Angad was in his cabin with Nisha, just talking. "Did you tell her yet?" she asked sipping on her coffee.
"No." He replied.
"When will you?"
"I don't know, Nisha." He was annoyed, frustrated.
"You want to go out for lunch?"
"No."
"Come on, Angad." She held his hand and made him stand up.
"Ok, wait let me get my jacket." They walked towards the door hand in hand when Kripa walked in, she lost her smile when she saw them holding hands. Of course Kripa knew Nisha, but she didn't know the kind of relationship they both shared.
"Well, well, well, there is the lucky gal! Hi Kripa."
She smiled and hugged. "Nice to see you Nisha. It's been long."
"I know, I saw Anagd in Goa a few months back. I've just been busy."
She forced a smile, "You guys going somewhere?"
"We were just going out to lunch. Want to join?"
"Uh, no I'm fine. I was just passing by so I thought to stop by." She smiled sadly at Angad. He had forgotten he had invited to have lunch with him. "I'll leave now. You guys enjoy your lunch. Bye Nisha, bye Angad."
"Bye Kripa." she replied happily. Angad said nothing and Kripa walked out the cabin. "She looked down Angad."
"I think I'm forgetting something Nisha."
"What?"
"I don't know, but I know I'm forgetting something." His phone buzzed, he checked it. It was a reminder about the lunch date. "Oh crap."
Nisha lifted a brow.
"I was going to take Kripa to lunch today. Oh, she's going to be mad." Nisha rolled her eyes as Angad rushed out, "See you later, Nisha"
"Bye." She said behind him.
Kripa was rushing down the streets, with angry tears in her eyes. It was a cool February afternoon, and Valentine Day hearts were everywhere on bill bards. "Stupid, Idiot, Donkey, Monkey, he was going to take me on lunch and… Uh!!! I hate him! I hate him, I hate him!"
She stopped the car in the driveway of Khanna house and walked in, then up to her room. Throwing her purse and jacket down she sat on the bed. Then stood up and walked to the study to work on the computer and finish a few things. When she opened the door of her room she found him standing in front of her with a bouquet of roses. Angry, she exhaled sharply and took the flowers from him and held them on top of the waste basket, but Angad quickly caught them before they hit the basket and put them a side.
He held his ears, "I'm sorry." She rolled her eyes and pushed him aside walking out. He followed her. "Kripa!" She turned around and Angad crashed into her, his lips brushing hers.
"What!" she still managed to scream.
"Sorry."
"Why what did you do now?"
He frowned, and then held his ears. "I said sorry, now smile." Kripa's face was steady and stern. She turned and went down stairs. "She's not going to melt that easily, Angad." He said to himself, and then continued to follow! "Kripa." he called after her.
"Yes Angad." she said oh so sweetly.
"Are you angry with me?"
She turned and Angad stopped walking. "Of course not. I love you so much how can I be angry at you!" She paused for just a sec and then yelled at him. "Angad you were going to take me out to lunch and there you were planning to take out another lady, right in front of your wife."
Angad stood there and observed her, pulled her closer and then kissed her cheek. "Someone is jealous."
She groaned and pushed him away. "I'm not jealous."
"Are too."
"Am not!" She said in an irritated voice.
"Ok, then I'll go back to Nisha and have lunch with her."
"Who stopped you?" She said as they both entered the kitchen.
"No one."
Kripa poured herself a glass of water and leaned on the counter. "Angad look, Saamiya and Mum are gone to the doctor, Karan, Prithvi, and Dad are at office. I'm alone with you and before I…"
Angad stood closer to her and held her around her waist. "Kripa I didn't know you were this romantic."
She leaned back, "If you don't leave me now, I'm going to throw this water on you."
"You won't."
"You know I will, Angad." Angad looked into her determined eyes for a few seconds and left her. She smiled, victoriously. "Good boy!" She turned and poured herself another glass, when she turned Angad was still standing there. "You didn't leave yet?"
"Please!" He begged.
"Please, what?"
"Have lunch with me?"
"No." She washed the glass and then dried it. When she turned Anagd was gone. Her face sunk as she left the kitchen. As she entered the living room, someone caught her hand, "you're still…" she turned and saw Prithvi. "Prithvi?" He left her hand and took a step back.
