Recap:
Geet looked up and her face was inches away from Maan's. Maan nuzzled his nose into Geet's hair, he put his finger on her chin and turned her around, making her face him,. He planted a kiss on her forehead. Now this is where you belong, he said taking her hands in his and placing them close to his heart, so she could feel his heart beat. The wearying effects of the alcohol started to kick in and they both didn't realize when they started to forget why they were mad at each other. And atleast for that night they hugged and fell asleep in each other's arms.
Part 13:
The rays of the morning sun entered through the back windows of the taxi spreading equally across Maan and Geet's faces as they lay sleeping in each other's arms, with Geet's head placed safely in the crook of Maan's neck and her hands placed by his heart, while his hands were wrapped around her waist holding her close.
Geet felt the sun in her face and started opening her eyes very slowly. She opened one eye and as the bright rays entered her eyes she felt a splitting headache and closed them again. She snuggled closer into the rather hard seat she was sleeping against. She wanted to straighten her back and pushed it harder against the seat when she felt something prickly against her cheek. Startled, Geet quickly opened her eyes and found herself so close to Maan's face that she could almost kiss his cheek. He was fast asleep and she looked down at her waist and realized that his hands were holding her tightly. Geet blushed and then proceeded to move her hands which were clutching Maan's shoulder so she could move his hands from her waist. She took one hand and clutched her head which was about to split open because of her headache from drinking last night. As she was moving her other hand, Maan started twisting in his sleep pulling her closer and Geet's elbow hit him in the face.
Maan: Ouch! Maan woke up with a jerk letting go of Geet's waist and holding his head which was already aching.
Geet: OMG, I am so sorry, Geet said as she started to press his forehead. Are you ok? Does it hurt?
Maan smiled at her concern. But when Geet noticed the smile on his face, she moved back causing Maan to frown.
Maan: Yea I am fine he said sadly, rubbing his forehead. Geet looked at the sadness in his eyes and then remembering the happenings of the previous night and not willing to melt in front of him, turned away.
Soon after, the others woke up and they all returned to their apartments.
Since now they were all on winterbreak, Geet was going to volunteer at the hospital till her classes resumed. She decided to take a nice hot shower to get over her hangover so she could head over to the hospital in the afternoon.
After she came out of the shower Geet was laying down thinking about last night and how she had behaved with Maan. Maybe she should have heard him out and given him a chance to explain.
Just then Geet got a call.
Geet: Hello.
Happy New Year Geet!! Said a voice in a British accent
Geet: Di is that you?! OMG Happy New Year to you too!! How are you?!
Mansi: I am fine, tu suna, how's everything..i called you so many times last night, I left a message too, kahan thi.
Geet: Oh wo wo Di, I went out with some friends to see the ball drop so must have missed your calls. Anyway Jeej kasiay hain? Aur Aman?
Mansi: Tere jeej bhi theek hai aur Aman wants to see his maasi for real now. When are you coming to England to meet us?
Geet: Di you know I am so caught up with college and stuff, don't have any plans as of now.
Mansi: But I have an idea of how we can meet, infact we can meet this summer itself.
Geet: In the summer? And how is that?
Mansi: Geet, listen to me carefully, mujhey aik bohut zaroori baat discuss karni hai.
Geet: Yea Di, bolo I'm listening Geet said sitting up on the bed now.
Mansi: Actually, meri papaji mummyji se baat hui thi, they stay really worried for you, upar se tu jaanti hai papaji ki tabiyaat bhi theek nahi rehthi, toh'
Geet: Toh kya di..
Mansi: Toh who log chahthay hai ke teri shaadi jald se jald hojaye.
Geet: Di are you out of your mind?! Shaadi?! Already?
Mansi: Kabhi na kabhi toh karni hai na.
Geet: Haan di par I still have to finish college and then I have my dream of becoming a doctor, I can't leave all that behind.
Mansi: Who is telling you to leave that behind? I am just telling you to consider it, aur shaadi kaunsi right away karni hai we can do it in a few years.
Geet: Ok whatever di, I'll think about it, khush?
Mansi: Good, but that's not all..
