Part Two
Mayank stared at the girl in his arms, smirking. So Miss Popularity was the girl his parents had chosen for him. Nupur Bhushan... but he knew that his parents always took the right decisions for him. He decided that he would give this relationship a chance before taking a final decision.
"Leave me!" Nupur exclaimed angrily, "Meri kamar se apna haath nikalo! Pervert!
Mayank left her and she straighter and wore her dupatta properly around her neck. "Mujhe tumhe pakadne ka koi interest nahi hai," he retorted.
"Bui, Bauji," Nupur said angrily, glaring at Mayank Sharma, "Mujhe ye rishta manzoor NAHI hai. Aap is ladke se keh sakte hain ki woh yahan se chala jaye."
"Wah, wah, wah," Mayank said, rolling his eyes, "Tumhe girne se bachaya, toh rishta manzoor nahi. Agar girne diya hota, toh bhi tum mana hi karne wali thi!"
"So?" Nupur exclaimed, her hands on her hips, "Mujhe kisi loser Mumbaian se shaadi nahi karni hai. Good bye and GOOD RIDDANCE!"
"Nupur!" Bauji exclaimed angrily, "Mayank se tameez se baat karo!"
"Usne mujhse tameez se baat nahi ki thi kuchh der pehle," Nupur replied, "Then why me?"
"What?" Gunjan said, standing up, "You mean... tum jiju se mil chuki ho?"
"Jiju?" Mayank laughed while Nupur said, "Don't you call him Jiju, Gunjan! Main ye shaadi nahi karoongi, BAS!"
She stormed out of the hall.
"Nupur!" Bui shouted, and then sighed, "Aaj kal ki ladkiyan na.."
"Mayank, bete, tumhe is shaadi se inkaar hai kya?" Bauji asked and Mayank replied, "Nahi. Lekin I don't want to take any decision in haste. Agar aap bura na maane, toh kya main Nupur se akele mein baat kar sakta hoon?"
"Of course," Bauji said, though Bui shook her head sadly.
Gunjan nodded, "Mayank, I'll take you to Nupur, come. Woh bageeche mein hogi shaayad... she always goes there when she's upset. And today... anyway, chaliye."

Nupur sighed and wiped a tear from her eye. Bui and Bauji had chosen that sadu for her? So what if he was from Mumbai? So what if he was rich enough to bathe in money? So what if he was ultra-goodlooking?
Nupur shook her head sadly, "No wonder Bui ne ye ladka chuna hai. Baahar se toh woh perfect hai. Lekin andar se... black heart, By God..."
"Nups?" came Gunjan's voice and Nupur happily got up from the swing in the garden. But she sat down again when she saw that it was Gunjan with that Sadu.
"What is HE doing here?" She asked angrily.
"We should talk for a while," Mayank said, and he sat down beside her. Nupur looked away angrily and Gunjan, giggling, left the garden.
"Look, Nupur, aisa pretend karte hain ki aaj woh bus wala incident kabhi hua hi nahi, OK? And let's get to know each other. I'm Mayank Sharma from Mumbai and I work in a big business company. I go to all business parties and yes, occasionally Bollywood parties as well, but they are SO bor-"
"Bollywood parties?" Nupur looked up at him eagerly, "Tumhe parties se invites milte hain? Wow! Tell me all about it!"
"Er, OK," he said, feeling amused, "So last month I went to Preity Zinta's birthday bash. But I got really bored soon so I went back home to my laptop so I could finish some of my work, y'know."
"What about Shah Rukh?" Nupur asked, grinning, "Tum kabhi SRK se mile ho?"
"Duh," Mayank replied, rolling his eyes, "Anyway, tell me something about you. Tumhe kya kya pasand hai?"
"Mujhe na, by God, SRK ki saari picturein pasand hain! Waise bollywood ki main badi deewani hoon... And mujhe bas life khulkar jeena pasand hai. Woh kya kehte hain... kya pata.. kal ho na ho!" She giggled and slapped Mayank a high-five.
Mayank couldn't believe that she lightened up with just the mention of Bollywood. This girl was one in a million, he thought, smiling.
"Anyway," he said, getting up, "I'll go talk to your father."
"In NO WAY am I marrying you, mister!" Nupur exclaimed angrily and stood up, "Agar tum Bollywood parties mein jaate ho, toh kya badi baat hai? Main toh Morena ki Bollywood Queen hoon. And tum jaise SADU ko main ek smile tak na doon!"
"Okay," Mayank replied, chuckling, "You've already given me four of five smiles, but anyway. Nice meeting you. I'll tell SRK about you, fine?"
"Oooh, yes!" She grinned, and then quickly made a blank face, "OK, fine, your choice. Goodbye."

"Toh, Mayank, beta..." Bui asked him eagerly.
"Dekhiye, Nupur ko koi interest nahi hai. Main Nupur ko thoda aur jaanna chahta hoon, though. But I don't think this will be possible."
"Beta," Bauji said, sighing, "I really want this to work. Suno... woh kya kehte hain.. tum Nupur ko DATE pe kyon nahi lekar jaate?"
"KYA?" Mayank, Gunjan, Bui and Rani di exclaimed in surprise, "Date pe?"
"Haan," Bauji replied, "Tumhare paas meri permission hai. Nupur ko Gunjan aur Rani mana lenge. Tum phir kal aa jaana, OK?"
"Ji, Bauji," Mayank said, and he touched Bauji's feet, then Bui's, and then grinned to himself and left.

"Kya sachi?" Chinky exclaimed in excitement, "Nupur didi... us handsome hunk Mayank ke saath... DATE par jaa sakti hai? Oh my gosh!!!" She jumped up and down in the air with Jia, who was equally excited.
"Hmph," Rani said, looking away, "Haslo... at least tum logon ko toh Nupur ko manane ka kaam nahi diya hai... waise woh Mayank dikhta bahut achcha hai!"
"Hai na?" Jia exclaimed, giggling, "He's SO HOT!"
"Oye, chup kar!" Chinky said, laughing, "Nupur didi ne sun liya toh kya sochenge? Humaare jiju hain woh!"
They giggled some more while Rani shook her head sadly, "Ab bas... bhagwaan meri rakshaa kare. Nupur se meri rakshaa kare!"
