Abhishek turns towards Subhankar basu and Pranab Ganguly, both of whom are smiling. Abhishek is in complete darkness about what exactly is going on. Now Subhankar and Pranab finally decide to unveil the real surprise of the day.
Subhankar: "Kya kehte ho pranab? Announcement kar de?"
Pranab: "Neki aur puch puch? Subh kaam mein der nehi karni chahiye."
Subhankar (putting one arm in his friend's shoulder): "Attention everyone. Aaj hum ek bahut bari announcement karne ja rahe hain. Jaise ki aap sab jante hain main aur Pranab bachpan se dost hain, bahut hi acche aur pakke dost. Jindagi ki har rah mein hum dono ne ek dusre ka saath diya hain aur aage bhi denge."
Pranab: "Toh aaj humne faisla liya hain ke apne is gehre dosti ko officially rishtey mein kyun na badal diya jaye. Isliye aaj hum apne is dosti ke rishtey ko sambandhiyon ke rishtey mein badalne ja rahe hain. Hum aaj ke is subh din mein Subhankar ke bare bete Abhishek aur meri bari beti Arpita ki engagement ki announcement karte hain."
And the whole hall is echoed with the sounds of claps.
Abhishek is utterly surprised with the suddenness of this announcement. He turns towards his brother and finds him smiling naughtily looking at him. As he looks towards him he grins even broadly and shrugs. Gradually as the feeling of amazement subsides Abhishek experiences a feeling of extreme happiness. Today his love is going to be officially recognised to be his would be wife. He glances at Arpita and as their gaze meet both of them blush and they instantly look away from each other but even in that eyelock for a splitsecond they both realize the happiness that the other is feeling.
The guests start congratulating the couple and before they have even finished arrives the priest who has been performing rituals of the Ganguly since ages.
Aparna is the first person to see him and she goes to Subhankar and puts her palm on his shoulder. Subhankar, who has been engaged in conversation with Pranab and some of his business associates, turns to her with an inquisitive look.
Aparna(pointing to the priest): " Panditji aa gaye."
Subhankar ( turning his gaze to that direction): "Arey Panditji aa gaye!"
He calls Pranab and asks him to come with him to welcome the priest and also asks Aparna to bring Rita alongwith her.
All the 4 parents welcome the priest and ask him to bless their children.
Now it is time for "Aashirwad" ceremony to begin. "Aashirwad" ceremony is the engagement ceremony in bengali culture. Here would be bride and bridegroom do not exchange rings. Instead all the elders bless the bride.
Mouli, Aparna and rita take Arpita alongwith them and make her sit on the seat for the would be bride so that the "Aashirwad" ceremony can begin.
One by one Subhankar, Arpita, Pranab and Rita and all the other relatives bless Arpita.
As the ritual is going on, Abhishek is standing there with a heart full of happiness and a broad grin on his face.
Someone whispers in his ear: "Aise ghurte rahe na toh baudi baithe baithe waxene doll ki tarah pighal jayengi. Fir ikattha karte rehna wax aur banate rehna ishq ki candle kyunki candle light dinner toh nehi hain meri bechari baudi ki naseeb mein, aap itni boring jo hain."
Abhishek: "Adi abhi thappar khayega tu."
Adi: "Arey wah itna accha surprise diya uske badle mein thappar? Ruko abhi batata hu baudi ko. Fir toh apki khair nehi."
As he is about to walk away Abhishek grabs his arm as he knows very well that if he really will complain to Arpita then He will get a pretty hard scolding from Arpita who will as usual take Adi's side.
In an attempt to pacify his younger brother he says: "Arey nehi nehi mere bhai, tu naaraz kyun hota hain? Main toh sirf majak kar raha tha."
Adi laughs: Accha majak kar rahe the? Nikal gaya na saara gussa baudi ke naam se hi. Bas unko ghar aa jane do fir aayega asli maja."
Abhi mutters under his breadth: "Haan fir toh meri shaamat aayegi aur is qyamat (Adi) ko koi nehi rok payega."
Adi (raising his eyebrows): " kya kaha aapne?"
Abhi: "kaun main? Nehi toh kuch nehi. (Adi narrows his eyes) Sach mein kuch nehi kaha."
Adi: "Accha woh sab choriye aur yeh bataiye ki mera surprise kaisa laga?"
Abhi smiles: "Sachme yeh sirf tu hi kar sakta hain. Kisiko pal mein itni khushi de jaana sirf tere hi bas mein hain."