Geet: Ab kya hai?
Mansi: Woh actually Geet baat yeh hai ke there is this guy'
Geet: OMG Geet don't tell me you guys already found a guy too?!
Mansi: Tu meri baat toh sun, actually uska naam Raj hai..woh papaji ke dost ka beta hai.
Geet: Toh phir di, she said rolling her eyes.
Mansi: Dekh Geet bohut acha ladka hai, mummyji, papaji ko bhi pasand hai, tu ek bar usay mil ke toh dekh, maybe you'll like him. And he lives in NY too, actually woh Columbia main student hai.
As Mansi continued to praise Raj, Geet tuned out her voice and drifted off into her own thoughts which consisted of none other then Maan. She closed her eyes to take in all that her sister had said but when she did the only person she pictured in front of her was Maan. There he stood in a white t-shirt smiling at her and pulling his ears saying sorry, Geet smiled and then whispered "Maan"
Mansi: still on the line..and he is studying accounting'tall'handsome'.as she heard Geet say Maan'Geet are you even listening..Maan? Maan kaun?
Geet: Oh wo Di'actually, main keh rahi thi kay kay haan..kay aap Maan jao na please.abhi shaadi nahi karni.. she sighed at coming up with a good excuse.
Mansi: Geet, koi tujhay force nahi kar raha we just want you to meet him. And mummyji papaji are quite serious this time, especially papaji..you know him and the whole jawan ladki pardes main akeli and all'he wants to know that you are in safe hands.
Geet: Di, I take perfect care of myself, I don't need some guy to constantly protect me.
Mansi: Geet no matter how much we deny it, in the end we all need that shoulder we can rest on and arms we can feel safe in.
At the mention of safety in his arms..Geet remembered all the times Maan picked her up..She really didn't want to think of him but he just kept invading her thoughts and it was irritating her to the extreme.
Mansi: Geet kya baat hai? Why are you avoiding this topic so much? Tu kya kisi ko pasand karthi hai? If that's the case you know you can tell me na?
Geet: No no Di, it's nothing like that..Geet said still a bit depressed and deep down denying her true feelings.
Mansi: Good I thought so, waisay bhi tu hi hamesha kehti thi ke tu mummyji papaji ki pasand se hi shaadi karegi.
Geet: Haan she said remembering how she constantly used to say that where it was Mansi who had opted for a love marriage. She was not going to let her parents down..never.
Mansi: So you ready to meet him?
Geet: Umm okk Di, fiiinee.
Mansi: Great then, he'll be contacting you this afternoon, I told him to so you can meet him today itself.
Geet: Uff ho di today I had to go to the hospital.
Mansi: Ok meet him for coffee or something before that baba, it's not a big deal. I am texting you his number ok, I already gave him yours so he might call first.
Geet: Ok Di, Geet said nonchalantly.
Mansi: Great..chal main rakthi hoon..Aman is getting out of hand it's his lunch time..talk to you soon take care and give Raj a chance ok. Love you. Bye
Geet: Love you too Di.
After her call Geet texted Raj and he wanted to meet up at Starbucks.
As Geet headed down to the Starbucks on her block, she was reminded of the time she had met Maan down those same streets in his taxi. She entered the Starbucks and looked towards the table where he had sat. This time a guy of about the same height sat at the very same seat, he was texting on his Blackberry and had a book open which he was flipping through with his left hand as he texted with his right, he had on black thick rimmed glasses which he kept adjusting on his pointy nose nervously. Geet prayed silently to herself that this guy didn't turn out to be Raj. But all failed when she got a text on her phone.
Raj: Hey I am at table #3, where are you?
Geet looked up in dismay as she noticed that the table number where the nerd sat was indeed #3. She sighed and walked on over to him.
Geet: Hi she said moving her head to the side. Geet..she took out her hand for him to shake.
Raj: Hey Geet, Raj he said laughing a weird squeaky laugh that reminded Geet of a cartoon she watched in childhood or rather Akshay Kumar from Jaaneman, standing up, So nice to meet you he said adjusting his glasses as he waited for her to take a seat first.
