Chapter 10

Rains have a tremendous ability to bring about the emotions into expressions.

While Geet was still getting wet in the rain, drenching every bit of her body and soul, feeling the cold water that was lashing against her skin. But the sudden turn of events that had interrupted her life gave her greater pain, breaking every bit of hope, heart and dreams that was left in her.

Meanwhile, someone was really happy to see the dark and misty weather. Enjoying the beauty that it had brought to Delhi.

In the faraway resort of Delhi, someone had the reason to celebrate. Stretching the hand out from the shaded hut that isolated them from the rest of resort and the world, she felt the cold drops on her skin, took the water into her hands and playfully threw it on him.

"Hey, Yaar...What are you doing? You have drenched me. This is not fair." He complained in his husky voice, cleaning his misty spectacles. He went towards her and said,"Take this now".

And splashed water on her face.

Immediately both started laughing and splashing water on each other. They both ran here and there and finally he got hold of her. Both smirked. He put his arms around her shoulder and said with love, "thanks Naintara, for helping me out of all this. The way you saved me from all this mess, no one else could. You are simply wonderful, dear. I LOVE YOU, MY WIFE."

Giving her honey sweet smile, she said,"hume toh ye sab karna hi tha..aapke liye...kyunki aap sirf Naintara ke Dev hai, sirf humare, aur vo Gee..."

But before she could complete her sentence, Dev stopped her midway, putting his finger on her lips, "No, NT, not today, don't spoil your mood today.", the sudden anger on NT's face had vanished and replaced by the lovely smile.

"Comeon, let's dance, to the music of rain", Dev said getting romantic with the beautiful weather.

"Naintara, I must say, I'm impressed. A perfect plan. Now, even Maan can't point a finger on me." Dev said after a long while.

"How did you do this, I mean, how do you know Geet was here?"

"Vo Geet, humare ghar ayi thi, Khurana Mansion...", she spoke moving away from Dev towards the side of hut.

"Hume to laga tha ki us Geet ne humein dhund liya. Par jaldbaazi mein hum kaam nahi lena chahte theh. Isliye humne Dadiji se pucha."

"Unse hi pata chala ki Geet Maan ki Secretary hai. Humein toh laga humaara sara khel khatam ho gaya. Agar Geet humare ghar tak paguch gayi to humare liye yahaan rehna behad khatarnak ho jaega."

At this moment Dev came really close to NT. Standing beside her and facing her he said, " You know what, Naintara!! If you are with me, I don't fear anyone and anything.", all the while holding NT's hand.

NT smiled and continued, "Humein toh laga ki aapne hi Geet ko yahan bulaya hoga, par fir socha ki vo chhote shehar ki ladki Geet, itni bhi bholi nahi hai. Agar vo Amritsar taka a sakti hai, toh Delhi aana kitna mushkil hoga."

Dev's hand gave a quiet shiver, giving away the shock that he had received now, "Amritsar" he said with a frown on his face.

"Yes", and then Naintara continued to tell what had happened in Amritsar.

"Humare liye ye jaan na bahut jaruri tha ki Geet Delhi mei kya kar rahi hai, or vo Maan ke office tak kaise pahuchi. Uske liye Sasha se acha informer or kaun ho sakta tha. Humne Sasha se baat ki toh Geet ke baare mein kafi kuch pata chala. Or isse pehle ki Geet koi kadam uthaye humne Geet ke liye Delhi mei rehna mushkil karna tha."

"Usse hi humein Geet or Maan ke baare mei pata chala." She said this with a visible contempt in her voice as well as expressions.

"Hmmm... Geet... Mujhe to pata bhi nahi chalta ki Bhai ko mein jis Secretary ke naam se chidhata tha vo koi or nahi, balki Geet hai. Vo to us din meine Geet ko bahar dekha tha tabhi mujhe Geet ke yahan hone ka pata chala." Dev said with an evil grin on his face.

"But, tum or Sasha...." Dev asked out of curiosity and surprise.

"Hum Sasha se office mein mile theh. Or humne jitna socha tha Sasha use kahin jyada tez nikli. Maan ka office se bahar jana unki sabse badi bhul thi or humare liye aisi opportunity jo shayad dobara nahi milti. Sasha ne Geet ko resign karne par majbur kar diya. Use yakin dila diya ki uski wahan koi jagah nahi, usko resignation par sign karva diya. Isse humara kaam behad asaan ho gaya. Par Geet humari umeed se kahi jyada aage thi. Us bewakuf ne humara khilaaf, Naintara ke khilaaf FIR de di. Ye to tumne acha nahi kiya, iski saza to milni hi thi."

"And then, you started taking Daadiji to your side, to make her believe that Geet is a liar, her innocence is a drama to win over the hearts. You know, I was worried that if Maan comes and knows it all, he will definitely make things worse for me. But, Daadi took care of that matter. Everything turned out perfectly well. The lawyer that Daadiji chose herself is brilliant. And all my worries about Maan vanished yesterday. You should have been there to see that Naintara.", dev started telling now, interrupting NT's sentence. He then paused for a moment and added, "Naintara, why didn't you attend the court proceedings. You didn't even go to that lawyer also."

NT smiled and then said, "Daadi ko ye yakeen dilana jaruri tha ki Geet ke galat or jhuthe FIR se humein bahut takleef hui hai. Or ye sab bardaasht karna humare liye kitna mushkil hai. Or vaise bhi, hum Geet ke saath or koi risk nahi lena chahte theh. Isse pehle ki vo humein dekhkar apna muh khole or hum par bhi ilzaam lagaye, humne decide kiya ki uske saamne na jana hi accha hoga. Or humein har baat ki khabar dene ke liye Sasha to wahan par thi hi." She paused for a moment after pouring out all the truth which resulted in heart-and-hope-and-dream-broken Geet.

She then said, "Now, Geet will suffer for what she has done. Tomorrow she will be behind bars, and I will make sure that she can never think about you again. huh.. She tried to stand against me, punishment has to be there."

Suddenly changing her mood and thoughts, "But, why should I ruin my date with you b'coz of her. It's a wonderful weather and has been long since we have spend some quality time together."

She said while putting her hand on Dev's shoulder and Dev immediately held her other hand high to swirl her.

They started dancing once again.

Both danced and danced for very long and their devilsh laughter echoed in the atmosphere as if screaming out the atrocities that they had imposed on the innocent-small-town-bubbly-girl Geet.

While Maan was gathering up his nerves and making up his mind to go to the office.

Geet had now come indoors and changed, all this while thinking about what will happen tomorrow.