Adi salutes him in army style: "Thank u sir. Always at your service sir."
Abhi smiles: "tu kabhie nehi sudhrega."
Adi: "pata hain. Aur mujhe sudharna hain bhi nehi."
Till now the "Aashirwad" ceremony has finished.
The date of marriage has been fixed after one month from the date of "Aashirwad". All are extremely happy and congratulate the young couple.
Abhishek turns 2 call Adi but to his utter surprise finds him nowhere and even mouli is also absent. Even before Abhishek can wonder where his mischievous younger brother has gone, the attention of him and everybody else has been attracted by Adi's voice.
Adi, alongwith Mouli, is standing in the very centre of the colossal hall.
Adi: "Attenion, attention, attention. Jabki saare boring rituals khatam ho gaye aur ab mere dada aur baudi officially fiancees hain, toh kyun na kuch dhamaal ho jaye. So let's rock the party."
Saying this he clicks his fingers and all of a sudden all lights are gone and the hall immerses in the depth darkness.
As all are wondering what is going on the lights are again switched on but Adi is not there in the centre of the hall. Everyone's eyes start searching for him and in their search for him while Arpita moves to her right, Abhishek moves forth and though unconsciously, they come to a halt, standing 2gether, side by side.
Just at the moment, someone puts hands in both of their shoulders. They are shocked with the suddenness of the act and as they turn it is none else than the naughtiest yet handsomest young lad, Aditya Basu.
Adi grins and leaving them moves to a distance of one or 2 feet from them where Mouli is standing and both join their hands:
Adi:
Wah wah ramji jori kya banayi

Both Adi and mouli go to their parents and pull them alongwith them for dance.
As they insist them to dance constantly, they cant help it. Holding each other's hands even the parents start dancing surrounding the couple.
Adi (going near his brother):
Mera bhaiya jo chup baithe hain
Dekho bhavi yeh kaise aithe hain
Waise bare hi bhale hain
Mana thore manchale hain
Par aapke siwa kahin bina fisle hain
Abhishek raises his hand to reach Adi's ear but Adi swiftly dodges and moves away from him, grinning broadly.
Mouli, on the other hand, goes to her sister and putting hands over her shoulders turns Arpita 2 face her:

Adi comes to Arpita and takes her hands in his:

Dil Se Dil Ki Sagaai
And then all the four hold hands 2gether and start dancing. Soon their parents join them and all eight of them start dancing holding each others hands in a merry-go-round way.
The engagement party ends with a bang. It leaves an atmosphere of extreme happiness, especially for the young couple.
(Few days later)
(eight o' clock in the morning)
(Adi's room, messy as usual)
Pushing the door open, enters Mouli. Adi is fast asleep, placing his head over a small pile of books and clutching his pillow tightly. It seems he had been studying at night and fall asleep meanwhile without being conscious of it.
Mouli: "ufff yeh larka bhi na ab tak so raha hain. I'm damn sure ki isko yaad bhi nehi hoga ke aaj kya hain."
Going near his bed, she sits down beside him and pats on his stretched out arm and calls out his name but in a low voice. However as expected there is no response. She repeats it again and now Adi stirs a little but still doesn't open his eyes. Now Mouli has had enough of it. She shakes him really hard and calls out in a louder voice.
Adi, without even bothering to open his eyes and watch out for the person, starts rubbing his eyes in as cute a manner as a child and mumbles: "Aur thori der sone do na mom…..bas 5 min…..itni subah kyun jagah rahi ho.."
Even Mouli cant help smiling. It seems for a moment she is overpowered by her emotions. She puts her palm in his hair and runs her fingers through his hair affectionately helping him to snooze more peacefully. But soon she controls herself and withdraws her hand back. Now she shakes him even more hard.
Mouli: "oye main tujhe kakima dikh rahi hu kya? Main kakima nehi hu aur agar tu nehi utha na toh main tujhe pyar se uthane bhi nehi wali hu. Seedha garam pani lake sar pe dal dungi. Fir dekhti hu kumbhkaran kaise nehi uthta."
Adi, who is sleeping facing the wall at the other side, now turns to face her and slowly opens his eyes and smiles.
Adi: "Haan haan pata hain. Meri mom ki aawaz itni sarhi hui thori hi na hain. Wo toh kitni meethi hain. Aisi aawaz toh sirf meri churail ki hi ho sakti hain."
Mouli: "Huh! Tu ne mujhe churail kaha? Teri toh…." (She pinches him hard)
Adi: "Ouch! Arey yaar majak kar raha tha."
