CHAPTER- 10 Part- C

Next day, gunjan and samrat did not meet each other. They did not wish to! And the reason was their childish behaviour in holi party! For the first time they felt awkward to face each other. So they found library and basketball court the best way to keep themselves away from each other. While gunjan remained in library, samrat played basketball in bb court!

Bell rang for history classes. Gunjan quickly came and sat on her seat, while samrat and benji stood out of the class, talking among themselves slowly.

B- dude itna achha mauka hai gunjan ke paas baithne ka, aur tu itna nakhre dikha raha hai!

S- idiot, main nakhre nahi dikha raha! Mujhe chashmish ko face karne mein ajeeb sa lag raha hai!

B- kyun? Tu to aise behave kar raha hai jaise sach much tum aur gunjan saath mein so gaye the!

Samrat gave benji an angry look. Benji smiled and made a puppy face.

B-tu to gussa ho gaya yaar main to bas aise hi keh raha tha! Lekin itna soch mat, jaa aur baith ja uske paas!

S- are you sure?

B- abe tu jata hai ya main baith jaun uske paas?

S- nahi main hi jaata hun, meri chashmish se tum door hi raho!

Benji smiled and went to sit beside dia.

Samrat quickly sat beside gunjan. Seeing him, gunjan moved a bit to other side and looked away. He tried to avoid eye-contact with her, and the same gunjan tried. But somehow, their eyes met each other. But again, gunjan looked aside, and so samrat looked at his book, which he never did!

S- (in mind) kal ke baad……chashmish mere baare mein kya soch rahi hogi? Maine use…..apne saath sone ko kaha bhi kaise?

G- (in mind) main bhi na, pata nahi nashe mein kya kya kaha hoga samrat se! aur main…..uske saath sone ke liye jaane waali thi! Hey bhagwaan, kya soch raha hoga wo mere baare mein?

S- (in mind) mujhe usse sorry to bolna hi padega! Pata nahi maine nashe mein aur kya kya kaha hoga usse!

G- (in mind) mujhe usse sorry kehna chahiye! Galti meri hai!

Gunjan and samrat turned towards each other to say sorry, but professor Deodhar came in the class. They both turned in front and stood up in his respect.

While the lectures were going on, both samrat and gunjan felt awkward in each other's presence. While dia and benji smiled at this, sheena remained confused.

SH- (in mind) ye…..dono itna ajeeb kyun behave kar rahe hain?

After the classes, sheena was sitting in the canteen, and drinking coffee, when samrat came to her.

S- hey sheena!

SH- hey!

S- wo…..actually main…..tumhe sorry kehne aaya hun!

SH- sorry??? Kyun samrat tumne kya kiya?

S- kyunki I guess main tumse kuchh zyada hi rude behave kar raha tha……..tumne ek baar galti ki, aur accept bhi kiya, magar maine….

SH- oh come on samrat! Its ok! Aur waise bhi, sorry mujhe kehna chahiye, kyunki maine galti ki thi!

S- waise, agar hum ye sorry kehne ka silsila khatam karein?

SH- (smiles) hmmm…..

Benji comes there and sits beside samrat.

B- sam tu bhool gaya tu gunjan se baat karne waala tha!

S- oh haan! Lekin…..

B- ab lekin wekin chhod aur jaake usse baat kar…..wo library mein hai!

S- but main awkward feel…..

B- abe tere awkwardness ki aisi ki taisi……tu jaake baat karta hai ya nahi?

SH- kya hua samrat? Kya baat karni hai gunjan se?

B- jab do bade log baat karte hain to beech mein bachche nahi bolte hain miss cheena!!

SH- (angrily) shut-up benji!

S- benji main….pakka jaaun na uske paas?

B- tu jaa na! Kyun time waste kar raha hai!

Samrat goes from there.

Sheena looks at him in confusion.

SH- (to herself) ise achanak kya ho gaya hai?

B- wo kya hai na sheena, kal holi thi. Aur galti se samrat aur gunjan ne bhaang pi liya tha. Ab bhaang ke nashe mein to dono ek dusre ke saath……..tum samajh rahi ho na main kya kehna chaah raha hun?

SH- shut-up benji! Apni bakwaas band karo.

B- main bakwaas kar raha hun?? Dia ya uday se puchh lo! Achha chalo, tum nupur di aur mayank se puchh lo…..wo to tumse jhoot nahi kahenge na? Kal samrat aur gunjan saath sone wale the!

Sheena looked at him angrily, while benji smiled widely.

B- kahin se jalne ki smell aa rahi hai!

SH- get lost!

Sheena went from there.

B- ajeeb pagal ladki hai! mujhe get lost kaha aur madam khud hi uth ke chali gayi!

In library, samrat slowly came in and sat beside gunjan. She looked at him and smiled slightly. He too smiled slightly at her.

S- hii….

G- hii….

Gunjan moved her eyes on her book. Samrat looked aside.

S- (in mind) dude! Itna soch kya rahe ho? Pehli baar kisi ladki se baat kar rahe ho kya jo itna darr rahe ho? Come on, be a man and talk to her!

G- (in mind) mujhe pehle samrat se sorry kehna chahiye.

They thought for a while and then looked at each other.

"wo main….." both spoke together.

They remained silent and looked aside.

"actually…." Again both spoke together.

They looked at each other, and then laughed.

S- pehle tum bolo chashmish.

G- main……sorry bolna chahti thi.

S- sorry?? Wo kisliye?

G- actually kal……jo bhi hua uske liye…..

S- chashmish, isme sorry bolne waali kya baat hai?

