PART 2
Heart broken and shattered Nupur left her office and was walking towards her bus stop still dazed at what happened a few hours back.Was this the reason for her delay in promotion?......Standing at the bus stop Nupur was lost in her thoughts and waited for the bus to arrive..she badly wanted to have some sleep not only because she was working on her project for the past few nights but also cause of the emotional turmoil her mind and head was going through.She needed rest and a calm mind as she was to make some decisions after what happened at the meeting today.Soon the bus arrived and Nupur took it hushing the crowd around her.
Mayank unlocked the door to his apartment worn out as usual after fulfilling his commitments to work...The apartment was what every person would have dreamed of...luxurious 5 bedrooms with a huge lounge which opens to a balcony having loads of plants giving a soothing effect typical mayankish ,a dining room attached to an open kitchen.Looking around Mayank threw his coat on the couch placed in the lounge and later dropped himself on the sofa.He closed his eyes taking in the silence to have a soothing effect after a noisy and busy day at office.He was so used to the silence and somewhere it was killing him.At office no matter it was noisy around yet it was a headache to him.He has no one to talk to except for his business colleagues.After a few minutes he opened his eyes and saw a couple of invitations and letters placed on the coffee table.He went through them...all of them were invitations to parties and some official letters.He had everything he dreamed of...a successful business,a page 3 life,parties, in short a successful life or an almost successful life.He was still reading the letters when Kaka,the servant who looked after the house, came and asked.
K:Mayank Sir how was your day?
M:Huh! Oh yes kaka it was good and tiring as usual.Mayank said resting his head once again.
K:Would you like to have something Sir?
M:Plz kaka bring me some coffee.....that too a strong one...my head is aching...
K:Il bring that shortly.Will you have your dinner at home tonight?
M:Yes Kaka! I am not feeling like going out tonight.
K:What would you like to have for dinner Sir?
M:Anything would be fine kaka.....you know am not fussy about all this.
K:Absolutely!I know that well Sir.With that he left the lounge to bring Mayank some coffee.
Mayank was dependent on kaka for all his household chores.Kaka has all the reponsibilities of maintaining the house and Mayank also trusted him for his work.He never questioned him about anything.The fact was that he has no time for house and its maintenance.His lunches were always at office and most of the dinners were either at parties or business functions.He rarely ate at home.Basically Mayank only come home at night and went to office early in the morning.On the other hand Kaka also knew that Mayank was a work horse.It was not difficult for him to maintain the already perfect house since there was not much to do.
As soon as Nupur reached her home she entered the kitchen to find something to eat but there was nothing ready for her to eat and she has to cook something to calm her appetite and she was in no mood to cook so she went for the option of "later".Her apartment was more modestly decorated,a hall with an open kitchen and one bedroom.Dropping herself on the couch she lied on the couch and switched on the tv to catch something that could deviate her attention but the tv was blank.Nupur frowned and then remembered that she hasnt paid the bill to the cable connection yet so they must have disconnected it."Oh God!" with that she pressed her forehead with her fingers to stop the throbbing headache and lied again to have a nap.
After having his dinner Mayank went to the balcony and sat on the swing to take in some of the fresh air.The plants gave the balcony a refreshing and soothing effect having the power of bringing the agitated nerves at rest.He hated the silence and lonliness and badly wanted someone in his life with whom he can talk and share his happiness and grievances but he knew that this was not the time.He still has to wait before bringing her in his life again.He was still enjoying the ambience when his phone rang only to break the deadly silence.Mayank saw the caller name and then picked the phone slowly.
M:Hello!
S:Hey Mayank! How are you man??Where are you?
M:Sheena!Heyyy....M fine just a headache nothing else...
S:I was expecting to see you in the party tonight but you didnt turn up?Is everything fine?
M:Ya absolutely fine...as told you before just a headache...
S:Oh its okay...well u must have got the invitation i send you...
M:Ya i was just going through your invitation...An exhibition for your new collection...thats nice...
S:So will you be coming to the exhibition?
M:Ahh Sheena...you know i am so busy these days...also i have no fashion sense...and m not intersted in all these fashion exhibitions.Ya that was Mayank straightforward indeed.
S:Mayank please you and not having a fashion sense is impossible.Sheena said truly flirting with Mayank "and i know you are not interested but i came to know that you are having a meeting at "The Galaxy" too and my exhibition is at the same hotel.Please Mayank you can show up for a few minutes.Sheena knew well that Mayank's presence would certainly boost up her exhibition and she dont want to miss the chance.
M:Giving up Mayank agreed to join the exibition.Okay il come for a few minutes.
S:Oh thank you so much Mayank!Il see you day after tomorrow at the exhibition.
M:See you ! Bye.Mayank ended the call well irritated with Sheena.
Encircling his arms around her waist Mayank caressed his cheek with Nupur's as she was busy watching her forever favourite movie DDLJ.Both of them layed on the sofa,Nupur's back pressed against his front and their cheeks caressing each other.
N:Mayank what are you doing?I am watching tv i guess and you are acting as a disturbing factor.
M:As if you havent watched this movie before.
N:Whatever! This movie has no first or last time.It always seem as refreshing and loving everytime you watch the movie.
M:I guess i know that by now!Mayank said in amusement.
N:You should ! Nupur said mocking him for making fun of her the most favourite movie.
Mayank turned her around a little looked deep down her brown wide eyes looking back at him with absolute love.He bend and kissed her neck lingering there for a few seconds.
M:I hate you ! Mayank said smiling.
N:I hate you more ! Nupur said playing along with him
M:I guess i hate you even more than that.With that both of them giggled and went back to their initial positions continuing with the movie.He kissed her cheek making her blush.
Jerking out of her dream Nupur looked here and there trying to take in the environment.Soon she came to the reality that she was still on her couch and was probably taking her nap which once again was haunted by her past memories.Resting her head again on the couch she realised how much she missed him and her relationship.But now was not the time for her to cry over her past,she had enough of that.Its time for her to make some decisions after what happened at the meeting earlier the same day.
