Here I am starting one new OS on mayur. The blue color my voice, red is Nupur & green Mayank.
For the sake of the story I made mayur bengalee here and you will understand the reason why I have done that. So no more Mayank Sharma & Nupur Bhusan here. Meet my new characters - Mayank Mukherjee & Nupur Roy from Kolkata.
Both of them are studying in the first year of MBA at IIM, Bangalore. The time of this story is around late september or early october, just 3 days prior to Durga Puja, bengalees' most happening festival. Now you understand why I made them bong right? Their MBA classes have started from july 2nd half. So in these 2 months they know each other as classmate, but no more intimacy than that. They are not project partner or lab partner also - just knowing each other as another student in the class and also as another bong outside bengal.
The story starts at the Yashwantpur railway Station on the evening of Chaturthi i.e. exactly 2 days prior to start of Durga Puja. Time around 7 p.m. Now let us find out what is our hero & heroine doing at the station at this time. Ohh I found Nupur here. She was struggling with 3 bags - one laptop bag, one side bag & one huge trolley, in front of the door of B2 compartment of YPR-Howrah express., dressed in a bright red & black printed kurti & black churidaar track. She was trying to board the train, but was not getting how to manage all the three bags at one time. Amogst the noise of passengers, the train announcements a soft voice came "hey Nupur, let me help you in putting the bags." Ohh here came our hero Mayank , dressed in a skyblue - white t-shirt & black jeans.
Nupur looked back hearing her name in the railway station " who could be here to help me?" murmering to herself. But her raised brows straightened with a light smile as she found Mayank standing behind her with left hand in pocket & right hand forwarded to hold the handle of her trolley bag. "hey Mayank, Thanks a lot. Seriously I was little puzzled with three bags. But how come you here?" Nupur replied boarding on the train with her side bag & laptop bag. Mayank followed her taking the trolley in his hand. He replied instantly " same reason for which you are here. Going back to Kolkata for durga Puja. I hope I am right in guessing." He stopped as Nupur also stopped infront of him. " which berth?" he asked her again. " umm berth no 23, side lower , give me the bag Mayank, I will keep it under my seat." She uttered placing her luggage on her seat & trying to push the trolley under her seat. After 1 or 2 minutes of fighting finally the trolley settled down itself under her bed peacefully, Nupur heaved a sigh of relief seating on her seat & replied Mayank's earlier question " yeah u r right.. what can else a bong do in YPR-Howrah express on the night of Chaturthi.? Where is your seat?"
Mayank took the seat in front of her & replied " here , just in front of you, berth no 21, middle one." Nupur's face glowed with happiness " That's great. I was thinking I will have to be mum & will be bored in this long 36 hours journey. It's good that I got someone now to continue my nonstop bakbak express. Mayank, I don't know you much, but in this train I only know you. So you have to listen to my unnecessary talkings sometimes , ok? Plzz tu mana mat karna." Mayank smiled " ok ok no problem, even if I am not listening, you can go to any of the bengalee families going with us in this train. See in this compartment, maximum are bengalee people going back to kol, for Puja. So I think they are also excited about home, and will not be bored with your talks." They both bursted out in laughter.
The train started its journey around 7:30 P.M. Initially Mayank & Nupur was busy settling all the baggage & having the blankets & bedsheets for 15 - 20 miutes, then discussion about class mates, teachers, projects & deadlines kept them busy till the foods reached from pantry. It was around 10 P.M. when they finished dinner. The lights inside the compartment started to be off one by one, people were going to dreamland. Neither Nupur nor Mayank had the intention to go to sleep so early, & the credit for late night goes to IIM pressure which made them awake till later part of night most of the nights. So they kept on gossiping. But around 11 all the rest passengers of their coupe went for sleeping. So they had to switch off the lights & stop their chatting.
