, get some juice water for him, Abhimaniyu came all the way from office to give me this file…" Shahank introduced the boy, who smiles and Padma and the two girls. "my daughters friends, Anjali and that is Muskan…" pause "and that is my daughter, Riddhima." Shahank politely told, walking away, and left Abhimaniyu behind. "Hello…" he spoke. "Hello!" Muskan replied. "Abhimaniyu do stay for lunch then go! Okay!" Padma walks to thee tailor who was scattering clothes at a corner of house. "Thank god! Ajj tou dad would have probably killed me!" Riddhima kept her head back speaking to herself.

"You should be thanking Abhimaniyu for coming at right time!" Anjali pointed out the fact, picking up a magazine of dresses, "oh yes, Thank you for coming at the right time." Riddhima spoke to him, he chuckled with a slight frown, and "no problem…" he smiled, nodded.

A servant came up with a glass of juice, "Thank you…" Abhimaniyu spoke to servant, when Padma walks in, "Aunty I would take your leave – I have some work to look up to Shahank sir must be expecting me to finish it soon!" Abhimaniyu spoke, "Par the office is too far, you should stay for a while then go…" Padma tried to reason, "No thank you Aunty I need to go, I do have some serious work to look up to… I just came here to make that file sign from sir… I guess he might be done with it by now!" Abhimaniyu politely spoke, with prompting gestures. "I read and signed it Abhimaniyu… here you go!" Shahank walks back with the file and handed over to Abhimaniyu, "Thank you sir, I would leave now…" Abhimaniyu smiled at everyone and walks out.

"Oyee ABHI!!!" someone shouted, Abhimaniyu who was sitting in his car – comes out to see who called him, "Armaan?" Abhimaniyu frowned and then smiled as he saw Armaan, his brother Rahul and Atul off course walking up to him "What the heck? What's going on here?" Abhimaniyu spoke, "dude that should be our question… after that mishap… we searched for you so much! Where have you been?" Armaan asked, hugging him. "Working out my own destiny…! After losing everything, house mom dad, I worked hard and studied on scholar, and finally I had been working with Shahank gupta for last 5 years! He is an amazing person! I am living the life I use to life, only the thing missing is my parents! I wish they were here to see, where I have finally reached" Abhimaniyu spoke. While greeting Rahul and Atul. "I am happy to see you Abhi… it's been long time! You left us yaar! We searched the whole country!" Atul's mind worked out past event in his head, "Chod yaar! Let the past go but see now we finally meet, right!"Abhimaniyu tried to ignore the bitter tragic past in which due to loss in business his father died and after it her mom died leaving him as an orphan on this earth, "yeaa Abhi bhai, did you find any girl? Or are you still single!" Rahul joked, "Beta… I got married 2 years back and my wife is pregnant too!" Abhimaniyu laughed at his friends' faces, "OMG! You are damn fast man!" Armaan laughed and punched his shoulder. "hahaa yea! Anyways what are you three doing here? At Shahank Gupta's house!" Abhimaniyu asked, "Armaan Bhai getting married to this girl's house! Rahul broke the news.

"OMG! That little tweety girl? She is small isn't she?" Abhimaniyu frowned. "No – she looks small; she is going to turn 20 in three weeks!" Armaan retorted, grinning. "She Is Small! 20! Look at you monster!" Abhimaniyu commented laughing along with Atul, who gradually accepted. "Oh Shut up Atul, aren't you in love with Anjali? She is 19 too!" Armaan frowned, "but I am Not marrying her yet!" Atul teased him more! While Armaan plainly scowled. "I m not too old! I m just 24!" Armaan defended himself, "and 5 years difference isn't much!" Armaan added.