They sat down and they ordered coffee. He had a weird way of drinking coffee where he would be constantly taking out his handkerchief and wiping his mouth as the coffee spilled out from the corners everytime he took a sip. He asked Geet questions about her studies and she answered them. Their conversation was mostly college based and Geet didn't really enjoy his company. Rather her thoughts drifted off to Maan and his endearing personality which had caught her attention as he had sat in this very same seat that Raj was now sitting in. His blue-green eyes, his smile everything was perfect, while Raj..well he was the most awkward and clumsiest guy Geet had ever encountered. Geet didn't want to judge Raj by comparing him to Maan. She was supposed to give him a chance and not fit him into the "perfect guy" image she had molded after seeing Maan. Afterall , with all that had transpired between them, Geet had realized that Maan wasn't perfect afterall. She decided to talk to Raj.
After Geet spoke to him for about half an hour she told him she had to head over to the hospital. She really couldn't take the boring talks much longer. Raj said they could meet later for dinner if she liked and Geet said she'd call him, which she in her mind, really had no intentions of doing.
While Geet was constantly reminded of Maan in her daily activities, Maan's situation wasn't any different.
Maan was at home with Vicky. He was making some pasta for himself. As he was pouring the oil into the pan he started remembering Geet's coldness towards him. He got angry at his helplessness and how he wasn't able to talk to her and fix everything up. Unconsciously, he punched his fist against the stove and the hot oil came splashing against his hands.
Maan: Ahh, he screamed.
Vicky who was in his room came running over.
Vicky: Maan what did you do? He said yelling. Dude kya hogaya hai tujhay aj kal, kin khaylaon main ghum rehta hai? He made Maan wash his hands in cold water, but the oil was really hot and the burns were looking serious so Vicky decided to take him to the hospital.
It was evening, Geet was in the ER of the hospital. She watched as patients came him with different ailments. A pregnant woman with quite an interesting case came in and Geet stepped into a room with the doctors to watch as they did her ultrasound.
Just then Maan came into the ER with Vicky. He was taken into the room right across from the one Geet was in. The young nurse put ointment on his burns and bandaged his hand. Another young med student who was interning came to watch and started flirting with Maan. Maan knew her as she had been in one of his classes. As he was high-fiving her and laughing away with her, the girl put her arm on Maan's shoulder telling him he'd be ok. Then she gave him a hug and kiss on the cheek to tell him to feel better. Just then Geet turned around in the room she was in with the pregnant woman. Through the glass door she saw Maan hugging a beautiful blonde girl. She felt betrayed for some reason and felt herself suffocating in the room. She ran out of there and as she did Maan's eyes caught her fleeting figure and he realized what she must have seen. Geet got a text from Raj, asking her where they were gonna meet for dinner. Geet was very upset after seeing Maan now with some other girl, it was as if he had a million girls around him and he purposely flirted with them. Angry, Geet agreed to have dinner with Raj and called him to pick her up.
Geet headed over to the changing room and took off her scrubs. She changed into her black dress pants and red buttoned down shirt. She was in the middle of changing when the lights of the bathroom started to flicker. Then she heard a noise outside and the lights in the changing room went completely out. The winter wind was blowing harshly outside and it had messed with the wires causing a power outage in certain parts of the hospital. Now Geet heard a noise of footsteps outside the bathroom and she hurried out hoping she would run into someone who could help her find light, as she was very afraid of the dark. In her hurry she unknowingly left unbuttoned several buttons of her shirt. She scrambled out of the bathroom and looked around for any sight of light. Just then she was grabbed by a muscular arm into the dark fire escape next to the bathroom. But light she did find in the bright blue-green eyes that were inches away from her own, as she stood glued against his waist, clutching his shoulder tightly as the thunder outside and his unexpected appearance left her shrieking. He whispered "Shhh..", but when she didn't listen and continued screaming, he knew just how to shut her up.

Sorry this part was kind of rushed!! And also sooo sorry for keeping you waiting so long!! Lots of unexpected happenings and unexpected guests that kept me busy! and now i will be making you guys wait again for a whole month as I wont be very active since its Ramadan!