G- main…..kal nashe mein thi samrat. Mujhe to theek se yaad bhi nahi ki maine tumse kya kya kaha hoga…..isliye sorry keh rahi hun. Agar maine kuchh galat kaha ho to…

S- (in mind) aaaawwwwww chashmish tum itni sweet kyun ho????? Tumhare saath rehkar mujhe diabetes ho jaayega!

G- (waving in front of him) samrat??? Kya hua?

S- a…..kuchh nahi…..actually sorry mujhe kehna chahiye. Maine kal……tumse……saath mein…..so…..sone….ko….

Gunjan blushed and looked away. Samrat loved her red blushing face. He smiled at her innocence, but himself was confused whether to blush or to speak further.

S- chashmish……maine……wo….sab nashe mein…..kaha tha…

G- main…..naraaz nahi hun samrat…..

Both remained silent and looked to opposite sides. But then samrat broke the silence.

S- chashmish actually……mujhe bhaang peena bahut pasand hai magar……I swear kal maine us intention se bhaang nahi piya tha!

G- (smiles) its ok samrat! Meri to yeh samajh nahi aa raha ki…..nupur di ne do alag stalls lagwaaye the, fir maine bhaang kaise pi li….

S- a……chhodo na! Ab hum dono kuchh aur baatein karein?

G- hmmm….

S- gunjan, tumhe yaad hai na ki tumne mujhe kuchh promise kiya tha?

G- sorry samrat…..agar maine kal kuchh promise kiya hoga…..to mujhe yaad nahi…

S- oh god! Chashmish! Tumne mujhe holi ke pehle kuchh promise kiya tha.

G- kya?

S- yehi ki tum nupur ki shaadi ki taiyyariyon mein meri help karogi.

G- haan….mujhe yaad hai samrat! Isme puchhne waali kya baat hai? friends hote kisliye hain!

S- (under his breathe) lekin main to tumhe friend se kuchh zyada hi banana chahta hun!!

G- kya kaha tumne?

S- a….kuchh nahi. Main kal tumhe sab bata dunga……I mean, shaadi ke baare mein.

G- waise, shaadi ki date kab ki fix hui hai?

S- 8^th April……..us din mayank ki band bajne waali hai!

G- samrat!!!!

S- achha sorry!

G- iska matlab shaadi ki taiyyariyan karne ke liye bahut kam time hai! Bahut saare kaam honge na!

S- haan! 7^th ko mehendi aur sangeet hain. 8^th ko shaadi hai. Nupur meri only sister hai, isliye main uske liye uski shaadi bahut special banana chahta hun!

Gunjan smiled at him.

S- aise kya dekh rahi ho?

G- tum nupur di se bahut pyaar karte ho na?

S- ummm….thoda bahut kar leta hun, formality ke liye!

Gunjan slightly hits him on his shoulder.

S- ouchh!! Sorry. Bahut pyaar karta hun main usse. You know what, uski shaadi ka mandap main apne haathon se sajaana chahta hun.

G- ye to bahut achhi baat hai! Di kitni khush hongi ye jaankar!

S- chashmish, ye kya di di laga rakha hai! Wo meri di hai, tum nupur ko nupur bolo na!

G- are, par wo mujhse badi hain samrat! Aur tumhe kya problem hai agar main unhe di bolun to?

S- (thinks) agar tum unhe di bologi, to tum meri bhi behen ban jaogi, jo main nahi chahta hun!

G- kya soch rahe ho samrat?

S- a…..kuchh nahi. Waise mujhe……mandap sajaana nahi aata hai. Tum meri help karogi na?

G- (smiles) haan! Lekin tumhe bhi mujhe ek promise karna hoga!

S- kya?

G- yehi, ki tum exams mein achhi tarah se padhoge!

S- chashmish plz…..padhai ki baat karke mera mood spoil mat karo…..

G- samrat??? Exams pass karne ke liye padhna to padega na?

S- lekin wo to nupur ki shaadi ke baad hoga! Abhi filhaal mujhe shaadi enjoy karne do!

G- main tumse padhne ko nahi keh rahi hun! Main bas itna chahti hun ki shaadi ke baad tum mere banaye hue notes padho.

S- tumhare banaye hue notes?? You mean, tumne mere liye notes banaye hain?

G- haan! Ye dekho.

Gunjan took out some papers from her bag and showed it to samrat.

S- (thinks) OMG…….chashmish ne to mera murder karne ka plan hi bana liya hai!

G- kahan kho gaye???

S- a….tumhare notes mein! Chashmish, tumhe nahi lagta hai ki…..tumne in notes par kuchh zyada hi time waste kiya hai?

G- time waste???? Agar main tumhare liye kuchh karti hun to wo mere liye time waste nahi hota hai samrat!

S- par….

G- samrat mujhe promise karo ki di ki shaadi ke baad tum in notes ko padhoge.

S- wo….

G- samrat??

S- main….

G- samrat!!

S- achha promise! Pakka promise!!

G- (smiles) good!

S- tum khush ho na?

G- haan! Agar tum notes padhoge to main bahut khush hun!

S- (under his breathe) tumhari khushi ke liye ye notes to kya, main library ki saari books padhne ko taiyyar hun!

G- kya?

S- a….kuchh nahi!

Sheena stood near the door and heard samrat and gunjan's conversation.

SH- (thinks) to gunjan ne samrat ko achhe marks dilaane ke liye notes banaye hain! Great! Mujhe isse achha mauka nahi milega!

[Samrat and gunjan spend more time with each other while doing the wedding preparations. Samrat felt on top of the world, as he got lots and lots of time to spend with her. After all, wedding preparations were just the way to know more about gunjan!

He even started talking with sheena, unknown of the fact that she would create more problems in future]