"Armaan? Rahul?" Shahank interrupted them, from behind, "Abhimaniyu? You still here!" Shahank smiled at them, "Hello Uncle…" Atul spoke, "hello Atul…" Shahank smiled at him, "Armaan engagement cards are here! You can see it! But you here –at such hour any work?" Shahank asked, "Actually Uncle Dad asked me to collect cards before going, and I came to leave Rahul and Atul so they would help around with work" Armaan spoke,

"Ohkkay… I need to leave urgently to hall – Billy is waiting for me!" or I would have stayed" Shahank bid bye and left, "Abhi stay naa!" Atul spoke as soon Shahank left, "I will meet you at night at Armaan's place?" Abhi negotiated. "Okay! Don't ditch us! We will be waiting!" Rahul hugged and ran in. "what's up with him?" Abhi asked, looking at Rahul rushing in, "fell for 3^rd girl!" Armaan commented laughing as he remembered what Rahul did last night. "That curly hair ones!" Abhi recognized and laughed,

Flash back

Rahul had tried to act on Armaan's plan to come at Gupta house after they leave with their respective girls, once reaching there, he called Muskan out, "What do you want now Rahul?" Muskan asked, "Muskan I am sorry… I know I was wrong at that time but I couldn't think of anything except Simran that moment! I am sorry. Please forgive me… Please Muskan…" he holds her both hand between his hands and looks straight in her eyes, with a sincere apology. "Its… okay…" she turned her face away, avoiding his gaze, "I can do sit ups if you want me too…" he began to do it, while holding his ears, "Nahii! Rahul stop it – bass!" she stopped him, trying to hard her smile, "Now will you go on a date with me?" Rahul asked still sitting on knee. "Rahul phela get up! Please!" she glared at him, he got up but holds her hand, "chal na Muskan, please!" he kissed her cheek, softly. "Ok… ab bas stay away… no need to go overboard" she replied pushing him away with her palms, and ran in the house to change. While Rahul just ruffled his hair and smiled, "Thank god…" He whispered and texted Armaan with the news, and whole heartedly waited for her to come.

Reaching in the house he saw Riddhima settled on a single couch with her knees pulled up and she watching cartoon network, with the chocolate box in her lap, eating one after the other; ball shaped chocolates wrapped in golden paper. He smiled and quietly went after her, bending down, "Bas bass, you going to eat all chocolates in a day kyaa?" he kissed her cheek from back, "Armaan!" she smiled turning her head at him happy to find him here, "Good morning…" he forwarded the bunch of white daisy's. "OH… thank you…" she holds it and smells them, she gets up to see him bending his cheek down to her, she peck it lightly, but turned red with embarrassment as she heard whistles… ! "Shut up Guys!" Armaan smiled at the four and walks to Padma who was at corner, near cloths, "Hello Aunty…!" Armaan spoke, "Hello Armaan…" Padma answered, she replied, concentrating on cloth, "nahi! koi aur color hai!" Padma told the shop man, who kept on pulling out dresses, "Aunty for whom are you selecting?" Armaan asked, "For Riddhima, her Engagement dress…" Padma spoke, "Par Aunty vo tou we are giving naa…" Armaan replied, frowning… "Achaa… Naina didn't tell me about this arrangement!" Padma looks up at Armaan shock, "mum might have forgotten Aunty. The dress is ready and by tomorrow it will reach here…" Armaan smiled at her, "Achaa… but still I will call Naina…to confirm it!" Padma frowned and dialed her number, "Aunty Cards?" Armaan asked, Padma pointed at dining table, and he walks up to it, "Armaan kya hua?" Riddhima joined him in middle, "Kuch nahi!" he smiled, "what is happening in the House?" Riddhima complained to him as they reached in the dining room, "Matlb?" Armaan frowned, pulling out one card from the bundle and reading the inner information, "Mom and Dad acting nicely with me! They talking to Muskan and Anjali nicely, they all are having fun! Rahul is sticking to Muskan! What am I missing?"

"Don't know about that but I know Why Rahul sticking to Muskan!" Armaan grins, while contended with their name imprinted on the same card, "Why?" she asked, ignoring the card, "Last night when we were out for dinner, Rahul had come over here, apologized to Muskan and took her for a date!" he compelled. "WOow!" Riddhima exclaimed at rushed out towards her friend, leaving Armaan. Armaan just shake his head and collected his side of cards.

