I'm sooo sorry for the late update 😭 🥱(what's new? 🤓) and especially sorry to jasangel, who gave me so many PMs and yet I wasn't able to give you people a quicker update 🤢🥱! Sowwwyyy 😭!!!

Chapter 17
"No no no no no no no no!" Shilpa was hitting the dashboard as Sue drove and Naina tried to contact Sid and/or Riddhima. "WHY did mom have to come now? Why did ANJIE of all people have to come now???? When it was all going so perfectly! Whywhywhywhywhywhywhywhy? Do you know what this means? DO YOU???"
Sue: WHAT DOES IT MEAN SHILPA????
Shilpa: Well, firstly, Anjie is gonna tease Di SOOO MUCH if she finds out about her and Sid bhaiyya. And you know Di. She'll feel so embarrassed that she won't feel relaxed around Sid anymore. And mom? She won't say anything much and will just purse her lips. If she likes Sid, then it's alright, but if she doesn't, oh God. I don't even want to think what will happen then...
Naina muttered to no one in particular, "Yeh kaunsa make-out session hai jo khatam nahi ho raha?"
"WHAT????" Sue and Shilpa couldn't believe their ears that NAINA had said such a thing.
Naina just looked at them in a what-did-I-say? sort of way. "Kya? Kab se phone laga rahi hoon lekin koi utha hi nahi raha. Aur hum ne 30 minutes mein tumhe aur Ridzy ko ghar pohnchana hai, to mujhe nahi lagta - "
Naina cut off as Sue braked the car sharply, nearly causing them to hit the dashboard/seat in front of them.
Sue looked at both of them. "Abhi sirf ek hi kaam hai jo ho sakta hai..."
Naina: Kya kaam? Kaunsa kaam?
Shilpa looked at Sue in horror, "No Sue... yeh mat kaho, please don't say it..."
"Yes Shilpa," said Sue in a depressed voice and then sighed, turning to Naina, "You will have to face superboy and Ridz Di."
Naina's jaw dropped open, "Oh God Sue, koi aur raasta nahi hai? I mean un dono ko interrupt kar ke unse yeh kehna ke... Nahi yaar, I can't do this."
"Tumhe karna pade ga Naina," said Shilpa, who looked as if she was about to cry. "I mean if Siddhima see us they're gonna kill us and I'm gonna have to go and meet Mom and Anjie anyway, so you're the only one who can... tell them to come home NOW. Or just Di in fact. Sid bhaiya can go home."
Naina gulped as Sue started driving again, and then she stopped the car at the park. Naina had barely gotten out the car and closed the door when Sue sped away before she could have second thoughts.
Naina proceeded to where they had last seen SR, muttering along the way, "Jogging session kya, torture session ban gaya yeh to. Yeh jo 2 pairs nahi hain, yeh Sid aur Riddhima, aur yeh Sue aur Shilpa, in ke haaton to mein pagal ho jaaon gi. Ab Sue aur Shilpa ki waja se mujhe un doosron ko interrupt karna ho - OUCH!"
Naina bumped into someone really hard. Like really hard.
"Oh hi Naina, kaisi ho?" said the person who she bumped into.
"YUVI?????" Naina almost shouted.
"Umm, yeah? What's up?" Yuvi had obviously been jogging because he was in a tracksuit and was covered in a light sheen of sweat.
"Kam az kam dekh ke to chala karo!!" Naina stormed at him.
"Um, okay? Sorry I guess." Yuvi said carelessly.
"You - mein - ARGHHH!" Naina stomped off.
"What happened to her?" Yuvi thought. "Yeh aaj kal ki ladkiyan bhi na." Shrugging, he continued his jogging.
Naina reached the bushes where she and the soul-sisters had been hiding. Trying to part the leaves in the bushes, Naina cut her finger on a thorn. "Ouch," she whispered and wrapped her finger in her jacket. Carefully parting the leaves again, she could see no sign of either Sid or Riddhima...
"Hey Naina! What are you doing?" Naina nearly got a heart attack.
"YUVI TUM???"
"Haan, mein. It looked like you were having fun so I decided to join you. Waise, tum kar kya rahi ho?"
