24- Breathless!
Piya looks at Abhay puzzled and he asks her to stay in the car and then he walks towards the man.
"Hey are you alright? You seem very disturbed" says Abhay
The man looks like he was in a state of shock, he looks at him and then he points to his car "she isn't moving, God she is dead!" he starts to sob .
Abhay holds the man's hand and drags him away from the road to his car and then looks inside the car, there was pregnant woman laying unconscious on the back seat. Abhay looks at Piya and waves to her to come, and then quickly checks the woman's pulse and then pats on her cheek, the woman moans
Abhay quickly goes back to the restless man and asks him his and his wife's names, he tells him he with a broken voice.
"Listen Rahul your wife Suman is not dead she is just unconscious, but she needs to be hospitalized as soon as possible, she is in labor, her water is broken, where is the nearest hospital?" the man seemed lost and was repeating the same thing again and again "she is dead there is no pulse"
Abhay holds him and shakes him "get a grip on your self man! you wife needs you, she is not dead look" he pats the woman's cheek calling her name, and she opens her eyes then closes them moving her head
"Oh thank God!" says Rahul and he breaks on his knees crying
Abhay shakes his head impatiently and holds his arm pulling him up "come on tell me what happened? Is this your first baby? Was she having any contractions before passing out? And where is the nearest hospital?"
"It's 40 minutes away, she was having pain ever since we left home like an hour ago, we were heading to the hospital when she started to scream so loudly and then she passed out like 5 minutes ago" the man says
Abhay looks at the woman and then he checks her pulse again, he asks Piya if she has any large scarf, she shakes her head, he asks the man he says there might be one in his wives bag
Piya was watching with anguish
"Piya try to wake the woman by sprinkling her face with water" Piya quickly does that and she opens her eyes and starts to cry as she starts to feel the labor pain Again
Piya tries to calm her down and tells her everything will be alright and the woman screams and curses her husband!
Abhay takes the large scarf and then heads to check the woman, Piya was puzzled and so was the man, he asks Abhay "what are you doing?"
"Relax I am a doctor, I want to know how much is she dilated and I want to check the fetus position"
The man looks at him stunned "you are too young to be a doctor!" says the man
"I meant, I am a medical student, we can't move your wife or drive her to the hospital before we know how is she and the baby, you go and hold your wife's hand and calm her down"
Piya looks at him stunned too, but Abhay seemed confident of what he was saying and doing!
The man nods, now having a grip on himself and moves towards his wife, he kisses her forehead as the woman screams
Abhay examines her under the scarf and says "too late, we can't move her now she is already in labor she has to deliver now, I can see the baby's crown, it will be risky to wait another 40 minutes" Piya looks at Abhay shocked swallowing
"Look in the trunk of their car for a wrap up for the baby and any other large scarves and I need hot water, clips, you small hair clips will do and a scissors" he orders Piya breaking her from her shocked state "go on move"
Piya runs towards a nearby field and she sees a man walking she asks him and explains the situation to him, the man runs and brings them a bucket of hot water and a large sheet, Rahul now holding his wife's hand and stroking her forehead gently as she screams to Piya's surprise the woman starts to curse her own husband!
Piya looks stunned at them while Abhay asks the agonized woman to breath in and out in a certain pattern, reassuring her that everything would be just fine, and tells her to push while covering her with the sheet and in few minutes a beautiful baby boy gets born crying!
"There see now you two have become parents of a beautiful baby boy"
The woman cries with joy and so does her husband and Piya too, who was standing next to Abhay giving him what he needs he looks at her tearful face with affection and asks for the small scissors that she took from her bag, to cut the chord after clipping it form both sides, and then he hands her the baby, and she wraps the tiny baby in the wrapper to keep him warm, and then she hands him to his parents, her heart filled with warmth but she was feeling nausea too.
After few minutes Abhay says talking to the woman "Suman, we are not done yet, you will have contraction again and you have to push again"
And she does, and it's all over at last and she felt a huge relief!
Piya was watching the whole procedure with a shock, it looked very painful, messy and bloody but the moment that baby was out it was worth it all then Abhay helps them get seated and he asks the man if he is ok and can drive now to the hospital, as the woman and the baby need to have proper examinations.