"I'm sorry, I… just…Angad wanted to…"
She stood in front of him for a few seconds, "Prithvi lets make this clear, you leave me alone with Angad and I'll be nice to you. I'm married to him now, and he's my husband and I'm not leaving him for anything. I love him and…"
"Kripa!" Angad yelled. She quickly ran outside and saw Anagd standing in front of his car, smiling.
"Angad! What's your problem?" She marched to him and stood in front of him, her arms crossed.
"Prithvi didn't tell you?"
"What?"
He pulled her closer, "That…"
"That?"
"I want to have lunch with you, I thought you would listen to him."
She rolled her eyes, "Oh!" she said softly. "Well Angad you're going to have to eat alone."
"No." He wined
"Yes!" she said in the same tone.
He turned his face, "Fine. I'm going back."
"Where?"
"To hell. Wanna come with me?"
"No thanks. I think I'm fine here." He left her and turned to open the door. "Angad."
"What?" He turned and looked at her. "I think I'm hungry."
He smiled, "Where would you like to go?"
"Anywhere you take me."
"Um…" before he could reply his phone rang. "Just a sec." She frowned as he answered the call. "But… ok I'll try… thirty minutes? Fine… ok bye."
"Let me guess. You have to go!"
He looked at her apolitically, "Can I take you out for dinner?"
She frowned, "Promise you won't forget again."
He put his hands up, "Never again."
"Good. I'll see you tonight." He sat down behind the wheel and started the car.
"Uh, Kripa."
She bend down, "What?"
"Look." He pointed the other way, and as she turned to look he kissed her, before she could look back at him he was driving away.
Prithvi stood at the door and smiled, happily. Kripa walked back to him fiddling with her ring. "I'm sorry Prithvi I didn't know that…"
"It's ok Kripa."
She smiled, "Lunch?"
He nodded, "I was just here to get a few files."
"Fine um?"
"No, can you get them, I think they are in Angad's room."
"Yeah come with me." They both walked to the study, no one needing to talk. Prithvi hadn't been in the study for an extremely long time, and when he did enter he was shocked. It wasn't the way it used to be. Completely organized, with pictures of Angad and Kripa on the back wall, and in the middle a cute picture of them on their wedding day, Angad's lips pressed to her cheeks, and a shocked look on her face.
He smiled looking at the picture. Kripa followed his gaze and smiled as well, the moment replayed in her mind, when Angad had suddenly kissed her cheek right before the picture was taken.
The thought ended with Prithvi's voice, "You love him a lot, don't you?"
She nodded as she walked to the table, "I do." She pulled a few files out, "You can look through these."
Picked out the files he needed and gave the rest back to Kripa. "He's lucky Kripa."
"Wrong Prithvi. I'm lucky." She secured the files away and looked at him, "You know I never thought I would be saying this but if it weren't for you we might not have been this close."
He looked confused, "In that case I should kick myself."
She laughed, "Don't Prithvi. Maybe if you didn't dump me then I would have been married to you. But what you don't know is that I had already dated Anagd before you. And I was in love with him then, we were just…" she stopped. "Forget it. You must go now, you're getting late."
He nodded, but didn't leave. "Kripa, I was always jealous of Angad. He always got what I should have had, what I deserved. And, you are a part of that, something I deserved."
Kripa smiled, "That's the difference between Angad and yourself Prithvi, he doesn't consider me 'something' he considers me his everything. And, to be honest he doesn't deserve me, I deserve him. I know he's done a lot to me, but I love him Prithvi. Moreover, he's sorry for what he's done."
"So was I."
"You were too late, Prithvi. Angad and I were destined. You are a past of my life that I don't want to look back at. Angad is my present, my future, and my past, he's my everything. I see him in every part of me, in every part of my life. He's what you could never be, what you never will be."
He nodded with tears in his eyes, and turned to leave. Kripa closed her eyes, glad she had this take with Prithvi. He seemed like a changed person from the last time they had talked. She sat down on Angad's chair and closed her eyes, the earlier kiss replaying in her head.
A smile crossed her lips, and she re-opened her eyes. She stood up and walked to the large picture on the opposite wall and fingered the frame. As she took her hand back and turned around she found Saamiya standing in the door way, smirking.
"Hey sis." she said, cheerfully. Kripa noticed her stomach had slightly started to show.
"Hi Di. How was the doctors visit?"
"It was good. Everything is fine."
"That's good." Kripa hugged her tightly. "I missed you Di."
"So did I. But I'm just glad you're back."
"Me too." She pulled away, and they both went down stairs, Naina had left again, and Kripa and Saamiya sat down to have lunch.
