I turned my back to face her...and world halted. She was wearing white saree with golden-silver work on its border, wearing a simple pendant with little pearls dangling in her ears made her look heavenly, even with her face easily showing the hardships of 15 years . But her eyes were still the same ...hiding so many emotions and even today i am afraid to look for her feelings towards me in her eyes.
She moved towards me ''Welcome Mr.Sharma'' the word ached me but was used to it now
''Thanx Nupur and Congratulations '' i said and she smiled...Somethings never change even today, she still cant fake a smile ...
''Wel, i am needed inside so please make yourself comfortable '' she said and quickly left that place without waiting for my nod
''Uncle Sharma..i loved this book on aeronautics..Thank You so much '' he said with his eyes still going throu the pages
''U are welcome Agastya .. '' he looked at me and hugged me... I closed my eyes and pushed tears back , there was no need to feel sorry coz i have my son with me ..It hardly matters that i am some Uncle Sharma for him but he is world to me ...my son ! my Ryan .
My thoughts lingered to the time when I came back to India for completing the last rituals of Mom's death. On those gloomy days , a ray of light entered my life in form of Ryan..i saw my five year old son..! He was a bigg boy now ..not the 15days infant whom i left back and sometimes Destiny pay-backs for all the pain it gives you .
Ryan grew fond of me in those days and even i couldnt stop myself from getting close to him , inspite knowing that Nupur was not pleased but she never stopped me and neither took away Ryan from my arms. That was the time and till today i meet Ryan , not regularly but once in 5 years...
But somethings never change , like Nupur and our Relation . We never spoke to each other, if we did ..it was only to make Agastya feel comfortable ...she never looked at me and neither i had the guts to face her eyes...but i am happy the way it is going ..Nupur got a new life with Agastya and i got the reason to live my life.
''Uncle Sharma, where are you lost ?'' Ryan asked shaking his hand in front of my eyes
''Nothing ..''i smiled but he was not convinced ''so tell me howz school and everything going?''
''Everything fine ...just like before , i topped again !'' he said with a broad smile and i felt immensely proud of him
''Thats great !''
''Yeah , mom deserves all the credit...she still thinks that i cant study myself so she make sure that i solve her quiz paper ''
he said shaking his head ''and trust me , i never managed to score cent percent in her tests'' he chuckled
''she loves you..'' i said out of blue
''more than anyone else in this world' he said looking at her mother who was talking to one of her mates
Later Agastya blew off the candles and cut the cake . Everyone were chanting Happy B'day song except two people , who were busy admiring their grown up child. Agastya fed Nupur the first piece followed by his Daddu , Adi , Samrat , Dia and finally his Uncle Sharma
''May God bless you with everything you want in life ..'' Nupur said getting bit emotional
''U complete my life mom ..and no tears !'' he said and both shared a beautiful hug . Hope i could be the part of duo but wel....
I got on talking terms with Samrat-Dia long before but somewhere Nupur's Dad couldnt forgive me...and i cant blame him too.
Party came to an end , and all of us were standing in parking place ...
Samrat and I were just having some other bussiness talk when i spotted Ryan leaning against Samrat's car , just looking at image of his mom who too seemed to be smiling but a fake one. I excused myself and went to him
''Dude..what happened?'' i said snapping my fingers in front of his face
''ahmm..nothing ! Just ..nothing'' he said
''if you dont wanna share , then its perfectly fine'' i said normally while he looked lost again
''hmm..i dont know , but you know that i share everything with you..right ?'' he said and looked at me , while i just nodded
''yep !..but if you dont wish to ..its okk''i said patting his back
We both sat in silence for sometime ...Ryan was still fiddling with his thoughts while i just waited for him to get comfortable
''I JUST WISH MY DAD WAS WITH ME'' he said out of blue
I stared at him for a moment...but soon Nupur's image at over Ryan's shoulder caught my attention ...She looked broken , just the way i saw her 16yrs back..
Nupur's POV
I ran from that place before anyone can witness tears flowing down my cheeks ,''i just wish my Dad was with me''. The words echoed in my ear ...and it was after so long that i found everything worthless, my living ..everything and specially my decisions ...
i ran to my room and crumbled down on floor, next to bed ...I knew Agastya longed to be with his father..but didnt know that fact it hurt much more when u face those words. Maybe i was not that good mother...maybe ...
I buried my head in knees and sobbed aloud...it was after long that i cried this way ...but today i cried cause of guilt ..Guilt of snatching my son's childhood, guilt of keeping him away from his father, guilt of not telling my son that his Uncle Sharma was no one else but his father..Guilt of being self-centered !!..
Third Person's POV
Mayank ran to Nupur's room to find her sitting on floor and crying her heart out. With the noice of door, Nupur looked up and found Mayank staring at her with all color drained out from his face, while Nupur's face was filled with tears
''I am gonna tell Agastya the truth '' Mayank spoke
''No..you arnt doing anything like this'' Nupur said getting up with jerk.. Mayank didnt reply to her but looked at her , hairs messed up , kohl streaming down with tears and her fragile heart torn into pieces. Mayank moved out of the room , taking swift steps while Nupur trying to catch-up with him
''Please Mayank..meri baat suno .. ''Nupur shouted as she ran to catch up with his steps ''dont tell him please..he'll break down'' she kept chanting these lines but nothing seemed to work for him .
He opened door to Agastya's room and found him sitting on bed still lost in thoughts
''Uncle Sharma..'' he said and caught the sight of Nupur standing behind him ''mom ?..what happened mom ?..are you okk ?'' he asked all perplexed and before he could move to Nupur ..
''I am your Dad Agastya''