The man says he was fine and he thanks Abhay allot for he has saved his baby and his wife!
Piya looks at them as the man drives the car then at Abhay she was shocked a bit and a bit nauseated!
"Are you ok?" asks her Abhay and she runs to throw up in the bushes! He goes after her and holds her hair up patting on her back gently with a concerned look
When she is done she looks at him feeling awkward "feeling better now" he asks her she nods and says "I am sorry I haven't witnessed a baby's delivery before!" she says still feeling sick!
They sit in the car as he drives off he looks at her and opens the windows "try to breath deeply it will help" says he
Then he smiles "it was too much for you wasn't it?"
she nods "I have studied it in the school, seen it in the shows and movies but in the shows it doesn't look that messy or bloody"
he chuckles "they show the good side only with the woman screaming a bit" he winks
"But still it never seize to amaze me, a child's birth is a miracle on it's own! A life coming out of a life" he says
She looks at him affectionately and nods, feeling much better now "I always knew that I can never be a doctor, but Abhay you were great! You saved both of them, it was like God sent you to be their guardian angel, and you just knew what to do and the way you handled that shocked man and the mom, I am impressed"
You believe in God allot and now because of you I have started to believe in him again, he thought with a smile and then says "But I did nothing! there is noting more normal then having a baby I only guided her, the mother did the whole hard work by her own self actually"
"But still Abhay you didn't panic and you handled it so well and so fast like a true professional, were you in medical collage too or you just lied to the man?"
He chuckles "No! But I had to lie to gain his trust for his wife and baby's sake! I never was in a medical collage but it always was my dream profession, and it was because of Uncle John, a good hearted English doctor who was a good friend of my dad at the time, you know he is the one who helped deliver me too! He didn't have kids and he used to love me like his own son, I used to look up to him. Such a good and honorable man he was! Always helping others! It didn't matter to him if someone was poor or rich, I used to hang out with him allot so I have seen him treat patients and I helped him with babies deliveries few times, he always told me that I would make a great doctor, but I wanted to be just like him, so when I finished school I insisted that I join medical college, my mom being a herbal doctor encouraged me but my dad had other plans for me and was against the idea of his only heir turning into a doctor, so I ended up going to Oxford university instead" he sighs
"I see, but why didn't you join later on? Since you love the field so much?" she says
He shakes his head "because of what I am, that's why, but I read most of the medical books and I always catch up with the latest ones too"
"But Why Abhay? You finished some other degrees so why not medical sense you have so much passion for it!"
"What for Piya? It's not like I would work as a doctor! Who would trust an 18 year old? You heard the man! Beside my main reason of not going back to medical field was my concern of not controlling my self near the blood, which is a part of any doctor's daily life"
"but you coped very well today Abhay" she says puzzled
"Today it was different, maybe I could cope, I don't know Piya, but at that time like my old life, my old dreams got buried too"
She listens to him feeling so bad, and her heart aches, its not easy letting go of your dreams, she touches his hand and says "when dreams are shuttered we should try to have new dreams Abhay" she says smiling
He smiles back" that's what I am trying to do ever since Piya"
Then he says "What about you Piya Jaiswal? What are your dreams?"
She looks at him "well not much Abhay! After my mom died and growing up as an orphan, I knew I have limited options so I had limited dreams, but I always was good in my studies, so I ended up getting the scholarship in mount collage"
She giggles "compared to you my life seems so dull!" he smiles "but at least it was normal, what about your dad Piya did he die before your mom?"
She gets nervous "no! He just left us when my mom was still alive"
"Does he know about your mom?"
"I don't know Abhay, and I don't care! He left us when we needed him the most, he was selfish and all he cared for was his other family" she says getting upset now
"Other family! I see! sorry I didn't mean to upset you" he looks at her with affection his heart ached, what are you hiding Piya! He thought.
Then he changes the subject. He looks up holding his hands together like a prayer "So no more questions for me! Oh thank you God! Thank you"
She looks at him and chuckles "You wish! I am still not done with you Abhay Raichand!"
