I have lost my feel and touch in my updates this time after watching such sad episodes last week...hope things get better soon.
Forever – Part 6
Maan looked at the door that opened suddenly and tried to hide the plate on the table. Before he could react he saw Geet entering to the house, being upset at something. What if she sees me like this, he wondered and bent down as if he was going to pick something from the floor. 'I don't know if I have a brain inside my head' Geet murmured to herself heading towards the room to pick her handbag. But she was taken back with the sound of something from the kitchen, so she hurried to the kitchen area and saw Maan leaning against the chair there. 'You came home so early' he asked trying to distract her. 'Do you need any help? I mean with cleaning' she asked him politely without answering his question. He looked at the floor and saw it has been messed up with the food in his plate. 'Maan, you are caught' he felt his heart mocking at his defeat. 'Did you see it?' He asked her to make sure whether he was caught by her or not. She nodded and approach to him, but he stopped him saying that he could do it by himself. Geet turned to leave but stopped when she saw a piece of food on his lips, she smiled at herself thinking that finally he has eaten the food she cooked. 'Did you get a job?' Maan's question stopped her again when she started to walk away; she shook her head to answer him. 'If you want I can help' he offered her help, but she refused to accept saying that she would do on her own. 'I don't intend to help you, but I have to make sure that you pay rent to me' his words broke her already wounded heart. He was a total mystery to her, most of the times being rude and harsh at her and sometimes being like a good and caring friend.
It was in the early evening finally Geet has got a job of an art teacher from a local school. Not having any qualifications with her, made her salary less than the actual salary of the teachers there. As she has no choice she agreed to work at there until she gets a better job for herself. The job was more of a challenge to her even though she was good at drawing and art works. The children there gave her headaches in addition to what Maan gives to her. She found it difficult but still worked hard for three months and paid almost her salary as rent in those three months, when Maan made her condition worse on one day.
Maan threw out all her sheets that she kept out in the living room to avoid them getting stuck to each other. She broke into anger and crying at the same after knowing it and for the very first time spoke aloud at him 'what do you think of yourself by doing this? I didn't ask you to accommodate me with you in the very first place, but as you told me that I can stay here by paying rent to you I stayed here. And for the past three months I paid you rent with my whole salary and today what you did to me has already made me to lose my job'. Her words shocked Maan as he did not know that she paid her whole salary to him as rent, but decided not to tell her that he has kept it in her bag as she might need it. He approached closer to her and touched her shoulder, but she pushed his hand away and turned to the other side saying that he did not have any right to touch her. 'I know that I have no right to touch her, but please don't cry. I didn't know that those papers were needed so I threw those while cleaning because I don't like things here and there' he put a hand on her shoulder gain. She reacted the same but he held her tight with his hand and turned her to face him 'I'm hiring you from now, you can work as my secretary, you have to report at 8.am. starting from the next morning' he walked away leaving her alone.
Maan took out the money out of her bag and put them into an envelope and kept it under her pillow while she was in the kitchen. Secretly he came out and started working with his upcoming case. He kept on seeking glances at her every now and then sensing there was something wrong about her and he has to find it out in some way. But how, he wondered. He nodded his head as he knew exactly what he has to do, to bring out the hidden mysteries within her.