"Oh God, Yuvi tum mera peecha kyun kar rahe ho?" said Naina in an exasperated voice.
"Mein? Tumhara peecha? HA! Not likely," he scoffed, making Naina even angrier. "I was just bored so decided to join you. Can you please tell me what you're doing?"
"It's none of your business, Mister!" said Naina in a huff.
"Okay okay, sheesh, just trying to help. Well, bye Miss mind-your-own-business!" Yuvi almost got up when Naina had a brainwave.
"Oh wait Yuvi! Kya tum ne Sid ya Riddhima ko dekha hai?"
"Umm, Sid ka nahi pata ke woh kaun hai, aur Riddhima wahi jis ke saath tumhari party pe dance kia tha?"
"Haan, that's the one!"
"She just left a few seconds before you bumped into me. She was with some tall guy, and they both got into a car and left."
"OH GOD SHE LEFT???? WITH SID???? NO!!!!!! SUE AND SHILPA ARE GONNA KILLL ME!!!!!!" Naina wailed, wringing her hands in desperation.
"Hey, you could still catch up... if you drive really fast..." said Yuvi reassuringly (sort of)
"I DON'T HAVE MY CAR RIGHT NOW!!!"
"I'll drive you," said Yuvi, but then hesitated, "...if you want me to."
"OMG REALLY? THANKS SO MUCH YUVI!!! C'MON JALDI!! WE HAVE NO TIME TO LOSE!!!!!!" Naina got so relieved and excited that she hugged him and then ran off towards the parking area.
"Umm Naina?" said Yuvi, amused. "The car's that way." He pointed to the opposite direction.
"Oh, right."

And what were our lovely SR doing during all of this? Yeah, about that...
In the car:
Riddhima: Hrithik Rohan is so not better than Ranbir Kapoor! Seriously Sid, what even makes you say that????
Sid: Riddhima, please! Ranbir is nothing more than a wannabe and I think that is proved by his flop ke baad flop ke baad flop. He has almost no personality in my opinion. Oh and by the way, even he said that he wanted to be like Hrithik!!
It had been silent in the car at first because Riddhima had been feeling really embarrassed and shy in the beginning. Then the conversation started with Sid saying something about Dhoom 3. And now:
Riddhima: But he is wayyy better-looking and cuter than Hrithik!
Sid: Guys are not only to be judged by their looks, sweetheart. Agar yahi case hota to tum mere bajaye zaroor kisi aur ladke ke saath abhi bethi hoti.
Riddhima (blushing lightly): God Sid! Who ever said that you're not good-looking??
Sid: No one! I know I am extremely hot and handsome, but there still might be other guys for you, since you apparently go more for looks than for personality in guys.
Riddhima (stung a little): How can you be so sure of that Sid? Do you really think I fell for you only because of your looks? Because you're wrong if you do!!
Sid (his tone teasing): Well, tell me then! Why did you fall for me?
Riddhima (trying to sound angry): I won't tell you! Because you think you're so handsome that I fell for you because of your looks. Whoever even said that I fell for you??? I might just be time-passing with you, you never know...
Sid (smirking): It didn't seem like time-passing about ten minutes ago.
Riddhima (going red now): Shut up Sid. You know, tum bohat bolte ho. You talk really very much. It's enough to distract me from what I'm thinking about. I mean I don't even remember how this conversation started...
Unable to control himself any more, Sid burst out laughing, braking the car just in case while Riddhima yelled angrily."What? What did I say? WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING AT ME????"
"I think you're mistaken. I'm sure tum to mujh se ziada hi bolti ho," Sid said between chuckles.
Riddhima "Hmph"ed and turned her head around, fuming and in full-on chudail-mode, while Sid laughed silently to himself and looked at her affectionately.
Not too far away, Yuvi and Naina were in Yuvi's car and had only just spotted SR's car and so Yuvi was doing his best to catch up, while Naina first dialed Riddhima's number a million times and then Sid's number a thousand times but they had forgotten to un-silent-ify their cell phones. Then she dialed Sue's number and explained the situation. Sue in turn told her that she was outside Ridzy's flat and Shilpa was now with Padma aunty and Anjie. And probably Riddhima will be grounded for life (or something) if she doesn't make it back in half an hour.