He chuckles "ok shoot" he was glad that she was smiling now
"Ok so far I know many things like you can run very fast, jump high, expert of martial arts, and you are very strong but what other powers do you have? Are you like superman? I mean can you fly or hear sounds or see from distant"
"Superman!" he chuckles" no, I don't wear red underwear over blue latex suit! And I don't get affected from the kryptonite!" he humors her
She laughs "I know that! You just get affected from moonstone and you used to wear black before!" she shows him her tongue and says "answer me!"
he smirks "unfortunately I can't fly, but I can jump very high and climb very fast and can hear and see from distant of within a mile"
Her jaw drops "one mile!"
"Abhay Raichand have you ever ear dropped my conversations with any one?" she says impatiently in a hyped voice
"What do you think?!" And he chuckles!
"Oh God! This is so very embarrassing! So you could hear everyone secrets! Don't you know that it's wrong?" She says narrowing her eyes
He smiles mischievously "don't worry I didn't hear anything bad! But hey I have to concentrate on whom I want to hear! Otherwise I would be disturbed like now! if I could hear all the things that are going on within a Mile without choosing, then I could hear even a man farting or burping or a dog barking and all the surrounding sounds and that would make me go crazy"
"EWW Abhay farting! That's disgusting" both burst laughing
Then she says" what about mind reading Abhay" she bites her lips feeling worried and nervous now
He looks at her with playful eyes "no I can't! But if you live as long as I did you can sense what people are up to from their body language, face and hand gestures!"
"But that's not 100% true!" she says
"You are right for some people! But for most of them it proves to be right, especially if there is a connection between you and them so they will be like an open book for you"
She looks at him and smiles, just like you and me Abhay she affectionately thought
"ok another question, Abhay do the vampires.. " she pauses biting her lips feeling embarrassed, she was worried that he would make fun of her!
"Do you want to say mate?" he says in a playful voice looking at her blushed face
"no! I meant get married!" she says blushing more now
He chuckles "it's the same isn't it?" He winks
She twitches her lips and narrows her eyes and says "no it's not! Mating only is for animals, marriage is different! It involves more then that! It has love, affections and being a family"
"Trust me even some animals have that too" he says raising his eye brows
"Ok! I am not talking about animals here! I am talking about vampires"
He chuckles "ok some do, just last month my mom attended a wedding of the sort, the girl was 200 year old and the boy 160 , I personally thought that was a miss match as the boy was younger" he chuckles
"Abhay I am serious!"
"So am I! That marriage did happen; I am not making things up! And there were many more too"
Then she says nervously "I see, but I am not talking about this, what I meant a marriage of vampire boy and a human girl?" and she gulps when Abhay looks at her with intensity, what are you getting at Piya! He thought and then swallows hard
She continues "or even vice versa"
He closes his eyes and then smiles and says sarcastically "why would any sane girl want to marry a monster? Or any smart boy wants to marry a blood sucking girl?"
She gulps and says "maybe they can't stay away from each other and are in love for example, answer me did it happen or not?"
Unfortunately he heard it happen and allot and long time ago he thought it could happen to him too but it went terribly wrong!
He feels uneasy now and a bit agitated "yes it did happen but the results of such unions were disastrous!"
She swallows feeling restless now" why? What happened?"
"This is what happened and happens, either the human boy or girl turned into a vampire themselves because eventually they couldn't handle getting old while their partner stayed young, and in few cases the monster partner ended up killing his/her love in outrage of anger or jealousy by sucking out the life out of them!"
"I see!" she says suddenly feeling her mouth has become very dry
"but that's not bad! I mean if he or she turned into a vampire just to stay with their loved ones, I mean if I was in their place I would have done the same"
He looks at her abruptly his heart beating fast now "are you crazy? Do you seriously want to turn into a vampire? Into a demon?!"
She looks at him fondly "for the one I love, I will do more then that" now breathing heavily
"You girls are just sentimental fools!" he says with a hyped voice
She smiles I know what's ticking you Abhay!
He brushes his hair with his hands nervously, stop it Piya your emotions are intimidating me now! He thought
"Ok next question" she says
"I think that was enough!" he says agitated trying to get a grip on his emotions and then snaps "have you forgot about the part, that he might end up snapping your neck or sucking the blood out of you in his outrage of anger?"
