Shilpa Sharma was a young girl in her mid-twenties. She came from a rich family and grew up with her twin brother Mayank Sharma. As soon as they finished their schooling their parents wanted to relocate to London but the twins loved India and wanted to stay. Mayank and Shilpa convinced their parents to relocate without them and decided to stay at their mansion in Mumbai . Since then it had been just the two of them.
Shilpa pulled her car unto the parking lot of a huge building. The board on the building read 'Good Life Trauma Centre'. Shilpa's hands began to sweat. It always did when she got nervous. Usually, Mayank is always with her to calm her down and then it was Armaan but today she was all by herself.. It had been five years since she had seen either of them. She wondered every second of her life as to where they are, what they are doing, and most importantly how she was going to find them. She had travelled nearly the entire world in search of them and today she was at the most reputed trauma centre of Kolkata.
"Hey Shilpa looks like you reached way earlier than I expected. No one has ever beat me, Siddhant Modi at being quick but it looks like you did." Sid said smiling.
Sid was Shilpa's friend. He is an investigator from the CBI. Shilpa believed that they was something really fishy behind mayank's,Armaan's and Nupur's disappearance so she got help from Sid.
"Well, it happens in situations like these." Shilpa said still nervous.
"Come on Shilpa. I need you to give me a smile. Today must be the most happiest day since five years." Sid said.
"It is''.and also the most nervous'''so are you sure this is the place?" Shilpa asked.
"I know that it is hard to accept but''.yes this is the place." Sid said. " I came here to meet a friend of mine, Riddhima. I then heard about one of her patients who had been here since five years. He was found in a bad state, physically and mentally. I was only allowed to see him from far. From the photographs that you showed me he seems to your brother Mayank."
Shilpa was immensely happy. She didn't know what to say and gave Sid a bid teddy bear hug.
He hugged her back. Sid was happy that Shilpa's was smiling genuinely. He had never seen Shilpa so happy since he met her and today he was happy that he was helping Shilpa get back her life.
"Thank you so much'.for everything." Shilpa said.
"well that's what friends are for and it is my job" Sid said. He didn't want to see Shilpa's reaction when she meets Mayank 'cause he didn't know how she'll react so he excused himself and Shilpa mentally prepared herself even for the worst.
Shilpa went up to Riddhima's cabin.
"Yes, may I help you?" Riddhima asked.
"I'm Shilpa Sharma'."Shilpa said.
"Oh yes Sid told me about you'..your brother Mayank is a patient here. He was found bleeding badly and unconscious. As soon as he was found, he was admitted in 'Good Life Hospital'. When Mayank came back to conscience he didn't seem to be responding well so he was sent here. For the past five years he is sunder treatment. A month ago we decided to see how he would interact with the others and tried to show him around the building but he seemed to be stuck in his room'''''nurse, please take Ms.Shilpa to Mayank." Riddhima said.
The nurse lead Shilpa to a room. She realized that it was the same room she had been having nightmares about since five years. She saw 'Mayank Nupur Armaan Shilpa' written all over the walls. In a far corner she saw a shadow. She knew that it was Mayank. He was neither scribbling on the wall and neither was he murmuring the name. he was just looking at the names on the walls as if they weren't just names but the four of them. Shilpa went up to Mayank and placed her hand on his shoulder. The nurse had warned her not to do this as Mayank might get violent but she didn't care. Mayank was her brother after all.
"Mayank" Shilpa said.
The next moment a number of things happened simultaneously. Mayank pinned Shilpa against the wall. His grip was tight that it hurt her. Mayank screamed with rage and Shilpa closed her eyes in fright. After a few seconds she felt Mayank's grip loosen. Shilpa opened her eyes and saw that Mayank had tears in her eyes. His rage had vanished. There was a long pause as both of them tried to digest the reality which was in front of them.
"Shilpa" Mayank said at last.
And then they hugged each other tight. Never had Mayank and Shilpa been so far away from each other and never so long.
"Mayank" Riddhima said interrupting the emotional reunion of the twins.
"I have told you that you shouldn't stay here anymore. There are other people outside. Go on and mingle with them." Riddhima said.