With Shilpa:
"Nahi mom, I'm sure Riddhima abhi zinda hai aur kidnap bhi nahi hai," Shilpa was assuring her mom of Riddhima's safety for the past 5 minutes. And Anjie was in the kitchen looking for something to eat. "ANJIE THERE IS NO CHICKEN TIKKA IN THE KITCHEN!!!" Shilpa shouted in exasperation.
If there was one thing our Shilpoo hated it was looking after people older than her. Interfering in their personal lives is a different matter of course (DUH!).
With SR:
"Waise, when did you fall for me?" he asked after a pause, genuinely curious now.
"You mean, when did I fall for you or when did I realise that I had fallen for you?" Riddhima asked, still staring out of the window.
"Mmm, whichever."
"Well I don't think I ever fell for you at a specific time. It's a slow process you know, falling in love with someone." Riddhima smiled to herself. "But I realised that I love you at Naina's party. When I saw you outside...and thought you were... you know, with Natasha." She winced. "Ab tum batao."
"Now that's weird. Even I realised the truth at Naina's party. When I was dancing with her, she asked me whether I was in love with you. That's when I knew. That what i felt for you was love, nothing else." They phinalllyyy reached the apartment building. Sid pulled up in front of the main entrance. "But when did I fall for you? Hmmm," Sid leaned in close to her, just enough to make her heart beat erratically. His voice dropped to a whisper, "I think I fall for you harder and harder each time I see you." Riddhima closed her eyes and felt a chill run through her. Her breathing grew laboured as she too moved closer to him, until she could almost taste his breath. "I love you Ridzy," he whispered into her mouth.
"I know. But I love you more," Riddhima closed in on him and kissed him. The moment their lips met, Ridzy felt a current rush through her body, painful yet sweet. She wasn't even slightly satisfied when Sid pulled back from the kiss.
"Abhi ke liye itna hi kaafi hai," said Sid in a mock stern voice, though with a smirk on his face.
Riddhima was just about to object to this when some car right behind them started honking continuously. Then it suddenly stopped and they heard a car door slamming and running feet. In a moment it takes to think, Naina was at Ridzy's window and pounding at it, shouting things they couldn't hear.
Sid had that shocked look on his face (that reallly cute one😳) and Riddhima was staring at Naina's frustrated face, looking slightly confused and her mouth partly open. But she suddenly snapped back to her senses and lowered her window.
"Naina! Tum yahan... kya kar rahi ho? Is everything okay?" Riddhima asked in a slightly concerned manner, since Naina was looking pretty hysterical. "Kya sab kuch theek hai?"
"Sab kuch theek hai? SAB KUCH THEEK HAI????" Naina shouted and then Yuvi was with her and was holding her arms from behind since Naina had just been about to hit the car. No one could blame poor Naina, who had been on the edge of hysteria throughout the car drive following SR, shouting out of the window and at Yuvi and cursing at her cell phone.
"Calm down Naina, calm down!!!" Yuvi said to her. Naina composed herself at took a deep breathe, stabilising herself.
"No time for explanantions. Ridzy, your mom and Anjie are here. They will kill you if you don't get back in time. And Sue and Shilpa will kill ME if you don't get back in time, since they think that -"
"Sue and Shilpa? Where'd they come from?"
"Crap," said Naina in a low voice, so only Yuvi heard her. He chuckled. "Ummm, Shilpa and Sue were with me when Shilpa got a call from your mom cuz u weren't picking up your phone -"
"OMG, my phone!" Riddhima hurriedly took her cell out. So did Sid. And they stared at their respective screens in horror.
After a few seconds of mute horror, Sid said, "I've got 73 missed calls. You?"
"84." was all Riddhima could manage.
"Yeah, that would be me," said Naina, her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, that was definitely her," said Yuvi, rolling his eyes, recalling all the curses and shouts Naina had hurled at her phone (even though the poor thing was guiltless). Naina gave him a killer look.