She looks at his worked up face I know you will never do that and then calmly says "Even human sometimes end up hurting their partners or killing them in an out burst of anger or jealousy and it happens everywhere and you know it, so I am ready to take my chances", he looks at her baffled, she bites her lips realizing what she had said and says "I meant, I will be ready to take my chances"
"You don't know what you are saying! And I thought you were smart!" he says sarcastically
"Smartness has nothing to do with it Abhay! Love just happens! And when it does, we can't control whom we fall in love with or why!"
"But God has given us brains, to think and to choose, we can't just follow our hearts without thinking about the consequences" he logically says
Look whose talking! You are the last person to say that Abhay you wanted to keep me away yet you always followed me! She thought
then she says "ok another question"
He tells her now feeling very agitated "enough!"
"What's wrong Abhay?"
He looks at her and then looks away, and goes into a deep thought, your thinking, that's what's wrong! The way you feel about me and look at me and everything about you that make me feel so weak! That's what's wrong! He thought! But it's not your fault, you are right! No one has a control on the way they feel, He sighs deeply
"Nothing! I am just a bit tired" he says, indeed he was , his emotions were haywire!
"Then you can sit back and let me drive now" she smirks, he looks at her happy face and suddenly feels relaxed
He smiles shaking his head "you need to learn driving first"
"Why don't you teach me!" she says
he ignores what she said and says "By the way, how did you manage to drive the other night without getting into an accident?"
She smiles "I don't know! But God was merciful, he saved us both, but I was driving in a funny way, the car was going in zigzag and I kept on pushing the brakes so it stopped and moved in jolts" she giggles
He looks at her amused and sighs what am I going to do with you or without you!
"Ok now can I ask you few more questions please" she says in a nice manner flashing her teeth in a big smile
He shakes his head "two more and that's it"
"Ok you said that the vampires get married what about kids? Can they have kids"
"I thought I told you I never heard of it but logically it's not possible and if they do they the baby won't grow old as you know the age of a vampire doesn't change! So who would want a blood sucking baby for eternity?"
She gulps feeling a bit nervous "Abhay I am not talking about vampires with vampires I am talking about vampires with human!"
He looks at her and then looks away!
She continues "Like if the boy was a vampire and the girl a human and you know they get married will they have kids?"
He swallows; you need to stop this Piya, he thought then says coldly "I never heard of it, beside it wouldn't make any difference, the baby still might be a monster"
"But might not! As the baby will take half of his genes from his mom side too, so he might be normal" she says
"What about the other half ha? There are so many possibilities of how the baby might end up being so why would any one be heartless to take a risk and do that to their own child?" he says with a painful voice.
She sighs deeply Feeling a pain in her chest "you love kids don't you?"
"Who doesn't! But I am still a kid my self" he says his voice filled with bitterness
She giggles trying to cheer him up "a kid who is 158 years old"
"Are you going to constantly rub that on my nose?! Be careful not to say it in front of others otherwise they will think you were insane" he smiles shaking his head
"Hmm, touchy! I was just kidding" she laughs covering her mouth
"You said you can't eat or drink! What if you needed to pretend! Would it harm you?"
"No! But everything tastes like grass, did you ever had grass in your mouth" he looks at her
"Even chocolates! oh that's bad and very sad"
He looks away and says "it was very difficult in the beginning that my mom tried to make a mix from herbs that make me feel the taste But then I got used to it, I mean having only blood"
"Oh well! there is one benefit"
He looks at her puzzled
"Your wife won't have to impress you with her cooking or have to deal with you being fussy over food" she giggles again
"You find this all funny, don't you?" He says in a serious tune
She feels guilty "I am sorry Abhay I didn't mean to sound insensitive" she says feeling bad with a frowned face, he says smiling "I am glad you feel bad, you are really something!"
"Ok, ok last question, do you use bath rooms" he chuckles "what kind of question is this? of course we take showers and groom up"
"I know that! What I meant do you.." she raises her hands moving them looking at him, and he knew what she meant but says humoring her, his eyes playful "what? I don't get it Piya" she raises her pinkie and then her index with a blush in her face and he burst laughing "God Piya you have no shame!"
"So!" says she with a blushed face
"Yes we do" and they both laugh!