"Armaan, sorry beta in all this hurdle I forgot to ask… what would you like to eat?" the servant served Armaan with a glass of water, "nahi nahi Aunty, I have to leave to office, even dad is not there today! I had to collect cards only… right now, I will leave…" He spoke drinking water in one go. "Take leave for two days at least Armaan!" Padma talk to him, "haha… I can't Aunty, this stupid Rahul is no help – half time dad is at work and half time I am!" Armaan chuckled getting up and picking up the cards, "I have talk to Naina, and she said the dress will be here at evening… tomorrow!" Padma informed, "I told you aunty, don't worry everything is completed before time, you just relax… and have some mother daughter moment with Riddhima" Armaan took hold of Padma's hand and made her sit beside Riddhima, Riddhima stiffed, remote fell of her hand as she looks at Armaan and then at Padma, who passed a awkward smile to Riddhima and then at Armaan.

"Atul and Rahul will be here for your help, and off course for the other two lady's too!" he joked; Padma did notice the interaction of two boys with two girls in the house, so she just chuckled at Armaan's confirmation. "And yes, tell your daughter, too keep her phone with her – I had been trying her number from 8 in morning!" Armaan glared at Riddhima and smiled at Padma, "Armaan!" Riddhima whispered, glaring at him back, "she had been sleeping till 12 Armaan!" Anjali commented from back, "What? Really?" Armaan "why am I not surprise Riddhima!" Armaan added making an astonish face, "Armaan!!!" Riddhima scowled and got up to go when he pushed her back, "you sit with your mom and talk! I will leave now!" Armaan started to go leaving an awkward mom and daughter behind, she turns her face in his direction, when his brain and heart told him to look at her back, he turned and saw her looking at him, he blinked his eyes, assuring her everything will be good.

"Mai… uhmm I have some work…" Padma fidgeted with her hands and got up as soon Armaan left, Riddhima looks at her mom, gulping the pain of ignorance down her throat she looks down at the chocolate box and pulled out one more from it. Her friends did notice and thought to act the middle person between the two.

On the other hand, Padma stood at the corner of kitchen with her back on counter and her eyes close. Remembering her past days, "Aunty… Auntty" Anjali kept a hand over Padma's shoulder and shook her a little. "Huh… oh sorry…" Padma cleaned an unwanted tear, "Kuch kaam tah Anjali?" Padma asked, filling a glass of water for her, "haan Aunty, vo you said naa you need help because you're relative are coming and we need arrange things for their stay over here…" Anjali's eyes were fixed in that face of Padma, which had always been stone, cold eyes, but today it showed numerous emotions which made Anjali even more confused.

"Haan, mai tou bhool hee gaye!" Padma drank water and came out along with Anjali, to arrange rooms, beds, everything that was necessary for the relatives, with help of Rahul and Atul, Muskan and Anjali even Riddhima joined after a cup of coffee. "oyee! Listen Muskan!" Riddhima nudged her while settling pillows on floor over the floor mattresses. "Kyaa?" Muskan asks, settling bundles of white washed sheets, "Why is mama and dad acting different?" Riddhima asked, looking around if anyone there. "come with me!" Muskan holds her hand and they both walk out of house in garden.

"when me and Anjali woke up in morning, Aunty and Uncle were having a fight in lounge, we apologized to come at that moment and we began to come out to garden, when your father approached and said, that your relatives of his side are coming here for wedding though Padma aunty said that there is no need for them to come for engagement they can come for wedding! But half of important member are abundant to be here for engagement too and they have already left! Shahank uncle apologized both of us for his behavior in past and sincerely said we have been living here for so many days and he do take us as a part of family and he thinks that there is no one accept us to whom he can ask for help related to this topic, he can't count on malik over this topic because it would affect his dignity, so basically he request us to help, he said, his family member won't leave a chance to criticize over you and over Padma aunty for some reasons that is not important for us to know! So Padma aunty won't be able to handle it alone all the arrangement once those people come, so it would be nice if we both help her out in it!" pause, "Warna Uncle won't be able to face Malik family if something wrong happens!" Muskan told what she was told.