Sure enough, 49 of Ridzy's missed calls were from Naina, 8 were from her mom, 13 were from Sue and 14 were from Shilpa. Sid's case was much the same except that he didn't have any calls from Ridzy's mom of course.
"OMG I'M FREAKING DEAD!!!!" Riddhima yelled, and got out of the car, slamming the door, and running inside.
"BYE RIDZY!" Sid yelled to her.
Riddhima looked back, sort of looked shocked that she had forgotten to say goodbye to Sid, and then ran back to him. She hugged him, gave a him a kiss on the cheek and said in breathless voice, "Thanks so much for the wonderful date Sid! This was the best day of my life! I love you!" Giving him another peck, she ran back into the building.
The moment Ridzy was out of sight, Naina and Yuvi turned to Sid and said together, "Ooo! Someone's in luuuvvve!"
Sid started pushing them both towards Yuvi's car, while they continued to tease him and tried to resist his pushes. Once they were safely inside the car, Sid said to them , "Haan haan, khoob hanso mujh par! Jab tum dono ki baari aayegi tho don't expect any sympathy from me!" Saying that he walked off.
When they had processed Sid's words, Naina and Yuvi looked at each other. And started laughing like maniacs...

With the Guptas:
After the usual greeting of "MOM!" "RIDZY!" "ANJIE!" "WHERE THE HELL WHERE YOU?" etc, and after being rellieved that Riddhima was completely fine, Padma aunty was now lecturing Ridzy on the appropriate use of mobile phones (we've all got that one 😛)
"...aur agar kkoi emergency hui aur tumhara phone silent pe ho tho phir kya hoga? Issi liye apna phone hamesha on rakho, chahe tum kahin pe bhi jaao, warna koi na koi mussibat zaroor..." went Padma's monotonous speech. Thankfully, Shilpa called from the bedroom "MOM! Ek minute yahaan aayein!"
Heaving a sigh of relief, Anjali turned her attention towards Riddhima (she had been nodding her head and pretending to listen to her mother for the past five minutes, but whatever). And said, "Soo Ridzy! I guess you want to know ke hum kyun aaye hain?"
Riddhima turned to her elder sister, "Ummm, mujhe tho laga tum logon ainvayi visit karne aaye ho. Right?"
"Well, that too. But actually real reason kuch aur hai," Anjali moved a bit closer to Ridzy. "Something's come up at home... and Mom and Papa are kind of impatient about it... Tumhe papa ke dost Mr. Vikram yaad hain?"
"Papa ke bohat purane dost?" said Riddhima, remembering. "You mean the one jis ke baal college mein lambe hua karte the?" she giggled.
Anjali nodded, "Yup that's the one. Well you see," Anjali lowered her voice "actually baat yeh hai ke... you know...umm..."
Riddhima was curious now. "Haan... bolo..."
"Woh... ummm... kya hai ke... woh..." Anjali was hesitating. Perhaps she was just trying to irritate Ridzy, perhaps she really was hesitant, you never know with older sisters (I should know. I am one). But at that moment Padma came back and Anjali changed her tone, volume and subject with the speed of light. "Woh kya hai ke I just found out that I'm getting my CSS degree on the exact day of my 23rd birthday!" (My FF's Anjali is not a doctor) "Isn't that awesome? And since it'll be in the summer you and Shilpa will be there to celebrate the double party with me! Iss se behtar kya ho sakta hai???" (list of birthdays is given at the end of this update.
Padma smiled at them. Anjali beamed back. Riddhima looked slightly confuzzled but she too smiled at her mother.
"Haan, aur Riddhima, kuch dino mein tumare Papa bhi yahaan aane wale hain," said Padma causually. A bit too casually.
"WHAT????" Riddhima said loudly.
"KYA???" said SHilpa, who had just appeared in the doorway.
"Haa-an," said Padma, a bit surprised at this outburst. "Kyun? Kya koi... masla hai?" What she didn't know was that almost the same thought has struck both the sisters' minds:
Riddhima (thinking): OMG NO!!!!! IF PAPA COMES THEN I WON'T BE ABLE TO... HANG OUT WITH SID!!