Mouli is about to say something but just then Adi's cell rings. His cell is lying on the bedside table.
Adi: "Mouli zara phone toh pass karna."
Mouli takes the phone and as she glances on the screen her expression changes. The name that is displayed on the screen is Shaina. Mouli's expression hardens.
Giving the phone 2 Adi she says in quite a rough tone: "Yeh le subah hua nehi ki teri gfs ke calls aana suru bhi ho gaya."
Adi: "Haan toh tujhe kya problem hain?"
Mouli (in a rude tone): "Mujhe kyun hone lagi koi problem? Tujhe jo karna hain kar na, kisne mana kiya hain. Waise bhi agar koi mana karega toh tu sunega thori hi na. Jo mann mein aaye wo kar." (And she gets up from the bed and stride out of the room, banging the door after her.)
Adi (now totally taken aback at this unexpected turn of things and even more unexpected reaction of Mouli): "Ab isko kya ho gaya? Maine aisa kya kar diya jo yeh itna bharak gayi?"
As he is wondering exactly where he has gone wrong, his phone rings yet again but this time it is not Shaina but rther mehul's name is displayed on the screen. Wondering why Mehul is calling him at this time in the morning, Adi answers the call.
Adi: "Haan bol."
Mehul: "toh tu aaj shaam ko aa raha hain ya subah bhi aayega?"
Adi (confused): "Woh toh tu jab kahega main aa jaunga, par yeh toh bata ki jaana kaha hain."
Now its Mehul's turn to be surprised: "Jaana kaha hain matlab? Oh no ab yeh mat kehna ki tu fir se bhool gaya."
Adi: "Main tab se yehi keh raha hu. Apni bakwas tu apne paas rakh aur agar main kuch bhool gaya hu toh mujhe yaad dila."
Mehul: "Kasam se yaar tu bhi na ajeeb bhulakkar hain. Arey aaj humara college khatam hone wala hain, toh aaj prom night hain. Ab kuch yaad aaya MR. Bhulakkar?"
Adi (bits his tongue): "Arey yaar main toh sach mein bhool hi gaya tha. Main sach mein ekdum idiot hu, gadha hu."
Mehul (laughs): "Saath mein ek aur adjective add kar le - bewakoof."
Adi: "Obe oye ek punch lagaunga na saare daant torke haath mein de dunga."
Mehul: "Arey wah yeh accha hain. Ek toh maine tujhe yaad dilaya aur jo tujhe kehna chahiye wo kehne ke wajah tu mere daant torne pe tula hua hain."
Adi (smiles): "Accha aur mujhe kya kehna chahiye tha tujhe?"
Mehul: "Thanx"
Adi (grinning): "Oh common yaar, u r always welcome."
Mehul (totally surprised): "huh???"
Adi: "Chal ab main phone rakhta hu aur haan dobara thanx mat kehna. Already ekbaar bol chuka hain aur maine accept bhi kar li hain. Bye cya."
And smiling to himself he cuts the phone.
Now he gets up from his bed and hurries to the washroom and within few mins comes out fully dressed in a black t-shirt and light blue jeans.
Standing in front of the mirror he sprays perfume and takes his brush 2 comb his messy hair. While combing his messy hair he again wonders: "Pata nehi aaj Mouli ko kya ho gaya? Kuch dino se dekh raha hu kafi ajeeb se behave kar rahi hain."
Then making a mental note to ask her about it, he throws the comb to his bed and pushing the door open dissapears behind it.
When he enters the dining hall, mouli is already there, helping Aparna in serving the breakfast while the maids are busy making everything ready. Abhishek and Subhankar are already in the mid-way with their breakfast.
Aparna: "Aa gaya! Chal ab naasta karne baith ja. Aur haan koi bahana nehi sunne wali main. Naasta pura khatam karna hoga."
Adi: "Your wish is my command, your highness!"
Aparna (giggles): "chal hat badmash! Baith ja."
Adi sits in his usual place. Aparna and Mouli now serves him breakfast and they 2 sit down. Mouli sits beside Adi. Adi has been waiting for this moment. He elbows mouli and when she turns 2 him with an inquisitive look on her face, he asks: "Who kya tha?"
Mouli: "Kya?"
Adi: "Tu itna bharak kyun gayi thi? Maine aisa kya keh diya jo tu bharak gayi?"
Mouli (blushing a little): "Uh…woh….kuch nehi. Mera mood thora off tha na isliye tujhpar bharas nikal diya. Sorry."