And they keep on talking about different things Piya asks him about his favorite music and some other stuffs and he asks her too
He jokes with her and they both laugh and this goes on for an hour or so
After two hours "here we are!" says Abhay as he parks the car near the orphanage, Piya opens her eyes and raises her head looking around puzzled
Abhay smiles looking at her sleepy face "welcome to Mumbai"
"Did I fall asleep" she says in a sleepy voice, wiping her mouth
"No! You just had a little nap for almost two hours"
"gosh two hours, what's the time?" says Piya tidying up her hair
"It's 2 pm, you just fell asleep must be a reaction to my boring company" he smiles
"Abhay your company could be anything but boring, but I just was tired" she says in a hyped tired voice humming a bit and yawning a bit and rubbing her face, he looks at her amused
"Wow 2 pm not bad Abhay! What were you doing flying or driving!" she says
He winks and gets out of the car so does she still feeling a bit sleepy! He takes out her suits case and says "so Piya Jaiswal we come to the end of our journey" he says, she gulps and looks at him "aren't you coming inside, it's a charity fare you can buy something and help out!"
He thinks for few seconds then says" ok I will be back after a while, do you need any help with the suit case"
"no Abhay I can manage it has wheels see"
"ok then bye see you"
"you will be back right?"
He smiles and nods then hops in his car and drives off in speed
The fare was going on next to the orphanage inside a huge tent fixed near it
Piya hugs the head of sisters as she sees the other girls come around her when they see her asking her about her collage and about her life in Dehradun they were all very excited as she tells them about it and that she is now coming from Goa! One of the sisters asks her if she had her lunch and soon she has something to eat
Then she freshens up and then hands the head sister the checks that everyone has given her for the orphanage and the cash too, the sister thanks her and feels very grateful for her efforts
Piya feels thrilled being at her old home again and asks them what she can do to help they let her stand near one of the stalls selling homemade cupcakes and decorating them with whipped cream writings of whatever any one wants a teenage girl approaches her and asks for three cup cakes and asks her to write (I am sorry) Piya smiles and writes each word on each cake! She asks her" for your friend" She nods and pays her.
An hour passes, and still there was no sign of Abhay! She feels restless and keeps looking among the crowd and suddenly she sees him holding a bag and their eyes meet, she smiles a big smile as he approaches her heart starts to beat fast, girl calm down she tells her self, the girl standing next to her asks her nudging her " wow look at him, look at the writing on the shirt, indeed he is too hot to handle, I will Kill to get my hands on him" says the 16 year old girl joking
She tells the girl "shush, he can hear you"
The girl looks puzzled to her and shakes her head" chill! he is so far and in this noise how can he hear me"
but he has heard them both and he was smiling now as he comes closer to them" hi Piya where can I donate this?" he points to the bag
The girl looks stunned at Piya" you know him?"
Piya nodes" Kajol this is Abhay a friend and a colleague of mine , Abhay this is Kajol my ex roommate in orphanage and a bright student too" they both shake hands the girl mischievously says "Friend! or boy friend Piya?"
She nudges the girl with her elbow and tells her" you stay here for a while, while I take Abhay to sister Marie,"
Abhay follows her smiling " why didn't you just write a check?"
"Its better this way" he says as he didn't want to keep any tracks for his whereabouts and about his expenses to his nosy dad who would know what he was up to and whom with and the last thing that he ever wants for him to know that he was with Piya in the orphanage!
Sister Marie gets so emotional and feels very grateful as she sees the huge sum that Abhay donated and she says "God bless you both, you two are good souls, you don't know how this will help those poor kids" Piya looks affectionately at Abhay as they walk back
As they reach her stall" ok Piya I will go now, bye, see you in Dehradun"
No don't go, she thought " are you leaving now?"
"No maybe later I have a meeting with our lawyer at 6 pm I will leave after the meeting"
"So you have nothing to do till then, so why don't you make your self useful here"
"What possibly I could do?"
She looks around and then sees that the stall of the face painting had many kids waiting as there was only one girl doing the face paint she points to the stall" there you can help out! Are you good in painting?"
"No way, I don't know any thing about it"
"Come on you don't need a PHD to make some cute, funny faces on small kids go on"
"Piya!" he protests , She waves to the other girl telling her that she got her self an assistant then drags Abhay to the stall "go on, it will be fun i promise" she says and he gives in.