"I don't get it! I never met any of mama dad's family members, how come they are all of sudden interested in my wedding! I tou use to think that they all are dead!" pause "why would they criticize over me and Mama? What the hell is wrong with my family?" Riddhima sat down in garden along with Muskan, and began to think over the possible reason.

"See me and Anjali concluded that, your papa's side family is a bit conservative and they aren't going to be NICE people, Padma Aunty won't be able to handle them even when Shahank uncle is around! We have to make arrangement of engagement quickly because once those relative come she won't be able to concentrate on engagement work, most probably she be running around uncles relative…" Muskan spoke.

"Hmm… let's see – who are they and how are they…" Riddhima spoke frowning, "but still the change in their behavior was not an expecting one!" Riddhima shook her head and got up. "Yeaa that is, you know Padma mom was crying in morning, requesting Uncle to stop the family from coming here or the family would destroy everything… I think Padma Aunty don't like them much…" Muskan got and they both walk back inside, "hmmm… I don't know what to say, everything is confusing – Mom dad's behavior with me not normal, accepting the fact that may be mom got pregnant and she didn't knew about it till it was too late, at times they act strict next minute they turn concern parents, I don't know why can't they just come face to face for once and for all!" Riddhima spoke to Muskan, "forget it Riddhima, just think about your future with Armaan – be happy with it, let the past go!" Muskan circled and soon both ignored the subject of her parents and began to help Padma in the arrangement of house.

"Hello?" Riddhima picked up her mobile phone, while having her lunch, "I am inside the kitchen? Kyu? Ohhkay I m waiting…" she cuts the call, "Armaan is here…" Riddhima announced.

"Heyy at 6 in evening you are having lunch? Bohat jaldi nahi hogaye?" he taunted, "You know we have been working so much!" Riddhima complained, while having rice, "why are you settled on counter? Let's go all of you sit and eat on dining table!" Armaan came forward to get her down. "No… Mama said not to create mess out – relatives coming!" Riddhima stopped, "AChaa… kyun? What's the reason behind it?" Armaan made an innocent face and ate from her plate through her spoon; "you don't know Armaan…?" she acted in response, "no I don't know Riddhima…" he replied, eating from her plate! "Fine… I will go and tell mama that Armaan Malik is not anymore interested in wedding!" she retorted, Armaan scowled and stopped, "have your lunch quietly!" he spoke glaring at her with smile while she smirk back at him

"Guys, are you two coming or you two plan to live here too!" Armaan asked Rahul and Atul, "Yeaa lets go… we are done!" Atul took his plate and kept it in the sink. "I am done too!" Rahul got up, "go after Dinner na yaar!" Anjali stopped them picking up her and Muskan plate too, while Riddhima was finishing her. "No yaar it will be late…" Armaan said, "Anjali…!" Riddhima passed her plate to her; Armaan pulls her down off the counter, "Riddhima…" he stopped her "Haan Kya Hua Armaan?" she stopped and asked him, "stay here with me … for 5 minutes… you know" he holds her hand and pulls her in his embrace, circling his arms around her, "Today had been such a hectic day, running from office to home, from my home to your home, all this driving has worn me out!" he complained, hugging her tightly, hiding his face in her hair, inhaling her fragrance, "Seriously, my day had been tiring too… had to work so much!" she kept her hand over his arms, holding on to for support while her head tilting up a bit but soon adjusted it over his chest with close eyes, "whole day went in a rush, I am waiting for the day when you come home as my wife and we could stay together after tiring day!" he added. He moves back and makes her look at him, "I missed you!" he whispered, lowering his head, he pecked her lips, her eyes fell close, breathing heavily… "I Love you…" he whispered, his hand reaching up to cup her face, he probed his lips over her.

