You Belong to Me
Chapter Five
The masculinity of his deep voice sent shivers down her spine; her ears tingling in untamed excitement. Hearing his voice was enough to render her speechless. Divya peered inside the limousine; her erratic heart skipped several beats as she gazed at him wholeheartedly. He was sitting casually on the seat, as if he owned the world. Divya shifted uncomfortably as she noticed how intensely he was staring at her. With a deep breath, she met his eyes and read the possessive expression clearly etched in ever contours of his magnificent face.
'Must I repeat myself?' He asked softly. His gentle voice was laced with unmask-able frustration.
Divya inwardly rattled her brain to awake from her daydreams. His clipped and commanding words outraged her senseless.
'Is that an order?' she retorted in anger, fuming at his nerve.
He raised his eyebrows mockingly, clearly unaffected by her sudden outburst.
'Interpret my words the way you wish' he replied, 'take it as an order or an offer - its up to you'.
Divya's eyebrows shot up, listening to his snobbish arrogance. 'Well if it's an order than I solemnly refuse to follow it' she replied angrily, 'and if it's an offer than I decline - good day'. She nodded her head and proceeded in walking off.
Divya's blood boiled as she remembered his words. How dare he order her as if she were his mere slave! She had her own pride and self respect and there was no way, that good for nothing H.C could freely command her. Divya opened her bag and took out the rose, staring at it angrily. She mentally cursed herself for acting like such a dimwit in the hospital. She had literally screamed out to the world - how attractive she had found him by ogling him. It was obvious her appreciation of him had enlarged the size of his pea sized head. Well she will amend her mistake, she thought to herself. She promised herself that one day she would show that H.C, what she really thought of him.
'Horse Crap' she muttered out loud, as she dropped the rose onto the ground and smothered it with her shoes. Divya was so preoccupied in destroying the rose, that she failed to sense a presence lingering before her. She stared furiously onto the ground, satisfied with her job when suddenly a hand reached out and touched the crushed rose. Divya gasped in shock as H.C crouched onto the floor and picked up a torn petal from the ground. He stared at it for several seconds - his deadly silence threatened her more than words could. Divya lost both her tongue and her courage. H.C at last looked up and stared at her quietly, not uttering a single word.
Divya felt a sense of guilt building up within her, after all he had gifted it to her with such sincerity. 'uh' she began, clearing up her jarred throat 'I was angry and wasn't thinking properly and'.
H.C stood up abruptly causing Divya to jump back in alarm. 'And?' he sneered at her.
Divya tried to swallow her saliva but realized that her mouth had suddenly gone dry from fear. She took another step back, trying to find an excuse to escape. He took a step forward, not allowing her to distance herself from him. In response, Divya took another step back. H.C walked several steps towards her and stopped only inches away from her. His closeness made her feel nervous as she tried to take another step back, only realizing that she had herself cornered against the brick wall. H.C leaned in towards her, placing one of his hands on the wall - beside her head. He lowered himself so that they were face to face. 'And?' he repeated softly. Divya lost track of her thoughts, for she was too busy staring at his full lips. The corner of his lips lifted slowly as if he were aware of her shameful thoughts. Harshad leaned dangerously close, his lips only inches away from hers. 'And?' he asked again, with a teasing glint in his passion - filled eyes.