" I don't want to. I know that I cant fit in here." Mayank said.
" they wont. Now come outside." the nurse insisted.
" I SAID I DON'T WANT TO" Mayank yelled.
Riddhima tried her best to show that she was not frightened though she was while the nurse her fear clearly on her face. Shilpa on the other hand just smiled. She held out her hand towards him to take it and go out with her.
"Come on Mayank. Don't be scared." she said.
Mayank looked at her hand and then at her.
It was Mayank's and Shilpa's sixth birthday and their parents took them to an amusement park with all their friends. All the kids were excited on seeing the giant wheel and wanted to go on it. Everyone except Mayank.. His friends tried to persuade him.
"Mayank, let's go please. If you don't come then none of us can go." one of their friends told.
" I don't want to. I have not gone on a giant wheel before. The last time I was on something high I fell down" Mayank said.
"just one time. You wont fall. It will be fun." another friend said.
"I SAID I DON'T WANT TO" Mayank yelled.
Shilpa came up to him.
"come on Mayank. Don't be scared." she said and held out her hand.
Mayank hesitated but then took her hand. He trusted his sister. She lead him to the giant wheel and soon he realized that he was not scared of it after all.
Riddhima and the nurse were anxious as Mayank had never interacted well with anybody. To their surprise Mayank took Shilpa's hand and she lead him to where the other patients were. As Mayank was observing the people around him, Shilpa let go of his hand. He had hardly seen or talked to anybody in these five years. The nurse accompanied him and Shilpa watched him go. Just then she noticed that he was limping and that he had a deep cut on his hand.
" How did he get hurt?" Shilpa asked Riddhima.
"Mayank had a visitor one week back but as soon as Mayank saw the person he got violent and tried to hurt the guy. In the end he ended up hurting himself. That is why we were anxious when you tried to talk Mayank into coming out here" Riddhima explained."He still visits Mayank but always watches from far"
"Who is this visitor?", Shilpa asked.
Just then a nurse came up to them.
"He has come", the nurse said.
Shilpa and Riddhima followed the nurse. Riddhima stopped outside the cabin.
"I think you should talk to him. I'll be back.", Riddhima said and left.
Shilpa took a deep breathe
"Is it Armaan?", she thought.
She entered the room and the next thing she knows she was standing face to face with the last person she wanted to meet, Ranvijay Kundra.
Ranvijay hadn't changed since the last time Shilpa saw him but Shilpa had changed. She had lost the smile she gave Ranvijay whenever they saw each other. She lost all the happiness in her life. She had lost her brother, her love and her best friend and most of all she had lost all the trust that she had in Ranvijay.
"Shilpa I -", Ranvijay said.
"Don't you dare speak to me. I don't see your face ever again. I hate you." Shilpa interrupted.
"Shilpa you have misunderstood everything", Ranvijay said.
" I have understood what is to be understood. Now leave Ranvijay and don't try to visit Mayank again.", Shilpa said with anger and hatred in her eyes.
"Mayank is my best friend", Ranvijay said.
" Mayank was your best friend. Not anymore. You don't deserve a friend like Mayank. He trusted you Ranvijay. I don't know why but he did. Mayank always helped you when you needed it. He always thought about you. He was a true best friend and in return you betrayed him." , Shilpa shouted and tears started rolling down her cheeks.
" GET OUT NOW", she yelled.
Ranvijay didn't try to defend and walked out of that place.
From that day on Ranvijay stopped visiting. He didn't want to face Shilpa. Not because she would yelled at him and accuse him, because she would cry. He couldn't bare to see Shilpa in pain cause that caused him pain.
A week later Mayank was discharged from the trauma centre. Riddhima explained to Shilpa that Mayank will require more time to get over the tragedy but he will be bale to move on in the long run.
" That wont be necessary cause we'll find them. I know that they are somewhere in this world.", Shilpa thought.
It had been a couple of weeks after Mayank's discharge. Shilpa tried to get to know about the whereabouts of Nupur and Armaan but in vain. At times she lost confidence but she still stayed strong.
" I know that you are out there Nupur and once I find you we can find Armaan together." , Shilpa thought.