Riddhima pushed him away as she heard a woman shout, "What's happening outside?" she looks at him, and rush out. While he followed frowning and cursing the person for interruption "MummyJi, please come in…" Padma welcomed an old but stiff woman, "Bahu – Shahank Kahan hai?" Old lady asked, frowning. "Vo bass… kaam par hain MummyJi…" Padma replied walking along with her, a servant passed a glass of water to old lady, who angrily told him that she doesn't want one right now.

"Who's the lady?" Armaan asked, "How would I know? I m at house after soon many years! I don't know them Armaan!" Riddhima whispered back, and felt bad at her mama being scared. "Tumhri Betii Kahan hain?" old lady asked Padma about Riddhima, "Je eek minute!" Padma muttered, "Riddhima!" Padma called, Riddhima gulped and looks at Armaan, "go… I am here only!" Armaan whispered and slightly pushed her forward, Riddhima nervously walked up to them, the few people around the old lady were eyeing her. "Oh tou tum ho Padma ke Beti!" Old lady spoke, settling on seat and referred Riddhima as Padma's daughter, "Riddhima she is your Dadi beta!" Padma introduced her, Riddhima smiled looking down at her feet's, "Kitna faltu Kapre pehna hain! Jao badal kar ao!" Dadi scolded her in middle of so many people, as Riddhima was still in her PJ night suit, Riddhima stumbled back in her position, and it is when Armaan saw Padma looking at him, almost telling him to go… he understood, faintly smiled and told Atul and Rahul, "Let's Go!" Armaan whispered, he starts walking to door while Riddhima passing by their up to her room, to change, "Keep your mobile with you okay, and don't worry… call me when you need me!" he spoke ironically and walks away, while Riddhima rush up to her room.

Anjali and Muskan turned deaf eared while Riddhima's Dadi was shouting at the peak of her voice, and Riddhima had locked the door of room when she went to change and didn't came down at all, till Padma herself came up knocking, "Riddhima open the door!" Padma spoke, and that is when Riddhima opens and Padma walk in, "Riddhima see I know you are scared….. Even I am…" Padma told her fear, "but you have to be with me… I want you out there! Facing it!" Padma spoke, "Mama, why is Dadi like this! Why are you scared?" Riddhima questioned, feeling her mama's pain, "You don't have to know about things that are not important Riddhima… let the past go! I want you downstairs…" Padma's last three words were probably softer than the top…

"Mama… says her I went to bed… please na" Riddhima winced, holding onto her hand, "Your friend are out their helping them, you have great friends Riddhima – par you have to come down, your dadi is expecting you!" Padma pulled out a dress, shalwar suit for her, "change and come!"

Everything was mixed up, when her cell phone rang; she picked it up when Padma stepped out of the room, "Hello Armaan…" Riddhima answered, "No… I am going to change and now leave… I don't know… it is something related to me… mama said let the past go… hmmm; yes I will call you if I need you, Promise Armaan…. I Love you too…" She whispered, smiling. Listening to him for few minutes she decided to cut the call with the fear of old lady,

Sighing she changed and stepped out of her room to hear Dadi, shouting at one of the worker – and engagement card in her hand. "Oh hello Riddhima!" a girl around 25 came in front of her, "I am your dad's sisters! You have grown up too much!" The lady spoke, Riddhima smiled, "hello…" and walk up to her mama, afraid of the pathetic woman!

New Character:Abhimaniyu is a short role for now, his past is simple that he lost his dad due to loss in business and his mother died due to his father's death. And now he is a well reputed worker of Shahank Gupta, has a Wife, Nikki… and soon going to have a baby. He can be a permanent role or a cameo too!

About This Part: This Part was more of Riddhima, because this part would lead the next part disclosing Riddhima's parent's behavior! Why are they rude and all? Basically this would lead one of her parent disclose the past to Riddhima.