"I hope you didn't eat already." Saamiya asked Kripa.
"Fortunately or unfortunately we didn't." She sighed.
"We didn't?"
She nodded, "Angad was going to take me out to lunch."
"Then what happened?" Saamiya asked as they both started lunch.
"Well, first he forgot we were going out for lunch."
Saamiya laughed, "he's like that."
"I would know better." she sighed again. "Then when he did get home I gave him a hard time, by the time I agreed he had to go back to office."
"Oh, that's sad."
"Very." Kripa said jokingly.
"Why you didn't want to go?"
"Of course I did."
"Then?"
Kripa toyed with her food, as she spoke. "I'm confused Di."
"About?"
"Well I love Angad…"
Saamiya started coughing. "You," *cough* "love Angad?" *cough* *cough* *cough.*
Kripa rolled her eyes, "Like its not obvious, even Prithvi figured that out."
"Well I'm not surprised that Anagd hasn't."
"Saamiya!" Kripa said angry.
"Ok, continue."
"But you know what's he's done with me before."
"So?"
"So, everytime I want to tell him, I want to get close to him I can't because Rahul flashes in my mind and I stand him in the guilt box."
"Well its understandable Kripa. Its not easy to forget or forgive. But you have to. Rahul is our past, your past, Angad is your today and your future. Moreover, you love him. Move on in life Kripa. Don't hold it against him."
She nodded, "But then I don't even know if he feels about me the same way I feel for him."
She laughed at this, "Kripa if you saw him the way I have anyone could tell he loves you a lot. Either he doesn't know it himself, or either he can't tell you."
"Di, he's The 'Angad Khanna' it shouldn't be hard for him." They both giggle, with Karan entering the scene.
"What's the giggling about?" He kissed Saamiya and sat beside her. "How was the doctors visit."
"It was good, everything is fine."
"Good."
"Can I have something to eat?" Saamiya nodded, and Kripa stood up to leave.
"I'm going Di."
"Where?" Karan asked pulling his sleeves up.
"I have to get Angad his lunch too, he didn't eat. He should be done with his meeting now." She looked at the clock with dreamy eyes.
"Karan…" Saamiya said looking at Kripa. "You know something?"
"I know nothing."
"Kripa is in love with Angad."
Karan stopped chewing and looked up at Saamiya and then at a blushing Kripa. "You just found that out?" he asked Saamiya.
"Uh yes, because Kripa just figured out that she loves Angad."
"You both are typical girls. Wasn't it kind of obvious she did?"
"No, when I said that you said she didn't."
"Wrong Saamiya, you said that they both are in love."
"So Angad doesn't love me." Kripa said sadly.
"Well as far as I know, no." Karan looked at a sad Kripa. "Hey don't be sad, you waited almost a year, just some more time."
"True. Well I'm leaving now. I don't want him yelling at the entire office for me!" Saamiya giggled again and Kripa left.
*****
Unlike Kripa had suspected, Angad was not yelling in fact was in his cabin. The place was serene, and his chair was turned to the wall. Kripa placed the lunch down and walked to him, surprised when she saw his eyes closed. He was sleeping peacefully. Explained why, he had worked for the most night, the night before. She ran on hand thought his hair and kissed his forehead. He slowly opened his eyes and saw a smiling Kripa before him. "Hey Kripa." He said standing up. "What are you doing here?" He looked at the file on his desk, "Oh god. I still have to finish this." He sighed. Before he could pick the pen up, Kripa was holding his hand and pulling him to the sofa.
"You're not doing anything." She made him sit down and then sat down beside him. "You're working to hard Angad." She said softly.
He smiled and placed his head in her lap and closed his eyes. "No I'm just tired."
She played with his hair as he slowly dosed off again. "Angad." He opened his eyes again. "Lets go home, you really need to rest."
He looked at her with his sleepy eyes. "I do. I haven't got more than four hours of sleep a night from a week now."
She smiled at him, "I'm proud of you." He smiled back and sat up, "Come on eat something, and then you are going home and taking the day off."
"What about our dinner?"
"That we can take care of anytime. But you need to take care of yourself, don't overwork yourself Angad. Karan doesn't, Prithvi doesn't, you don't need to either."
"I know Kripa. But they have done more than I ever will, already. Don't you think its my turn?"
"Yes, but I'm sure they never only got four hours of sleep a night, for an entire week."
He didn't reply, and Kripa smiled.