Piya watches Abhay as he paints little girls and boys faces he was smiling and talking so gently to them making them laugh by making funny sounds and funny faces, a little girl with curly hair reminded her of her own self sits silently as Abhay paints her face with a big butterfly pattern across her face he tries to make her talk or laugh but she keeps on just looking at him, Abhay looks at Piya, and she smiles
As he finishes off and shows the girl her face in the mirror, the 4 years old girl shakes her hand asking him to bend down as Abhay does she kisses him on his cheek, then runs to her mom giggling, Abhay get stunned and smiles touching his face, while Piya who was watching this giggles too
He looks at Piya and sees Her watching, both smile! another 3 years old boy holds his shirt asking him to come along, he looks at Piya helplessly smiling as the boy drags him from his shirt and she laughs, God how cute he looks thought Piya, he follows the boy who takes him and shows him his helium filled balloon that flew and now was touching the ceiling of the tent, seems the boy chose Abhay cause he was the tallest among the crowd
Abhay sits crouching and tells him it's not possible for him to get it, the boy shakes his head and tells him, he could cause he is tall, he tells him ok I will hold you then you can get it and then he puts the boy on his shoulders and jumps a bit and he catches it, as Abhay puts him down he runs away "aree yaar at least say thank you, anyways you're welcome!" says Abhay
Piya was smiling watching Abhay her heart filled with warmth when a boy approaches her stall and says "hi"
Piya says hi and asks him what he wants he says you, Piya says "what?"
He says "I meant 11 cupcakes, do you live here? I have never seen you before, my dad is one of the major donators of this orphanage"
"Oh you are Mr. Khana's son, how is your dad? He is such a good man"
"Oh haven't you heard? He passed away 3 months ago"
"Really I am so sorry" says Piya
"thank you, and yes he was, by the way I am Prem you are "he smiles she says Piya
"Now about those cupcakes why don't you write on each (you are so beautiful would you go out with me tonight)"
Piya starts writing, she keeps the cakes in a long box and hands it to the boy
he pays her, then gives her the box back
She looks at him puzzled he says "this was for you! So what you say?"
She looks at Abhay and notices that he was looking at them both, he looked furious although he was trying to smile to the kids, and She knew he has heard everything, so Abhay this is my chance to prove that you are jealous and that you have feelings for me she thought
She ignores Abhay's gaze and smiles to the boy patting her eyes" are you asking me out for a date?"
He grins "yes of course, so how about it? Say tonight?"
she walks closer to him throwing side glances at Abhay who was fuming now "But I Don't know you"
"That's why you have to go out with me so you would know me better" she gives him one of her cute smiles and then goes back behind the stall and then says "lemme think about it!"
Prem says smiling "I will give you 5 minutes only"
She giggle" ok call me after 5 minutes"
"I can't wait 5 minutes! I am so eager to know don't be so cruel" he smirks
Come on Abhay move, do something! She looks at Abhay but he wasn't looking at them now he was busy painting a boys face making him a Spiderman
She feels agitated and says" sure what time will you pick me up?"
"How about 7 30 we can go out dine and then do something else" she says sure and the boy gives her a big smile and walks away!
she looks at Abhay feeling disappointed
He finishes the boys face then he walks towards her he was expressionless
"Piya I will go now to the appointment and later I am leaving to Dehradun do you want to come along with me, I can pick you up at 7"
As much as she wanted to say yes but she had to go on with her plan no matter how stupid it seemed, aha you were paying attention that's why you want me go with you so I won't go out with the boy, how clever! But that won't do Abhay! She thought.
"No Abhay! I can't go with you, I will leave tomorrow because I have a date tonight with Prem Khana"
"You are not seriously thinking going out on a date with a total stranger, are you?" he says irritated
"Why not! Haven't you gone to dates? Beside I know his dad he was a good man and why don't you want me go out with him what's bugging you?"
"What's wrong with you?! You have seen him just today! And you said yes! Do you know what he would think of you? And what do you know about dates anyways? Have you been out with anyone before?" he says in hyped voice
"Well I have been out in dates before" she lies then says "I am not a kid ok, I can take care of my self beside what's really bothering you?"
