Armaan introduced them and told Riddhima the whole story.

R: But you had gone to meet your ------

Armaan looked at her apologetically with his left hand on his ear.

Riddhima sympathised with Bashir and assured him that at Sanjeevani, his wife would be in the best hands. Akka brought some water for him. In a few minutes kaka followed with some snacks and asked whether the guest would like tea or coffee.

B: Please don't take any trouble.

A: this is no trouble. We are about to have our coffee and Kaka has tea. So he'll prepare whatever you prefer. Seeing Kaka waiting for his reply, Bashir said, "Ok, tea will be fine."

Riddhima heard Ani cry, but she saw akka go in with his milk bottle. She let her handle him while they discussed about Bashir's wife, devi's health. After finishing snacks and tea, Riddhima said "I think I'll go to Kochi tomorrow and meet Devi's doctor. Then I'll talk to papa and get everything arranged."

A: Mr. Bashir, give me the doctor's phone number, I'll make an appointment with him.

"Ya, make the appointment around twelve noon", she said as she got up hearing Akshat cough. She gave him a dose of medicine and as he was bored she picked him and brought him into the hall wrapped in a shawl. Akka came out with Ani in her arms just then and the little one couldn't bear to see his mama carrying his bhai. Seeing the guest, Akshat became shy saying "mama mujhe uthar do. Aap Ani ko lelo." Riddhima carried him to the sofa and made him sit next to Armaan. Armaan pulled him on his lap and hugged him.

Ani had wriggled out of akka's arms and was now at the sofa, tugging at Armaan' s trousers with his dadadada. Riddhima sat on the sofa and took Ani on her lap. Bashir looked at Akshat and asked "Is he unwell?"

A: He's got a throat infection and slight temperature.

B: I'm sorry to be imposing on you like this. You can wait for a couple of days, till he's ok and then meet Devi's doctor.

R: Don't worry Mr. Bashir, Armaan will take care of Akshat. He's very good with the kids. When he's around, they don't need me. And akka is also there. No problem. We'll leave by 8 tomorrow. I'll ask Shafi, our taxi driver, to pick you up on his way here.

A: Par Riddhima, it will be better if I also come along.

R: No need. You stay here with the kids. You still need to take things easy, as your arm still needs to be rested. Remember, tomorrow Dr. Malvika, the physiotherapist is also going to come.

Both Armaan and Riddhima noticed Bashir's face sadden and when they enquired he said "Devi is also exactly like that. Always more concerned about me than herself. That's why she kept this problem to herself for so long."

R: actually there are not much early signs in cervical cancer, so women should go in for pap smear tests. This will give a warning even if precancerous cells are detected.

Ani had crawled down from Riddhima's lap and standing next to Bashir, admiring his huge watch and bracelet. But when Bashir tried to lift him he wriggled away, back to his mama.

B: Devi would have been very happy to meet your kids. She loves children but since she couldn't have any, she has 2 pet dogs. Unfortunately they'll have to accompany us to Kochi as there's no one I can leave them with. I don't know if the hospital will allow me to keep them.

A: No problem, leave them here. Only explain to us how to take care of them. We'll have them till your wife is out of the hospital.

B: no, no you are already helping me so much, I can't burden you any further.

R: it won't be a burden. I'm sure the kids would love them. No issues, bring them over tomorrow.

Riddhima rang Shafi and called him over so that they could get to know each other while Shafi dropped him at his hotel. Bashir got totally emotional as he prepared to leave.

B: I came here only to sell the house but found two angels instead. Allah has sent you a messiahs to help me and Devi. In a world where relatives and friends shirk off responsibilities of a sick person, there are people like you who even help a stranger. Allah will shower all his blessings on you and your children. I'm deeply indebted to you both.

A: We haven't even done anything for you yet, thank us when we have.

B: ok bye. Beta take care and get well soon.

Ak: Ji uncle.

Shafi arrived and Bashir left taking leave of all including akka and Kaka.

After they left Riddhima confronted Armaan, "why did you lie to me?"

A: Actually I wanted to buy the house as a surprise for you. But it didn't fall through. I didn't want him to give up the house, where they had dreamt of spending their retired lives.

"You are right" she agreed with him, but the disappointment showed on her face as well as her voice.

"God must have thought of something better for us," he said to console her and then said "I'll make that appointment with Devi's doctor."

The next morning Riddhima had helped Armaan with his bath, given Akshat his medicine and at the same time explained to him Devi aunty's condition and the reason for her going to Kochi when he wasn't well. Though he was very sad about his mama going he made a brave face and said in a cracking voice, "Aap tension mat lo mama, main ab theek hoon." But a tear drop fell on her hand which held his. She lifted his chin and said "Theek hai main dad ko unke saath bhej deti hoon," and hugged him tight.

Ak: Nahi mama, dad ki tabiyaat abhi tak theek nahi hai. Aap befikar hokar jao, hum teeno enjoy karenge ghar par. Bus phone karte rehna.

She showered him with kisses and said "I love you beta," and he repeated "I love you too mama."

A: Agar maa bete ka bidaai scene khatam ho gaya ho to, can I join you both?

Just as they were about to get into a hug, a tiny hand pulled at Armaan's pants. All three of them burst laughing and Armaan commented "I'm sure he has some sort of antenna that's why he immediately comes to know if any of us are hugging." In the meantime Akshat broke into a bout of coughing. Riddhima was rubbing his back and giving him sips of water while Armaan picked up the litle one and put him on the cot. Then all four of them got into a hug. Riddhima kissed each of them on either cheek and when it was Armaan's turn he purposely turned his head towards her at the precise moment and the kiss landed on his lips. Riddhima glared him seeing his eyes glinting mischievously.

Hearing Shafi's taxi horn, they moved into the hall. Bashir came in with his dogs "Droopy" and "Snoopy". He introduced them to the family and made them familiar with each of them. He had brought their dog food, leash etc. and had written out everything they had to be fed etc. like a neat timetable, including when they needed to go. Ani was the most excited seeing them. To him they were some kind of moving toys.

Sharp at 8 am Riddhima, Bashir and Shafi left after having their breakfast. They were in the hospital by 11.30. They first went and met Devi. Bashir had told Devi everything when he had called her the previous evening, to say that he wouldn't be coming that night. So she was waiting for Riddhima and welcomed her with open arms. They spoke at length and by the end of it Devi was already feeling much better. Riddhima spoke to Devi's oncologist and understood that the first chemo was due that week. Both of them agreed that, that should go on as scheduled. Then they would discuss about Devi being shifted to Mumbai depending on her response and progress.

Riddhima promised Devi that she would come to the hospital on the day she was given her chemo and left. Bashir wouldn't let her go back without having lunch with him. So it was around 2 pm when she left from Kochi. She had spoken to Armaan and Akshat several tines. AS she travelled back she spoke to her papa and explained devi's case. He said the paper work for transfer of fund from the financers was almost done, and soon Sanjeevani would become a better hospital and that they would defnitely be able to accommodate Devi there in 2 weeks time.

Riddhima came back satisfied with her day's work, but wasn't aware of what awaited her at home.