Shilpa: NOOO! IF PAPA COMES ME AND SUE WON'T BE ABLE TO SPY ON SIDDHIMA AND HELP EVOLVE THEIR LOVE STORY
(Both of them had their own worries, you see)
But outwards they both just said together, "Oh no. Koi masla nahi hai."
"Woh zarra shock lag gya," added Shilpa sweetly. "Haan haan, exactly," said Riddhima.
Anjali raised an eyebrow. She could sense something was up. After all, she was the older sister and knew her sisters almost as well as they knew themselves.
"Aur haan, Riddhima tum se ek chhoti si baat dicuss karni hai..." said Padma. "Leikn mujeh lagta hai ke Papa aa jayein to ziada behtar hoga..." She looked a bit worried but then said brightly, "Tho Riddhima, batao ke tum ne decide kia hai ke tum aage jaa ke kya karo gi?"
"Haan Mom. I'm gonna be a doctor, DEFINITELY!' said Riddhima with confidence. That was what she had always wanted to do, even since she was young.
For some reason, Padma looked a bit relieved. Then turning to Shilpa, she asked "Aur tum, Shilpa?"
"Mom, I know kw aap chahti hain ke mein doctor bann jaaon, but i really don't have the aptitude for it. I really really really want a career in designing. And not just clothes, interior decorating, textile designing, EVERYTHING! Because that's what i love and there's no use spending your life in something you don't like!"
"Acha acha,.theek hai," said Padma. "Mein tum logon ki career choice pe koi aiteraaz nahi karne waali!"
"Eeek, thanks Mom!" Shilpa hugged her.
Meanwhile, Riddhima was feeling a bit worried. She wanted to know what it was that Anjali wanted to tell her. She was sure it was related to the thing her mom wanted to discuss with her but felt that she couldn't. Ridzy hated the feeling of something hanging over her, but she couldn't get a chance to talk to Anjali alone that day.
At night, while Riddhima was in her bed, her phone stated ringing. Good thing it was on vibrate, or else it would have woken Anjie up, who was sleeping in Ridzy's room during their stay (Padma was in Shilpa's room).
It was Sid. Riddhima answered the call.
"Sid!"
"Hey Ridzy," It was amazing that just the sound of his voice relaxed her. If only a little. "Hope you weren't asleep."
"Nahi, I'm awake," said Ridzy. "Kya hua?"
"I just wanted to make sure ke koi problem tho nahi hai, jo tumhari Mom itni suddenly aa gayi hai?"
"Well, mujhe nahi lagta ke koi problem hai, lekin koi baat tho zaroor hai, jo meri Mom abhi mujhe batana nahi chahti. Lekin mere Dad bhi kuvh dino mein aane wale hain, so I don't really know."
"Hmmm, ok then," then his tone changed to teasing. "Koi iraade hain mujhe apne parents se millwane ke?"
Riddhima blushed for some reason, "We'll see. And, Sid, thanks again so much for the great day."
Sid laughed over the phone. "Tumhe thank you bolne ki kya zaroorat hai? I should thank you for making it the most magical day of my life. Thank you so much Ridzy!"
Riddhima gave a silent laugh, "My pleasure. Chalo ab sone jaao."
"No problem ma'am, Good night!" said Sid, and then added in a low, husky voice. "And remember, I love you."
Even over the phone, his husky voice gave her goosebumps, and her voice was full of love when she replied, "I love you too. Good night."
Call ended. Riddhima sighed. What she wouldn't give for just five more minutes of his company. Recalling their so called 'date' and the kisses they had shared, Riddhima blushed into her pillow and pulled the sheet over her head. Soon, she was asleep.

The next morning:
Riddhima woke up really early (about 5:30 AM) because of Anjali, talking to someone on the phone. Unlike most people, Anjali didn't get jet lag, but the complete opposite of jet lag. Meaning that she would be restless for about at least 2-3 days before she got more than 2 hours of sleep after a change of time-zone. No doubt she had gotten up in the night and watched TV or something like that.
Anjali seemd to be talking to Atul, her fiance. (Sorry, but I just HAD to get Atul in this story). And, as usual, she seemed to be scolding him for something or the other.