He looks at her furious now "I am advising you as a friend! if you don't want to listen, fine! it's your funeral, but don't come crying, cause I will rub it in your face and will tell you I have told you so" he says that then rushes out side the tent without looking back, she stands there stunned
She hoped that he would stop her and instead he lashed at her then went off
Oh God! Should I call the boy and tell him that the date is off, or should I wait, she thought, as her heart was telling her that Abhay won't leave her and go back to Dehradun, but then what if he did? She was feeling very anguish!
Perm picks her up at 7:30 sharp Piya looks around to see any sign of Abhay but in vein.
Leave it Piya he is long gone, her mind says! But her heart had a mind of it's own
The date goes well as Prem takes her in one of those posh restaurants although a bit boring as the boy kept on talking about him self most of the time, and how he is good in this and in that!
After dinner he asks her if she cares to go to his apartment where they can have some coffee, Piya says no and makes excuses that she has to travel back home early morning, he nods although she felt he was disappointed
He drives and then stops "Why did you stop the car?" says Piya puzzled looking around her, to the empty road near the beach!
The boy looks at her weirdly smiling and checking her out looking down to her chest, and she knew he was up to no good!
"Please take me back to the orphanage" she says looking outside the car, where are you Abhay? Her mind was telling her that he was gone! yet her heart was so sure that he will pop in any time soon.
"It's too early, and since you refused to go to my apartment, so I thought maybe we enjoy our selves here near the beach" and he leans towards her trying to kiss her, she backs off, he says" come on now its just a kiss" and she slaps him hard!
"You biatch!" he yells as he grabs her arms pulling her towards him
She screams "let me go" and wiggles and tries to open the car door, but it was locked and then suddenly the driver's side window get smashed and a hand holds the boy from his neck pulling him away from her and out side of the car through the smashed window!
"You keep your filthy hands off of her you pig" Growls Abhay as he throws away the boy and he flies like he weighs nothing at all and hits the sand in a thud! He crawls as he sees Abhay walking towards him and then he stands up in terror and flees along the beach without looking back!
Abhay with fuming anger looks now at Piya who was shivering and looking at him, he opens the cars door and grabs her arm forcefully pulling her in one jolt
"What's wrong with you?! Why did you go out with this piece of crap? I warned you! But no you have to do what's in your mind! What was the need for all this ha! Do you know what could he has done to you if I wasn't around?" she looks at him still shaken, he pushes her arm away.
"Damn it Piya! I can't baby sit you all the time! This has to stop! It had become a real pain!"
He leaves her and walks towards the beach breathing heavily, she looks at him still shaking, tears rolling down her cheeks and she slowly walks towards him, he was standing facing the sea, the sound of the waves was disturbed by the sound of their heavy breath and the roadside lamps was casting faded light on them both.
She stands in front of him facing him
"Why Abhay?" she says in a trembling broken voice
"Why what Piya?" he says impatiently his voice full of anger and pain!
She swallows "why didn't you go to Dehradun? I thought you said you were leaving! Why did you stay Abhay? Why do you care so much about me that you stayed? Why do you always follow me around just to make sure I was ok?
Why do I cause you so much pain?"
"Stop it Piya! I told you! We are friends now and I can't help it! It's my nature I always come to rescue whenever I see someone in need"
"Really! Am I only a friend?! Am I only someone in need? Then tell me, why every time you see any boy near me you become jealous! why were you jealous today when you saw him talking with me and when he asked me out? And why were you so angry when he tried to touch me! Why Abhay? If today I am in this stupid situation its all because of you! I agreed to go out with him because of you!"
"What the hell are you saying Piya how could you pin your reckless behavior on me?!"
"I did this just to make you jealous, to prove that you care, Look at me Abhay, and tell me that you don't feel anything for me! Tell me that you don't love me!"
She comes closer to hug him but he moves away and grabs her arms forcefully and without looking at her he says "no I am not jealous! And I don't love you! Do you understand!"
"Why don't you look at me and say it? Damn it Abhay!" her voice was choking
He looks at her swallowing hard and says "I just don't, I am
Not the type who believes in love period!"
She puts her shaking fingers on his lips "don't Abhay! No more lies, why are you running from me? Shutting your own feelings? What are you afraid of?"