Adi: "Woh toh thik hain par mujhe aisa kyun lag raha hain ki tu mujhse kuch chupa rahi hain."
Mouli (turning away from him): " Tu bhi na Adi kuch bhi sochta hain. Main kyun tujhse kuch chupane lagi?"
Adi (in his mind): "Yeh Mouli kya chupa rahi hain mujhse? Isko aisa toh pehle kabhi nehi dekha."
Adi's chain of thoughts is broken by Subhankar's voice: "Adi, Mouli aaj tum dono ka college ka aakhri din hain na?"
Adi : "Ji dad. Aaj humara last day hain. Isliye aaj college mein prom night bhi hain. Humein shaam ko jaana hain prom night mein aur isliye abhi dress aur baaki accessories ki shopping karne jaana hain."
Abhishek: "Wow great. Toh jaldi se jao aur ekdum best dress lena tum dono apne liye."
Adi: "Yess boss."
Then Adi gets up and turns 2 Mouli: "Tera ho gaya?"
Mouli, who has already finished her breakfast, gets up immediately: "Haan ho gaya, chal nikalte hain."
Adi: "Chal."
And bidding goodbye 2 Subhankar, Aparna and Abhishek, both walk out of the hall.
( 6 pm in the evening)
(Adi's room)
Adi is getting ready in his room. He is dressed in a white highneck t-shirt and black blazer and black jeans. He is standing in front of his mirror, checking whether he needs anything else but it doesnot seem so. He runs down his fingers through his messy hair which goes even more messy but he really luks smart and handsome that way.
As Adi is about 2 retreat back from the mirror, his cell rings. He picks it up and glances on the screen which is displaying Raja's name. He answers the call.
Adi: "Kya baat hain mere khamosh majnu? Taiyar ho gaya? Jise call karna chahiye usko toh tu call karta nehi hain bas mera hi dimaag khata rehta hain."
Raja (embarassed a little): "Adi tujhe kya pata kitna mushkil hota hain apne dil ka haal usse kehna jiske liye dil dharakta hain."
Adi (grinning): "Arey aisa kya mushkil hota hain? Teen labz hi toh hain. Ja aur bol daal."
Raja: "Haan kehna bahut aasan hain par karna utna hi mushkil. Jaha ikraar ki puri ummeed ho wahin dil kehne se darta hain aur yahan toh mujhe pata bhi nehi hain ki woh kya sochti hain mere baare mein. Sirf dost ya …."
Adi: "O bhai agar aise hi chalta raha na toh kahin is pehle aap pehle aap ke chakkar mein gari na nikal jaye. Ab meri baat dhyan se sun – ya toh abhi ya fir kabhie nehi. Aaj college ka aakhri din hain. Jo teen saal mein na kar paya tujhe woh aaj arna hi hoga agar tu usko apni life mein chahta hain toh."
Raja: "lekin main karu kya?"
Adi: " Aaj prom night mein woh bhi aa rahi hain toh aaj tujhe usse apne pyar ka izhaar karna hi hain. Dekh mere bhai aaj tujhe yeh karna hi hoga. Kamsekam tujhe yeh afsos toh nehi rahega ki woh tere saamne thi, mauka bhi tere paas tha, bas agar thora sa himmat kar leta toh shayad woh teri ban chuki hoti."
Raja: "Tu shayad sahi keh raha hain Adi. Aaj main usse keh hi dunga. Chahe anjaam kuch bhi ho."
Adi: "Shayad nehi main humesha sahi hi bolta hu. All the best."
And he cuts the call. Now glancing at his watch he jumps.
Adi: "oh no saare cheh toh yahin baj gaya. Abhi nikalna hoga. Pata nehi yeh Mouli kaha reh gayi. Jab bhi jaldi karna hota hain yeh larki humesha late ho jaati hain."
He picks up the phone and as he is about 2 call her, pushing the door open she enters and seeing her he is impressed. She is lukng really nice in her black dress.
Mouli: "Kaisi lag rahi hu main?"
Adi: "Not bad, not bad."
Mouli: "Sirf not bad."
Adi: "Thik hain acchi lag rahi hain."
Mouli: "Acchi!"
Adi: "Accha baba bahut acchi lag rahi hain, par ab chal bhi. Agar main yaha khara rehke teri tarif karta reh gaya na toh party khatam bhi ho jayegi."
Mouli: "Haan toh chal na, maine kab mana kiya hain."
Adi smiles and then both leaves.