Riddhima couldn't go to sleep again now anyway. Anjie ended her call and looked at RIddhima, "Goood morning sleepyhead!" RIddhima sat up in bed and stretched her arms. Then, propping herself on her elbows, she asked, "Was that Atul?"
"Huh? Oh yeah. It was that bonehead. He thought I was going to France and got all mad because apparently it was his life's ambition to go to France, and how could I, the love of his life, not even tell him that I was going to France. I told him to rack his memory and remind himself that he was the one that brought the tickets for me and mom from the ticket office. That shut him up." Riiddhima laughed while Anjie rolled her eyes but then smiled.
Then Ridzy was reminded of yesterday. Now a bit anxious, she asked Aniie, "Umm, Anjie?"
"Haan?" Anjie said while applying eyeliner.
"Woh... kal tum mujhe kal kya batane wali thi?" Riddhima asked cautiously "Aur Mom aur Papa mere saath kya discuss karna chahte hai?"
Anjie put away her compact mirror and eyeliner. She looked at Ridzy, sighed and looked worried and a bit unhappy. And this in itself was unusual, because Anjali never looked worried. AS in never EVER! Not when their Dad was doubtful about Atul, not when she was accused wrongly of cheating on him, not when her 18th birthday bash had to be cancelled, not even when she and her friends had a really major fight. She was the type of person who stayed strong and solved problems with her levelheadedness and spirit of fight. And everything would be alright in the end.
But now... things didn't look too good.
"Mr. Vikram's business is going down the drain. He lost a lot of clients because people thought he was untrustworthy and of bad character. Now don't ask me why, I don't know!" said Anjali at Ridzy's questioning look. Then the words fell out in a rushed tumble, "Vikram-uncle-thinks-that-if-you-marry-his-son-or-even-just-agree-to-marry-him-it-will-help-save-his-face. The things men do to save their so called izzat are unbelievable. I thought Papa was joking when he said that because you know Papa. He can't even think of his three little angels getting married and leaving him. Whenever anyone opens the subject he closes it, so you can imagine what amount of convincing he had to do to even make us believe that he had the idea in mind..." Anjali stopped her train of blabber (once she started she couldn't stop, thinking that talking might get Ridzy's mind off the real subject, since sha had suddenly gotten very pale).
"Papa...wants me...to get married?" Ridzy whispered the dreaded word.
Anjali, thinking this was the biggest of Riddhima's concerns, laughed. "Arre idiot! Of course not! He won't even agree to that unless you're at least a professional and over the age of 25!! But you know, it's just a sort of...umm reservation that Vikram uncle is making. You could get engaged to his son after a few years if you want, but even that can wait..."
Anjali looked at Ridzy in horror, "OMG Ridzy, why are you crying?" For Riddhima's eyes had filled with sudden tears "It's no big deal, I swear! Koi badi baat nahi hai! You can get married at the age of 30 for all Papa cares! Bas baat yeh hai ke...you know..."
Riddhima's voice shook with the force of the tears she was holding back. "Aur agar mein uss se shaadi nahi karna choon, tho?" she whispered.
"I'm sure you feel that way, lekin Rahul ek bohat achha ladka hai and if you get to know him over the years you will definitely like him..." Anjie was attempting half-heartedly to console Riddhima, but she felt there was more to the subject.
"And if I like someone else then?" said Riddhima more loudly as a single tear ran down her cheek. Anjali was at a loss for what to say. Was this the reason then? That Riddhima was in l- "Aur agar mujhe kisi aur se pyaar ho tho?? Phir kya, Anjie? Huh, phir kya hoga???"
Anjali remained silent. Riddhima calmed down, still holding back her tears. "I'm sorry, Anjie," she said, wiping away the tear. "Yeh tumhari ghalti nahi hai, I just got overwhelmed."
Anjali knew there was no use consoling her. Riddhima just got more upset if you tried to give her sympathy and felt sorry for her. Riddhima got up and went to the bathroom, controlling her tears for just a few more seconds, before she locked the door behind her.
Anjali sighed, about to cry herself. (Seriously, when you watch someone cry, you just feel like crying for that person). But Riddhima didn't come out for a long time.