"How could you ask me this when you know what I am! I can't give you what you want and I can't forgive my self if anything bad happens to you because of me or because of what I am!" he says helplessly with so much pain and frustration in his voice
"I am safe as long as I am with you Abhay! And how do you know what I want? Tell me one thing that I can't have! Because I know all I want is you, and you alone"
He swallows hard "You don't know what you're saying! What about a family Piya? a chance to have kids and grow old with them" he says in pain
She gulps "You are my family, and who knows if I live long enough to have kids or become old! No one knows how long one lives! But what's worth of my life when I can't be with you! I will give my whole life just to be with you"
He was listening to her but couldn't believe what he was hearing, his heart beat becoming faster each minute, "Stop it Piya! just stop it"
She walks closer to him and he looks away, she walks closer again and she touches his face and turns it, so it faces hers, he closes his eyes in pain
"I won't stop Abhay, and you know why! Because I am deeply and madly in love with you", and he whispers "Piya!"
Then she stands up on her tip toes shaking and breathing heavily, she feels butterflies were roaming in her guts. She holds his neck and bends it down a bit so his mouth becomes at hers level, and then she presses her lips against his moving them shyly and gently kissing him.
He opens his eyes taken back by what she was doing and he closes them again as he embraces her in his arms pulling her up towards him, crushing her against his chest and kissing her passionately.
His lips savors hers urgently and impatiently teasing hers, and she trembles as she cling to his neck her hands dig into his hair stroking his scalp gently, he pulls her closer, much closer as his mouth explores her tender warm mouth, his hands stroking her and touching her back, he breaks off the kiss gently parting his lips away from hers, breathing heavily and whispers in her ear" God! I love you Piya, I love you so much Piya" and she becomes more breathless as she whispers his name "Abhay"
he kisses her ear softly and then her cheek and then her parted lips gently now brushing his wet lips against hers before locking them again, this time with more intensity mesmerizing her senses.
She felt very weak and she was shivering and so was he, both were humming and breathing heavily their heart beat were beating like crazy as they were lost in each others arms, experiencing the overwhelming excitement that only the kiss of true love can grant
The ecstasy of their passionate kiss was shaking their whole beings, filling them with so much joy and pleasure, and suddenly Abhay breaks off the kiss in a jolt trying to gain his self control, but he kept on holding her as she was too weak to stand on her own, he leans his head against hers their breath collate as both were breathing heavily, he then parts him self away still holding her waist, looking down to her closed eyes and parted swollen lips, she was breathing heavily too and she whispers his name "Abhay"
Then she opens her eyes and looks up to him they gaze each other with so much passion and love! Their faces were flushed, she smiles and closes her eyes again standing on her feet now and she wraps her arms around his waist, resting her head on his chest, listening to his fast heart beat, inhaling his smell, he embraces her now gently! And kisses her on top of her head
"What's going on in here?" a harsh voice breaks their private moment
They both open their eyes and turn to see a policeman and he approaches them. Piya feels embarrassed as she raises her head trying to pull away from Abhay but he didn't let her go
"What's the problem officer?" says Abhay in serious tune, still holding her, his eyes playful looking down at Piya mischievously, she looks up at him with a blushed face, she whispers "Abhay let go of me"
He whispers back "pyar kya tu darna kya" and winks then looks back to the policeman
"hmm! larki Kai Saat ishq mar rahi hu in a public place and you are asking me what's the problem?" says the policeman irritated
"Yeh Larki mere patni hai! She is my wife! why would it bother you if I kiss my wife or hug her! don't you watch movies then why don't you imprison all those actors who do much more with some other guys girl friends and wives" he says with confidence
Piya likes what he said and she tries to stop her self from giggling
The police man looks puzzled at him scratching his head and says angrily "batameezi kartay hu! I will lock both of you!"
Abhay looks at Piya and says his eyes playful "hold on" and he runs so fast that to the puzzled officer, they looked like they have both just disappeared, like they have vanished in thin air!
The poor man looks around him scared and then he runs away thinking he saw two ghosts!
Abhay and Piya watch him as he runs so scared and then they burst laughing looking at each other, their hearts filled with so much joy and their faces glowing with warmth of their new found love!
